Link has the Master Sword, right? but since he got yeeted into the future with it, that means that there is no Master Sword in the future

same with Zelda, since she got yeeted into the future the bloodline of the goddess has been discontinued and the royal family has fallen into obscurity

speaking of Zelda, she’s an aspiring anthropologist!!!!! she's absolutely obsessed with history and her favorite thing to do in the world is to grab Link and drag him out into expeditions around Hyrule to explore old ruins and find cool artifacts. my girl’s a field scientist, she gets really depressed when she’s stuck in the castle for a long time :(

Link’s not all that interested in history himself but he loves to listen to Zelda infodump bc he loves to see her so happy 🥺 he has all this secondary knowledge through osmosis lol

her book!!!! it’s an old research journal she found in the castle’s library and she’s repurposed it to be her research journal. she’s basically got the whole thing memorized, and she’s always adding her own notes and drawings about the stuff she finds with Link

(she’d also go out to explore on her own, but it’s more fun with a friend, and Link is always so willing to come so they go out together way more often than not)

Link considers it his highest honor that it’s literally his job to make sure his best friend is safe lol

aww thank you for this ask 🥰🥰 (and i'm terribly sorry, i'm gonna leave a wall of text here, cuz I just can't resist the opportunity to yap about my Beatles-related experiences and opinions xd)

first of all, i don't really get why this movie tends to get so much hate (aside from the part where John hits Paui, and i really liked your insight that it was necessary to make the subsequent hugging and crying on each other's shoulders less gay - god i hate you late 2000's), because tbh this is my favourite Beatles biopic. Aaron Taylor-Johnson captures John's whimsical spirit quite well imo and even though Thomas Brodie-Sangster wouldn't have been my first choice for Paul, he's really good at being a charming motherfucker and a lil shit at the same time :D

i think i saw it for the first time in my late teens/early 20s with my mom and her husband, but i didn't pay much attention to the details then (given that i only had a very surface level of Betales-knowledge back then). I rewatched it last November though (in the midst of a full-blown Beatles brainrot).

Am i a John girl? Huh, i guess i'm something that people around here would call a John-coded Paul girlie xd nevertheless I aspire to be a Ringo in the lives of my loved ones

And omg your last question led me very far, but I'll try to be brief (edit: i failed lol) :D so, as i read your notes, i was very surprised that it's considered an anti-Julia and pro-Mimi film (and seeing the points you have raised, now i can totally understand why). For me (even on my first viewing) it was never a Julia vs. Mimi thing. I've read it as a John vs John conflict (and this is the point where i start talking bullshit and/or total banalities. Feel free to correct me or argue with my points :D i always fancy a good argument). I've always seen him as a man with two conflicting sides: one is the whimsical, creative, free but overly emotional (consequently kinda unintegrable (i'm not sure if it's a real word lmao i hope it is :D) into modern western society) side (enabled by Julia), and the other one is the abandoned little boy who only wants to be loved, and is therefore ready (or even needs) to be controlled and steered in "the right direction" by others, hoping that they would not abandon him this way (and this side of him is fed by Mimi in a way in my opinion).

In my reading, both mother figures embodied and enabled one side of John, while actively trying to suppress or outright hurt the other side -- as, I think, John did in his own mind, constantly berating and hurting himself in the process. I thought Julia was so antagonistic (and i guess i was waaay more forgiving of her than i think an average person would be, because unfortunately in many ways her behaviour reminded me of myself), because imo society tends to frown upon overly emotional, somewhat detached and destructive, but free-spirited and creativity-enhancing behaviour, while supporting Mimi's "behave according to unspoken social rules and expectation, don't change the status quo, and suppress your emotions"-mindset, that she represented in the movie and tried to instil in John. (Seeing Mimi handle (and making John handle!!) Uncle George's death with coldness and complete suppression of emotions was just as painful and infuriating for me as the scene where Julia sent John away after all the (sometimes creepily inappropriate) lovebombing.) I have a theory that Paul was so important to John because he not only accepted but straight-up embraced (dare i say served) both sides of him. But probably i just see too much into all this xd

Alright fasten your iridescent seatbelts because I'm about to ~yap~ about Antigreen (AO3)

First up: what's in a title? Food (flavor) colouring, for one:

Quarks are the fundamental building blocks of matter, and there's six flavors: up, down, charm, strange, top (formerly truth), and bottom (formerly beauty). They all carry colour charge, which can be red, green, or blue, or for antiquarks their opposites: antired (cyan), antigreen (magenta), antiblue (yellow). The core six in AG (Callie, Ettie, Sawyer, Annette, Erika, Michael) all get a color and a quark each. (Which is which is left as an exercise to the reader lol)

Magenta is most interesting to me because it's not a spectral color: it's the only one of the six that's not monochromatic, or 'real', it's an illusion we perceive when something has high amounts of both red and blue light.

The visible spectrum: you won't find pink here!

That's the kind of dichotomy I was going for with 'Antigreen': the word evokes both greenness (the Earth, growth, but also stagnation, a toxic color that often meant death ) and antigreenness (pink, irreality, something unnatural and alien). It's the perfect word to marry the two together; it represents CalliEttie themselves to me!

Pink/magenta also has a history of being used to represent the titular Colour Out of Space, one of Lovecraft's better short stories, about an unnatural alien hue that arrives on Earth. It's used this way in a few adaptations, below which is a gif from the 2019 film version:

Pink is used for various eldritch stuff in other media too, once you notice it once you kinda start to see it everywhere, beware...

The 2019 Colour is good, but I honestly think Annihilation (2018) is a better expression of similar ideas. It concerns a group of women investigating a meteorite that's landed at a lighthouse and is slowly warping the surrounding area:

Shit does indeed get warped as fuck; I recommend.

Annihilation has some really great examples of the Gothic sublime . Think glimpsing a tidal wave, staring up at a mountain, or being on the edge of a black hole. Something so great and terrible that it overwhelms the senses, the kind of awful beauty that brings tears to your eye, and can't be easily described in words.

That's what cosmic horror's all about! imo, anyway: Antigreen is about what happens when a(sapphic)n earthly and unearthly realm meet, and I've hopefully made Esther seem suitably sublime.

Anyway that's the inspo behind the title, and why Esther's strongly associated with the color pink (of my made-up/constructed color names, nemaphlox would be the applicable one I guess).

I'd leave it here for now, with plans to do another of these for Callie and Ettie, but I have to also answer your question: (remember that? It was so long ago and so many pixels above, sorry)

Yep, again, spot on! A mondegreen is the English term for misheard lyrics, and is autological: it describes itself. I swapped the last two letters, making Mondegrene, for a few reasons:

- obscures the origin to make a slightly more plausible surname

- enables various bad French calembours like mond de grené ("grainy world", fitting for a little speck like Calliope). Disclaimer: I rather suck at French

- also similar to French grenade (pomegranate), a fruit with very gay associations

Lastly (I promise!) I'll link the cover art I had made with the ambigram I designed. The swirls are intended to evoke tracks in particle-detecting cloud chambers!

Infodump Warning Ahead

So! The setting is just modern day, 2024 USA, California probably but that's not set in stone. Also there's Crime added for flavor bc I love the settings of underground worlds and mafia and such.

Alex is the main character! I already said it, but she's the daughter of like the most dangerous mafia boss around blah blah all that stuff. She's great.

The blonde guy is Kyle Veronski, he's kinda the second protag? And also kind of an introduction for the hypothetical viewer to the world, since he's the one who meets Alex and gets introduced to the whole crime world the last. He's a bit of a conspiracy theorist and he wants to be a detective. He likes solving mysteries, and he wants to uncover crime in his city (He's a True Crime girlie). Alex is his classmate, and bc of Circumstances that I didn't think of bc there's no plotline yet they are forced to work together and they become friends (and probably more but they're both shit at communication). And yk drama follows bc of Kyle's principles and Alex's dad. Plot. That I don't have yet. Both Alex and Kyle are 16.

The brown haired guy is Liam Bell, he's 14. Oh boyyyy do I have a lot to say about him, but I think I'll keep it to myself for now ;] Bc I think it would be cooler to reveal in a story (bc despite everything I do believe I will someday make a comic). In short, he and Alex have known eachother since they were kids, bc Liam's older brother babysat her. They've grown to have a very much sibling relationship, Alex being very loudly protective over people she loves, and Liam being a secret agent of chaos. She enables him, he covers up the tracks so she doesn't get in trouble. It's a lot. They love eachother a lot :]

Kyle and Liam's relationship is so funny to me, cuz Kyle is TERRIFIED of Liam. Liam was apprehensive about Kyle at first, but grew to be fine with him. Then Kyle did some shit that really really upset Alex (she's not used to being hurt 💔). Liam found Kyle and basically threatened to shoot him if he ever comes near he again. Kyle does in fact come near her again (plot reasons). Thankfully for Kyle, Alex stops Liam from doing anything, but he does Not forget. So now Liam just quietly hates him and Kyle does not want to be in the same room as him alone.

There's actually two more characters in their friend group, but they're the main trio. The others are more of a secondary cast (plus I haven't drawn them yet)

Hey, just wanted to say you captured the internal feeling and thoughts of confusion in interpreting trans feelings so well it was almost physically painful. Like I was right there with Dan poking at a wound even while trying to avoid it. Also I didn't quite realize until the bit where Phil was talking about kakuna and the tops only bar how invested I (and Dan) was in his response to all of it outside of the more serious side of things. Idk if that makes sense. The almost blasé acceptance in joking about it (even with the more serious acceptance already well established) made me sob, is my point. Very well done, thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of art with us.

i need you to know how deeply i appreciate you reaching out to me with an ask and saying such kind words about my fic-- it genuinely means so much to me to hear this.

i'm above all else grateful that i could nail down the feelings of exploring gender confusion and identity. i'm trans myself (though with time i have questioned my own identity and deviated steadily farther from the specific experience i detail in this fic towards a different, equally as trans experience) and have a wonderful trans community across every stage of transitioning, and i've had a lot of gender conversations lately that kind of drove me to want to write this (plus being enabled by a community with such a wide audience of trans people). i wanted this fic to be realistic more than anything, and hearing that i was able to capture those feelings in a way that feels accurate is the highest compliment i could possibly receive.

i was talking about this to one of my friends earlier, but something i want to work on and center in my mind across my fics in this phandom is that dan and phil are fundamentally two best friends who are in love with each other, communicate well, and are silly. humor is so important! when i did the first round of proper edits on the first draft of the fic, i added in a lot more humor on top of what i originally had sketched out, because i looked at the first draft and i was like... okay there's emotions here, great, but phil has to make a joke and be a little bastard, right, and dan has to snip at him about something, because that's so quintessentially them that i would be doing them a disservice to miss it, yknow?

i yapped for a while but i got really tangent-y so scrapping that and moving to your point: i really wanted it to be casual, too, the way that phil accepts dan. something dan mentioned in basically i'm gay is that he resented the idea that people would react to his coming out with "we already knew lol", because that was so situationally inappropriate considering his experience. phil responds to dan, in this fic, coming out as being trans really seriously, but also really light-heartedly, because he's matching dan's feelings about it. in a lighter moment he doesn't treat it as something out of the ordinary, but when dan is spiralling he slows down and is like-- hey, it's okay, i understand you and i love you. both are so deeply important, i think, because one's feelings about their identity can be so fucking complicated, and phil is the kind of person who must be so in tune with all those feelings popping up in dan.

Other news! Besides editing and peer review (thank u bestie, if u see this lol, I know u busy), I’ve already got chapter 5 written up! Just a matter of deciding when I feel like posting it after it gets a good editing gander!

Now random complaints not work related! Creating a new aspect of Blood Magic is annoying and I learned more about human blood cells then I probably needed because sometimes my brain wants to be specific instead of blah blah blah magic bs blah blah blah. But hey! On the other hand, I actually know what my characters are capable of and how magic influences the human body! Amazing!

Good Morning! Happy start of the week!

September is almost over! But also spookiest month is coming! :D I was always sad as a kid that my country wasn't celebrating Halloween. Now kids do it more often while boomer parents yap how this isn't Bulgarian/Orthodox Christian holiday or something... Ya all need to leave the kids have fun and do kids things and enjoy being spooky and getting candy! I love preparing candy for trick or treaters!

I'm glad kids are having more fun and my generation seems more chill about these things.

Original Character (don't steal) ™ I've been scribbling Reciferius a lot lately, you guys remember him? :D;; he won the OC poll way back! I drew him recently, kinda keep scribbling him again on the side. Still not sure what to do with him, or in what world setting I can stuff him but... well anyway he has fangs now cause apparently it's "fangs n claws season" in my head!

I hope I get to finish this WIP eventually this week, I'm really happy at the vibe I got :D

Honestly, i don't know how to answer this. I didn't know I have such a high place in the comunity.

To be honest, one of the best places to start learning about safety is Aleix himself. If he says something, he's always right. My man can act careless and like an idiot, but he's the only one that despite being in the front, still goes to the back of the grid to ask about visibility. if he could, he would fistfight Ezpeleta, DORNA, IRTA and the whole safety commission and race control to improve safety.

I you want to learn more, probably try to search for Box Cero from DAZN. They have an ex-MotoGP/500cc engineer with them and he talks about the whole bike. and the mechanics, I also learnt a lot (like to the 50th anniversary he brough and old suspension to compare with the current ones). I just happened to learn a lot passively and have very good teachers (best money invested ever in DAZN).

Lol, don't worry I'll always enable people to talk and yap about what they want. I do love a regency story, but I can't make myself write one (unfortunately), so hearing about others peoples ideas makes me happy

Aww, thanks, Gin! Tell Me The Truth (About Love) is definitely one of my fave things to have written, so I'm happy to yap about it!

☼: how i came up with the idea

I think it started with just an off-the-cuff tumblr ficlet that I wrote, not very well thought out- but that eventually became the official meet cute in Chapter 7 of the fic, where Hyeon-min confronts his STALKER. But then I got thinking about it, like, not in a very structured way- just trying to figure out how I'd get the characters to that one scene, and then @rain-hat was the best enabler, so I just started writing and then...just didn't stop for a long time.

☄: what the writing process was like

It was delightful and exhausting! I was definitely on a roll- by that time I think I'd been almost continuously writing in one fandom or the other for like five months straight- which was extraordinarily productive by my standards- but! Hot girl summer! I loved the story and I believed in it, but I think I went through all the usual emotions of "why" and "when will this torture end" and "oh my god this is all crap". I really wouldn't have made it through if not for the wonderful and generous Rain, who cheered and cried and was, I think, at some point at least 50% more invested in the fic than I was (because I was a tired rodent by then).

✄: something i deleted before the final draft

Oh man, I realized just now that I deleted all my drafts in one of my rare instances of laptop-housekeeping, so I'm sorry, I don't have anything to show for this! I didn't delete a lot (that I remember- but that's also because I often edit as I go along!) but there was a back story for Sister Lee as a labour rights activist, and there was a longish office-comedy scene at the start where Hyeon-min goes to check about his leave pay with HR, and I think the hardest was cutting out a small scene about Kang Hyeon-min's mom- I cut it for pacing, and couldn't find a place for it later, but I wish I had managed it somehow. Oh, and there was an entire backstory about Hyeon-min's realizing he's bi, and his first boyfriend.

♡: my favorite part

You're going to laugh, but eventually my favourite parts of this story were NOT the scenes between Hyeon-min and Yeong, it was the Koo-Kang family- they were the gift the story gave me- because I honestly had no idea I was going to write them that way until I wrote the first line: "It’s Koo Seo-ryeong who susses him out first, and if Kang Hyeon-min were a little less incensed with her, he might have paid attention."

I just love all the scenes I wrote for them, and I can't particularly choose, but I think this bit stands out as what (I think) is good characterization work? :D

She'd sat up, suddenly, and climbed over him, picking up her clothes from the floor.

Hand propped on the pillow, he'd watched her dress—not hurried, but efficient.

“I think we’re done here, don’t you?” she'd asked, casually, as she'd belted the wide buckle of her dress.

He had wanted to ask her what he'd done wrong—but then, he’d never known what he’d done right either .

and maybe my fave exchange (technically: text) I've ever written:

Gyeongie got me a Kit-Kat today, he writes, so Song & Kim had better get you out soon or I’m going to have a new favourite Koo sister.

As if, comes the reply, within seconds. I made a man of you, baby, never forget.

☠: something i found challenging

This was definitely the "case fic" part of the story- for someone who grew up on a diet of whoddunits, I just couldn't make it work, and a large part of my tension during writing it was the resultant feeling that I'm just plain dumb? Eventually I had to stop stressing about being *clever * about it, because, after all, it was just a plot device for the things I wanted to get at.

☾: how i thought people would respond to the fic

Lol, I thought a handful of people might enjoy it- or so I hoped- but it was a long, slow burn for a niche pairing in a relatively tiny fandom, so I wasn't expecting many readers. (But I'm thrilled so many people enjoyed it and I sometimes go back and read the comments on it when I'm feeling low. Thanks y'all!)

☽: how people *actually* responded

I think it has a small, but devoted fanbase! *blows kisses at you all *

∞: something i wish i’d done differently

Hmm, you know, this is one of the few fics I've written that I'm largely satisfied with? Well, yes, the case fic part was probably something that should have been better, and I always find my prose utilitarian- but on the whole, I think it came together pretty well!

★: something i’m proud to have accomplished

Idk if there's anything I *have * with this particular fic- personally, I'm just happy if I can get a reader to click through to the next chapter. :D
