ㅤㅤthe silence hovers amongst them, tense in their met stares. it is childe who breaks their gazes to pour the man a newly steeped cup. gloved fingers offer the cup to the kamisato symbol himself. a hum in his throat as azure blues dance in quiet amusement. kazuha   grew   up   somewhat   sheltered   /   didn’t   really   have   anyone   his   age   around   him   until   he   was   a   little   older   so   he   counts   ayato    (   and ayaka   too   )     among   the   first   few   friends   he   ever   had   in   life.   there   was   a   small   window   of   time   in   their   youth ,   before   ayato’s   parents   passed ,   that   they   were   able   to   see   each   other   a   fair amount   and   while   it   probably   didn’t   really   .  .  .   last   very   long ,   kazuha   still   thinks   fondly   of   that   time.   growing    up   he   missed   ayato   after   stepping   up   as   yashiro   commissioner ,   more   than   he   ever   admitted.

building on   that ,   he   sometimes   worries   that   ayato   secretly   looks   down   on   him   for   his   decisions?   kazuha   is   so   conscious   of   how   hard   ayato   works   and   how   he   gives   his   everything   for   family   and   is   very   aware   that   he   himself   yielded   to   a  very   similar   /   if   not   the   same   challenge.   he   doesn’t   really   feel   bad   about   pursuing   a   more   leisurely   life   but   he   does   respect   and   look   up   to   ayato   a   lot  as   someone   he   wouldn’t   want to   disappoint.

kazuha   is   and   always   will   be   a   very   easy   target   for   ayato’s   culinary   escapades.   he   is   the   fussiest   eater   ever   and   it’s   painfully   obvious   when   he   doesn’t   like   something   and   yet     —     he   will   very   politely   try   to   eat   anything   placed   in   front   of   him   by   a   dear   friend   and   feel   absolutely   terrible   about   hating   every   minute   of   it.   please   don’t   invite   him   over   for   dinner   bc   his   heart   CAN’T   take   it.     

wherever   in   teyvat   kazuha   might   be ,   he   is   always   at   ayato’s   disposal.   he   doesn’t   believe   that   he   can   ever   repay   ayato   for   the   amount   of   risk   that   was   taken   in   helping   get   him   out   of   inazuma   safely    —    in   such   a   high   position   with   his   own   people   to   worry   about   looking   after ,   too.   and   so   he   can’t   ever   find   it   within   himself   to   say   no   or turn down   any   request.   as   clear   as   it   might   be   that   he   does   not   want   to   work   within   any   proximity   of   the   tri-commission ,   and   wherever   his   travels   take   him ,   he   will   always   come   back   if   called   upon   by   ayato.   in   kazuha’s   eyes   he   is   bound   by   more   than   friendship :   he   likely owes   him   his   life.
