Some of the rather excellent, character concept artwork from the 1998 Sega title made in conjunction with Westone, TNS Co. Ltd and more.
Wachenröder / バッケンローダー
Borrowed these scans from the great Hardcore Gaming 101 feature on the game. They all come from the free included art book with every copy of the game, admittedly we have cleaned up the colour somewhat and the scan quality could be better so that’s another one for Randomised Gmaing to scan in again at some point. We do have a copy and it’s one of the many games we should produce a video on in the future.
The game was quite a big title for Sega with a number of studios and artists involved with the project. Build as a steampunk story title it’s a solid tactical RPG, that just got overshadowed by the trilogy of Shining Force III on Saturn in 1998 as it just wasn’t as good.

DAY 1611) Wachenröder - If We are Reduced, Oh Fate, Look Deeply into Us
Composer: Takayuki Negishi, Kennosuke Suemura, Satoshi Miyashita, CHAMY
7/8 through the whole thing, but VERY hard to follow it as such because it’s so erratic at some parts.
Really finally getting close to the end of this crazily odd-time-filled ost, only a few left!

Erika Wagner.
Somehow became my secondary main in UNICLR (which I downloaded yesterday). Must have something to do with the fact that her attacks all have German names, which (as everyone knows) is the best language to scream things in. My favorite move is still Wachenröder (623B), because it's a jumping spinning flame kick. How can you not like that?
Reference for this drawing is a frame during Wagner's 5C. Wagner's design here is mostly normal, but I gave her the white tights from her Abyss Walker palette, because otherwise it looks like she's not wearing pants.
