61 - Best Weapon

Okay so, I really love Chenqing. I do. It’s probably one of my favourite weapons in the entire series, but do I think it’s the best?

... No, because sometimes I would watch an episode and think ‘Wei Wuxian is really focused on playing his music and using the resentful energy but this weapon seems to leave him very defenceless if Wen Ning or Lan Wangji aren’t there to protect him’. I know he relies also on a lot of talismans too - which, thank god, honestly - but Wei Wuxian is really at a disadvantage at times being unable to wield his sword. 

I think having a blend of techniques and weapons is the best, honestly. Which leads me to say that if I had to pick a favourite sword as a weapon, it’s Jiang Cheng’s Sandu hands down. I like the little frog he has on it 😊Zidian is a pretty awesome weapon too, but it seems to be more of a ‘useful in the right situations’ type of thing, like Chenqing. Zidian is a lot more useful in both defence and attack, but there’s something about a good old sword that makes me go ‘hmm yes. Perfect’.

Favorite color: uh, purple or teal, probably. Huge fan of like all purples ever, including but not limited to lilac, lavender, very deep purples, and purples with more red and magenta. But also, any teal or turquoise or ocean blue sorta color is a huge favorite of mine. Honestly, I just love colorful things, you should see my wardrobe, christ.

Three favorite foods: ratatouille with polenta (not authentic or anything, don’t come at me), graham crackers (they have to be name brand Honey Maid or it’s not worth it), bleu cheese. Close fourth would be salt and vinegar potato chips.

Time: I typed most of this at 11:34 pm last night but it’s now 1:18 pm. It can sometimes take me hours of small edits, one after another, to do these tag posts. Half the battle is deciding to tag or not to tag.

Dream trip: tough choice, but toward the top of the list would be a trip to somewhere remote like in Northern Europe or the Yukon or Asia or South America mostly for hiking and seeing nature and whatnot. Idk, would also love to go somewhere tropical with less crowds and no touristy things, to do some snorkeling and diving. I don’t think too much on this because I love any traveling that is actual vacation, and not obligatory, but I do not get to do it.

Anything I really want: a thing, specifically that I’d like at the current time... I’ll come up with like five things later, but I can’t think of any now. Generally speaking, I’m always looking for a new pair of socks with a rabbit pattern. I’d love to be done with school, so my degree will be finished and I can just move on. I’ll probably regret saying that someday but in the moment, I’d give anything to not be in a 24/7 state of constant worry about school.

I’m going to go with chapstick. I feel like my makeup is overdone when I wear lipstick? Which makes no sense but I can have a full eyeshadow look on and be fine but I’ll wear just lipstick and it feels like it’s Too Much. Also it’s a hassle because it smears when I eat

Cornflake Girl by Florence + the Machine

It has some vibes that give me like,,,,witch living in the forest who isn’t malicious but also sometimes bursts into mysterious and creepy song

It also does a good job of subtly narrating me having an existential crisis

It is also just is a song that I like.

Last movie:

The new Charlie’s Angels. which was arguable problematic on the level in which every Charlie’s Angels movie is. But I will argue: Elizabeth Banks, Kristen Stewart and other various gorgeous women being badass and saving the world. So there. I enjoyed it.

Reading:

Howls Moving Castle. I really love the movie and I got the book for Christmas so I’m very excited to be reading it

The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss (taking my time on this one because the next book isn’t supposed to come out until August so I don’t want to rush and then despair while I wait for his amazing storytelling to continue)

5. (Who do you feel most you around)

I feel like I have a lot of facets(?) of my personality, and they shine through with different people and in different situations. There are definitely people (like those above) who make me feel most comfortable, and also situations that make me feel absolutley NOT me.

To be less specific, when I spend time at the summer camp I volunteer at over the summer, I feel the most authentically me around those people.

12. (How are you?)

What a wonderfully complicated question. It varies from day to day. Overall, I’d say I’m getting through life pretty well, not functioning at my best, and VERY prone to spontaneously crying due to stress and other variables. However, I’m doing much better than I was this time last year, so hooray for improvement! Generally, I’m pretty happy, although I do fall into melancholy rather regularly. (I hope that answers in a way that relates to what you were asking about)

23. (Favorite piece of clothing)

My flannel. Call me a stereotype but it’s comfy and can be styled different ways and I think I look good in it. I have a lot of clothing that I really like, and that I think is better looking/more stylish, but my flannel is very good.

But for aeshtetic purposes, my lace-up/button up coat or my steampunk tailcoat.
