there's the soft crunch of autumn leaves beneath their feet, the sidewalk leading to the back alley behind the apartment building painted in bright marigolds and rich carmine. the weather has turned colder in the last few days, and the trees have grown barren from the harsh winds that have swept by, leaving their leaves to scatter around the ground in a sea of autumnal aesthetics. it's a picturesque sight, like something out of a magazine she's seen at the checkout line at fresh fields, but danbi finds it a little bittersweet to experience the seasons change. she wants to indulge in the last few weeks of harvest bliss, but knowing that the warm colors coating the ground will soon vanish and be replaced with the cold touch of winter leaves her feeling a little unsettled, worried.

"it's getting colder out, don't you think?" danbi shivers slightly, bracing herself as the breeze picks up, drawing the container of cat food closer to her chest as she walks beside insu. to someone looking from the outside in, the two of them might seem like an odd pair - insu being the embodiment of leather jackets, ripped jeans and the remnants of cigarette smoke and patchouli, while danbi is everything soft and gentle and cream-colored, the personification of warm florals and light, but cozy knits. but truthfully, she's never once considered how the two of them might look when walking side by side. after all, she's only seen insu as insu, never haven taken his outward appearance into consideration. to danbi, insu is someone she likes to spend time with, and someone who she considers kind, generous and has a good heart.

"hopefully the kitties won't be too cold tonight. i'll have to bring them some blankets tomorrow," she continues as the two of them make their way towards some cardboard boxes at the back of the alley, a makeshift home of sorts that her and insu put together besides some food and water bowls. as if on cue, several cats emerge from the boxes and nearby trash cans, all meowing in greeting and curling their tails around her and insu's ankles. the two of them have gotten into such a routine of feeding the stray cats together over the last few weeks that it seemed like the felines have caught on themselves and have now recognized them, making sure to greet the two of them.

"hello everyone," danbi returns their greetings with a smile, soft laugh falling from her lips as she tries not to trip over them to get towards the bowls. "we're here, we're here! no need to push," she says gently, watching the cats crowd one another as they wait for their supper to be poured. danbi undoes the container before she does a quick head count, pausing before she fills up the bowls as she scans over the animals once more. one, two, three . . . she blinks, head tilting, and turns to insu after doing one more count for good measure, concern pulling at her brows. someone seems to be missing, someone who usually is one of the first to be lined up for dinner time. "do you see tux anywhere?"

The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow across the room. You sat on the edge of the bed, watching as Umemiya finished his shower, his hair damp and unruly. He always took great care of his hair, meticulously styling it every morning, but today you offered to help.

"Let me do your hair today," you said, smiling as you picked up the hairdryer and flat iron.

Umemiya paused, slightly surprised, then smiled back. "Alright, but don't mess it up," he teased, sitting down in front of you.

You chuckled, feeling a flutter of warmth in your chest. "I promise I won't."

As you carefully dried his hair, you couldn't help but admire the way it shone under the light. His hair had always been soft and silky, and you loved the way it framed his face when it was styled just right.

Once his hair was dry, you picked up the flat iron, gently running it through each section of his hair. Umemiya closed his eyes, enjoying the feeling of your hands working through his locks. It was a rare moment of intimacy, one that made your heart swell with affection.

"There," you said softly, smoothing down the last strand. "Perfect."

Umemiya opened his eyes and turned to look at you, a playful grin on his lips. "How do I look?”

"Handsome as always," you replied, leaning in to plant a kiss on his forehead.

He chuckled, reaching up to cup your cheek. "Thank you, my love." he said, his voice soft and sincere.

As he stood up to get dressed, you felt a sense of contentment wash over you. These simple moments, these quiet mornings spent together, were what made your relationship with Umemiya so special.

And as he turned to leave for the day, you couldn't resist calling out, "Don't forget to come back home looking just as handsome, okay?"

Umemiya laughed, waving as he headed out the door. "I'll try my best!"

As the door closed behind him, you found yourself smiling, already looking forward to the next morning you could spend together.
