Progress report ! ૮ ºﻌºა ✨ kind of a work-in-progress diary for myself. v indulgent.

intense world of dick terrifying - goin good! got a main character, some supporting characters, figuring out the big rivalry today. Gotta figure out a format. I was thinking of basing it off of the Day at the Airport book bc it's only about 11 spreads but there's a lot going on on each one. Could leave it a comic but I also want it to be printable hmm catnips cantrips chooseyer-by-mail test - learning a lot! the world-building has been reallllllly fun - like the kind of fun where you want to go a little deeper bc you like it not bc you have to. perfect situation. Gotta resolve the mix between the DM roleplay and the actual postcards. Made and branded a whole gmail account and character to handle lost postcards - Pizza Kentucky III of the Isekai Post Office. Haven't been keeping up with the blog. But the blog is supposed to be more of a holding container than a 'thing'. One thing I did not expect to be learning was spreadsheets. Keeping track of names and addresses and choices and paths has given me a new perspective on pacing and structure. Also? Been a great excuse to finally play with UV epoxy and it's so straightforward that I'm mad it took me so long. media thats not just webcomics - dunmeshi is out!!! Laios my beloved. Still afraid to find and read Kotteri's Veil bc it will make me too feelings. Started reading books I loved as a kid (Redwall!!!) and some story craft books (found an NPR list somewhere) WRHP s2 - started to feel like work but changing up the backgrounds freed me up, feels fun again Sorcerer comic - paused while I wait for fashion inspiration to pull the ending together Emotional support paladin - paused till I feel like it. It's got such a specific delivery style that I don't wanna force to get the story out, so i gotta wait for some story aspects to firm up Bonnie & Clawd - more of a character study than a comic - fun to practice cutie pies cuddling. But... how DO birds and wolves smooch. Saw a youtube video about how ravens and wolves are friends and work together. So perfect. Valentines day thing - got some supplies coming tomorrow, gonna try out my idea. If it works maybe sell it? If it doesn't work, oh well, probably will learn something. Wanted to make perforated cards and stickers but got a little overwhelmed thinking about printing. Might just do a digital thing if an idea comes to me. Been wanting to make holographic stickers but when I sit down to think of a motif it feels stressful. Maybe I just test the Poodle Broadcasting System logo? I've always loved the aesthetic of valentines day but never felt like it's been delivered right. I certainly never felt indulged - something is always a little not-cute or too-cutesy. Think it could be really fun to have it be an annual 'surprise box'. I lost my halloween fam in the schmivorce so I could use a holiday to go crazy on. (For years I would drive out and help build a whole haunted house in a garage and it was like a week-long party with great food and movies and laughs. Sad to lose it, sadder still to know it was so easy for them to lose me. ) Dishupon - ok not as many players and responses as I'd hoped. But that wasn't really the point. Point was to invent some sanrio-y characters for fun - which i did. And I will also say that the exercise of coming up with a variety of cozy, fun, silly, spicy ways to think about dishes has made MY dishes mostly effortless. Even made a little foam clay Tiger coach and he's sitting on the window above the sink. Perhaps I will think of a game to get my car inspection done.

Overall January is great. Granted, it's the 4th. Had my ten year work anniversary (idk how old everyone thinks I am but it's Not 20) and got to 1010 followers on twitter on the same day. And the new d20 is out on the 10th so that felt real nice and square. Bit worried that all the good vibes I built up over holiday vacay will get smashed when I'm put on a new work project. But i feel like I'm about to level up a little bit art-style wise. Feelin grateful, feelin warm & cozy

It was a kind of routine at this point. An endless cycle Sunghoon had fallen into. It always started at home in his apartment. He’d be sitting on the couch watching a random show he’d found. Or in his bed trying to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Or in the kitchen attempting to cook. All things he had done plenty of times before. The only difference is that now you weren’t there with him.

You and Sunghoon had broken up nearly 10 months ago, but it felt like far longer than that to him.

He’d tell himself it was fine. That everything was okay. After all, it was a mutual breakup. But the more Sunghoon thought about it, the more he’d second guess the decision.

And that would lead to phase two of this dreadful cycle: missing you.

Sunghoon missed you to no end. He realized that now. What exactly he missed about you, he couldn’t quite put his finger on. Maybe it was the way your hand felt in his. Or the sound of your raspy morning voice. Or the way his name rolled off your tongue. Or, maybe, he just missed you.

Right now, in this very moment, Sunghoon missed you, and that confused him. How can he miss someone that’s standing right in front of him?

“Hey,” you shouted. The sound of your voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He shook his head as he was now suddenly hyper-aware of his surroundings. The flashing lights. The booming music. The blur of people dancing around him. The cold cup in his hand. “Are you okay?”

Sunghoon sighed. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

Phase three of that damn cycle: drinking away any memory of you. He’d knock back shot after shot in hopes that he’ll forget who you are. But instead, he forgets who he is, and all he can think about is you. Funny how that works. No matter how hard he tried to force you out of his mind, you’d always come right back.

Everything he saw reminded him of you. He’d hear your voice in all the white noise. He’d see you in every face around him. As a matter of fact, he was 97% sure it wasn’t even you that he was talking to.

“You sure?” You quirked an eyebrow up. “You don’t look too good.”

“I’m okay.” He looked up at you, or some girl who looked a lot like you at least.

Alcohol has its downsides. Like how it filled him with this indescribable ache for you. But it also has its upsides, because god knows he wouldn’t have done this if he were sober.

Without a second’s hesitation, Sunghoon pulled your doppelgänger in and latched his lips to hers, dropping the half-full cup to the floor. His eyes fluttered shut as he let himself fully believe it was your lips he was tasting. His mouth began to move feverishly against yours, devouring every inch he could reach.

He pulled away and his eyes met yours as he caught his breath. He couldn’t tell if it was the alcohol, but for a fleeting moment, that ache was relieved. His hand gripped the back of your neck and pulled you in for another kiss.

His fingers tangled into your hair and tugged your head back, giving him better access to your lips. The kiss escalated with every passing second. The way your tongues danced. The way you were gripping each other’s clothes for dear life. It eased that burning in his chest.

That is until he felt a hand land on his shoulder. Before Sunghoon could comprehend what was happening, he was pushed back as a hard fist slammed into his face. The force of the punch sent him back into a group of people. People that were far too intrigued by the sudden violence to care about being shoved.

Sunghoon’s hand flew up to his nose as soon as he felt the blood begin to flow. He looked up to see a muscular man with his arm slung over a girl’s shoulder. The same girl who looked exactly like you seconds ago.

“You stay the fuck away from her! You hear me?!” the man screamed as he shoved Sunghoon once more.

He tried to catch himself, but lost his balance and stumbled to the ground. He glanced between the couple standing before him. It didn’t take long for him to put two and two together. “I’m sorry.” he muttered.

All eyes were on him. He could see a few people recording the scene and others whispering. Ah yes, phase four: getting too caught up thinking about you that he makes a fool of himself in public.

Sunghoon stood up, looking down at his bloodied palm then back at the couple. “I just- I thought you were- Fuck, I’m sorry.”

He snaked his way through the dense crowd, somehow managing to find the door. Slamming his body weight into it, he felt the cold night air hit his skin, almost tumbling onto the frigid concrete in the process. He threw himself to the ground beside the door and pulled out his phone as he wiped away the remaining blood from his nose.

Alas, the final stage of our cycle: wallowing in self-pity as Sunghoon tries to find a way home.

He scrolled through his contacts in hopes of finding someone who’d be willing to pick him up and give him a ride.

Jungwon.

Jake.

Heeseung.

Jay.

Ni-ki.

Sunoo.

Y/n.

He froze at the sight of your name. ‘Why do I even have your number still?’ he thought. His thumb hovered over your name for a second. 'No, she won’t answer anyway.’ He stared at the call button for a moment, and the next thing he heard was the calling tone of his phone.

His eyes widened, and he rushed to hit the 'end call’ button. His arm dropped down to his side and his head fell back against the shaking wall of the club. He sighed and let his heavy eyelids close. He would have fallen asleep like that if it weren’t for his phone vibrating in his hand. He opened his eyes just enough to read the name on the screen.

Y/n.

He had to read the name a few times, and even then he didn’t believe what he was seeing. He knew it wasn’t in his best interest, but he answered. He put the phone to his ear and waited.

“Sunghoon?”

He shivered at the sound of your voice. God, he hadn’t heard it in so long.

“Y/n?” His voice came out a lot shakier and weaker than he had intended.

“Did you call?”

“Uhh, yeah. Yeah, I did.” He looked down at his lap, nervously fiddling with the hem of his shirt. “On accident,” he added. “It was an accident. I meant to call Sunoo. My bad. Sorry for bothering you.”

“No no. It’s fine.” There was an awkward silence for a moment before you spoke again. “Okay, well, if you meant to call Sunoo, I’ll let you go now.”

'No.’ a voice pleaded from the back of his mind. 'Don’t hang up. I missed you. I missed your voice.’

“Wait!” Sunghoon called out, earning a few looks from people walking by. “Wait. I, uh,” He let out a shameful sigh. “I need a ride.”

“A ride?”

“Yeah. I don’t want to call the guys because they said if I ever got drunk again, they won’t be the ones to come get me. That if I ever put myself in this situation I need to find a way out-”

“Wait you’re drunk?!” you interrupted.

Sunghoon gulped. He must sound like an idiot. “Yeah.”

“Text me the address. I’m on my way.”

“Hey,” you whispered as you nudged the sleeping man’s shoulder. “Sunghoon.”

“Mmmm.” Sunghoon groaned.

You playfully rolled your eyes and stood. “Fine then. Guess I’ll just leave you here if you’re enjoying your nap that much-”

Before you could turn away, you felt Sunghoon grab your wrist. You looked at your arm, then back up to him. His eyes were still shut and his head was still pressed to the wall when he spoke in a hoarse voice. “Don’t go.” He opened his eyes, his bloodshot gaze catching yours. “You came.”

“You asked me to.” you responded.

“Yeah, but…” he trailed off. “I didn’t think you’d actually come.”

“Do you know what could happen to a handsome man like you at this time of night?” You pointed at the vibrating club. “Especially at a place like this?”

Sunghoon smirked. “You think I’m handsome?”

You rolled your eyes again. “Shut up and get in the car.”

“You’re not gonna help me?”

“Sunghoon, I can assure you I do not have the strength to carry a drunk, five-foot-ten man right now.”

“Come on, the car is like 7 feet away.”

“That’s far too many feet.”

“Pleeeease.” he pouted.

You huffed and wrapped his arm around your shoulders. You placed your arm around his waist and attempted to hoist him up, but to no avail.

“You know, this is going to require a little effort on your end, too.” you remarked.

“Oh, right, sorry. Okay, on three. One, two, three.”

With your joint effort, you managed to get Sunghoon off the ground. It took him some time to catch his balance, almost pulling you both back down a few times.

“Are you okay?” you asked.

Sunghoon put up a thumbs up in response while he wobbled on his feet.

“Okay, let’s get you to the car.”

It was a bit of a struggle, but you successfully got Sunghoon buckled into the passenger seat. “You better not puke in my car.” You walked over to the driver’s seat and started the car. “How did you end up here anyway.”

Sunghoon stared out the window at the club. “That’s a good question.”

'You. I’m here because of you.’

It was a mostly quiet drive to Sunghoon’s apartment complex. The only sounds heard were the hum of the car’s engine and the soft music playing through the speakers. It seemed like just a few minutes passed by the time you were parked in front of Sunghoon’s apartment building.

You shut off the car and turned to Sunghoon. “Are you going to be okay walking up there by yourself?”

He ran a hand through his hair. “I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?”

“Are you asking because you want to come with me?”

“Well, I didn’t know if you wanted me to go with you.”

'I always want you with me.’

“I mean I wouldn’t be opposed to a little company.”

Your lips pulled into a weak smile. You climbed out of the car and met Sunghoon at the door of the apartment lobby. You both walked in hand in hand and he directed you to the elevator.

“Can’t remember the last time I was in this elevator” You thought out loud.

Sunghoon hit the button for floor number three and shoved his hands in his pockets. “This place did used to be your home”

The second Sunghoon got the door to his apartment open, he made a beeline for the couch and threw his body onto it.

You stood awkwardly at the door. “Well, if that’s all you need, I’ll get going now.”

'Don’t let her leave. Who knows when you’ll be able to see her after this. Don’t let her leave.’

“Y/n.”

You were just about to step out into the hallway when he called your name. You looked back at him and you swear you’ve never seen a man look so desperate.

“Stay.” His voice was shaky, almost inaudible. “Even if it’s just for a few minutes. I know I’ve already asked a lot of you but- Just- Please stay.”

“Okay.” You closed the door and made your way back to the couch, taking a seat next to Sunghoon.

You took in his appearance. Not what he was wearing, but his face. His eyes looked sunken in, his nose was swollen, and his cheeks had hollowed in a bit. You had never seen him like this. “Sunghoon, what’s wrong?”

Sunghoon was a bit taken aback by your question. “What?”

“You look terrible.” You hadn’t realized the harshness of your words until you noticed Sunghoon visibly wince.

He rolled his eyes. “Gee, thanks.”

“No, I mean, you look like you’ve been through something.”

“I’m fine.”

'Now, we both know that’s a fucking lie.’

You shook your head. “No, I know you’re not. Look, I know things got kinda weird between us, but I still care about you.”

'Just say it. Tell her.’

“I miss you.” Sunghoon whispered.

You froze, absolutely certain that your ears were playing tricks on you. “What?”

“I miss you.” he repeated. He looked up to meet your gaze. His eyes were brimming with tears. Damn, why did alcohol make him so emotional? “I miss you so much.”

You tilted your head. “No, you don’t.”

“Yes, I do. You have no idea.” With every word, it got harder to keep the tears in. “I miss the songs you’d hum every morning while you made breakfast. I miss your bedhead. I miss the way you’d squint when you were reading something. I miss you, y/n.”

You heard the desperation in his voice, but you told yourself it was just the alcohol. His words now weren’t lining up with what he had said then. “Do you remember why we broke up?”

Sunghoon scoffed, but it sounded more like a sob. “How could I forget? You said you 'lost feelings.’ That you had 'fallen out of love with me.’”

“We both said we had fallen out of love.” you corrected.

“I know, but things are different now.” He placed a hand on your cheek and pressed his forehead to yours. Your lips were mere centimeters apart, and you could feel his shallow breath on your face. “Please, y/n.”

“Sunghoon…” It hurt you to see him like this. “It must be the alcohol talking. You’re not thinking straight. We both said it ourselves. We’re not in love anymore.”

“Then let’s pretend. I don’t care how long it lasts. I just- I need you.” His voice was shaking. “Even if it’s just for tonight, could we pretend that we’re in love?”

You leaned into his palm. You hadn’t been this close to him in so long. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t miss this. Sunghoon’s touch had this warmth to it that you were never quite able to feel in anyone else. It was one of the many reasons you had fallen in love with him in the first place.

You were so deeply in love with him throughout the two years you had been together. That made things harder when you noticed that you two had grown distant. For some indescribable reason, the two of you had slowly begun to grow apart. And during this time, any small thing could spark an argument.

After two months, it just didn’t feel like a relationship anymore. Neither of you knew what you wanted and it seemed like there was always a wall between you, and it didn’t take long to decide that it’d be best for you to go your separate ways.

It’s just like that saying. If you love something, let it go. If it doesn’t come back, you never had it…

“I know what I want now.” Sunghoon stated, sure of himself this time.

“And what is that, Sunghoon?”

“Right now, I just want you here with me.” he answered. “I just want to hold you. I just want to feel your lips against my skin. I just want you.”

… If it comes back…

You place your hand over his and looked deep into his pleading eyes. “I want you too.”

Heres the tldr of the carrd: (aka a list of things i need to add to it)

This is C!/CHARACTER!!! In no way am i impersonating scott the content creator. I am simply answering questions the way i think his esmp1 character would answer.

Admittedly, i have never watched scotts esmp1 series- i mostly know about his character through clips, fanfics, fanarts, and other fans. I know im such a fake fan /sarc so if i get any lore or canon wrong please tell me and ill do my best to fix it. If i cannot, then oh well to bad so sad.

This will include my personal headcanons so if you haven't heard of whatever even or something from canon, its most likely a headcanon

This will also include flower husbands (c!scott x c!jimmy) so uh yeah dont imply any other ships other than them only because i dont personally ship it (its fine if you do, i have nothing wrong with that :) just keep it out of this blog)

There was something off about L’manburg.

This wasn’t uncommon knowledge.

Maybe it was the people- their teeth were just a bit too sharp to be human, and voices just a little bit… unearthly.

Or maybe it was the church for a god that nobody else had ever heard of, or the lake that seemed to swallow all those who swam in it- erasing them completely and leaving nothing behind.

Best GMs and coaches in the league ACC to you?

we can start with gms because coaching is a bit more complicated. best gms in the league is easy to look at because like, who has a good team? who has had a consistently good team? whose locker room is the most cohesive, whose coaching staff is the best? who is the best at acquiring and keeping the best players, coaches, staff, etc? and you can see that in the way teams play. 

(putting this under the cut because it got long. and i mean Long.)

so, in no particular order: kyle dubas (leafs), steve yzerman (red wings, i will explain this later), don waddell (canes), julien brisebois (lightning), joe sakic (avs), and kelly mccrimmon/george mcphee (golden knights) (god i still hate that name and also will explain this later too) are the best in the league in my opinion. honorable mention to marc bergevin, who has held onto his job much longer than he arguably should have, but still has a decent team on the ice and a decent coaching staff, although the french rule does severely handicap them (i understand why it exists but it does, it just does). 

david poile (preds) is the longest tenured gm in the league (has been the preds gm since fucking 1997, thats insane, thats legit before i was born, what the fuck), and i do genuinely think he is very good at his job, and that he is very hockey smart, but oh boy have his recent decisions been suspect as hell, and that reflects in the state of his team. doug wilson (sharks), who is the second longest tenured gm in the nhl, is in the exact same boat (the karlsson deal is a nightmare, and also did he just forget that his star core was gonna get old and retire or ??).

with dubas, waddell, brisebois, sakic, and mccrimmon/mcphee all have the same basic strengths: they draft well, they have a fundamental understanding of their team structure and how to manage public perception of the team and everything that implies, and they have two fingers on the pulse of their locker room at all times. im not going to pretend to know as much about sakic and mccrimmon/mcphee as i do the eastern gms, but it doesnt take much to figure it out. look at the avs, and their locker room, the success theyve found after being dead fucking last in the league. look at the knights and their incredible success that theyve found after literally not existing before 2017. ive talked about dubas a lot on my blog, but its incredibly easy to see that waddell and brisebois do the same shit he does, and i can do a deep dive on them if asked. bergevin has moments of brilliance, like the suzuki trade and acquiring caufield and anderson, but things like kotkaniemi’s development and their entire blue line give me a massive pause, which is why he’s not in the main list. he’s a good gm. he’s just not the best.

in regards to steve yzerman: you have to understand that this is the man that built the tampa bay lightning as we know them. this man was gm of the bolts until fucking 2018. tampa bay has been a monster in the eastern conference for years, BECAUSE of the work steve yzerman put in. his team set the franchise record for wins, and he was the first and is the only lightning gm to have won gm of the year. look up the 17-18 roster. it is, essentially, the roster that won them the cup last year. make no mistake, i think brisebois is great, and hes on the list for a reason, but the biggest part of brisebois’ success was steve yzerman’s incredible hockey mind. brisebois essentially had to sell off a fourth of his roster, and the lightning are still a top team in their division and in the league, and thats why he’s there (it is so incredibly easy to fuck shit up post cup win), but the brisebois lightning would not exist without steve yzerman, plain and simple.

what steve yzerman is doing in detroit should be watched very, very closely by every single person in the hockey world. youre fucking nuts if youre not paying attention to them, not gonna lie. the mantha trade was excellent, if really sad if you know even a bit about the wings, but the amount of draft picks steve yzerman has amassed and the way he’s using the prospects and players he already has is really fucking admirable. mike babcock left the red wings organization absolutely in tatters, and i think, honestly, it was always steve yzerman’s plan to go home to detroit and rebuild. if there is anyone who is going to strike absolute gold this draft year, it is steve yzerman. watch the red wings, i am telling you, keep a beat on detroit. they are going to be good. its not an if, its a when.

(real quick on the knights situation: mcphee was the first gm of the knights, and was also president of hockey ops at the same time, and then in 2019 mcphee said he was just gonna focus on his job as president, but we all know hes still an integral part of the way the knights are run, and he and mccrimmon have kinda been building the knight together since the beginning anyway bc mccrimmon was originally mcphee’s agm. so. thats why theyre together)

as for coaches, it’s very simple. rod brind’amour (canes), sheldon keefe (leafs, yes im biased, we’ll get into it), jared bednar (avs), joel quenneville (panthers), jon cooper (lightning), barry trotz (isles), and mike sullivan (pens).

(disclaimer: obviously coaching is done as a team, and assistants and specialist coaches and staff are all very important, but the head coaches set the tone and organize the entire machine, if you will, so im going to be talking about head coaches as if theyre the entire coaching staff. its just easier this way im sorry)

im gonna just start with the easy ones: barry trotz, mike sullivan, and jon cooper have been in the league for years. cooper is the longest tenured coach in the nhl for a reason (again, just look at the tampa bay lightning. its the gm’s job to make the coach’s life easier and the coach’s job to make the gm’s life easier, and this is one of the prime examples of it in the league. its dope as hell tbh), trotz is one of the most respected coaches in the hockey world for a reason (the caps lost something when he walked. they just did. and now the isles are absolute hell to play against and that is largely the coaching of barry trotz, you legit cannot tell me im wrong), and while mike sullivan does have his faults, i think hes found a way to please both management and the crosby-and-malkin unit, which has been really really fucking hard to do. he also led the pens to back to back cups, which you can never really uh. ignore. lmao. so theres those three.

i know less about bednar, but again, another example of the coach and gm working together to make each others’ lives easier. sakic gets bednar the players and staff he needs to make the avs better, and bednar takes those players and staff and makes them into the absolute giant they are. it wouldve been really, really easy to fuck up makar’s development, or bowen byram’s, or sam girard’s, or ryan graves’s, or jost or mackinnon or rantanen’s, but he hasn’t, and he hasn’t just given up on players like burakovsky or kadri, he’s given them new life as players and made them more successful.

joel quenneville is the reason the bl/ckh/wks were a legacy team point blank period. sure they had the talent, sure the gm drafted well, but you do not get the legacy of the chicago bl/ckh/wks without joel quenneville. they fired him on a whim and it absolutely was a mistake, and the moment the cats hired him i literally out loud said ‘oh no’ because i knew exactly what that meant for the leafs and their position in the standings. the panthers are underrated generally, yes, but they would not be the powerhouse they are this season without quenneville. just look at q’s wiki stats. he’s absolutely unbeilevable. he won the jack adams in fucking 2000, before he’d even won any of the cups with the h/wks. i cant tell you what kind of a locker room coach this guy is, but i can tell you his teams win and win convincingly, and that firing him was the biggest mistake the h/wks have made in years.

whenever i talk about coaching, i talk about rod brindamour and sheldon keefe in the same breath every single time because there is no match, and i mean none, for the love inside those locker rooms. the avs, maybe, but my point stands. keefe and brindamour fucking BLEED team spirit, it is at the center of their coaching styles and their teams are good because of it specifically. marner and matthews are good, yes, and they always have been, but they have surpassed all expectation and then some with keefe. aho, teravainen, and svechnikov are good, yes, and they always have been, but they have surpassed all expectation with brindamour. brindamour and keefe have both hashtag played the game, so they Get It, and more than that, theyve grown and changed their understanding of the game as the game itself has changed, and so they can command the authority of their teams while also connecting to them on a really deep level. i should make a note here that keefe and brindamour are incredibly, deeply hockey smart, and that they are also just technically good coaches, skimming their wiki or nhl dot com articles will tell you that, but what makes them stand out to me is that their players would fucking die for them. the leafs would go through the end boards for keefe, the canes would do the same for brindamour. travis dermott said it best when keefe got promoted: boys wanna play for him. beyond that, the management skills both brindamour and keefe have are just frankly amazing (the amount of ego keefe specifically has to manage in the leafs locker room is astounding and he does it so incredibly brilliantly). the leafs and the canes are talented, yes, and would have been talented regardless of who was coaching them. but brindamour and keefe bring both of those teams from talented to exceptional, and the true mark of an amazing coach is not only how many games their team wins, but how they win them, and the leafs and canes have been winning games this year for and because of each other, and that starts with their coaches. what makes a great coach, to me, is not the talent on the team (though that certainly helps), but how the coach manages his players no matter who they are, and how he helps those players grow not just as players as people, because no matter how much pure stats people and twitter hockey dudebros wanna deny it, that shit does affect on ice play, and it does make good players better.
