Thorley takes his youngest children to the forest to gather foodstuffs. Mari picks the ripe fruits she's able to reach. Meanwhile her father busies himself collecting berries and honey. Their hands are stained red and orange from the summer abundance. Peter takes to the local pond with a rod his family had gifted him. He has a knack for fishing.

Peter had been a newborn when Thorley had died. Seeing his son, a spitting image of his darling Della, was joy Thorley didn't know existed. Peter had never learned the word "Dada" before because he had never needed to use it. Thorley made sure his boy was fluent and that Peter understood he would always have a father.

Peter Everille was growing quickly. Whether it was his grandmother, sister, or mother watching him, Peter was constantly surrounded by love and care. While everyone else in the household had their own ghosts haunting them, Peter's biggest dilemma was deciding if he wanted to take his first steps.
As of late, Sybil had taken over much of Peter's care. Mary was beginning to refine her logs and Della had reopened the firewood stand.

Everille
Peasant Woodcutters
The Everille family is in deep morning after the death of the late Thorley Everille. Della is doing her best to comfort her children while Grandmother Mary works to distract them by teaching the trade.
-> Mary Everille has been the proud matriarch of the Everille clan for decades. When she was born, her family had just arrived off of the outcast ships. She grew up being one of the first to explore the woodlands. Her love for the outdoors was one of the reasons she was chosen as the woodcutter's wife. Mary wishes to impart as much knowledge as she can to her grandchildren. A staple of her home and the community, Mary's known for her sharp mouth.

Peter is glad to have a new sibiling and all, but she can't really do anything. And Sybil is too busy acting like a grownup with their parents and Mari has been following around those cool midwife ladies all day and Grandma is busy cutting wood, and and
Willow is still up to playing. Willow doesn't "grow up" like the rest of the household. Even in the dead of she can indulge Peter's childhood games. She evens comes to him when he calls, something Della had never been able to do with the cat.

Odile Fairburne was used to the curiosity surrounding her practice. She much preferred the endless questions of "why" and "what" from children than them developing the taste of "witch" in their mouths. Peter inquired about the basics. "Why does mommy have to drink that tea?" or "What are you making that smells so good?"
Mari on the other hand was concerned with what was in the tea her mother was drinking to recover and why the midwife knew chamomile was so effective. Odilie was impressed with the girl's mind. The midwife recognized the girl's hunger for knowledge. Perhaps, the girl would make an excellent student.

Della's words swam noisily in Sybil's mind. "...learning to be a wife." It made sense to Sybil, wives should know how to take care of children. Or at least, that was the expectation. But, every time she looked at sweet Peter he only looked liked her darling baby brother. Nothing about his wispy charcoal hair or shining silver eyes made her think of her future children. Her own children could look much the same as the Everille siblings, but that seemed so far away. Sybil could hardly imagine holding a baby that was her own rather than Peter.

Peter grows up with a certain "cowardice" haunting his heart. Luckily Amicia Westergaard was also a coward. The children bonded quickly, as did their grandparents.

Many considered it a very lucky thing that Peter Everille was too young to understand the goings about of his home. He did not remember his father and could not even comprehend the multitude of trouble his middle sister Mari had brought upon the family. Peter was simply content enjoying the warm summer heat.
Della felt differently. It was the ultimate tragedy that Peter would never know his father.
