Thunderclouds (Chishiya Shuntaro x Reader)
Plot: You wonder on why does Chishiya keeps you by his side.
A/N: This is my first AIB Fanfic. I don't have my own computer, So I typed using my phone. If I have any mistakes or lapses, let me know! Thank youuu so much! Enjoy the story! 😘💕
Part 2 is Up!
"Why do you keep me, Chishiya?" I asked as I looked straight on my room's ceiling, covered only with white bed sheets. His body warmth radiating beside me, I raised my arm to my forehead and eyes, as I was trying to catch my breath after doing body activities with him.
I still couldn't believe that I slept with him multiple times, I told myself that I would stop seeing him and if he did knock on my door asking to speak with him, I wouldn't allow it.
But what the fuck did I just do?
"I'm so stupid..." I whispered, I felt his body shift, I looked at him and he looked at me smirking,
"Did you really hate my performance? I mean you did release fou---"
"shut up." I said, looking at him annoyed at the fact that he is fucking smilling again. "You asshole. Can you get out of my room now? You got your sex now, can you leave me alone, so that I can have my peace and quiet."
"Do you really hate me that much?" he asked in full seriousness,
"no."
"You're lying."
"How do you say so?" I asked and then I brought my eyes back on my ceiling, then closed my eyes,
"Because, you didn't asked me stay on top of you to feel my warmth. You ignored me, this was the first time for the last two weeks that you opened you door for me." Then I felt him turn his back at me.
"You didn't smile, when you saw me." he said lastly.
I opened my eyes and got up into a sitting position in my bed still holding the blanket up to my breast. "Why do you keep me, Chishiya? I'll ask again... Why?"
All I got was silence.
I sighed, I couldn't with this man. He's not facing me at all. All I could see is his body's little movement whenever he is breathing in and out.
"I..." I spoke again, "I know Chishiya that I'm just part of your plan. You're using me and the others for your plans of going back. I'm not stupid, I know what you are doing." I stopped, still no response,
"we can continue the plans that you have, but... can we stop seeing each other like this?"
"No." I heard him say, I don't know if I should be flattered, but I got irritated,
"No? But, you can't do this to me! Before I ignored you, we would see each other everyday, you would knock on my door if I don't go outside the day after the games..." My tears started to fall down, "You can't give me false hopes, Chishiya. Please stop or else I might fall in love with you completely."
Again, I didn't receive any response at all
I tried to get off the bed, but the next thing I knew I was in under him again.
"Let me go!" I tried to push him, but he quickly took my hands and pinned them, "No! Chishiya, stop!"
His head went down to chest, pressing down his chest. He's like a cat, gently brushing his face, "Your warmth feels so good."
I tried to fight, but he is so strong...
"Please... just go... stop whatever you're doing. I'm tired. If your planning to use me as well for my body, please just find a different girl. And I can find my ow---"
"I said no. What part do you don't understand about a "no"?" he said, then he pulled away his face from my chest to look at me,
" I don't understand, why don't you want me to leave, when you mentioned the first time that we did this that we can't fall in love? Now that I'm falling for you, that breaks the contract." I'm crying again,
I'm emotionally tired.
"You're mine. I can't give you up. Besides the plan that we have, I feel the need to touch you, be with you." he said while looking into my eyes, "You just don't know how much I suffered the two weeks that I would try to get to you... But, I did stalk you, I'm checking if you replaced me already." he smirked, "I would have killed them if you slept with them."
He lost his smirk when I was still confused. Everything was just so confusing at this point, "You would kill just to be with me. Do you love me?"
His smirk came back with a partnered scoff, "You're becoming stupid.."
"Wai---what!!!" suddenly, his head to my neck, I could feel him kissing and leaving marks,
he has let go of my right hand, because his hand went to my private part. "Wait! Chishiya! Nooo! uhm..."
"Why do I must need to tell you everything, woman." his lips went to my breast, "I like you and you're mine. Try to leave me, I'll try to find a way to bring you back, even if that means force. Do you understand?"
I looked down on my chest and I saw him looking up, smirking. I couldn't respond... I feel a pressure on my tummy...
I felt a burst and all I could remember is white.

Untitled Fic (Correspondence)
Summary/Story So Far: HotchReid, slow burn, AU where Reid never joined the FBI, but got roped into consulting for the LA field office while working and teaching at CalTech. Hotch gets an email from a fellow agent, and they start to work on cases together - until they start talking on a regular basis. Regular becomes frequent, frequent becomes constant.
They have been dating for some time now, and while they had evolved from written correspondence to phone conversations, they still haven’t crossed those last few barriers. They still haven’t met. They still don’t know what they look like. But at this point it doesn’t matter, because they are already in love. They know they will meet, one day, and that's enough. But then the next step in their relationship is taken right out of their hands... once again, thanks to a case.
Official Posting Date: 04/03/2021
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (NSFW) (Part 5)
(Set in season 6/7, unbeta’d, first draft)
(sometimes I’m worried I’m giving too much of the good stuff away, but I’m also just too excited about it so here you go. Big milestone scene, or half of one anyway. Don’t worry about timelines yet, this takes place about halfway through the fic. It’s going to be a LONG story. This is a very, VERY rough draft just fyi)
-
The day Spencer sees Hotch the first time, is a complete accident.
He walks into the CalTech physics labs for his students, expecting to do the usual Monday rounds of checking on projects and thesis statements and arguments prepared for the Ph.D. board of directors -- and instead finds all of his doctorate students gathered around the projector screen where the news is being played twelve feet high.
“What’s going on?”
“There was another terrorist bombing in Dallas this morning,” Kimmy Li, his direct office assistant and teacher’s aide, tells him. Sitting cross-legged on top of her desk and holding tea that looks like it’s stone cold now. “They brought in homeland security and the FBI, and it’s all over national news now.”
“That’s where you’re from, isn’t it?” he asks, gentle and wary. When she nods worriedly, he leans against her desk with her and looks to the screen where the news reporter is summarizing the attacks once more.
Hotch is probably there. If they called in the FBI. He pulls out his phone to text him, ask him when he’s landing in Dallas, when Kimmy nudges his arm with her elbow and points to the screen. “Isn’t that your friend?”
He looks up and sure enough, there’s JJ. Her long blonde hair straight and professional, looking sharp in a dark brown pant suit and standing in front of about a dozen different outlet microphones. Her words are clear and concise, explaining a prepared press release he’s sure she wrote out in its entirety just on the flight from Quantico. Behind her is the Dallas police chief, and a few more agents all looking stern and very professional as well. He can only see an intimidating, dark-haired woman, a bald African-American man, and someone who he’s fairly certain is David Rossi.
“Yep, that’s JJ.”
“And is that David Rossi?”
“JJ is going to be doing a lot of explaining the next time we chat on the phone,” he says with a slight smirk. He didn’t even know the man was out of retirement, nor that he was now working with his long time friend. Spencer didn’t like to pry at her about her work or her team. She’d been bounced all over the past year or two, stolen by the pentagon and the State Department, only to be snatched right back by the FBI once more. He didn’t even know anything about her team, and hadn’t bothered to ask --
If he had, he would have asked her if she worked with Hotch a long time ago. But the BAU itself had grown exponentially the past few years. They had multiple teams all over the country, now, and more than one stationed in Quantico at the FBI federal headquarters. The odds were slim to none.
“We ask everyone here in the metropolitan area to remain vigilant, this team is very organized and we believe them to be a home-grown terrorist group. These kinds of groups blur racial and socio-economic lines. It could be anyone. We ask people to stay in their homes, avoid crowded areas, and to divert all traffic around the city instead of through it.”
“She looks good,” Kimmy smiles, a little red in her cheeks.
“She’s taken,” he stage-whispers to her. “Sorry to disappoint.”
“All the good ones are,” Kimmy mumbles, just as JJ looks to her left off screen.
“We will take questions in just a moment, but first our Unit Chief has a few words for the press and the group we are trying to find.” She steps aside, giving a small quirk of her mouth (not a smile, not after everyone that has died today) and makes room for a broad-shouldered, black haired man in a polished professional suit to take the podium. Smoothing his tie, mouth set in a thin line in his stern, authoritative face. Dark eyes, dark hair, dark lashes, the man commanded authority, and even Kimmy (who was gayer than a maypole) made a hum of appreciation.
Spencer smirked and couldn’t help but agree. Unfortunately, he was also taken.
Then, the man begins to speak.
“My name is Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, and I’m addressing the leader of the terrorist group that attacked the Capitol building this morning.”
Spencer’s stomach drops to his shoes.
His mouth parts on a sharp, pained gasp.
And his ears ring like an air raid siren, but it doesn’t drown out the deep, familiar tones of the man on the screen.
The man who had whispered huskily into his ear two nights ago, who had wished him good morning last week when he’d just gotten back from a Florida case, who had told Spencer he loved him exactly nineteen days ago and rocked his world to his core.
Now Spencer was staring him in the face, twelve feet high, on a projector screen in front of all his students, and if he hadn’t been leaning against Kimmy’s desk he knows he would have fallen over.
Hotch.
“We have your demands. We know what you want. And you’re not getting them.”
There’s a collective gasp around the lab, and Spencer feels his jaw tighten because this was either a ploy that was going to try and draw the unsubs out into the open, or part of the demand to get the public against the FBI presence. Risky, either way, and he swallows hard as he listens to Hotch lay down the fucking law. Back straight, head high, unblinking and not showing an inch of emotion on his face.
And it’s so… very hot.
And he’s so… extremely handsome.
Spencer is fucked.
He watches the whole press conference, scared to blink and miss one millisecond, soaks up every word and facial tick and nuance he knows by heart in Hotch’s voice. But now he has facial expressions, dark eyes and a strong jaw, to match to it.
“Are you okay, Dr. Reid?” Kimmy asks him, when he finally blinks and realizes his eyes sting from staring so hard, and she looks distraught at her hometown being targeted so viciously. He should be comforting her, not the other way around.
“Y-Yeah, I’m fine, I just… I know that team. Not just JJ. Could you,” he pauses, and can’t believe the words that are about to come out of his mouth. “Would you mind finding me a copy of that press conference and emailing it to me? I have some phone calls to make this morning, but I need to watch it again.”
Kimmy stares at him. Because Spencer never needs to rewatch or reread anything. He has an eidetic memory.
But he doesn’t explain himself, just awaits an answer and gives her a grimace of a smile when she nods still a little stunned. “Thanks, Kimmy. Let me know if you need anything.” And with an awkward pat on her shoulder, he bee-lines straight for his office and sits behind his desk. Head in his hands. Hotch’s eyes burned into his memory. His voice and his mouth and his jaw and his…everything.
He still has a half typed message in the text box. And he can’t even bring himself to complete it.
(tbc...)

Don’t worry kid. When I was little I did fuck all too. Now look at me.
-----------------
Your Uncle Zhou is a hedgehog. He’s prickly on the outside but inside there is a grumpy adorable little animal that loves you to pieces.
---------------------------------
Please let me be your disciple so we can be together forever
Shit how do I say no without saying that it’s because I’m literally dying? Uh...
“You’re too old and you suck at martial arts and you don’t know the basics so it’d be a waste of my time.” Nailed it.
------------------------------
Don’t worry, ChengLing. He just means that you probably won’t become the greatest martial artist ever. And most people don’t reach that level anyway. So no worries. You got this! :D
---------------------------
There are two ways to get good at something. Either train from childhood or start now.
Actually really good advice. The world kinda lives on this idea that if you don’t start something when you’re young you can never start it. Singing. Dancing. Art. Gymnastics. Whatever.
But that’s nonsense. You want to be good at it? Start practicing now.
I won’t take you on as my disciple but I’ll teach you some of the basics because I love you and you are a good boy.
-----------------
This boy in love
--------------------
Okay so I keep going on about ChengLing being the best boy but don’t think I’ve forgotten about how great A-Xiang is!
She’s gruff and a bit crass but she’s really quite kind! At least what I’ve seen so far.
In her heart I believe she is a sweet girl.
---------------------------------
Aren’t you going to help your maid?
Ah naw. A-Xiang can handle herself.
So can I. GTFO.

The Punch (pt1)
So somehow a conversation about angry Virgil with @gumnut-logic got thoroughly and utterly morphed into... whatever this is. I don’t know what, but there’s no angry Virgil here. My muse works in bizarre ways.
Sleeping schedule fix is failing but I’m gonna try, so have a part one of whatever this is. Should have been a simple drabble. Is not. There will be more, my muse just stalled here for now which means bed for me and random thing for you guys. Not proof read.
(I’ll work on my proper, structured, fics again at some point, I promise. Probably after this uni assignment is done. For now you get random things and my inbox is still open for those drabble games from earlier!)
Alan had no idea what he was seeing, but he knew he didn’t like it. Gordon had a hand on his shoulder, holding him back, although from the way his grip felt like claws even through the protection of his uniform, Alan suspected he was holding himself back just as much.
Virgil crouched on the ground, hands gripping his hair so tightly he was sure to be missing some strands when he finally let go, a dull roar of what could be frustration except it had that unmistakable edge of pain dragging itself out past his clenched teeth. Warm, kind brown eyes were screwed tightly shut, and there was absolutely no doubt that, somehow, their brother was in absolute agony.
He’d been the one to tell them to stay back, voice tight before the roar overtook him and he ended up in his current position. John had seconded the order, up in orbit but no doubt with a better grasp of the situation than they had. He must have, because there was no other reason that they couldn’t go to Virgil. Not when he was so clearly in pain.
Alan just wished he had any idea what was causing it – or that his brothers would share whatever they knew. He refused to consider that maybe they didn’t know any more than he did. Except Virgil knew, didn’t he, because he’d told them to stay back, an order made in a scream.
Gordon was obeying, only just. Alan was obeying, because Gordon wasn’t letting him do otherwise.
Scott had never let any of them boss him around, and wasn’t about to start now.
“Virgil!” He’d been the other end of the danger zone, packing up his drones back in Thunderbird One, when the first signs appeared. Out of breath, he had no doubt run flat out across the perimeter – breaking the first rule of any hazard zone but being the eldest, rules didn’t apply to Scott like they did the rest of them. The panic on his face was a familiar one; Alan had seen that exact same look whenever any of them got hurt, before Scott knew what had happened and that they’d be fine.
Somehow, that made Alan feel better. Scott was here, Scott would find out what was wrong, Scott would fix it.
“Virgil! What-”
Alan had seen many things in his comparatively short life. He’d seen what space looked like without any atmosphere in the way, he’d seen death and life and just about everything in between. He’d seen brothers broken in hospital, seen impossible become possible so many times. But even though International Rescue had a habit of doing the impossible, this was something Alan could never have predicted. Nor was it anything he ever wanted to see.
Virgil lashed out, pure muscle – pure Hulk – and his fist smashed straight into Scott’s face.
Something – someone, Gordon – dragged Alan backwards, away from the sheer impossible sight, but it was too late. Too late not to see gentle, kind Virgil attack the big brother he always supported. Too late to miss Scott crumpling to the ground like a puppet with his strings cut.
There was blood and Scott wasn’t moving. Alan’s scream was muffled by a hand over his mouth as he was yanked further back, around the corner and out of sight.
“John, what the hell just happened?” Gordon demanded, voice quiet but pure steel. Alan didn’t hear if their other brother answered, struck numb as the fundamental fundamentals of his life flipped.
Virgil… Virgil would never do that. Not now, not in a million years. Not to anyone, not to Scott.
But he had.
“Alan!” The hiss was sharp, as though it wasn’t Gordon’s first attempt at catching his attention.
“He-” he started, almost a whimper. “Virgil-”
“I’m going to put a stop to it,” Gordon promised him. “Virgil’s not himself and John’s found out why. Alan, I need you to stay here, okay? Stay hidden until I tell you otherwise.”
“But-”
“Alan.” Gordon swivelled him around to face him and put both his hands on his shoulders. “Alan, listen to me. Stay here. Stay safe. When I give you the signal, go help Scott. Not before, okay?”
“Virgil-”
“The moment Virgil snaps out of it he’ll be the first one smothering Scott better,” Gordon promised. “I just have to go snap him out of it.” The grin would have been believable if Alan was ten years younger.
“Gordon-”
“It’ll be fine. Trust me.”
He nodded, and Gordon vanished. Not towards Virgil, but Alan had to trust he knew what he was doing, that he’d get Virgil back to normal.
Without a brother to hold him back, though, Alan couldn’t stay put. Slowly, cautiously, he crept back to the corner and peered around it.
Virgil was still roaring, pain and defiance as he clutched at his head once more. The muscles in his arms bulged, and Alan gulped at the raw strength his brother normally hid. Scott hadn’t moved an inch, limps splayed haphazardly exactly as they’d fallen.
Was he-
Had Virgil-
No, Alan scolded himself, feeling tears well up. He couldn’t think like that. He refused.
There was no sign of Gordon. Whatever his immediate brother was doing, he wasn’t anywhere in Alan’s eyeline. Hopefully he was fixing it. Hopefully Alan wasn’t about to be the last sane and conscious brother on Earth. Hopefully-
Virgil slumped down, eerily like Scott except no-one had touched him. The sudden silence was startling and Alan jumped back, inadvertently putting the corner once again between him and his brothers. His breathing sounded loud, too loud, and obeying some instinct he didn’t understand, he clamped a hand over his mouth.
“Scott!” Anguished, familiar. Alan peered back around the corner to see Virgil back up, on his knees and fumbling for their eldest brother. “Oh, god, no. Scott!”
His comm chirped. Still watching Virgil as he reached a hand so clearly trembling Alan could see it from there to touch Scott’s head, he answered.
Gordon looked grim, but there was a satisfied edge to it. Dangerous, a reminder that he’d spent time in the military. “All clear, Alan.”
There were questions but Alan knew well enough that he didn’t want answers, so he started running, a hasty “F.A.B.” acknowledging Gordon’s words before he closed the line. Up close, Scott looked bad.
Virgil looked worse. There were tears streaking down his face, cutting lines through post-rescue grime, and he was shaking as he repeated Scott’s name over and over like a mantra. Large hands fluttered tentatively, as though he was afraid to touch Scott, and taking pity, Alan put his on top of them.
They were warm. Friendly. Virgil. If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, Alan would never have believed what they’d done. He pushed those thoughts away.
“Get the stretcher,” he ordered. Him ordering Virgil? Another impossibility, but one he had at least a micron of experience in, if only in space.
“Scott,” Virgil choked out again, and Alan released one of his hands to fearfully check their brother’s pulse.
It was there, strong and steady. Tension he hadn’t noticed seeped away.
“Virgil,” he said, keeping his voice calm even though he wanted to cry, too. Virgil still wasn’t himself, but this wasn’t the scary roaring version. This was the older brother falling apart version, and Alan was so not qualified to deal with it. “Virgil, get the stretcher.”
“Hey, Virg.” Gordon was back, and Alan immediately let him deal with Virgil as he turned his attention fully to the still-unconscious Scott.
There was no mistaking the broken nose, nor where his teeth had punctured his lip. Alan plucked the trauma kit from Scott’s baldric with trembling fingers and began initial treatment, hoping it would coax his brother into coming around.
It didn’t.

Ooooh, one hell of a language warning on this one. Not a happy Tracy at all.
For @soniabigcheese for Gordon and Bedlam.
-o-o-o-
“Gordon!” Scott’s yell was echoed by John
Virgil didn’t think, he just moved.
Two was banking before he was even fully in his pilot’s seat, her massive thrusters firing to accelerate her down and around the listing platform.
“For Christ’s sake, hold still, you idiot.”
It was said under his breath, but Gordon’s voice carried over comms like a wave of reassurance. As Two darted under the platform, Virgil was both relieved and horrified to find the rescuee dangling from a hastily deployed grapple line.
Gordon was clinging to mangled superstructure not far below the hole he had leapt through. “Uh, hey, Virg. Need a little hand.”
Further up, Scott was peering through the hole in the tarmac.
An exhalation. “FAB, Gordon.”
Mental calculations and Virgil managed to squeeze Two up and under the victim. The collapsed runway was far too close for comfort, but he managed it with an inch or so to spare.
Rising out of Two’s top hatch, he was greeted with a wriggling wreck of a man. “About time.”
Virgil bit back his response. “Please hold still, sir.”
“Finally, I can get off this boat.”
Virgil felt no guilt at his urge to want to slap the man. Gordon’s grapple, as always, had been right on target, snagging the victim’s belt in its claw. The guy obviously had no idea how close he had come to dying…or the danger to Gordon.
If he cared at all.
The fact that there were at least three holocams buzzing around filming them was, oddly, a little reassuring. Perhaps Jack could press charges.
As Virgil took the man’s weight and released the grapple, the groan of pain from Gordon over comms only emphasized what the man had done.
Virgil bit his lip until it hurt.
Definitely pressing charges.
He held the man until his feet touched the hatch plates and made sure he could take his own weight before lowering them into the cockpit.
He fingered his comms. “Scott, are you able to reach Gordon? I can try, but its tight up there. Two will not be able to get close enough without further structural damage.” Not that he would let that stop him, but the platform was unstable and a thousand lives were still dependent on it.
“FAB, Thunderbird Two. I have him secured with a grapple line. Gordon, status?”
Their aquanaut brother grunted, but Virgil lost the rest of his answer as the rescuee started protesting that he was fine and no, he didn’t need to lie down and could he sit in the co-pilot’s seat?
Virgil’s abrupt ‘No!’ apparently wasn’t enough to shut him up.
Virgil did not have time for this.
Deploying the seat furthest from the dash, he strapped the man into it.
“Hey, I want to sit up front.”
“You will sit here.” And shut up.
“Do you know who I am?”
An idiot? “I don’t care.”
Virgil turned his back on him and did his best to ignore the man’s protests as he realised that, no, he couldn’t undo his seatbelt.
There was no way Virgil was going to have this moron free to wander around his ship.
“Thunderbird Four? Status?”
Instead of Gordon, Scott answered. “Pulling him up now, Thunderbird Two. Gordon is secure.”
Oh, thank god.
Virgil couldn’t help peering up out of the windows and checking for himself. Far above, Scott could be seen hauling Gordon up with his own grapple gun.
Virgil needed to be topside now.
Two responded to his touch as she always did, smoothly and immediately, the great ship banking away from the structure in a controlled fall. He fired her thrusters launching her up and around the massive platform just in time to see Gordon emerge from the hole in the tarmac.
“Medical report, Gordon.” He had to know.
Again, Scott cut in before Gordon could answer. “Possible sprained wrist, definitely some issue with his right arm. Some bleeding. For goodness sake, Gordon stand still!”
“I’m fine, Scott, we have more important things to do.”
“I’m aware of the situation, Gordon. I want you evacuated to Two.”
Hissed over comms. “Forget it, Scott, I’m not leaving you down here with this mob of idiots by yourself.”
“Gordon!”
Virgil sighed and switched Two into a secure hover. “Thunderbird Five, you have Two, monitor and secure, please.”
“FAB, Thunderbird Two.”
“Have Eos keep an eye on the two patients in the medbay and advise immediately of any change.”
“Monitoring already. Internal cockpit cams active. Eyes active.”
Virgil’s lips twitched as he stood up from his seat. John knew exactly what he was talking about. Leaving Idiot alone on his ‘bird was not ideal, but he couldn’t actually throw the man back into the danger zone.
Grabbing a medkit, Virgil strode back to the hatch and lowered himself down enough to catch a descent line and secure it to his harness.
“What? Where are you going?”
“I’ll be back shortly, sir. No need to worry, you are in safe hands.”
“Hands? Whose hands?”
Virgil didn’t answer before he leapt off the hatch and began his descent down to the platform.
Gordon and Scott were sharing a few stubborn words as Virgil strode across the tarmac. There were still people milling about. He caught sight of Penelope’s father desperately trying to talk several suited individuals into returning to the pods.
It was enough to frustrate even Virgil’s patience.
He was almost to his brothers when the first words were thrown his way.
“That’s the one who killed all those people in New York!” That same woman’s voice from earlier. Virgil forced himself not to look, focussing instead on his brothers. The crowd began muttering. His name was mentioned several times.
The moment he reached Gordon, Scott handed him over and returned to attempting to handle the crowd.
That didn’t want to be handled.
“Hey, Gords. What have you done to yourself?” A visual inspection revealed a limp arm being held by a tight hand indicating pain. Several tears in his uniform and a glare with enough energy to ignite the air around it.
Worst of all, Gordon was strangely quiet, eyeing the crowd.
Scott again urged everyone to return to the pods. As if to emphasize his request, the wind suddenly picked up and the whole platform shuddered.
John, ever the eagle eye, immediately tagged them on comms. “You might want to hurry up that evac, guys. The weather is stable for the moment, but the forecast for the evening is the arrival of a front. There will be turbulence ahead of the change.”
Virgil was aware of that and had factored it into his calculations when deploying the airjacks.
Didn’t make them impervious to the jostling. “FAB, Thunderbird Five.” He turned to Gordon. “I want you up on Two. Now.”
Gordon’s eyes were still on the crowd and their muttered complaints. Scott was deploying full commander mode and several had backed away, heading towards the stadium, but a core group were either begging to be taken aboard a Thunderbird, glaring at Virgil…or yelling accusations at him.
Gordon pushed past his brother and strode towards the crowd.
“Gordon!”
“Who the fuck do you think you are?!” Gordon’s comms were on loudspeaker and his voice hushed the crowd immediately.
Almost.
One angry man in a GDF uniform stepped forward. “I’m your superior, lieutenant, and I demand-“
“You demand? You have no right to demand anything!”
Virgil reached for his brother, but his hand was shaken off. Scott spun and narrowed in on the both of them, worry the foremost in his expression.
But Gordon ignored it.
“My brothers have done nothing but try to help you, to save you, THAT is what we do. But you assholes won’t listen!” Gordon took a step forward, the hand on his arm white knuckled.
“If you don’t return to your pods now, you are going to die! Is that simplistic enough for you? My brothers will, no doubt, try their best, risk their lives, trying to save yours, but they are not fucking miracle workers. You will DIE, if YOU DON’T MOVE YOUR ASSES!!”
That got several people moving.
But not all.
“Gordon!” Scott’s voice was more worried elder brother than commander.
That earned him a scathing look. “No, Scott, I’ve had it! Did you hear what they are saying about Virgil? They called him a murderer!” His anger turned back to the crowd. “You have no fucking idea who you are talking about. Virgil is the kindest of us, the gentlest, he can’t hurt a damned fly and you accuse him of purposefully killing all those people. He tried to save them.” His brother’s shoulders wilted. “He tried so hard.”
“They still died.” It came from that same world councillor who wanted his own private Thunderbird ride.
Gordon staggered up to the man and Virgil hurried to follow. The tarmac shook again. “Gordon, we need to get these people off the platform.”
His brother ignored him and instead pushed into the councillor’s personal space. “Yes, they did. But you don’t care do you? You have your own fucking agenda. It’s not about lives, is it? It’s about money. It’s about power.” A rough indrawn breath as the man took a step back. “Well, newsflash, asshole, we don’t care! We have the power, we have the money, and we don’t care. My brothers only want to help. Every life is important, even your mediocre and pathetic one. Now, move your ass AND RETURN TO YOUR POD SO WE CAN SAVE YOUR FUCKING LIFE!!”
Gordon staggered with the force of his yell and Virgil was moving. He grabbed at his little brother just as the aquanaut’s body suddenly folded. Virgil caught him before he could hit the tarmac.
What the hell?! “Gordon!”
Voice whisper weak. “Virg.”
He held his brother in his arms while fumbling for the med scanner. “Gords, what the hell are you doing?”
Beneath plexiglass reflecting the sky above, carnelian flickered up at him. Gordon blinked slowly. “They hurt you…” His eyes closed and didn’t open again.

Characters: Scott, Jeff, Virgil, Kayo, and Grandma (V/K).....
Location: TaG-verse AU | Enroute to Auckland Gen.

Part 3 - Selamat
Two hours later found Tracy Two taxiing down the runway at the GDF Auckland Airforce base with Scott at the helm. His brother had wanted to fly in Two and truthfully the flight would have been quicker but the big cargo plane was far from inconspicuous.
They needed to keep a low profile. So far they had managed to keep the news of the pair’s marriage out of the media but there were rumours beginning to circulate. A few images captured on telescopic drone lenses had popped up in various media outlets over the last year that suggested that Virgil and Kayo were anything but adopted siblings.
Luckily though John with the aid of Eos and iR security had managed to displace the gossip mill with carefully crafted videos confirming the pairs whereabouts as being anywhere but the locations suggested in the images.
There had been a couple close calls but for the most part they had waylaid any further suspicion. Though if anyone was to take a closer look at things the carefully laid network of lies would crumble.
And now that Kayo was pregnant; as badly planned but joyous an event that it was, it wouldn’t take much for some intrepid newshound to put two and two together if they caught wind that Kayo was expecting. And that was the last thing they needed.
With her uncle on the loose and already vowing to crush the Tracy legacy there was no telling what would happen if the lunatic got word that his only living blood with the exclusion of his brother was carrying the spawn of his hated enemy.
Scott had actually had the foresight to have John and Eos come up with scenarios for just that occasion and he found the results mind boggling and scary to say the least.
He liked to think that they were prepared but with the Hood, there was no being sure. His hate for Jeff and the Tracy name had only increased since the patriarch had been returned to Earth and from what little that i.R operatives like Penny had been able to uncover. The Hood’s pockets were dark and very deep.
Swinging Tracy Two into the shelter of a secure hanger, Scott started post flight with the help of his father and brought the 30 million dollar craft to a stop.
A thump thump of the fuselage signaled the all clear to disembark before he released the lock on the door.
“All right, the hanger’s secure. We can pop the door.” He called back into the passenger cabin.”
Unbuckling he stood and helped his father to his feet.
“Smooth flight, Son. Even smooth landing.”
“Well, this thing is a cake walk in comparison to One and all her finickiness but I wouldn’t change her for the world.”
Jeff chuckled. “I don’t blame you there. Luxury is for …” He caught himself there and Scott had to chuckle himself.
”You’ve been spending too much time talking to Lee again haven’t you. Don’t let Grandma hear you talking like that.. “
“Oh perish the thought, she’d have a bar of soap shoved in my mouth before I even drew the breath needed to protest.”
Scott clapped his Dad on the back and stepped out of the flight cabin. The door to the personal jet was already unlatched and open and from where he stood he could see their security detail waiting at the bottom of the short flight of stairs.
Getting Virgil’s attention while he fussed with Kayo, he pointed a thumb over his shoulder. “Our ride is here. Ready whenever you are.”
“With bells on.” Virgil said with a grunt as he bent down and scooped his wife up.
“I can walk.” Kayo’s grumped, her protest ignored as Virgil carried her out of the plane and down the gangway to the waiting black SUV, their Grandmother following close in their wake.
“We’ll meet you at Auckland Gen’.“ Scott informed watching as the head of their security team split the group in two to cover the family members present.
“Alright, Dear.” His grandmother waved, disappearing into the dark interior of the large vehicle.
He watched a moment as the SUV pulled away, the large door opening just enough for it to pass through before vanishing from view.
“Okay, Hubbert what you got for me?”
There was an ebb and flow into the seedy side of the city. People came and went, flowing in through the doors and down the street. Blanketing the hole is a wall internet café with life. Transient and the like came to this desolate corner of the city for one purpose and one purpose only.
To access the hidden world. The one that was skulking in the shadowy doorways and back aisles that one could find anywhere in the world if you knew just where to look.
There was no avoiding it for where there was light there was darkness. In that darkness that’s where one individual was most at home.
Little was known of him even in these dubious and unsavory circles but the mere mention of his name would have even the most hardened checking over their shoulders and seeking the closest exit.
His reputation was such that the one thing he was known for was the wake of death that he left in his path. Those of the people who opposed or crossed him even in the underworld found they were swiftly bereft of life.
It was a well cultivated tidbit that he nursed and nourished regularly. For to get anywhere in this world, respect even ill gotten was necessary.
When his mind was set to task there was no keeping him from his goals and he would plow over anything that got in his way. It was the doggedness that he had been known for prior to his life of crime and one that suited his mission well.
Not that much of his prior life existed anymore. He’d made sure of that.
Of all the other things he had accomplished one that he took greatest pride in was his information network. His web was vast and it ventured into nooks and crannies the world over. The spidery tendrils far reaching and numerous though very few were even aware of it.
Over the years he’d had a lot of time to improve his skills. Meandering in the dark since his downfall at the hands of Jeff Tracy. And in that darkness he had thrived.
Now as he sat in an ill lit corner of a grungy café garbed as a drunken vagrant, he grinned. The encrypted software on his screen flashing at him. Information received and compiled. Orders sent out and acknowledged.
He had what he needed for now. It was only a matter of time before he had it all.

I saw this weeks guest when he was supporting The Screaming Jets at the Gov last month. I became a fan after that. He also comes from the same town as my Dad. Here is my interview with Mason Lloyde.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Sex on legs sums it up pretty well….
No, just joking.
Mason Lloyde, born in Broken Hill. I’ve lived in Adelaide most my life and love it.
I’ve been in the performing arts for as long as I remember. My parents put my sister and I in a performing arts school from quite a young age after showing interest in the profession.
I’ve been playing guitar for about 16/17 years and singing for probably 20 years. (Professionally 12+ years)
What/who inspired you to get into music?
I’m a massive Elvis Presley fan and have been for as long as I remember. I have his ‘TBC lightening bolt tattooed on my wrist. I’m not sure how I discovered Elvis as my parents didn’t play his songs often. Dad was a massive Slim Dusty fan and Mum was INXS. I guess I just heard him once and gravitated towards his music.
You just released a single Free Man”. What is the story behind this song?
Free Man is a song written about the struggles of your own mind. The little voice on your shoulder telling you that the things you do/create/design/make aren’t good enough. The consistent struggle with being a perfectionist. Which is ironic as the song itself isn’t perfect. The vocals in the final cut of Free man were actually taken from the first recording I did for the demo of the song. I liked the fact that I can hear imperfections. Makes it real.
When you record, how does the process develop? Drums first followed by guitar etc?
We normally start with how I wrote the song (usually just acoustic & vocals) and build it from there. We try a million different ideas before I’m happy with the outcome and then we record the live Instruments.
Was is your career highlight so far?
I don’t have a single highlight..
Every original performance I do, new song I write or record is kind of a highlight for me.
Cherish and appreciate every moment kind of situation
Any upcoming gigs you want to promote?
Well the gigs that I can officially talk about.. 😏
We have Folkloria coming up October 30. Opening for Kyle Lionhart at simon Hackett winery in Mclaren Vale.
Something a bit sooner, I’m helping a good mate out with this EP launch on the 19th AUG at The Jade ADL. We have a lineup of about five different local artists/bands all doing there thing. It’s a good one to discover some local musicians for anyone wanting to find us!
What do you think of the Adelaide music scene?
We are getting there! Haha
Adelaide is a tough one. Definitely with touring artist from different states/countries. We do seem to be skipped a lot but I think that is due to the sales compared to other states. I would love to see more people out enjoying local music & buying tix to concerts and gigs around town.
What are\were some of your favourite venues to play?
The Gov main stage is amazing to play. I do love it every time I’m there. 👌🏽
It’s intimate & grand all at the same time!
Who are some other adelaide bands we should have a look at?
Not a band but check out Jordan D’Sena. Come to the show on 19th August and check out his new single.
I have so many talented friends that aren’t even on the music scene but should be! Adelaide is the city of hidden talents.
What are your long and short term goals?
Keen loving what I do and enjoy the ride where ever it takes me.
I would love to be touring with my music and band within the next couple years.
If you could only keep one album, what would it be?
Oh mate… Elvis Presley ‘HitSTORY’. I’ve owned the CD since I was young and still play it today. The man’s voice is incredible.
Finally, where can people find you? Socials etc?
*Clears throat*
Well… My Latest single “Free Man” is on all your streaming platforms and you can follow me at @masonlloydemusic on MOST of your social networking platforms. I fucking hate Snapchat so not there.

OBSCURE ◍ PETER PARKER X READER

“…you don’t.”

MCU!PETER PARKER/SPIDERMAN X READER
read it on wattpad!
table of contents:

Things only got worse that night. (Y/N) didn't have a concussion or anything like that, except for a second-degree burn on her hand from the doorknob which she had to cover with bandages. She just had to keep getting injured. Her face was all kinds of messed up with the bruise on her nose and the cut on her forehead. After EMT checked her and the detectives asked her about what she remembered she was free to go back to her room.
She wished Peter had texted her or something to let her know he wasn't coming. At this point it was nearly 11 PM, there had to be a reason that he didn't come, a part of her just needed someone to hug. She could've died tonight if Mr. Delmar allowed her to stand there just a few moments longer. Then she realized something.
Peter didn't have her number. Peter found that out later too when he came home to change due to his backpack being stolen. He thought he would be coming back to an empty room but instead, his best friend was waiting on his bottom bunk of his bed.
"What was that?" Aunt May called from the kitchen. Peter panicked, having just shut the door and still in his Spiderman suit.
"Uh, it's nothing! nothing!" Peter said, then turned back around.
"You're the spiderman, from YouTube." Ned breathed out, his heart pounded so fast from excitement and confusion, putting together all the small things Peter had said over the last few months and shaming himself for not noticing sooner. Especially back when Ned noticed Peter suddenly had an 8 pack in the Gym locker room when he didn't even have a single muscle the week before.
"No, I'm not. I'm not." Peter begged, tapping the front of his chest to release the suit from his body, praying Ned would forget about everything.
"You were on the ceiling!" Ned pointed up, Peter practically was shitting himself. Still denying, kicking his suit to the side of the room.
"No, I wasn't. What are you doing in my room?" Peter asked.
"Aunt May let me in, you said we were gonna finish the Death Star!" Ned reminded him
"You can't just bust into my room!" Peter's efforts were cut off by Aunt May opening the door, Peter rushed to stand next to Ned and look innocent while still in his boxers.
"That turkey meatloaf recipe was a disaster." Aunt May laughed letting her hair down, Peter could see the usual smoking oven behind her in the kitchen, "Let's go to dinner. Thai? Ned, you want thai?"
"Yes," Ned said, still elated by the news.
"No! He's got a thing." Peter cut him off louder. Knowing his best friend needed time to process what happened before he spilled everything he just witnessed to his Aunt.
"A thing to do after, yeah." Ned nodded.
"Okay." Aunt May looked between the two of them, and her practically naked nephew, "Maybe put on some clothes."
Peter grabbed the sweater closest to him and Aunt May shut the door again, throwing the two back into action.
"Oh, she doesn't know!" Ned whispered.
"Nobody knows. I mean, Mr. Stark knows because he made my suit but that's it." Peter explained, putting his sweater on.
"Tony Stark made you that? Are you an avenger?" Ned pushed out questions, finding that he had so many.
"Yeah, basically." Peter shrugged. Ned looked like he was going to pass out, "Look, you have to keep this a secret."
"A secret? why?" Ned said, bummed.
"You know how she is, if she finds out people try to kill me every single night she's not going to let me do this anymore," Peter spoke quickly, knowing it'll be suspicious if they stay in for too long, "Come on, Ned. Please."
"Ok, ok, ok, ok. I'll level with you." Ned said, calming himself, "I don't think I can keep this a secret this is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, Peter!"
"Ned, May cannot know! I cannot do that to her right now. You know? I mean, with everything that's happened with her. I -- please."
"Okay." Ned's eyes softened.
"Just swear it, okay?" Peter asked, getting across how important this is.
"I swear." Ned promised.
"Thank you." Peter said, running a hand through his hair and rushing to put on a pair of jeans, "I can't believe this is happening right now."
"Can I try the suit on?" Ned asked, smiling again.
"No." Peter said, "And Ned I need a favor."
"What is it? Do I need to-" Ned started,
"Before you say anything. No, it's nothing for a secret alien lair." Peter guessed and Ned dropped his hand, "Do you have (Y/N)'s phone number?"
"No, why?" Ned said.
"I just need to know if she's okay. I told her I'd meet her tonight but now I can't and I don't want her to think I'm a dick." Peter explained.
"You were gunna meet with her?" Ned asked, "Without me? Like a date? Like you think she's cute? And you like her?"
"I mean, not like a date. But I was going to- I don't know- yeah. I think she's cute and really funny. We talked a lot after practice." Peter explained.
"I told you she was your type." Ned said, smug.
"I don't have a type?" Peter crossed his arms.
"You definitely have a type." Ned said, walking forward, "But, wait, I mean Joseph posted all over his twitter that he asked out the new girl before anyone else did."
"He did? She didn't tell me that." Peter said, bummed out. And mad he didn't have any social media for himself right now.
"Yeah, Flash retweeted it." Ned explained how he saw it, "I'm sorry, Peter. I mean, I'll try to get her number for you though. Or you could always make an appearance as Spiderman in her window?"
"I'm not doing that, she'll call the cops on me." Peter laughed, May called from the kitchen.
"Maybe." Ned shrugged, then he looked at the suit in the corner of the room, "How does it work? Is it magnets? How do you shoot the strings?"
"Imma tell you all about this at school tomorrow." Peter grabbed his friends arm, walking him out of his room.
"Great." Ned said, thinking of all the questions he needed to ask, with one last one on his mind that he could answer, "Okay, well, wait then. How do you this and the Stark internship?"
"This is the Stark Internship," Peter said Ned made in o shape with his mouth. Peter shoved him out finally.
Peter and Aunt May went to get Thai food like they said. Not talking very much, Peter was bouncing his leg under the table trying to handle all the stress. He had to admit though that telling Ned felt good. It felt good to have someone to talk to, maybe now he wouldn't bother Mr. Stark as much.
Still, what bothered him more was that (Y/N) would be going on a date with Joseph. Of all people, Joseph. Joseph had bullied Peter and Ned since the 6th Grade, made fun of Ned's weight, pushed Peter around for being so lanky small and a show-off. This was ridiculous, he had had a crush on Liz for years anyway and maybe it was better if nothing changed. He didn't have a chance with a senior girl let alone a girl in his grade.
Maybe she would change her mind, I mean, she barely knows him right? But she also barely knows me either so-
As if on cue, Peter broke from his thoughts to see (Y/N)'s face appear on the screen. The news was playing. She was covered in ash, the wound on her head patched and she seemed more hydrated before.
"These guys were across the street, robbing the bank. They had these crazy weapons, stuff I'd never seen before. But Spiderman was there and fending them off, Mr. Delmar called the cops and told me to hide since everytime someone has weapons like that in New York something or someone always gets hurt and he didn't want me to get hurt." (Y/N) was explaining her story.
"So, Spiderman? You think he's a savior or should he just stay out of the way? I mean if it wasn't for Spiderman those weapons wouldn't have gone off-" The reporter asked, shoving the microphone further into her face. (Y/N) cut him off.
"If it wasn't for Spiderman I still would've been trapped in that janitor's closet. Spiderman saved me, don't try to pin this on him. The real enemy is whoever made those weapons and gave them to people like that. If it wasn't tonight something would've gone wrong sooner. It's bank robbers now, then what? We need more people like Spiderman who are willing to do what's right."
It was official, Peter had a very real and growing crush on that girl.
"Hey! (Y/N) stop talking to them!" a bearded man in a jacket with yellow sleeves and a beanie ran under the caution tape, he called from behind (Y/N).
"That's my dad, I got to go."
"Thank you for your time." The reporter panned the camera back to himself, "That was a survivor (Y/N) (Y/L/N), a high school student who just was trying to finish her homework when-"
"You see something like that, you turn and you run the other way." Aunt May shook her head.
"What? Oh, yeah. Yeah, definitely." Peter nodded, panicking.
"I mean two blocks away from us! Two!" Aunt May started in.
"I need a new backpack." Peter changed the subject.
"What?"

Broken Bond Chapter 11
Broken Bond
Chapter 11
Magnus took several deep breaths. This was a lot to take. Oh, not the mess with Lorenzo, he had been expecting something like this from the arrogant ass. No, it was the small army of Shadowhunters in the room that had Magnus’s emotions spiraling. He was not shocked, thrilled yes, but not shocked at Alexander’s defense, but for other Nephilim’s to come to a Downworlder’s aid, and not just because of duty, they protected him, even encircled him. Magnus needed just a moment to compose himself.
Once composed, Magnus turned back and gave Alec a small but tender smile. He faced the troop of Shadowhunters and addressing the tallest and one standing next to Alec, Magnus held out his hand, hoping the male would surprise him and take it. “I want to thank you, very much, for coming to my aid. I don’t think we have been introduced but I am, Magnus Bane.”
The tall blond smiled and reached out for Magnus’s hand, giving it a firm shake he gestured to Alec. “I’m Underhill, and it’s nice to meet Boss Man’s better half.”
Magnus’s brow shot up and he smiled at Alec’s scowl. Underhill seemed to take it in stride though. Magnus looked at the other Shadowhunters and met quite a few appraising but not judgmental stares. “Thank you all, for your aid.” He smiled and nodded at the group. He was thrilled when he got a few smiles in return and many curious eyes swung from him to Alec and back again. Magnus realized that they were very interested in their commander’s boyfriend. Magnus’s smile grew as did Alec’s scowl.
Underhill ignored his boss and addressed Magnus, turning a serious blue gaze on him. “Alec might have ordered us here, but we would have still come if he just asked. We all know how much help you have given the New York Institute and it’s Shadowhunters. Besides, our generation won’t make the same mistakes as the previous, there will be no new Circle.”
Magnus was once more overcome with emotion. He could tell Alexander was touched as well. Magnus had seen lots of nods of agreement to Underhill’s words. He graced them all with a smile. “My sincerest thanks,” He then, much to Alec’s annoyance, proceeded to introduce himself and shake hands with each and every Shadowhunter that had come to his aid. Finally, having enough, Alec pulled Magnus to the side.
“I’d like for you to come back to the institute with us, at least until I can leave for the night.” Alec continued before Magnus could object. “I know you can handle Lorenzo and his henchmen, but I’d feel better if you didn’t have to.” Alec gave his hands a gentle squeeze, and Magnus didn’t have the heart to deny him.
“Alright, Alexander.” Magnus opened a portal and he followed the Shadowhunters into the Institute.
~
Immediately Magnus was pulled into Isabelle’s arms. He returned the hug and laughed at her greeting. “Now my dear, you know your brother was riding to my rescue, no need to fret.” She pulled back with a laugh.
“Well, I wasn’t a 100% sure that you wouldn’t start shooting magic first and asking questions later at a troop of Shadowhunters descending into your home!”
Magnus laughed, “With Alexander leading the charge I had no worries.”
Alec called Izzy over to where he was handing out orders and spoke with her for several minutes before making his way over to Magnus. “I asked Izzy to take over, come with me to my office.”
“Lead on Alexander, and I will follow.” Magnus gave a cheeky grin at Alec’s eye roll.
“You’re in a mood tonight,” he grumbled heading to his office.
Magnus intently checked out Alec’s ass as he walked in front of him. “Yes dear, I know.”
Once inside, Alec closed the door and immediately grabbed Magnus and hugged him tightly. Magnus could feel the slight trembling in Alec’s arms. “Whoa, its okay, I’m okay.” Magnus let Alec hold him as tightly as he needed; he just tucked his face into Alec’s neck and breathed him in. Finally, Alec released him and made his way over to his desk, collapsing into his chair, he rubbed a weary hand across his face. Magnus felt for him, they had not stopped not even for a moment since Lilith descended upon them.
Magnus was about to speak when the door opened and Isabelle came in carrying a tray. She placed it on the desk and handed Alec a cup of coffee. He eyed it for a second before looking at her, “did you make this?” Magnus laughed at Izzy’s scowl, so like her brothers. “No, smart ass,” she responded. He laughed even harder as Alec eagerly picked the cup up and took a sip.
With a dirty look at her brother, she handed Magnus a cup of tea, before addressing him. “So what happened? I wasn’t here but heard that Lorenzo Rey came here demanding to know if you were here and telling Alec he needed to turn you over to him.”
Magnus sighed and with a great dramatic pause, “Well my dear, looks like now I am the one standing trial. Let’s hope that my verdict isn’t the same.”
“Trial!” Izzy almost yelled. “For what?” she demanded.
Alec spoke up before Magnus could answer. “Oh, Lorenzo had a list of interesting charges against Magnus, such as, treason against the Warlocks and insubordination.”
Izzy turned and pinned Magnus with a look he had only seen her use on her brother. “What’d you do?” she charged.
Magnus sat up straighter with his own scowl. “What do you mean, what did I do! I’ll have you know that arrogant horse’s ass refused to allow the Warlocks to help defeat Lilith!”
She eyed him a little suspiciously. “How’d he get insubordination out of that?”
Magnus almost pouted. “Well, I may have gotten into a magical fist-fight with him and perhaps kicked his ass.”
Alec’s bust out laughing at Izzy’s, “Magnus!” said in only that tone that a sister can deliver.
Magnus did now pout, he wanted to be a part of the Lightwood family, but not this part! He crossed his arms and slumped down into his chair. He shot Alec a look warning the other man that continued laughter would have consequences, such as sleeping on the sofa. Alec must have successfully read that on Magnus’s face because he shut up.
Izzy eyed them both for a moment before smiling. “Well, you are going to need an advocate, right?”
Alexander turned serious. “Yes, Magnus, you will need someone who knows the Accords backwards and forwards.”
The room was silent as each tried to think of someone who could fill that role for Magnus. “I got it!” Izzy suddenly shouted, causing both Alec and Magnus to jump a little in their chairs.
“Who?” Alec asked suspicion heavy in his voice.
“Mom,” she answered with a big smile.
Magnus sat up in shock, “Maryse?” he questioned in shock.
“Yes,” Izzy answered. “She would be perfect. Mom knows the Accords very well, and since she is technically not a Shadowhunter any longer, then the Warlocks can’t object.”
Magnus frowned and looked at Alec. “She makes a good argument. Maryse does know the Accords and she is one smart lady. I could fill her in on all the Warlock laws, what there is of them.”
Both Alec and Isabelle looked at him in confusion. Magnus shook his head, what the Shadowhunters really knew of the Downworld wouldn’t fill one volume of all their Shadowhunter lore. “Warlocks don’t have a Clave to govern them. There is no governing body per se. Most areas are under the supervision and control of a High Warlock, they are considered the law. That is why the charges by Lorenzo, though I may joke, are quite serious.”
Alec did not look happy at Magnus’s words. “So our only hope is to find something in the Accords that he violated.”
Magnus nodded. “Add to that if we can show enough Nephilim disapproval, that may sway the Warlocks wanting to maintain good relations with the Shadowhunters.”
Isabelle looked worried for a second, before she plastered a smile for Magnus. “I’ll call mom and tell her we need her.”
“Thanks Izzy,” Alec gave his sister a smile. “Ask her if she can meet tomorrow at Magnus’s please.” Izzy nodded before going and giving Alec a kiss on the cheek, then she gave Magnus one as well. He patted her arm and smiled his thanks. She closed the door behind her and Magnus decided now was the time for some fun.
He straightened up and eyed Alexander with a wicked gleam in his eyes. Alec’s eyebrow rose in response, but he waited for Magnus to speak.
Magnus sprang up and moved towards his Shadowhunter. “Now Alexander, it’s time for some magic.”
Alec looked at him approaching, face carefully blank. “Is that some sort of sexual pun?”
Magnus smirked. “Why? Would you like it to be?”

Blood Moon Rising, Part 4: Alpha Business. Cole.
-solo-
*Quickly pulling on a pair of sweats, I walk barefooted out into the hall, shutting the door firmly behind me. Swiftly turning on Ethan and grabbing him by the shirt front and dragging him within inches of my face, I go full alpha and snarl,
* That’s my mate. Not a fling, not a one nighter. True. Mate. Lifetime. She’s still getting used to the idea and I don’t appreciate you doing crap that might make her have second thoughts about that plan. And you WILL forget you saw anything at all. She’s been through a lot of shit. She doesn’t need gossip spreading about her or to be embarrassed in front of my Security Chief. Got it?
*Pushing him back a little as I release him, he’s got the grace to look embarrassed.*
“I’m sorry, Alpha. She gets nothing but respect from me. And Cole….” The friend coming out over the submissive subordinate, “I’m glad it’s working out. You’ve been so adamant for so long that she was your mate and after all the crap we heard….”
*I clap his shoulder, the old friend taking over from the Alpha, and answer gruffly,*
Me too. You need to forget all the rumors you heard. She wasn’t complicit in her old man’s scams and he beat the hell of her for years to get compliance. If the injuries she had when we took her are anything to go by, she never quit trying to fight in her own way. That’s a hard thing when you’re raised like she was. But she’s got spine, Ethan. There’s character there, and courage. When she gets her legs under her, there will be no doubt she is my alpha mate. Now, how’s our man? Who is it and what happened?
*Ethan goes into report mode, his dark eyes sparking .* “Angel. He’s got a concussion, dislocated shoulder and broken arm. He and Kier were patrolling the northern perimeter when they got jumped. The rogues came from downwind of them, keeping our boys from scenting them. When the wind died down they must have decided it was an opportunity and worked their way behind them. They went for Angelo first. He didn’t even have time to shift. One of the rogues hit him on the back of the head with a tree branch. Keir shifted and took out that one’s throat, but there were two others. They had guns, but Keir’s a cagey old wolf. He took a bullet graze while he was covering Ange’s body but still kept them at bay until they suddenly decided to shift and run.”
*Goddess damn it, Angel’s a rookie, barely 20.*
Why were both our men in human form? They should have been paired with one in wolf form, one human. And why did the other two run? Did they run out of ammo?
*Ethan brushes back his hair ruefully* “Angel’s still learning the ropes. He started out as wolf with Keir running the show, but he has to shift back to human every so often for Keir to point out where he needs to improve so he can make the adjustments immediately and explain how that works with the human form’s role. There’s a difference between straight out hunting and patrolling.”
I’m aware. *It comes out dryly, as security patrols were my first assignment out of secondary. I had tended to be too aggressive, the way I would be on a hunt. Keir had been my trainer, too, and had employed similar techniques. Ethan nodded and continued.*
“The north perimeter is normally isolated enough to train that way without incident. The other side of the mountain is a sheer cliff. Nobody comes in that way.”
Until now. Why now, is the question. Maybe if we catch one alive we can find out. Get Keir and two other’s. I’ll meet you at the motor pool and we’ll take Jeeps to the trailhead on the north side. And pick the best noses you’ve got. We’re going hunting.
“You think they’re still there?” *Ethan’s dubious tone has me smiling.*
I admit the odds are slim, but they had to get there somehow. The mountain side is impenetrable unless you’re a mountain goat and even then I’d lay odds on having roast goat for dinner. Keir and Angel would have seen a vehicle or scented them if they’d come in through the trailhead. That means they either came from the east or west and we can track ‘em. I want to know how they got around the patrols in those areas so we can plug the holes. They shifted, which will make their scent even stronger, so once Keir identifies it for us, I’ll have it too and I want to know what those fuckers smell like. Because, *grimly* I /will/ find them sooner or later and a public example needs to be made of what happens to wolves that trespass on Blood Moon. Now, *adjusting my face to something that won’t scare the crap out of Scarlett,* get moving while I grab a shirt and some shoes.
“And say goodbye to the little woman,” he ribs slyly.
*I respond with a backhanded thump on his chest,* When was the last time you went hunting without letting Tammy know? And if the answer to that isn’t ‘never’ I’m going to have to start giving strict lessons to the males in this pack about how to treat the females in their lives. I’m hearing that a lot of packs don’t seem to know how to treat their women. We are not gonna’ be one of them. You hear me?
*He just looks at me sheepishly.* “ ‘Never’ would be it. We all know better Alpha.”
*Nodding at him* Good to hear. And I have a second reason, beyond she’s my mate. She’s also going to be the female alpha. Some packs are Neanderthals that keep their females virtually imprisoned and their alphas treat their mates like property. That’s not Blood Moon. We’re starting this as I mean for us to go on, with respect for her status in this pack. She’s got a lot to learn, I’ll grant you, but she’s smart and motivated. She /will/ learn. And she’s already adapting to the roll. Just now she told me to go check on OUR soldier. Not mine. Ours. *giving a satisfied smile at that,*Now, get going, bud.
*He nods and walks away as I turn and open the door to the bedroom. She’s already dozed out on the bed. I hate to wake her, but I meant what I’d told Ethan. Respect for her as my mate and as female alpha of the pack begins today. Walking over to the bed and sitting on the edge, I place my hand on her shoulder.*
Baby, I need you to wake up. I need to talk to you for a minute.

Best Returning British TV Series 2021: the Most Anticipated Series Coming Back This Year
https://ift.tt/3ohYR6W
There’s no getting around it; you’re going to see more of your TV than your friends and loved ones over the next few months. That being so, it’s lucky that there continues to be still so bloody much of the stuff, despite Covid-19’s best efforts to shut it all down. They might have been delayed, they might have been curtailed, but they weren’t stopped. Returning British TV shows are on their way. The horizon is filled with them, gambolling like lambs over the fields and into your living room.
There’s comedy and drama and crime thrillers arriving by the lorryload, and sci-fi and fantasy coming by the… much smaller lorryload. (More of a small van for returning British sci-fi and fantasy this year, but check out the new titles coming soon.)
We’ll keep this list updated as soon as more details are announced and release dates are confirmed.
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 (January 8th)
Based on Deborah Harkness’ All Souls trilogy about the forbidden love between a powerful witch and a centuries-old vampire, A Discovery Of Witches debuted on Sky in autumn 2018 (read our reviews here) and was renewed for series two and three almost straight away. The second run sees leads Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode (pictured) time-walking in Elizabethan England where they meet some famous faces of yore.
A Very English Scandal series 2
This one has yet to receive the official commission stamp, but it’s too good not to pass on a bit prematurely. Following on from the success of Russell T. Davies’ acclaimed three-part drama based on the real-life events of Lib Dem leader Jeremy Thorpe’s plot to have his lover Norman Scott murdered, the BBC plans to turn the ‘A Very English Scandal’ header into an anthology series following different true life events that rocked English society. As reported by Deadline in March 2020, Agatha Christie adapter extraordinaire Sarah Phelps is writing a three-part drama about a 1963 sex scandal involving the Duchess of Argyll, nicknamed ‘The Dirty Duchess.’
Back Season 2 (January)
Channel 4 has a second run of Simon Blackwell’s excellent sitcom Back on the way. The first series aired in autumn 2017 and was delayed while actor Robert Webb suffered an episode of ill health. The comedy reunites Peep Show’s David Mitchell and Webb as Stephen and Andrew, two erstwhile foster brothers whose neurotic rivalry boils up in the wake of Stephen’s father’s death. Louise Brealey also stars in the squirming, tragicomic delight. Stream the first series on All4 here.
Back To Life Season 2 (tbc)
Daisy Haggard and Laura Solon’s six part comedy-drama about a woman released from a lengthy prison sentence arrived in 2019 as one of a clutch of well-received original BBC shows. Haggard plays Miri, who returns to her childhood home and isn’t exactly welcomed back to the community with open arms, alongside Adeel Akhtar, Geraldine James, Liam Williams and more. It aired on Showtime over in the US, and will return for series two, which is currently being written.
Baptiste Season 2 (tbc)
Tcheky Karyo will return as grizzled French detective Julien Baptiste in a second series of the Williams Brothers’ Euro-set crime thriller. The character made his name on two series of The Missing, and earned his own BBC spin-off in spring 2019. (Read our spoiler-filled reviews here.) Series two sees Baptiste in Budapest on a search for the missing family of a British Ambassador, and co-stars Killing Eve‘s Fiona Shaw. Production on series two was halted in March 2020 because of the global spread of COVID-19, but got back up and running in the summer.
Breeders Season 2 (tbc)
Filming wrapped on the second series of Sky One parenting comedy Breeders just before Christmas 2020, so we can expect to see the new episodes later this year. The series, created by Simon Blackwell, Chris Addison and Martin Freeman, follows the child-based frustrations and catastrophes of Paul (Freeman) and Ally (Daisy Haggard), breaking taboos and punching you in the heart as it goes.
Britannia Season 3 (tbc)
Playwright Jez Butterworth and showrunner James Richardson first brought their trippy vision of warring Celts, mystical druids and invading Romans to Sky Atlantic in January 2018, and were quickly rewarded by a second series renewal. That run has already been and gone, leaving us awaiting the return of David Morrissey, Mackenzie Crook and co. for more bonkers ancient history, this time with added Sophie Okonedo!
Bulletproof: South Africa (January 20th)
After two hit series of crime drama Bulletproof on Sky One, police officers Bishop (Noel Clarke) and Pike (Ashley Walters) are back for a three-part special set in South Africa. The miniseries will see the crime-fighters’ attempt to relax on holiday scuppered when they become entangled with a dangerous kidnap plot.
Cobra Season 2 (tbc)
Robert Carlyle’s PM will return for another series of Sky One political thriller Cobra, written by The Tunnel and Strike: Cuckoo’s Calling‘s Ben Richards. The first series saw Carlyle’s character attempting to maintain power after solar flares took out Britain’s power grid and left the country in chaos as political factions vied for his position. What disaster will befall him in series two we don’t yet know…
Dead Pixels Season 2 (January)
Jon Brown’s gamer comedy debuted in March 2019 and was renewed four months later for series two. It stars Alexa Davies and Will Merrick as two die-hard MMORPG gamers (massive multiplayer online roleplay game, if you were wondering) and Charlotte Ritchie as their non-gaming flatmate. Here’s our interview with the creator on how other TV shows and films so often go wrong in their depiction of gaming and gamers.
Derry Girls Season 3 (tbc)
Lisa McGee’s terrific 90s-set Northern Irish comedy is set to return for a third series about the lives of secondary school students Erin, Orla, Clare, Michelle and James. Filming was due to begin in June 2020, but Covid-19 disrupted that schedule so we’ll have to wait a little longer for this one. Set in the 1990s, Derry Girls is a coming-of-age nostalgia-flood with characters to love and jokes to spare, in which crushes and friendship fall-outs are dealt with in the same breath as dangerous political turmoil. Cracker.
Doctor Who Season 13 (tbc)
Thanks to Covid-19, we’re getting a shorter run of eight episodes for Doctor Who‘s next series, which is confirmed to welcome new companion Dan to the TARDIS. Played by comedian-actor John Bishop, Dan will join Yaz and the Doctor as they continue their travels after saying goodbye to Ryan and Graham in New Year special ‘Revolution of the Daleks.’
Endeavour Season 8 (tbc)
A three-episode seventh series of Russell Lewis’ Inspector Morse prequel aired in February 2020, taking Morse into a new decade, as he and the team investigated the discovery of a body on a canal path on New Year’s Day 1970 (read our spoiler-filled reviews here). Shaun Evans not only returned as the lead, but also directed his second instalment of the long-running crime prequel. Series eight was due to begin filming in summer 2020 but it was pushed back until 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Gangs of London Season 2 (tbc)
The body count was high in Sky Atlantic’s ultra-stylish, ultra-violent 2020 thriller Gangs of London, but enough characters made it all the way through for a second season to be commissioned. When it eventually arrives, expect more expertly choreographed fight scenes, more international crime family intrigue and more betrayal. Co-creator Gareth Evans and his fellow directors gave us a taste of what to expect from the new run here.
Gentleman Jack Season 2 (tbc)
Renewed even before series one had aired, Sally Wainwright’s Gentleman Jack arrived on BBC One in the UK and HBO in the US with a bang. It stars Suranne Jones as real-life trail-blazing lesbian industrialist Anne Lister, with a cast including Sophie Rundle, Gemma Whelan and Rosie Cavaliero. It’s witty and dynamic, offering television a new 19th century hero at whom to marvel (here’s our episode one review). The eight-episode second series started filming in November 2020.
Ghosts Season 3 (tbc)
This tremendously fun comedy arrived in 2019 from the cast of Horrible Histories and Yonderland. Happily, it was renewed by the BBC for a third series, which guarantees us at least six more episodes of spectral shenanigans as Alison and Mike (alive) try to keep the ancestral family home going while dealing with an influx of housemates from history (dead). Speaking to Den of Geek in November 2020 about the terrific Christmas special, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, who plays Mike in the show, said they were hoping to film series three in spring 2021.
Guilt Season 2 (tbc)
BBC Scotland’s dark comedy-drama Guilt was a word-of-mouth hit that became an award-winning hit. Created by Neil Forsyth and starring Mark Bonnar, it was the story of two very different brothers attempting to cover up an unthinkable act. It’s currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer and will be joined by a second four-part series. Don’t get it confused with the US Amanda Knox series of the same name, which was cancelled.
Happy Valley Season 3 (tbc)
We’re cheating here because there is very little chance that 2021 will see the planned third and final series of Sally Wainwright’s excellent crime drama Happy Valley but it’s too good a drama not to include. The word seems to be that creator Wainwright and star Sarah Lancashire are keen to return for the final chapter in Sgt. Cawood’s story, but they’re waiting for young star Rhys Connah, who plays Cawood’s grandson Ryan, to get a bit older before tackling the story Wainwright wants to tell. Patience.
His Dark Materials Season 3 (tbc)
One final eight-episode season is on its way to BBC One and HBO to conclude this stunning adaptation of Philip Pullman’s book trilogy. Season three will tell the story of The Amber Spyglass, taking Lyra and Will to even more new worlds, where they’ll meet strange creatures and have to face a weighty choice. Pre-production began earlier in 2020, but the renewal announcement didn’t officially arrive until December. Here’s a taster of what we might expect to see.
Innocent Season 2 (tbc)
ITV’s Innocent was a four-part series about a miscarriage of justice that aired in May 2018. Its conclusion certainly didn’t call for a continuation so news of a second series renewal was a bit of a head-scratcher until it was revealed that creator Chris Lang (Unforgotten) was writing a whole new case and a whole new set of characters for the second run, now due to arrive this year.
Inside No. 9 Season 6 (tbc)
Knowing a good thing when it has one, BBC Two renewed Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith’s ingenious anthology series Inside No. 9 for a sixth and seventh series back in March. That means 12 new half-hour stories told with wit, originality and – every so often – a surprising amount of heart. Shearsmith Tweeted in November 2020 that the team were in rehearsals and planning to start filming on the new episodes imminently.
Killing Eve Season 4 (tbc)
Season four of mega-hit spy thriller Killing Eve was announced back before season three aired, so we know that it is coming, the question is: when? As the series films across various European locations, it’s been hit harder than many by the Covid-19 pandemic, and production was confirmed as being on an indefinite hiatus in October 2020, so don’t hold your breath for the usual April start date. As soon as things are up and running, we’ll let you know.

Line of Duty Season 6 (March)
Series five of Jed Mercurio’s hugely successful crime thriller concluded in May 2019, and, after a Covid-related five-month delay, filming wrapped on series six in November 2020. Line of Duty stars Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar as bent-copper-hunters AC-12, with each series welcoming a high-profile guest – previous series have welcomed Stephen Graham, Thandie Newton and Keeley Hawes, and this time around it’s Kelly Macdonald.
Man Like Mobeen Season 4 (tbc)
Announced on creator and star Guz Khan’s Instagram account in September 2020, as reported by Comedy.co.uk, hit BBC Three comedy Man Like Mobeen will return in 2021. Series three left fans on a serious cliffhanger that saw Mobeen doing time despite his best efforts to stay out of trouble and raise his younger sister. Catch up on BBC iPlayer here.
Marcella Season 3 (January)
ITV’s Marcella, co-created by The Killing’s Hans Rosenfeldt and starring Anna Friel, went out in a blaze of bonkers glory in 2018. Series two marked a turning point for the detective show, which went from domestic crime drama to full-blown comic-book spy thriller, complete with faked deaths, conspiracy, and secret investigative units. Series three has Marcella working undercover in a Belfast crime family. It’s already aired on Netflix around the world, and will finally arrive on ITV in January 2021.
McMafia Season 2 (tbc)
Starring James Norton as the conflicted British son of a Russian mob boss, McMafia was BBC One’s big, glamorous New Year drama for 2018. It was renewed for another eight episode season a good while back but updates on progress have been very thin on the ground since then Whenever it arrives, expect more double-crossing and high-stakes violence set against the backdrop of gangland London. Read our series one episode reviews here.
Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing Season 4 (tbc)
A fishing show may seem like a strange choice for this list of mostly high-profile dramas and comedies, but Gone Fishing deserves as much celebration as any of them. That’s thanks to Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse’s natural chemistry as two long-time friends, both of whom have been forced to contemplate their mortality in recent years due to serious heart problems. It’s fishing, yes, but it’s also chat, silliness and genuine human warmth.
Motherland Season 3 (tbc)
Sharon Horgan, Holly Walsh and Helen Linehan’s parenting comedy Motherland will be back for a third series. Starring Anna Maxwell-Martin (Good Omens, Line Of Duty), Lucy Punch, Paul Ready and Diane Morgan, it’s a caustic look at the demands of modern parenting and life in your thirties and forties that you don’t even need to have kids to relate to/stare at in rapt horror.
Peaky Blinders Season 6 (tbc)
Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight’s BBC Two crime saga following the ascendancy of Birmingham’s Shelby family in post-World War One England, is set to return for two further series, which should, if all goes to plan, take us all the way up to the outbreak of World War II. Series five aired in late summer 2019 and here’s all the news we have on series six, which was sadly forced to suspend production in March due to the global spread of Covid-19. Filming is due to resume in January 2021, so fingers crossed we’ll get the new series later this year.
Sex Education Season 3 (tbc)
Season three of Netflix’s celebrated high school comedy-drama went into production in September 2020, so there’ll be a little wait until the new episodes arrive on the streaming service. The show has won such an adoring fandom over its two seasons that they’ll wait as long as it takes to continue the stories of Otis, Eric, Maeve and of course, Gillian Anderson’s masterful Jean.
Staged Season 2 (January 4th)
A lot of people tried their best to make new TV under lockdown conditions last year, and some fared better than others. At the top of the comedy pile is Staged, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen as exaggerated versions of themselves, rehearsing a play on Zoom with a host of big name guest stars and plenty of laughs courtesy of their other halves Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg.
Stath Lets Flats Season 3
We waited too long to hear that Channel 4 was doing the sensible thing and renewing Jamie Demetriou’s excellent Stath Lets Flats for a third series. During that wait, the show won three Baftas and even more fans, securing its reputation as one of the best comedies around. According to cast-member Kiell Smith-Bynoe, who plays reluctant letting agent Dean, the plan is to start filming in summer 2021, if everybody’s schedules can match up.
Taboo Season 2 (tbc)
From Steven Knight, creator of the excellent Peaky Blinders, in collaboration with star Tom Hardy, Taboo presents a very different vision of Regency England to the traditional Jane Austen world of assembly balls and etiquette faux pas. It’s about James Delaney, an almost invincible, little bit magic, highly mysterious thorn in the side of the East India Company. Series one aired in early 2017, and as of summer 2019, Knight had finished six of the eight scripts for the second series. Here’s what we know so far.
Taskmaster Season 11 (tbc)
Joining the Taskmaster and little Alex Horne for series ten of Taskmaster – its first series on Channel 4 – were Daisy May Cooper, Johnny Vegas, Katherine Parkinson, Mawaan Rizwan and Richard Herring. Then came a New Year treat featuring all-new one-off contestants. In 2021, we’re due a full new series starring Charlotte Ritchie, Jamali Maddix, Lee Mack, Mike Wozniak and Sarah Kendall, plus a champion of champions miniseries.
Temple Season 2 (tbc)
Adapted from Norwegian series Valkyrien, Temple is the story of an underground medical facility run by a desperate surgeon and his apocalypse-prepping colleague. It stars Mark Strong, Carice Van Houten and Daniel Mays, and debuted on Sky One in autumn 2019. The series two renewal was announced as the series one finale aired, and the new episodes are expected to air in summer 2021. Read more about the series here.
The Bay Season 2 (January)
Daragh Carville’s Morecambe-set crime thriller returns with a new case for Morven Christie’s DS Lisa Armstrong and co. this year. The first series dealt with the disappearance of a set of teenage twins and shady goings-on in a picture-perfect coastal town, earning it the title of ‘the new Broadchurch’. Here’s our episode one review.
The Capture Season 2 (tbc)
Ben Chanan’s BBC One thriller The Capture was a high-stakes crime drama that tackled the question of what truth and innocence mean when video evidence can be so easily manipulated in the modern age. It starred Strike‘s Holliday Grainger, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them‘s Callum Turner, and was renewed for a second series in summer 2020.
The Crown Season 5 (tbc)
Olivia Colman took over from Clare Foy as HRH Elizabeth II in The Crown series three. The time jump saw Matt Smith replaced by Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip and Helena Bonham-Carter take the reins from Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret, with Gillian Anderson playing Margaret Thatcher. For season five, the palace welcomes Imelda Staunton (pictured) and Lesley Manville as the Windsor sisters.
The Last Kingdom Season 5 (tbc)
The Last Kingdom series five will adapt the next two books in Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories series: Warriors of the Storm and The Flame Bearer. Starring Alexander Dreymon as Viking-raised-Saxon Uhtred of Bebbenberg, it’s an action-packed historical drama filled with wit and characters to love. Read our spoiler-filled episode reviews and more.
This Time With Alan Partridge Season 2 (tbc)
Filming concluded on the second run of This Time With Alan Partridge in December 2020, so there shouldn’t be too long a wait for the new episodes to arrive on BBC One. Series two sees Norwich broadcasting veteran Alan established as the co-presenter of fictional magazine chat show This Time, following his gaffes on-screen and off. Susannah Fielding co-stars.
Unforgotten Season 4 (tbc)
Cassie and Sunny (played by Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar) return for a fourth series of ITV’s excellent cold case crime drama Unforgotten. What makes Chris Lang’s detective series stand out is its empathy—for its characters, for the victims, and often, for the killers themselves. The new series will take another decades-old case as its starting point, and no doubt tell another engrossing, affecting story led by excellent performances from a cast including Susan Lynch and Sheila Hancock.
War of the Worlds Season 2 (tbc)
FOX UK sci-fi War of the Worlds was one of the first TV dramas to restart filming after the enforced Covid-19 lockdown (it helps when your show is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the population has been more or less destroyed), so even with all the effects-heavy post-production required, we can expect it to arrive this year. It uses H.G. Wells’ story more as a jumping-off point than a bible, and developed into a poised and atmospheric sci-fi for adults. Read more about it here.
World on Fire Season 2 (tbc)
To the delight of fans following series one’s tense cliff-hanger ending, Peter Bowker’s WWII drama following multiple interconnected stories from around the world during the war, was recommissioned in November 2019. The stories of Harry (Jonah Hauer-King), Kasia (Zofia Wichlacz) and Lois (Julia Brown) will continue in the second run, alongside those of Lois’ conscientious objector father Douglas (Sean Bean) and Harry’s ice-cold mother Robina (Lesley Manville).
Year of the Rabbit Season 2 (tbc)
Detective Rabbit returns! Matt Berry, Susan Wokoma and Freddie Fox will be back for more Victorian crime-based comedy in a second series of Channel 4’s acclaimed Year Of The Rabbit. C4’s Head of Comedy Fiona McDermott describes the show, which is co-written by Matt Berry with Veep and Black Books‘ Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil, as “glorious, gutsy and audacious”, and you won’t hear any disagreement from us. Series one is currently available to stream on All4, and the six new episodes are expected to arrive this year.
Also returning:
Brassic Season 3 (tbc) – Joseph Gilgun’s Sky One comedy returns for a third run.
Code 404 Season 2 (tbc)– Stephen Graham and Daniel Mays are back on Sky One in this very British comedy take on RoboCop.
Don’t Forget the Driver Season 2 (tbc) The brilliant Toby Jones returns in this heartfelt seaside comedy drama.
Feel Good Season 2 (tbc) – Mae Martin’s autobiographically inspired comedy returns to Channel 4.
Hitmen Season 2 (tbc) – Mel and Sue will be back on Sky One for more paid-assassin larks.
King Gary Season 2 – Gary King will be ruling the crescent once again in this BBC One comedy.
I Am… Season 2 (tbc) – The Channel 4 female-fronted anthology drama returns with Suranne Jones among the cast.
Intelligence Season 2 (tbc) – David Schwimmer and Nick Mohammed are back on Sky One for more tech-spy comedy.
State of the Union Season 2 (tbc) – Nick Hornby is creating two new characters who meet up weekly before their marriage counselling sessions for this BBC Two comedy-drama.
The Cockfields Season 2 (tbc) – This Gold original comedy starring Joe Wilkinson and Diane Morgan will return, but sadly, without comedian Bobby Ball, who passed away in 2020.

Imagine p 4: All fun and games until...
You run, and as if you’re in some lame horror movie you hear his steps behind you, and for a second, you feel afraid. Then, you feel stupid, it’s not a monster behind you, it’s only Bill. Still, you want to get away from him, from the feeling you had when he was staring you down and for the moment you thought he might kiss you..but most of all, from the fact you would have let him.
You run into the kitchen, forgetting you are still wet from the pool, and your feet scramble on the tiles. Too late, you’re down, hitting your head on the side of a cabinet as you go.
“Shit!” you exclaim, just a Bill catches up with you and crowds over you on the floor, expletives also running out his mouth.
“Fan! Helvete, älskling, are you all right?”
You try to nod, touching your forehead to see blood and gasping a bit despite yourself. Bill groans at the sight and lifts you bodily off the floor and onto the kitchen counter. Well, you weren’t wrong about him being strong then.
“Let me take a look…” He frowns into your face, standing between your open legs and checking to see how badly you're hurt.
He looks distraught and you want to comfort him. “It’s nothing…”
He scoffs, still searching your face for reassurance. His wet hands grip your thighs to keep you steady on the counter, and as his shock clears you can see the realisation of your proximity, and the fact you are both wearing next to nothing seep into his eyes.
“I suppose Alex really shouldn’t have left me alone huh?” You try to joke.
“I’m beginning to see you were right about that..” comes a voice, and you look over Bill’s shoulder to see your husband walk into the kitchen, taking in the scene before him.
Bill’s eyes widen at the sound of his brother’s voice but he stays holding your legs and looking deep in your eyes to check you are OK a few moments longer before turning to look at Alex, his chin tilted high and nose in the air.
Arrogant little one, you think, trying to follow his lead and not to panic.
“Big brother..” Bill purrs “We missed you. Come take care of your lady…I’ve got to go..”
Finally, Bill releases you, in time for Alex to take his place. Alex pushes him aside a little roughly, causing Bill to hit his back against the counter. You see him wince, but he says nothing, moving out the room without another glance at you.
You try not to feel hurt, take a deep breath, and look up into the confused blue eyes of your husband.
Alex scans your face, all business, and grabs a cloth to dab at the blood on your forehead.
“You wanna tell me what happened?” He seems exasperated with you rather than concerned, and although you know you can handle it, you feel hurt again. Damn these Skarsgårds you think.
“I just fell that’s all…”
Alex lifts you into his arms off the counter and towards your bedroom. You can see his suitcase is standing in the hall where he left it.
“How come you’re back anyway?” You question him, trying not to wonder where Bill was and if he was OK.
Alex sighs. “I thought I’d come back early and surprise you..since you were so pissed off with me. Seems like I timed it just right.”
“What do you mean?” You dart back, letting him deposit you on the bed, still feeling a little dazed from your fall.
“Well with you and Bill…looked like one of you was about to kill the other..”
You are about to protest but realise you couldn’t explain even if you wanted to.
“It’s good you’re back then Alex…” You look at him properly then, he looks exhausted from travelling hours to get home, and you feel almost guilty. “You look beat.”
Alex sighs again, moving to check your face. “The bleeding’s stopped.” he kisses you, and you wrap your arms around him, needing some comfort.
“You’re cold and wet darling..” he reminds you. “Have a shower…I’ll be here..”
You nod, actually starting to shiver and moving gratefully under the warm water. You catch sight of your face in the mirror as you leave, face pale and shocked, the slash of red on your temple an unavoidable proof that yes, that all did just happen.
Re-entering the bedroom you hear snores coming from the direction of the bed. Alex, exhausted from driving is passed out, still in his clothes. So much for a romantic reunion you think, but part of you is relieved.
Only because I still feel dizzy you mutter to yourself, the guilty feeling creeping back.
Your phone dings and you move to silence it, not wanting to disturb Alex, and you quickly check the text.
Can you come outside? I need to see you, B x

Waking up.
Prompt: What if mike was in the convenience store visiting his cousin ( store manager) when El , Kali and the gang were there?
Mike’s POV
It was a cold blustery November afternoon, and I was in Chicago visiting my cousin Nate.
My mom wanted me to, spend more time with my cousins since I rarely saw them since they were much older than me. My mom had paid for me to come out here for the next two days just to see the place my cousin worked. I wasn’t too thrilled, being that there was a campaign this weekend and now it had to be rescheduled. Today was my first full day in Chicago. Yesterday I had ridden in on a train from Hawkins , and didn’t get in till late.
Today I was helping Nate at the store, for no pay. Yes, I wasn’t an employee of his BUT I'm his cousin so that counts for something right?. well, it didn’t, cause I was working a full day, but getting paid nothing. I had to sweep and even do the bathroom, like how gross is that. However, it did have its perks, being a wheeler. Nate let me eat whatever snacks I wanted from the store no charge. I also was allowed to take snacks back to Hawkins for free. SO I guess that was the only perk.
“ Hey Mike, would you mind watching the cash register? , I have to go do some sorting in the back for a bit. “ Nate said as he handed me the instructions. I nodded and he went back to the sorting room. It felt weird, being in a whole convenience store and being in charge for a bit. There was a little anxiety inside of me but mostly excitement. I was going to get the experience I needed if I wanted to ever own a store. The first lady I check out has a little boy with her. She is buying some snacks for her son’s birthday party. He looks up at me with the widest smile I had ever seen. I grab a lollipop from behind the counter and hand it to him.
“ Here you go buddy! I hope you have an amazing birthday” I say smiling at him and his mom. They soon leave but not without a huge thank you. After them, a few other people came in, some nice and some in a mood. It had only been 30 minutes into the hour, but it felt like I had seen 20+ people. I was just about to finish a crossword puzzle in the newspaper when 5 people walked in. They all looked punk rock, and I said hello, but no reply. They went in fast and through the aisles slowly. I saw them each pick out food that they wanted to take to eat. One girl who had slicked back hair went for eggos. The way she had grabbed 4 boxes in a matter of seconds made me think she was being starved.
Flashback
“ got you breakfast,” I said while handing the girl a eggo.
She hesitantly took a bite. The look on her face looked like she tolerated it.
“ So listen this is going to sound a little weird, but I just need you to go out there, then go to the front door and ring the doorbell. My mom will answer and you’ll tell her you're lost and that you need help, BUT whatever you do you cant tell her about last night or that you know me, understand” I say with reassurance. I told her that we would just pretend to meet again and things would be okay. The girl who I can't think of the name nodded and said “ No” while taking another bite of her eggo.
flashback over
Something about that girl with the slicked back hair seemed slightly familiar, but I couldn’t think of what it was.
Meanwhile, the girl with a half shaved head and black long hair saw me staring. “ Hey look, kid, we don’t want no trouble, but we just need a few things,” she said while talking in a mysterious tone. She had in her hands two apples. Slowly I saw her grab a gun from the back of her pocket out of the corner of my eye. She slowly starts to bring it up to me.
“Hey listen, mam, I don’t want any problems either. Please lower your guns and put away anything you aren’t going to pay for” I say in a serious tone.
The girl soon asked” who are you anyway, isn’t Nate the owner of this store, you are kind of making this escape too easy” she says laughing.
“ I am Mike , Mike Wheeler, and I want to help you, just let me pay for a few of your things at least. “ I say in a desperate tone.
EL’s POV
“ I want to help you”, I looked over at the boy behind the counter while holding my eggos in one arm. In that moment my mind sensed something, something familiar about this young man.
Flashback
“ what were we supposed to do leave her in the rain Lucas?” I hear the boy say as he has his arm around me. I see bikes being parked and being in Indiana.
“ uh yes, we went out to find will not, a girl, look at her she looks extremely sketchy,” one of the other boys says.
“ does not, she looks afraid and lost, I want to help her, I will help her,” the first boy says while his arm is around me, opening the basement door before going inside.
Flashback over
I wonder why I just thought of those boys, who I barely remember because this boy had nothing to do with that situation.
“ You let us go without telling Nate and we spare your life, sound like a deal?” Kali says as she raises the gun to his chest. She is still standing a bit away from him but, slowly moves closer.
“ Please let me help you, there must be someone you can contact to help you pay for these “ he pleads as he slowly faces the fact that in seconds he could be dead. Then I see him turn to me. His brown eyes meet mine. “ Please, how about you?, please can you let me pay for the eggos ,I just want to help you”, he says slowly reaching out his hand hoping for mine in return. I then look down and slowly walk past him and over to Kali. As much as this boy seemed to have good intentions, I didn’t know him and he didn’t know me.
Then Kali whispers in my hear” Good Job Jane, good job” and I just shrug, hoping I made the right choice for me, for once I hoped I made a good choice. Once I was by her side the rest of the gang members came over. They stood behind us. Kali now held the gun up to Mike, just a tad lower than his chest.
“ any last words Mike?, “ Kali says only seconds before pulling the trigger.
He doesn’t even get to say anything before the bullet goes straight for his lower abdomen. He falls, blood pouring out.He is unable to get up, and his face shows that he is in a horrible pain.
Kali then signals for us to move now with our food. Though I am frozen in fear. My legs won’t move. Tears pricked my eyes as I look at him, my eyes finally meeting his. I stare at them. I then slowly go into his mind. He is thinking about his family and his friends. They all seemed so kind. But then this girl popped into his mind. She also had brown eyes and a shaved head. She looked a lot like herself, but she knew it couldn’t be her.
I soon got out of his mind and decided I couldn’t just leave him. I would regret it if I left him here to die. I drop all my eggos and go to his side.
Kali called me, but I said no multiple times and then they left me with him.
I sat by Mike, moving his head onto my legs I then take off my arm bandanas and put them on his wound.
“it's going to be okay, I will call the police and get help. “ I tell him before getting the phone with one simple levitation. I slowly tell them what happened, that the cashier Mike had been hurt and how a gang had gotten away. i then notice tears forming in my eyes.
“ I just um, wanted to say I’m sorry, for not taking the help you offered,” I say looking at him.
“ it is just that, I’ve always fended for myself, I mean at first I liked being with the gang, I didn’t feel alone, but today it’s over. I know I am better off alone than with horrible people who kill for fun” I say tears now rushing down my face.
Before we knew it the ambulance arrived. I was still holding onto his hand. He gave me a squeeze. “ Thank you and I’m so sorry you felt alone, you sound like a very strong and capable girl, that deserves better friends,” he tells me while giving me a small smile.
I gave him a smile back. In all my years, maybe I had gotten the meaning of friend wrong. I just assumed that a friend was someone who you did everything with, including killing. In the past, few months I had killed a bunch. A lot of the victims were probably good people as well. But Kali convinced me to because I had been abused so much in my earlier years.
But hearing Mike say those words to me, made me realize that a friend shouldn’t manipulate you. They should be there for you and listen to you and your feelings. That he was right, I was better than this and that I needed a clean start.
“ Hey Mike, um I don’t actually now have anywhere to go, do you know of a shelter or just somewhere safe where I could lay low for a bit.” I asked, not wanting to ask for much.
“ Oh and by the way, my name is Jane, Jane Ives.” I say to him while the paramedics take him onto a stretcher. I then slowly released my hand from his, when he grabbed it right back. “ come with me, you’re the only one who knows what happened” he says. I then look at the paramedics and they say I can go since they assume i was his “friend”. I slowly go in and sit on the small bench next to him as they close the door.
I slowly take back his hand in mine. While looking down at Mike who is now sleeping. I ask myself the following questions. Why do I suddenly feel like he needs MY help?. And more importantly, why does he seem so familiar.

7 - 24hrs After Holly Wakes Up
SL Cont….
Max has just been staring at me with a smirk on his face, not making a move to do anything. My hands are on my lap with my fingers pulling at the hem of my shirt just do be doing something. My cell has rang a couple of times but has gone straight to voicemail as Max checks the caller id, quizzing me on every name that shows up. When I wouldn’t give a straight answer he would hit me, not hard enough to draw blood, but hard enough to leave a mark. The only person that seems to have continuously tried to call was Sally. Every time she called there would be a grumble from Max, “She’s a persistent little fuck”. It had gotten to a point where he threw the phone out the window. Walking back over to me he runs his finger down my cheek, I try not to move but instinct has me turning my cheek away earning another thump from Max. Laughing he grabs his chair placing it backwards in front of me so he can straddle it while leaning on the top of the chair. “You live a very boring life Lily, when I was following you there were times where I could predict what you were going to do or where you were going to go. A creature of habit shall we say.” I try to get words out but struggled, eventually I managed to ask him how long he has been following me. A malicious tone to his voice he answered me “Oh, not long but it did take me a long time to track you down, you hid yourself very well, once I tracked down Holly, I knew it wouldn’t be too long more before I tracked you down. You ruined my life Lily, I lost everything.” He stares at me his eyes black as he tells me everything. “I was on the way to the top with one of the best teams in the NFL but you, (waving his finger, his anger rising) YOU, had to go and fuck it all up with your little sob story. The funny thing was, nobody believed you but yet, (he picks the knife from the table twirling it around in his fingers as he spoke) I am still the one who lost everything.” He goes to trace the knife down my cheek but I push his hand away, making him angry. “You shouldn’t have done that.” Standing up he kicks the chair out of his way, I watch it as it crashes across the room, he grabs me by the wrist and pulls me towards him, twisting me so that my hand is behind my back and he has me pulled against his chest. He traces the knife down my cheek and I try to pull his hand away with my free hand but he is just too strong for me. He nuzzles his face into my neck and I feel his tongue lick my neck. Squirming I try to break away but I can’t seem to loosen his grip. He begins walking towards the bedroom all the time keeping a hold of me. Terror begins to creep in knowing what he is going to do or try to do. I can’t allow that, not again, not when I can fight back. As he is pushing me down the hall I spot a vase on the small table. It’s not very big but if I can just grab it, it may bide me some time. Stretching out my free arm as he pushes me down the hall I manage to grab the vase and without thinking I aim for his head. Unable to hit him as hard as I would like I manage to break away as his hold loosens while he registered what just happened. I make a run for the apartment door but I am quickly on the floor as he grabs me by the ankle knocking me over. Unable to find something to grip as he tries to pull me back I kick back and manage to kick him square in the nose freeing my ankle as he reaches for his nose. “YOU FUCKING BITCH, I’M GOING TO KILL YOU FOR THAT”
I scrambled to my feet and just about reached to door before Max grabbed me again. He had me held close but I was able to raise my knee and get him right between the legs. Grunting in pain he released me again and this time I managed to get to the door. Opening it I ran towards the elevator pushing the butting but nothing was happening. I ran to the stairwell and began to run down as quickly as I could. I didn’t know how far I had gotten before I ran into the hard chest of someone coming against me. “Miss are you OK” Panting heavily I quickly glance behind me and the man notices where I’m looking, its only then I realise that I’m after running into a police officer who then tells me to keep going and radios to his partner and pulls out his gun as he starts up the stairs again. I’m almost at the lobby when I hear shouting behind me and then two gun shots. Once in the lobby there’s more police and I’m led outside by a female officer who keeps telling me that I’m OK and I’m safe. She leads me over to an EMT who wants to check me over. I’m sitting on the steps when I hear the commotion, looking up I see two officers fighting with Max as they try to the other ambulance. He has blood coming from one leg and I assume it’s an injury from the gunshots that I heard. A detective comes over and begins to ask me questions. The general ones, I’m not really listening when the name Holly breaks me from my trance. “Holly”, I look at the detective and speaking very quickly and panic in my voice, “Holly, is she OK, he said he hurt her”. The detective responds in a soothing voice, “She’s still in the hospital but she is recovering, in fact if it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t be here. After she woke up and was being interviewed by our colleagues in San Francisco about what happened, she told them about your history with Max and what he was planning to do. It looks like we made it here just in time. Relief fills me knowing that Holly is OK and I look over to where they have Max and ask the detective what happens next. He tells me that they should have enough to hold him. As he is about to leave a young police officer comes over carrying what looks to be a duffel bag. “Detective you have to see this”. The detective walks away and I can only just make out what they are taking out of the bag. It looks like duct tape, tie wraps and a gun. I can feel my face pale as the detective walks back over placing his hand on my shoulder to tell me how lucky I am showing me the contents of the bag.
I hear someone calling my name and I look past the detective to see Sally running towards us, pushing people out of her way but is held back by a police officer, I nod to the detective telling him that it’s OK, as Sally is released and comes over. “Lily what happened?” She’s looking me over and I can see concern in her eyes. “Just some bruises and broken ribs”. The detective explains what has happened and asks Sally if I have somewhere to stay. Sally insists that I stay with her tonight and she will bring me down to the station in the morning so I can give my full statement. Once he is happy the detective walks away and Sally helps me to her car so we can go to her apartment.
