a crazy msb idea hear me out:
the magic school bus? not real. miss frizzle’s field trips? all in your head.
eight kids on a school bus field trip get into a crash on their way to their destination and fall into a nine month coma — or so they’re told. they don’t question it when they wake up in the hospital and are told as such.
years later, these kids start realizing their stories are matching up, their teacher is reappearing in town, and perhaps the magic school bus is real. the questions now are what really happened that day, who’s trying to keep the truth from them, and why.
god why this fandom lol

MSB/WK Post-Canon AU thingie:
Me: *sees all of the Wild Kratts AUs*
Also me: well, I like Wild Kratts and Magic School Bus… I MUST JOIN THE BANDWAGON!
So with my recent look at both MSB and Wild Kratts, I think it’s time for me to make an AU for both shows. Now this is post-canon, so the kids are in high school and that allows for some darker moments. So without further ado… some details:
-the gang and Janet are in the 10th grade. Evan and Mikey are in the 9th grade
-Ms. Frizzle and Liz are still around and are still in Walkerville Elementary.
-The Wild Kratts team are still together
-The villains’ latest and grandest scheme is to turn Walkerville Elementary into their own mall where they used the animals captured for their own evil purposes.
-While the gang are all still together and have relatively successful lives in high school, it has been 5 years since 4th grade ended, and as such, the field trips are seen more as just regular field trips. Even Mikey and Janet (who did go on some of the field trips) have the foggy memories of what happened in 4th grade. All of this is because of Zach has rewritten their memories with his invention
-The truth is revealed when the gang realized the demolishment of Walkerville Elementary, and re-unite with Ms. Frizzle and the Wild Kratts Team.
-Of course the memories of the gang are restored (Janet and Mikey got theirs back first since they have been in less field trips than the gang), but they have to overcome some character flaw within them to get back the memories. Here they are for the gang:
Ralphie: Due to the stresses of being the best player of the baseball team, it lead to him almost giving up the sport after having to get better grades.
Phoebe: While she has overcome her new girl shyness, the villains have caused her to go berserk, and as such, she has to control that anger.
Keesha: Her perfectionist due to being president of the drama club has lead her into expecting things to go her way (include all of her dates with Ralphie)
Carlos: He starts to have doubts of his big brother protectiveness, and is worried about Mikey and Phoebe all the time (and he doesn’t say his signature puns)
Tim: Likely having a creative slump and even facing the fact that his art (while pretty good) might not be appreciated by his fellow art club members
Wanda: Pretty much became a porcelain doll due to her mom, and as such has to abandon her own identity as a tomboy (even giving up her hobby of scuba diving and her dreams of becoming a pilot).
DA: Her status as president of the astronomy club, and class president of the 10th grade has started to stress her out, and she’s feeling the cracks of it.
Arnold: He has to deal with all of the anxiety he has, and even Janet starts to notice he’s having more panic attacks than in 4th grade.
Of course, the gang overcomes those hurdles, and are able to remember the good times again. And that allows them to use their Creature Power Suits one last time to save their school. And after that event, the gang have returned to who they were when they were kids… but with more maturity.
-Janet actually becomes nicer to the gang (le gasp! Character development?!)
-Ships involved: Keesha/Ralphie, Arnold/Phoebe, Carlos/DA, Carlos/Tim, DA/Wanda.

What the MSB kids do during recess in Walkerville Elementary?
Sometimes they play baseball (like in the "Plays Ball" episode.)
Or kickball.
D.A. likes to sit on her own and read (preferably in the shade.)
Other games and activities:
Hide and seek
Tag (it's an ongoing game. The kids keep track of who was "it" most recently.
Phoebe, Ralphie, Carlos, and Wanda all like roleplaying Warrior Cats on the playground.
"Let's see who can hang upside down on the monkey bars the longest"
If it's raining, the kids like to play board games.
Bird-watching. The most common birds seen at the school are robins, blue jays, and chickadees, but the kids have seen over 30 species there in total.
Tim practiced a lot of his tree climbing in the old oak tree at school.
Jump rope
Drawing with chalk
It's been years since I've been in elementary school, and most of my recesses were spent just sitting in the shade and reading.

Ask for Phoebe:
In the episode of "Goes to Seed", why is your flower not here at Walkerville Elementary, it's at your old school, when you're in Mr. Seedplot's class?
Another ask for Arnold:
In the episode of "For Lunch" how'd did you chewing your gum?
Another ask for Tim:
In the episode of "Taking Flight", did you uses an plane toy remote when Wanda gave it to you?
Another ask for Wanda:
In the episode of "Ups And Downs", why did a monster in Walkerville lake is fake? It's called Floating and Sinking.
Phoebe: My plant was pollinated and made seeds, so we took one of the seeds to Walker Elementary. That way, my plant can live at both of my schools!
Arnold: How do I chew my gum? I open the package, put the gum in my mouth, and chew it.
Tim: Of course I use a remote!
Wanda: I thought the monster was real, but when I saw it in person, it turned out to be a giant inflatable toy!

The Magic School Bus Visits Jurassic Park
It was an ordinary day at Walkerville Elementary School, or so it seemed. Miss Frizzle, known for her vibrant outfits and quirky teaching methods, had a surprise planned for her class. Today, they were going on an extraordinary field trip.
As the students filed into the classroom, they noticed Miss Frizzle standing next to the Magic School Bus, wearing a dress covered in dinosaur prints.
"Good morning, class!" Miss Frizzle greeted them with a wide smile. "Today, we are going to visit a place where the past comes to life. Are you ready to see some dinosaurs?"
The students cheered in excitement. They had been learning about dinosaurs, and the idea of seeing them in person was thrilling.
"Seat belts, everyone!" Miss Frizzle called out as they boarded the bus. With a twist of her key and a flash of magic, the school bus transformed into a time-traveling vehicle. Moments later, they found themselves on Isla Nublar, the site of the world-renowned Jurassic Park.
The bus came to a stop near the visitor center. As the students stepped out, they were greeted by Dr. John Hammond, the park's creator.
"Welcome to Jurassic Park!" Dr. Hammond said with a twinkle in his eye. "Miss Frizzle and I thought it would be wonderful for you to experience this incredible place."
Arnold, always cautious, raised his hand. "Are you sure this is safe?"
Miss Frizzle laughed. "With science, anything is possible! But safety first, everyone."
Dr. Hammond led them on a tour, showing off the incredible technology used to bring dinosaurs back to life. The students marveled at the massive gates and the lush greenery of the park.
Their first stop was the Brachiosaurus paddock. The students gasped as they saw the towering creatures grazing peacefully. Phoebe, always full of questions, asked, "How did you bring them back?"
"DNA extraction and cloning," explained Dr. Hammond. "We found dinosaur DNA preserved in amber and filled in the gaps with DNA from frogs."
Just then, the ground shook, and a loud roar echoed through the park. Miss Frizzle looked around, concerned. "That didn't sound like a herbivore."
Dr. Hammond's face turned pale. "That was the Tyrannosaurus rex."
Miss Frizzle turned to the students. "Class, stay close together and follow me. We'll take the bus to a safer location."
As they hurried back to the bus, the park's power went out, and the electric fences lost their charge. The T-rex was on the loose.
"Hang on, everyone!" Miss Frizzle shouted as she started the bus. They drove through the park, dodging fallen trees and debris. They could hear the T-rex's roars growing closer.
Meanwhile, the rest of the park was in chaos. Dr. Sattler, Dr. Grant, and Dr. Malcolm were dealing with their own dinosaur encounters. Lex and Tim, Dr. Hammond's grandchildren, had gone missing.
Miss Frizzle decided they needed to help. "We're going to find Lex and Tim," she declared. "It's time for a little adventure."
Using the Magic School Bus's advanced features, they navigated the park's dangerous terrain. They found Lex and Tim hiding in a kitchen, pursued by two Velociraptors. Miss Frizzle and the students created a diversion, using pots and pans to make noise and draw the raptors away.
"Quickly, into the bus!" Miss Frizzle yelled. They all piled in, and she drove them to the visitor center, where the remaining survivors were gathering.
The students, along with Lex and Tim, reunited with Dr. Hammond and the others. Together, they devised a plan to restore the park's power and escape the island.
Arnold, despite his usual reluctance, volunteered to help Sattler restore the power. "I've got this," he said, surprising everyone, including himself.
With the power back on, they managed to secure the fences and contain most of the dinosaurs. However, the T-rex was still a threat.
Miss Frizzle had an idea. "We'll use the bus to lead the T-rex away from the visitor center." She transformed the bus into a larger-than-life dinosaur decoy. With the T-rex in hot pursuit, she drove it to a remote part of the island.
The group made their way to the helipad, where a helicopter was waiting to take them to safety. As they flew away, the students looked back at the island, amazed by what they had experienced.
"Remember, class," Miss Frizzle said, "adventure is out there, but always respect the power of nature."
The helicopter soared into the sky, leaving Jurassic Park behind. The students couldn't wait to tell their families about their incredible journey. They had seen real dinosaurs, faced danger, and learned the importance of science and teamwork.
As they returned to Walkerville, the Magic School Bus landed softly back at the school. The students filed out, still buzzing with excitement.
"Thank you, Miss Frizzle," Arnold said, finally relaxing. "That was... amazing."
Miss Frizzle smiled. "I'm glad you enjoyed it, Arnold. Remember, class, learning never stops. Now, who’s ready for our next adventure?"
The students cheered, eager for whatever surprises Miss Frizzle had in store for them next. After all, with the Magic School Bus, anything was possible.

Just wanted to share some thoughts with you guys about The Magic School Bus reboot. When I first saw it, I absolutely hated it!! Now, to understand why I hated it, first you need to understand where I'm coming from and that this is my opinion. So, before the reboot came out in 2017, I was actually met with the original TV show back in 2015. It was more amazing than I ever expected it to be. Yes, the original Magic School Bus was that big of a deal to me when I was a kid. Not only did I love the original show, but I also read the Magic School Bus books. And let me just say, you would never get me to close a Magic School Bus book until I was finished with it. Fast forward maybe 3-5 years, and I start watching The Magic School Bus reboot on Netflix. Well, let's just say, at first glance, it looked like it was gonna be great. But then, tragedy struck. While I do agree that a couple new characters be added to the show, you know, to help them get accustomed to the premise of Walkerville Elementary School, what I really didn't like was how, in order to do so, Netflix made it seem like it would work if they snipped away one of the original characters. Guess who they snipped away. I'll give you 3 seconds. If you guessed Phoebe, yep, you're correct. I thought that was a very stupid move on Netflix's part. Which, EXCUSE ME NETFLIX, but the fact you added new characters, which, again is awesome, but then snipped away one of the original main characters, honestly gives me every right to be ticked off. Yeah. I know Phoebe wouldn't shut up about her old school, but I believe that's what made her unique. We got to learn a lot of about what happened at Phoebe's old school when she brings it up. That's one of the main reasons I loved her character. The other reason is because she's a lot like Fluttershy from My Little Pony. But, without the shy part. She LOVES animals and is very gentle with them. Just like Fluttershy. So, there. Plus, she's been on that ride since the beginning when the author of The Magic School Bus books, Joanna Cole, began publishing them in the middle of the 1980s. Presumably, around 1984-1985. Then, PBS made their own adaptation of the books that ran from 1994-1997 on all their PBS stations. After that, we got some Magic School Bus chapter books that would be published in 2000. The DVDs for the show became available in Autumn of 2005. And they were distributed by, holy Freddy Fazbear, Warner Bros. Heck, yeah!! Now we just need a Magic School Bus and Scooby Doo crossover. Heh heh. I'm kidding!! But, for real though!! Anywho. Brushing that idea aside. So, all in all, the original Magic School Bus was amazing!! You can't change my mind. So, then, 12 years later, we got the reboot to The Magic School Bus. The Magic School Bus Rides Again. And, it's less than stellar. I actually like the character designs. But, I wished they kept some important things like the kids ethnic features, and they still could've kept Phoebe. But, nope!! Netflix really had to go to Phoebe and fire her from the only show she's ever probably even called home. I will never ever forgive Netflix for ruining a good show. So, in conclusion, I WOULD RATHER WATCH THE ORIGINAL MAGIC SCHOOL BUS THAN WATCH THAT FAILURE OF A REBOOT!! GOOD NIGHT!!!

My part of my art trade with @echoes-lighthouse!
(As a reminder, I’m open for art/writing trades!)
It was the end of the school day for Walkerville Elementary school. Kids were bustling down the halls to leave the building, excited to spend the rest of the day at home, with friends, or doing after school activities. During this time, the teachers would tend to their end of day duties; for the teachers, this meant tidying their classrooms, organizing materials, and getting their lessons ready for the next day.
Vallerie Frizzle was no exception. She may have rather “odd” quirks only known to her and her students, but getting her classroom readied for the next day was not something she could do with a flicker of her earrings. However, she couldn’t complain of it, in fact, she found a certain joy in making sure her students had the best learning environment possible. She cared about her students greatly, and always enjoyed brainstorming about her next field trip idea. As she checked the chairs atop the desks and any loose items about the multicolored floors, she began humming a little song to herself, cheerily going about her duties as Liz rose from her slumber.
“Ah! Hello Liz, did you have a good rest?” She asked gently, smiling as the reptile replied with a nod. “Splendid. You caught me just in time actually, I was just about to finish cleaning for the day before I head home.”
She was about to return to just that, when she heard the door of her classroom creak open. Turning around, she was greeted with the sight of a fellow teacher dressed akin to her, with a pair of square glasses and a lopsided haircut.
“Pardon my sudden intrusion, but I hear you’re done for the day?” They said as they emerged from the doorway.
Frizzle’s face lit up. “Mx. Makovny! What a pleasant surprise!”
“Val, you know you can call me Echo outside of work hours.” They giggled.
“I know, I simply think both names are wonderful!” She exclaimed in her typical Frizzle fashion.
Echo shrugged with a grin. “Glad you think so, hehe.”
“So, what do I owe this lovely visit?”
“I just felt like seeing you is all, and it was an early release for the middle schoolers, so I took the opportunity.” They explained.
“Ah, well whatever the case, it's always a pleasure to have you in my classroom, dear.”
Echo took a quick glance around the now-tidied room. “Speaking of which, what did you get up to today?”
“Oh, we had a marvelous field trip!” Frizzle beamed.
“Really? Where did you go?” Echo sat themself on a table near Liz’s enclosure, smiling at her as she scuttled onto her arm playfully.
“Well, we actually never left the classroom, but the bus helped out so I consider it a field trip. Today the class was learning about rainbows and color, so I thought it would be helpful for them to see it up close and personal,” she motioned to her closet. “Liz and I recently built a rainbow pinball machine, and it worked wonders for showing the kids how light works!”
“Wow, that sounds like fun!”
“It certainly was. In fact, two of my students, Carlos and Dorthy Anne, seemed to be in a bit of a quarrel beforehand; but this field trip helped them both to learn and work together.”
“It’s good to hear your class is engaging so much with your field trips.” Echo commented.
“They’re all such good learners and wonderful students, I couldn’t ask for a better class.”
Echo let Liz crawl off their arm, and thought for a moment before standing up. “You know,” she walked over to Frizzle, tenderly placing their hands around her arm. “It makes me really happy to see you so passionate about your class and teaching them. Even beyond as a fellow teacher, it just… Makes me happy to see you happy.”
Frizzle’s expression softened into a gentler smile. “Teaching makes me very happy, yes, but it's not the only thing that brings me joy.” she giggled.
The other teacher blushed as she looked to the side, heart fluttering at the compliment. However, their eyes turned more sullen as they began darting about the floor. Frizzle noticed immediately, concern spreading on her face.
“Echo, dear? Is everything alright?”
“Well, I- Its nothing really,” they sputtered. “It’s just… I’ve been thinking about us, and how we’re not really out to anyone. You’ve always been so proud of who you are Val, and I’m scared that I’m taking part of that away from you. I don’t want you to feel like you’re hiding something or sneaking around, especially to your students.”
Frizzle was quite shocked to hear this. Echo never before expressed any doubts like this about their relationship. Was it something she did? How long did they feel this way?
“Love, have I done anything to make you feel this way?”
“Oh, oh no! You haven’t done anything wrong! I’m just…” She paused. “... Scared, I suppose. Scared you may start to feel this way.”
“My dear, I want to assure you that I am perfectly content with our relationship in whatever manner we go about it. What matters to me is that you’re comfortable and happy, and if that means our meetings are more private, than that is perfectly fine with me; and I certainly never feel like I’m hiding anything.
Her partner visibly relaxed, a simile returning to their face. “It makes me feel a lot better to hear that, Val. Thank you.”
“Anything for you~” She gave them a peck on the cheek. “Now, a little birdie told me a new smoothie place has opened up downtown. What do you say we check it out? My treat.”
“Sounds like a date!”

So I decided that I’ll go in with the Magic School Bus business this year due to A: nostalgia for the show since I watched it back in elementary school and B: I has a 30th anniversary this year so I need to celebrate it. Mostly I’ll focus on sharing some art here and writing fanfics featuring our favorite group of kids. (One is already published on FFN: https://m.fanfiction.net/s/14317197/1/Back-to-the-Age-of-the-Dinosaurs). Here are some HCs of mine:
-Walkerville is in Canada, so the whole gang are Canadians
-Phoebe and Ralphie are step-siblings
-Wanda is a lesbian, it is fact.
-the gang started with Wanda, Tim, Carlos, and Ralphie since kindergarten. Arnold, Keesha, and DA didn’t join until 1st grade and Phoebe didn’t join until third grade. This means Ms. Frizzle’s class is in the 4th grade.
-Rides Again is non-canon. It ruined the dynamics of the group and they replaced Phoebe.

I have a headcanon question: since in your HC DA is a Trekkie, would she tell Ms. Frizzle to have the bus turn into the Enterprise when the asteroid is approaching Walkerville Elementary?
Possibly!
Even though D.A. is very worried about the asteroid, she’s secretly excited. She is thinking, “oh wow this is just like Star Trek!”
After Dorothy Ann herself, Carlos and Wanda are the two biggest Star Trek fans at the time.

For the gang: Has there been a time where one of your pets decided to sneak into Walkerville Elementary without your knowledge?
Wanda: Well… Waffles has stowed away in my backpack a few times.
Phoebe: And sometimes Joxter follows me to school.

a view of walkerville elementary during winter as seen in the holiday special. i think it’s interesting to note the parking lot and large stretch of asphalt behind the school - and in the top left corner is what appears to be a backstop for baseball, such as the one seen in ‘plays ball’.

um so you know about that thing i said i was gonna do... i wrote a song...
i hope it’s not to cringy, you can give it a listen.
but you’re gonna need the lyrics! my voice is quiet and bad and muddled. please excuse that lol :’]
(the lyrics are under the cut)
preamble:
it isn’t elementary
and we’re not very high
cuz the kids from walkerville
are in middle school now, good luck you guys!
with a sigh “it’s nothing new, right?
we’ve faced worse before!”
so innocent, so naive
you won’t be the same anymore
*cue a cool little riff*
part 1:
welcome to the new year
the earth spins around and around and around
you have nothing to fear
as we delve deeper under the ground!
tectonic plates! (tectonic plates!)
shifting rock and shifting state of mind!
change continental shapes
leave your old life behind!
part 2:
can you feel the blood rush?
heat eating my heart and my soul and my skin
as we ride in the school bus
forget permission slips, we’re going in!
this is nothing new (oh, nothing new)
it’s just like the year before
even though i’m here with you
it’s just not the same anymore
chorus:
convergent, divergent, no matter the vocab word
we’re pulling apart
transform my emotion, you’re forming ocean ridges
deep inside my heart
the earthquake, the tremor, what’s it like to remember
that stability
the earth’s always changing, and i can’t handle change
when you’re not with me
*cool epic riff again*
part 3:
now my soul is burning
as we delve into fiery pits of heck
magma tears at my yearning
cuz i’m just a stupid nervous wreck!
where did you go? (where did you go?)
the fault line lies in front of me
i need to know (where did you go?)
didn’t wanna die this week...
chorus:
convergent, divergent, no matter the vocab word
we’re pulling apart
transform my emotion, you’re forming ocean ridges
deep inside my heart
the earthquake, the tremor, what’s it like to remember
that stability
the earth’s always changing, and i can’t handle change
when you’re not with me
*cool epic riff*
divergent, divergent, there is no subduction zone
no overlap
but i’d rather you leave me, cuz i don’t want collision
confrontation is a trap
goodbye, no pangea, no bestest buds forever
supercontinent
the earth is still spinning, i’m sorry and i hope you know
that’s what i meant <3
