Time to Wake Up!

thinking about how desperately melinoë needed a parent growing up that she saw a mother in hecate. hecate denies this so adamantly not only because it feels like a betrayal to her actual parents, not only because melinoë will never actually get to be her daughter if she were to let herself get that close, but because hecate was always using her. that's not what family is, that's not what she deserves, that's not what she should learn to correlate with familial love. that is something hecate can never teach; not while teaching the rest. hecate pushes melinoë away for her sake, because she cares about her, but in reality it just leaves melinoë feeling even more lost and alone and without guide. she still doesn't know what a mother is actually 'meant' to be like. she just knows it's something she's told about, something she misses, and something hecate refuses to be for her. there's a hole that can't be filled and nothing is allowed to be 'close enough'. a part of her is still doomed to compare the two. absolutely gutwrenching

i just saw an interaction between nemesis and melinoë where they are talking about hypnos and melinoë says that she thinks he looks beautiful and wise even asleep, like a true child of nyx. so nemesis is like 'sure. i want to be around you when you see him wake up btw :))' and melinoë is like 'aww thanks :D' which can only be the set-up of a future joke

Okay but like hypnos was sooooo real for entering an eternal slumber, he saw the house of hades fall to cronos and everything go to shit and went “y’know what? wake me up when this is over” and that is EXACTLY what I would do in that situation

(Note to self: whenever I'll get to him, Cody will get the Mando treatment at best because I'm still big mad that he has no flowing fabric on him and that really trips up my sketching process. I'm still undecided about Wolffe though, since he's got his kama which is nice, but on the other hand he also has that facial hair situation going on in Rebels that's grown on me far less than Rex's beard...)

Hades II (Olympus Update) Spoilers

So yk how Thanatos in the dreamscape is on a seat? Similar to Hypnos’ old one?

Remember how Hypnos only wanted to hang out with Thanatos in the previous game and tempted him to stay and rest?

In this dreamscape he imagines Than sitting down for a change and actually, honest to gods, resting. Granted his eyes aren’t closed, I guess even Hypnos can’t imagine his brother sleeping during his break.

Also despite the last game describing Hades having a soft spot for him, as soft as he can manage anyway, Hypnos sees him as a looming figure, fire burning with anger, with mounds and mounds of paperwork surrounding him. Hades probably worries for him in the real world, yet Hypnos only knows Hades’ disdain.

And a long, long, line of shades for Hypnos to sign in and take care of, despite the previous game not having nearly as many at a given time.

So, in summary, Hypnos imagines his boss as a sort of tyrant who gives him loads of work to do, and even though Thanatos told him all kinds of horrible things, Hypnos forgave him, and only wants him to take a break. To rest. Like he did.

And now his twin will never be able to, and Hypnos is stuck in this fake reality until Mel can find a way out for him. Hypnos would rather be in a place with infinite workloads and no respect than a world where everything he knows and loves is gone.

in hades 2, they split the role of hypnos (comic relief greeter character that gives you useless advice after you die) between two different characters: dora (funny greeter) and odysseus (giver of useless advice)

I hope the explanation as to why Sleepy Bitch Hypnos has become sleeping beauty in hades 2 is bc they wouldnt let my sleepy bitch sleep in hades 1. Kept waking my boy up to do clerical work, and now he's just catching up on beauty sleep.
