de Kelders, Western Cape
Looking out at Walker Bay and the site of my gallops the previous day.  Miles and miles of golden sand stretching all the way to Hermanus.  Backdrop of pristine sand dunes, fynbos and the Overberg Mountains.

Honingklip brewery
Birkenhead Brewery
As this is my very first blogpost I thought I’d start with home. So most of you know Hermanus as the Whale Capitol, however there is so much more to see and do than just whale watching.
A lot of activities in and around Hermanus is weather permitting, so I get asked a lot ‘what do you do when it rains’. My answer is always ‘we eat and we drink’. Trust me when I say this. Our local wines are top quality and it’s well worth taking a tour through the Hemel-and-Aarde Valley’s wine farms and there’s no better guide than Percy from Percy Tours .
If wine’s not your thing, we have a few craft beer breweries too. There’s Birkenhead Brewery and Walkerbay Estate in Stanford (25 km from Hermanus) and Honingklip Brewery towards Botrivier (25km from Hermanus). Both places have a restaurant that I would describe as serving comfort food.
Visit the art galleries. There are around 13 galleries in the town centre alone showing a wide variety of different art forms. Do take note of the First Fridays, where every 1st Friday of the month the galleries stay open until 8pm and they serve snacks and wine. Take note that the art works are for sale. So be careful not to follow in my footsteps and drink a little too much wine and end up going home with beautiful piece of local art. Actually do follow in my footsteps, because I love that painting and can’t stop staring at it.
That’s all I’ve got for today.
Until next time, happy travels

South Africa Cape Town - Hermanus Day 3
Alloggiamo all’HARBOUR House Hotel.

Fiche technique Optimist
- Longueur : 2,36m - Largeur : 1,12m - Tirant d’eau : 01/0,8m - Poids : 35kg - Surface de voiles : 3,59mÂČ - Hauteur du mĂąt : 2,26m Read the full article
