The Everilles had been a recent client of the midwives. Odilie liked to follow up on her mothers, however this checkup was more for enjoyment. Sybil and Avis were peas in a pod, and Della and Odilie had soothed the rockiness in their relationship. Both families quite liked one another. The matriarch, Mary, of course, inquired on "What sort of witchcraft are ya using now a'days?" Her son let out a sigh of embarrassment, but Odilie wasn't bothered and instead laughed.

Once the woodcutters went home, Odilie poured her and her daughter a warm glass of ale.

Odilie: "It is a dear shame Peter Everille is so young. You'd make an excellent match."

Avis: "It is a great relief, than, that you are immune to commitment." Avis returned in jest. It was no secret in the village that Mr. Fairburne had mysteriously disappeared after threatening his wife. Odilie had rejected several marriage proposals after that.

Odilie: "You'd be correct I suppose." She mused. "The guild has recognized me as a senior journeyman, it will only be a few more years before they recognize me as a master. Once that occurs, Mari Everille shall become my apprentice alongside you. Her parents believe that is best for her. She's very intelligent."

Avis: "That will be different."

The women went to bed. Odilie had sent a tidy sum of $1828 coin to the treasury. The matriarch slept well knowing her family was afloat and surviving for another season.

The mother and daughter duo worked quickly to sow their summer seeds. Vegetables for personal use along with various herbal necessities such as chamomile, nettle, and aloe. Odilie had also bought tea and coffee plants which now growing in abundance around the hut. Jynx, the faithful cat of the midwives, was not forgotten about during the planting rush.

After the mysterious disappearance of the former Mr. Fairburne, the Fairburne household contains his widower, Odilie, and their teen daughter Avis. Most choose not to ponder on the disappearance too much, after all who is going to accuse the village’s only midwife of murder? Besides being healers, the Fairburnes raise chickens.

-> Odilie Fairburne is one of those sims it’s hard not to like. She’s charming and charismatic, and not to mention an excellent midwife. So, when Odilie’s husband mysteriously died one day, no one batted an eye. Most hadn’t liked him anyway. The ones that had liked him were too scared to dig into his death, as they feared they would end up six feet under too.

A party was held to celebrate Peter's birthday, but it also served a strategic purpose. The woodcutters were a necessary staple of the community, Veonia relied on the Everilles to be a strong family. Showcasing a returned Thorley, a growing brood of well rounded children, and presenting a very well stocked store front were just a few of the benefits.

Many of the village's citizens were content enough to just be fed Della's delicious cooking.

The wife of the Squire arrived unexpectantly to the Fairburne hut. She had a pressing request for the head midwife.

Lady Erika: You're well aware I have three children now, and myself and the Squire are quite content with them. Another child would be strenuous and-

Odilie: My Lady, you need not an explanation. My services are available regardless of the situation. I have just the tea for you. Brew it once a day, preferably at night to avoid nausea.

Avis stays up until her mother gets home, often just to help her smile after a long day.

Odilie travels each morning before dawn the near by city of St. Clair to attend the midwife's guild. When she is needed she services Veonia of course, but most of her time is spent there. Odilie attends classes and assists with births in the larger city. One day Odilie will be a master midwife, then she will be the one in charge. That day is most likely not far away, as Odilie charm and skill have allowed her to rise in prowess. For now, she returns home after dusk with some minor coin for her time.

Another client of Odilie's, Della Everille came by. She was picking up some tea, chamomile and red raspberry leaf. Once again the two women were at odds. Differing opinions on the proper technique of baby sleeping led to a heated arguement.

Avis could hear the growls and shouts from the garden. She thought it was a shame the two mothers couldn't get along as well as their daughters.

The villagers of Veonia, young and old, flocked to the Nyberg fish stand. Everyone knew that Norde provided quality meat at a fair price.

The midwives stayed through Lilly's first day and that night. The woodcutter's home was clean and smelling fresh from summer herbs. Odilie's meal went over well, Peter finishing his portion so quickly he drank tea to settle his stomach.

Thorley made sure the midwives were paid well. A collection of firewood for the winter months and assorted woodland treats, mushrooms, nuts, and berries, were gifted to the fair haired woman.

The house, smelling sweet, had never been so happy for so long. Even the matriarch, Mary, had nothing rude to comment on.

Odile Fairburne was used to the curiosity surrounding her practice. She much preferred the endless questions of "why" and "what" from children than them developing the taste of "witch" in their mouths. Peter inquired about the basics. "Why does mommy have to drink that tea?" or "What are you making that smells so good?"

Mari on the other hand was concerned with what was in the tea her mother was drinking to recover and why the midwife knew chamomile was so effective. Odilie was impressed with the girl's mind. The midwife recognized the girl's hunger for knowledge. Perhaps, the girl would make an excellent student.

A third daughter, Lilly, is born.

Della's birth was drawing near and she retired to the home. The Fairburnes made another appearance to the Everille hut, this time with the intent to stay until a baby was delivered. Avis and Sybil found each other's company almost immediately while Mary showed Odilie inside.

Della was not thrilled to see Odilie again and the women began to quarrel. Odilie was lost for words on how to better the situation. If Della could not be civil now, what would labor look like with the Midwife?

In attempt to deescalate the situation Odilie gave a sly smile and made a jest of the situation. Something along the lines of Baby Everille would think there was a storm to welcome him with all the noise. Della giggled, her neurotic mind grasping onto the opportunity to relax. Soon the midwife was able to gain trust.
