FinnPoe Tournament Round One💫
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poll 1/8 Matchup:
The Force Awakens - Finn and Poe reunite on D'Qar after the Battle of Takodana. During the conversation that follows, Poe notices that Finn is wearing his jacket, but insists, "Keep it. It suits you." Then he bites his lip and tells him he's a good man. You know, how straight people talk to each other.
vs.
The Last Jedi - Attempting to escape the soon-to-be overtaken base on Crait, the last remaining members of the Resistance follow a group of vulptices only to realize the hole in the rocks is too small for them to escape through. From the outside, Rey discovers the pile of rocks and uses the Force to lift them. Poe and Finn are first out of the hole and are 1000% holding hands under the cut at the bottom of the frame.

Glitter and Cats
For the ask game, please and thank you! Need something silly right now.
oooh i like this one!! as soon as i saw glitter, I thought of the surface of crait covered in salt-and the vulptices (those crystal foxes) cover the cat part at a stretch. it’s canon that the rebellion considered establishing a base there at one point (though they didn’t end up doing so). so my idea is that reader accompanies luke, han and leia there to explore the planet and ends up making friends with a vulptex kit! maybe they get the kit to take food from their hand, or they find the kit injured and tend to its wounds. and then when they run into trouble the kit repays their kindness by leading the gang to safety :3

still working on the Star Wars AU, here's what i currently have:
HUMANS (combination of siblings and strings AU, but without the implants)
Vanessa = ex Jedi padawan that got possessed by Darth Afton's spirit on a mission. (think of a more traumatised kanan jarus)
Gregory = Vanessa's younger, also force sensitive, Brother. Not a jedi, stole an entire force-damned Venator star destroyer during order 66 (mix of ep 1 anakin & ezra)
Afton = ancient sith (active 300 years ago), killed by his own power armor changing to battle-droid mode with him still in it
Micheal & Jeremy = temple guards
missing kids + evan = jedi initiate clan Micheal & Jeremy rescued
ANIMATRONICS (all are canonical species in the star wars universe)
Freddy = Garu-Bear Bonnie = Lepi Chica = Calibop Monty = Trandoshan Roxy = Loth-Wolf Foxy = Vulptices
Staff Bots = not much changed, same model series as the FA-4 pilot droids
wet floor bots = astromech/mouse droid mix
Cool stuff, friend!

⪧  vulptex (pl. vulptices)
“The idea is that these wonderful sort of feral creatures had lived on this planet (Crait) and had consumed the planet’s surface, and as such had become crystalline. They live within the burrows and within the tunnels beneath the planet,” Neal Scanlan, head of the Star Wars creature shop, says. “So there is a time where their ability to shine within the darkness, should provide a guiding light to our heroes.”
The creatures were designed by Aaron McBride and Pablo Hidalgo came up with their name from the Latin word for fox, and the name of the fox genus, vulpes and vertices (singular: vertex), or the corners of any polyhedron, a shape assimilated with crystals.

I did a few illustrations of the foxes leading the rebels out of darkness, to show how their bodies refracted the light of the escape route and thus led the rebels to it. – Aaron McBride, ILM Senior Art Director, VFX Art Director

I like that fathiers and vulptices exist for specific plot reasons, while porgs exist because they had to hide all those puffins

Day 7 of the 2018 365 art challenge.
The crystal foxes from The Last Jedi. I thought they had an elegant design, and I didn’t have any other ideas (or motivation) for today. Pretty happy with this, even if it took me half the day and several ninja sex party songs to get this done…
