A party was held to celebrate Peter's birthday, but it also served a strategic purpose. The woodcutters were a necessary staple of the community, Veonia relied on the Everilles to be a strong family. Showcasing a returned Thorley, a growing brood of well rounded children, and presenting a very well stocked store front were just a few of the benefits.
Many of the village's citizens were content enough to just be fed Della's delicious cooking.
On occasion, the matriarch would take a break from her strenuous wood chopping to spend some time with her grandchildren. It was much easier now for Mary to retire earlier in the day. Thorley was slowly beginning to take over his duties as head of the family. However, his workaholic wife Della wasn't quite ready to give up her title as the "saleswoman."
With the rest of the family away, Della and Peter were the only ones left to recieve the flurry of neighbors that arrived at the Everille Cabin. Hubert Linden had came to give his condolences and Sabia and Orlaith Griffyn had brought some ale. Della clicked well with the Griffyn women. They both had recently lost their own husbands and understood the raven hair's grief.
