I finally managed to publish the second chapter before the week was out! (acting like it's not Friday)

I realise how unintelligent this is, but since the fanfiction already has fifty chapters, it would have been impossible to publish it before #NATLAN - so I'm already cracking up! I can't wait to meet all the new characters and write a little something about them too!

So the day of the first lessons arrived. Wanderer slipped his white shirt into his long grey trousers, tightened by a light leather belt. Just before entering the traveller's Serenteiera, he also put on the turquoise jacket that had the Anemo Vision emblem on the left breast pocket - right over the heart, he thought… a heart that Wanderer did not have. Nahida had joined him, with her tiny green teacher's outfit and a class register bigger than she was. Of course she was going to teach in the Dendro class. She had smiled at him because she knew how nervous all that made him, especially being away from her. "You'll see, it will be an interesting experience. We'll both learn a lot…" she had told him days before and repeated that same morning. Wanderer had replied with an impatient sigh.

on one hand you have a message about how dismissing kind intentions and generosity in the name of nihilism is ineffective and irrelevant because human society can only be improved, and has only been improved, by people who dared to do good and altruistic things; there is a difference between fantastical hand-holding idealism and the principle of compassion and community aid, because humanity has always ever thrived in groups - in the support and conditions of unconditionality we lend to one another. helping one of us is helping all of us.

on the other hand, you discover that the wanderer joined the vahumana college accidentally because he keeps fact-checking researchers about events that he actually lived through but obviously can't say he did. nahida registered him as the representative of vahumana under a pun for cat. she expects him to write a dissertation on the validity of nihilism and existentialism in human nature while also wanting him to make friends at the championship. peak sibling behavior.

God has mercy after all, because it seems that they wouldn't have to do that themselves after all, he and Charles.

But then Charles gets out of the coma and we have Wendeline "Wanda" Erika Xavier and Jeanette "Jean" Charlene Xavier.

Wendeline because that was one of the names Erik and Magda planned for their future children.

Jeanette because that was one of the names Brian and Sharon would have picked if they had a girl. ("Either that or Cassandra.")

If Charles sleeps forever then there'd be Charlotte and Charlie for sure, lol.

I have to let you know Faith when I saw this ask I got so excited my brain shut down skavaksbksbsna here’s to hoping I sound coherent lol

Link has the Master Sword, right? but since he got yeeted into the future with it, that means that there is no Master Sword in the future

same with Zelda, since she got yeeted into the future the bloodline of the goddess has been discontinued and the royal family has fallen into obscurity

speaking of Zelda, she’s an aspiring anthropologist!!!!! she's absolutely obsessed with history and her favorite thing to do in the world is to grab Link and drag him out into expeditions around Hyrule to explore old ruins and find cool artifacts. my girl’s a field scientist, she gets really depressed when she’s stuck in the castle for a long time :(

Link’s not all that interested in history himself but he loves to listen to Zelda infodump bc he loves to see her so happy 🥺 he has all this secondary knowledge through osmosis lol

her book!!!! it’s an old research journal she found in the castle’s library and she’s repurposed it to be her research journal. she’s basically got the whole thing memorized, and she’s always adding her own notes and drawings about the stuff she finds with Link

(she’d also go out to explore on her own, but it’s more fun with a friend, and Link is always so willing to come so they go out together way more often than not)

Link considers it his highest honor that it’s literally his job to make sure his best friend is safe lol

also yeah to me they are best friends 💙 but I don’t really mind if people wanna ship them ik Zelink is a popular ship lol

Ah, I see why they translated it to Hat Guy now. It really doesn't quite work in English huh? But honestly 阿帽 is really cute tho....

It makes sense that a phonetic translation of A-Mao would lose the entire fact that "mao" is just [帽] which is the word for hat. But like, using Hat Guy in English just makes wanderer sound that much weirder whereas in chinese that would be valid since that is the way we can shorten names. Like if I really wanted to, I could shorten Yanfei to like.... A-fei or something.

wouldn’t make more sense narrative wise to give her a name of her own?? like scara gets his own epic chapter about him ridding himself of his past and adopting a new name then proceed to ignore said name in favor of “hat guy” but the actress playing “furina” doesn’t get to be known for her own name?

like people of fontain (partly maybe) know the truth so why not let her free? let her enjoy the simple human life she so so longed for? even the other furina wouldn’t want this

**I haven't been to our second studio yet, it's in an entirely different campus from the main one I work at.

I have a production meeting there today.

These are actual directions from the OFFICIAL communication line:

"Enter at gate ##, you will see a parking lot on your left, go to the third parking lot on your RIGHT and then turn north."

"Enter the building through the third turnstile from the left and walk straight until there is an eastward curve- walk through the western door and on the fourth cross hall is a green poster, turn south and when you cannot walk straight any further, there will be an elevator bank through the doors on the NE wall."

... ... ... My only prayer of even finding this studio is to stumble across the producer on my way in.

The thing is, in most companies studios are under the IT and Tech Services umbrella, so the halls leading to studios are absolute mazes in the IT sections, which are often reached through things that look like maintenance corridors.

Leaving early to buy a damn compass to follow these directions with... When did just saying "Left" and "Right" go out of vogue???

Okay so this is how the rest of the group finds out about her curse. When they were doing nicknames, she voted herself to be Mouse, and everyone went along with it and forgot to ask why she chose that name.

WV!Sasha: There's a river up ahead, why don't we take a break and go swim? Sapphire(CiH!Anne): Oh yeah I haven't gotten to really use my scale since I left the Zora! Mouse, checking pockets: Uh, yeah, I have enough potions. One of the Marcys can just brew me some more later. Let's go! *Group at the river. Mouse is hesitant to get in, and asks a lot of questions about the current speed. Heron(BT!Sasha) sneaks up behind her and tosses her into the river.* Mouse: AHHH NO WAIT! Heron: Te water's fine! You met a creepy old lady in the forest who gave you a really suspicious potion and you drank it for some reason. Potion turned out to be a curse that turns you into a mouse whenever you're clean? And you can be turned back with another potion but it doesn't remove the curse? Mouse: Yeah that's about it. Domino: Okay well at least we have an explanation for why you're always dirty. 2) Did you always like this character?

Yes, and even before I as much as knew his name, let alone lore! It was fated... I've started the Soulsborne downspiral from BB and then ER, but naturally I've caught some DS fanart and lore here and there. And I remember I always spotted this guy and thought he looked soooo good?? Since I didn't know the lore I was just identifying them as "some spikey boy", "the guy in weird yellow hat" (didn't know Heysel was a she fsdhfsdh), "slutty-looking dude I keep seeing" and "the one in really sexy armour" sdfhhdsd So, the latter one always captivated me the most X'DDD I just felt like he had the vibe I'd love, talk about the design being just right!

11) How did you “fall in love” with this character?

Instantly, actually? Shortly after I've learned from my friends that Creighton originally came from DS2, not 3, and with "evil twin of Patches" in package. I was sick staying in my bed, and decided to check both his and Pate's lore and dialogue. I fucking LOVED Creighton's over-the-top murderous guy voice acting SO goddamn much?? He made me laugh, but in a good way, it was genuine joy. Like 'holy shit he sounds exactly how he looks' XD

I also liked how kinda.. 'straightforward' he was? I feel personally betrayed by him since this sort of direct, angry, blunt, "threatening" way of talking IS something that tends to make me feel very safe. This is dear for me, like a person that means well but has negative charisma, when "polite" people, like Pate to not go far, I am practically allergic to fdhhsd I expected him to fall for the trope of 'actually a nice guy but cursed with giving bad vibes'! Still I am not disappointed that he was not a guy who only seemed threatening like I thought, but actually whereas he sounded like how he looked, he acted like how he sounded 💀 Still a really fun character! (Also @heraldofcrow is a huge chicken for claiming to love all the murderous white-haired characters but ignoring Creighton! FIGHT ME LOOSER)

46) How much do bad interpretations of this character upset you?

I will admit, I do not go into DS fandoms, so I would not know what bad interpretations of him could exist. How does anyone even misinterpret a plain serial killer character...? If I saw the point missed in some way, I can envision myself having a very mild headache and yelling "Stop it, he is literally a serial killer, not a tsundere teenage girl!" or something like that? I don't know fhsdhdf And then that'd be all for laughs, in the end, I would not be upset! There is no much depth or controversy to cherish about the character. Which is GOOD! Some characters are just bold!
