Some stuff in earlier WAHP episodes hasn’t aged great but the three ex-Gamefan hosts (including @pikoeri and @nickroxnrx) provided perspective and insights on the Japanese game industry and Japanese gaming culture from the now-distant years of 2010-2012 that I hadn’t heard elsewhere.

(Also it was their contemporary incessant fanboyism of Demon’s Souls and then Dark Souls–this was a period where Japanese console gaming was at something of a low point as the industry there had bet big on handheld gaming rather than investing in learning how to make games in HD, but certain things were developing that in hindsight we now know become huge later, like the Souls games and Yakuza/Like a Dragon–that, listening to it now all these years later, finally got me to try that series for myself.)

I keep thinking about "wauce" and I asked mom what's the funniest way she could think of to mispronounce wasp and she said "weesp" XD

Earlier I said "wahps". Mainly because I can't pronounce certain words properly all the time but also partially because not saying wasp correctly is something my broken humor has grown fond of. There was another wasp stuck in my room. No clue how they keep getting in but they're a lot nicer than the ants and don't behave like a nuisance in the hundreds or do vile acts while I attempt to sleep like the ants do so I'm fine with a wasp getting in every few days.

But I look at the funny little dude buzzing around and point at the door while saying "Wahps. It will be safer for you outside. Go the away"

and I can't help but to think it was funny

Cornerstone Thingey

Okay so @sothischickshe tagged me in the fic cornerstone thingey for the series What love has bound together, time cannot unbind like I have any idea what I’m doing with this series, but I suppose I’ll take a shot at it. and she later tagged me for We’ll Always Have Paris AGAIN LATER, like YES I SEE YOU - tumblr has been terrible with showing me being tagged.  --- So part one is I’m In The Dark, I’d Like To Read His Mind. It’s only the second fic I wrote for GG and I published it almost a year ago. Like any other instance I set out to write PWP, it ended up having at least the set up of a plot (which will obvs circle back later). I just really want them to exist in the crime world as separate bosses! It’s my dream, and there wasn’t really anything with that premise out there so I wrote it myself. Also - had a vision about sex in glass elevators, so why not combine the two. Of course by chapter two FEELINGS came into play like IM TRYING TO WRITE PWP HERE. (Come to think about it, I published this fic the day we went into lockdown?? Way to truly compartmentalize) I last worked on this fic in april last year, but I had set up the possibility that Beth and Rio might travel to Paris to extend their business - because art hoe hipster Rio and field trip mom Beth visiting there sounded absolutely hilarious to me.  BUT OF COURSE again like underlying themes slipped in (like they kind of always do in my fics) while I was fantasizing about We’ll Always Have Paris, one of the most prominent in this being loneliness - but more specifically Beth feeling alone while she’s also surrounded by people she loves. Her kids are all teens and becoming their own person, she’s divorced and never held onto a new person very long, Dean is in steady relationship, both Ruby and Annie are happy with their own families - she’s feeling detached. Timewise I headcanon that the series started in October 2017, and Beth and Rio have know each other for over six in this fic, placing this fic in February 2024. In the mean time Beth has started to run her own business, occasionally working with Rio when they have to. But personally they’ve had a few phases: not seeing each other at all, a few streaks of FWBs, but never truly romantically. Even if there have been a few opportunities for that.  Now I could have explored these themes in any setting - but I wanted to strip them of their shell of familiarity, and place them somewhere where it’s not only just them - but in a situation where they have to rely on each other even if there’s lingering distrust. Of course these communicative disasters respond differently - while it pushes Beth hesitantly over the emotional threshold towards Rio, Rio withdraws instantly and shields himself - making Beth doubt whether there was anything between them at all, if she’s not just acting on wanting to have someone instead of Rio specifically.  Wait, what was I doing. Yes, cornerstones. So overall theme it’s loneliness (something we already know from canon Rio deals with to a degree) but Beth now acknowledges in herself is a prominent feeling - and whether this is something that will pull them together, or push them apart.  I tag - apologies in advance if you’ve already been tagged - @bourbon-ontherocks for  We're Living In A Powder Keg And Giving Off Sparks - @wakeupflawless for Halo - and @sothischickshe for found my thrill
