According to NBC here in the US, the missing titanic sub has been found. As debris. Off the bow of the Titanic wreckage.

And it looks like the sub suffered what we all suspected, and what was undoubtedly the more merciful of the two options: a catastrophic implosion from the pressure.

Also, more info has come to light about the fishing trawler with the hundreds of migrants that sank cataclysmically off the coast of Greece, indicating that the greek coast guard knew about the vessel AND how much trouble the vessel was in, and were towing it at a speed that made it capsize, at which point they unhooked the tow line and watched the trawler sink without helping the passengers to safety. Despite a bunch of other ships trying to help as well throughout the whole ordeal.

So a lot of people are dead, all because of regulations (and the lack thereof) regarding sea-faring vessels and rescue protocols. People shouldnt be allowed to make a business charging a ton of money for a ride on an uncertified, unsafe, un-seaworthy ship going deep into the ocean with no distress beacon or tether to the mothership. People also shouldnt be allowed to enact laws that criminalize the ferrying of refugees, which then force the refugees to hitch rides on fishing trawlers, and which also prevent people from helping those fishing trawlers full of refugees due to fear of legal consequences.

Hopefully BOTH of these events spark changes on an international scale in terms of what is legally allowed to be sailed, who is legally allowed to be the passengers, and what the rescue protocols are in the event of disaster for any seafaring vessel, illegal or not. It shouldnt be just the global 1% who get 24/7 search parties and remote-operated submersibles helping rescue them.

#the question of 'what do we owe to each other' can be answered simply with 'the dignity of retrieving our remains when we die'#another answer is 'the dignity of thinking about each other fellow humans with similar motivations and feelings'#also 'stopping someones potentially self-destructive behaviors just because theyre rich and want to feel special'#also i feel like humans have been sailing the seas long enough that it should be guaranteed that people will survive sea voyages #im very mad about specifically mediterranean maritime disasters because we have ancient writing saying they made it safe #sailing from Egypt to Greece was so old hat and safe that people legit took the ancient equivalent of cruises back and forth #cleopatra habitually sailed from alexandria to rome with a ton of ships and was fine #Nero tried to have his mother drowned at sea by orchestrating a dramatic shipwreck while she was our sailing AND SHE SURVIVED #and then swam to shore got back to rome and whooped his ass #fuckin pliny the elder tried to evacuate people from pompeii and the surrounding coast villages when vesuvius erupted #and he actually WAS able to rescue people #but he himself had an asthma attack from the fumes which led to a heart attack and he died on the beach #there is legit no excuse for that trawler of migrant refugees to have wrecked #negligence all around #anyway #oceangate

The 59 m (195 ft) long steamship Gunilda ran aground on the north side of Copper Island on McGarvey Shoal on 11 August 1911 and sank in northern Lake Superior after a failed salvage attempt.

Whatever Twitch is doing in their spare time honestly isn't Ockham's business. If they want to flicker in and out of existence in Parabola who's Ockham to say they shouldn't. They're probably just going to do it even harder if Ockham tries to say anything.

I think @capn-twitchery might have a slightly different opinion on the question though.

hii so ive been meaning to make a post related to shipwrecked comedy for a while now cause i absolutely love their stuff and well i figured now could be a good opportunity cause recently they released a standalone (meaning it can be enjoyed regardless of whether or not you listen to the other 14 eps of the podcast) holiday special of their comedic film noir mystery podcast series the case of the greater gatsby 🎄🔍⭐ featuring joey richter playing the main character of the special - the definitely best detective DASH GUNFIRE! and ive probably listened to it like at least 10 times by now, its been my favourite thing to listen to this month because it brings me so much joy! ❤️ i highly recommend it to all my followers

it honestly didn't take long at all for dash gunfire to become one of my favourite joey characters, he's just so sillyyy 🐇❤️ and this holiday special reinforced my love for the character tenfold. i need more people to know about this character and this special because its already become so important to me

Hi, I was the anon that had brought up the high seas adventure!! I'm glad you took interest in it, and hearing your ramblings to add onto it just made me imagine so many fun things! (Poor Eddie, haha. With your description, I just imagine a dog trying to stand up in a moving car.) Ohh, now I imagine a case where the ship wrecks and their stranded for a few days until another rescue ship comes! Perhaps on an island?? I hope some of them know how to hunt!

the very first thing that came to mind was Eddie sobbing while pointing one of Howdy's guns at a crab. Sally just comes up & stabs it through the shell before taking it back to the fire for eating. Eddie collapses to his knees, wracked with guilt-

#frank & sally arguing over how to build the S.O.S signal #frank wants to be tactical. sally wants to go full Elizabeth in potc - giant bonfire #frank wins the argument due to popular vote #hard cut to everyone standing in the water staring at the Very On Fire island #anyway eddie's 'i wouldnt hurt a fly' statement makes me think that he would not be able to kill anything on purpose #hunt? nah hes just gonna forage. crack open a coconut on a rock. try that weird mushroom #meanwhile wally & howdy are chatting about the weather while spearfishing #for some reason im imagining an almost entirely barren island #like theres five trees & a nice patch of vegetation #but the rest is barren sand w/ the shipwreck on a nearby sandbar #hm yes thats where their camp is. huddled under the half overturned ship <3 #the water between the bar & the island is shallow enough for the big neighbors to wade through #lots of fish for dinner!#rambles from the bog #wh fantasy au #lmao wait ok so wally has this ability where he can turn abandoned doors into portals #(it takes a lot of energy & power so its a last resort trick)#so im imagining that a week or so into this impromptu banishment #frank goes 'wait. wally you can do the door portal thing'#and they all go OHHHH SHIT and start building their own door out of the ship's wood #oh hey... what if that island becomes an emergency escape / stash for the neighborhood...#tight spot? no where else to go? they have a remote island camp!

UNCLE NINA WRITES WEIRD JK STAN LETTERS!

hello benevolent angel people!

( because you're wonderful but bc you're doing gods work by supporting my dead fanfic from hell. c:’ )

so this is a lil...experimental? but bc i've been dabbling on that one ask large lore ask that set before kyle knows raven of crimson dawn is his stan, i've gotten very attached to writing the silly jersey letters to dead stan in his journal again. ( again, nina lore is that it's what a friend had me do when my first cat passed away.

i still write to her. <3 )

but this is just something i wrote to get back into the habit of writing again. i put it on docs and i used a font which...okay? tbh, i think looks exactly like i want jk's handwriting to look. like its very swirly, he is my calligraphy king. i didn't proof it bc i just wrote...all of it tonight like a weird crazy person.

also i realize jk sounds...a lot like me

like in some facets i did give him lil pieces of myself so he could grow into an uber tall thicc as hell academic hot jersey talk shit get hit boy.

( i also do think he's a lot goofier with stan in his little letters esp since he doesn't think that anyone is going to read them they are just his lil vent space. let it out king! )

as for the timeline...i think it's pre!rm bonus content? like i dropped a little context about stuff that happened before the fic, but i think it's probably written anywhere in the last 1-2 years of rm before kyle went to that crimson dawn concert. i'm not sure what compelled me to write it i just...really like vulnerable jersey just being a jersey dirtbag but like kneeling by the stan shrine and asking for light.

speaking of...as far as triggers go. mostly the spelling is just bad, help, but jersey does talk a lot about stan dying and is very...distressed about it. he's also...really depressed and is not at the moment coping super well, but is reaching out for help. <3 always reach out for help when you need it. i didn't mention anything specific, but he does just mention thinking he's not a good person, feeling ugly, unworthy, lost, etc...TW FOR HIM BEING SO VULNERABLE AND CUTE ALSO.

today at work right before we closed i had a guy come up to me and try to debate with me that shipwrecks should be raised and preserved above the water because they're just rotting beneath the waves and we're losing so much history as if the water isnt the reason they preserve as well as they do half the time. things rot and decay no matter what we do with them we should leave them where they are going to be preserved the best with the least amount of money involved (ie create shipwreck/maritime sanctuaries and don't allow them to be disturbed).

also WHERE THE FUCK WOULD WE PUT THE FUCKING SHIPWRECKS
