i've had this thing for a little while where i'm like. fuck! a lot of the artists i look up to have really thin, precise lineart. i need to start using thinner lines so i can get the accuracy and detail and realistic, correct anatomy, and it makes you have to get better at colors because the color has to carry the piece more when the lines give them more space between, and it's made me a lot more critical with my work because i instinctively go for big thick linework, and my usual strokes look sloppy and disconnected when i use thin lines.

and then i realized it was also making me miserable and not want to work on anything, which was really getting in the way of doing art in the first place. so i cranked that brush size back up and it just feels good and easy and flowing again, and like. yknow. there's working towards improvement and then there's stalling yourself out because you're too focused on arbitrary measures. i think i'm gonna be happy with my thick lines for a bit.

#ignore me #like there ARE areas i want to improve in and i think i need to do some focused studies to get there #but the key here is that i was trying to just switch styles and techniques suddenly and beating myself up for not getting it #for just my casual art that i'm doing i can chiiiiill the fuck out. and i can do some studies and practice more intentionally #in a way that doesn't ruin the whole aspect of drawing for me #i do want to work on my colors because i do keep them fairly simple most of the time but eeehhhh. i also want to Like Drawing #i'm not gonna be a professional artist i'm very much a hobbyist. i need to keep liking my hobby to actually do it.#god i'm so chatty lately. stuck in my damn room!!!! i wanna talk!!

what is your favorite thing about charles and your favorite thing about erik? separately, as in what you like most about their characters :]

a devious question this one is, my friend!!! it's hard enough for me to explain my thoughts cohesively, but having to pick ONE thing i particularly love is difficult. with characters like charles and erik, theres been so much done with their characters over the decades and so they have so many components to them that make them so interesting and fun to observe. BUT I TRY FOR YOU TODAY. under the cut i kinda ramble and the size of this text box makin me anxious

i think if i were to be simple and broad, what i enjoy most about charles is his determination to help others, even if he isn't really thanked and/or if people don't even like him. ofc, this isn't to say he hasn't done wrong- to be honest, the fact he does wrong/questionable things at times is another aspect of him i really enjoy, maybe because- broadly speaking- he's meant to be altruistic (intent vs outcome and all that). i don't know if that's super exciting to most people, but it is for me

as for erik, my reason for liking him is easier to explain tbh. To Be Simple And Broad, his progression from villain to antihero over the decades has been fun to observe (as much as i have so far anyhow) and analyze. i think to be a bit more specific, him using his rage and pain as justifications for his villainous actions is definitely what compels me the most: hurt people hurt and the sort, an idea i've always found interesting (something something vicious cycles and the like). yet now, he recognizes this wasn't really. A Just Thing To Do and is beginning to change that, which i enjoy

I think Kiryu can probably handle spice decently, if only because he eats out so much when he's not at the orphanage. Ichiban's spice tolerance was definitely gone after 18 years of prison food, but he could have built it up since then. I think between prison and the mountain village Saejima has gotten so used to miniman seasonings that he can't handle spice at all. Adachi thinks eating super spicy food is a good way to impress a date so he's built up a lot of tolerance but nowadays it tends to give him heartburn.

remembering that adachi wanted ichi to eat spicy food to impress saeko alone makes this assessment 100% real and accurate im so grateful to have scholars in my inbox to indulge my impulse posting

Not having new linear games post 5 its judt that sims 4 wasnt even supposed to Be The Sims 4 it was a last minute pivot and the base code is so outdated and was broken On launch so like. i just wish we could have the final actual sims game be like. one that was always intented to be a major sims release AND be intended to be so long term . yk

Ooh major graphical updates whatever if sims 5 was announced and they looked photorealizstic id hurl i wouldnt play #it #my ideal would ig be sims 4 with a touch more realism style wise. if this makes sense #like its a bittt too cartoony for me but i like the like. Clay hair or whatever SJFNFJ. and i think having it be simple in basegame means #you can customize it easier + itd run better on more pcs #so im fine eith that. i would nottt want it more cartoony #i also like. I understand the sims is like. an all ages game i do sometimes wish that the animations in 4 were a bit toned down #like i dont mind silly goofy wacky stuff i think its fun and like. #so i've found the perfect prompt list for an olli/allu fic advent calendar sorta thing #but i'm too intimidated by my own expectations and ridiculously high standards to even start writing any of them 😭#honestly these prompts are so insanely cute and fit olli/allu PERFECTLY #like. i'm actually having trouble deciding which ones to use because i want to write them all 🥺💞#but i'm so so scared that i'll just end up writing the same (boring) story over again for 24 times 😔#i wish i could just write without thinking and trying so hard to write a literary masterpiece #when i KNOW it's alright if it's just a silly little story about my blorbos #that's perfectly enough and i know this but my brain's just not having it 😩#also if i were to write 24 independent fics i'd have to keep them short and simple but. that's not how i do fics. unfortunately (for me)#to overcome this i guess one option would be to write just one longer piece with 24 chapters #and somehow try to include the prompt of the day in each chapter 🤔#but i don't want to make this even more complicated to myself lol especially because i'm planning to write AUs for a couple of the prompts #i REALLY want to do prompts (of any kind!!) but i'm just so scared of stressing myself out to another months-long writer's block 😭#fair enough the last time that happened (last winter/spring) i was in a shitty place mentally anyway #and so far i've been happy to be writing on random bursts of inspiration. that's how it's the easiest for me. the words just...flow out #i'm so insanely jealous of anyone who can just create stuff when given any prompt 😭#y'all are super humans to me how do you do it pls spill your secrets #and anyone tempted to comfort me by saying i shouldn't stress myself over this and that i don't have to write anything i don't wanna write:#i knoooooowwww and i appreactiate the sentiment but the thing is i actually DO want to write these prompts 😭#in theory at least. because they really are cute as fuck wth 🥺#the problem is that i can't /force/ myself to write something at the snap of my fingers without a clear idea besides the prompt #and also because i know it can take me days to finish even one story let alone 24 💀#so to even START on this project is a little intimidating 🫣#i just fear i won't have the patience :(#and when i realise i won't be able to finish the project i'll become frustrated with myself #if only i knew how to write shorter one-scenes in order to not tire myself out #but often i find those kind of fics somehow...unsatisfying :(#i'm just a sucker for crafting the context/background for stories. a little flesh around the bones if you will 🤧#okay that's all now i'm gonna go stare at a wall while doing nothing useful for the rest of the weekend byeeee #if you read this far i hope you're having a nice saturday

#cherry makes/repairs plushes specifically #but she'd be called the ultimate seamstress just cause it flows nicer #i mean she Can sew clothes too she just usually doesn't #man she looks weird without her ears LMAOOOOO #i don't entirely love the colour of peggy's overalls #plus there should really be more colour variation on her tools #but i was trying to keep the palette simple rip #and i didn't know what other colour to do for the overalls lmao #i did go v hard on her tho #i kinda forgot i was supposed to be doing rough sketches at that point and just went all out AKJSNVDFN #francine's outfit is unoriginal of course but it'd fit well in the setting #sanit's smock would ideally come down lower but i rly like the little manicure set on the belt and didn't wanna hide it lol #and then for alika i rly didn't want to change her fit too much #but i made it more clearly basketball themed #i'd like her to have some bracelets too but her sleeves would cover em so #anyway! i should have been sketching other things in the time it took to make these but i had fun!

#lemon man talks #I’m not gonna main tag this because I don’t wanna be burned at the stake #But #as a non binary person whose favorite character is Mizuki #I think you guys need to respect non binary characters #Don’t erase their identity for the sake of your own opinions #Besides the pjsk fandom I’ve seen this happen in the utdr and oneshot fandoms #And I’m sure there’s waaayy more fandoms that misgender non binary characters like that #I know Mizuki present feminine and can wear the same costumes as the female characters in the game #And sometimes other characters use she/her for them #But most of the time the game goes out of its way to avoid using gendered terms for Mizuki #And when it does it’s usually neutral ones #Most of the times they’re referred to as they/them #And their gender is left ambiguous on purpose #I don’t think it’s right to assume their gender like that man idk #Most of their personal conflicts revolve around their gender #So I don’t think we should assume things like that #I just think it’s not that simple you know!! As someone who has very similar experiences!!!
