Well, now I wonder what he was like before the whole Arcobaleno thing happened, and whether he actually was the same Reborn we know from his tutor days. *Imagine,* what if his tutor era is a "I am going to hell anyway, so I will eat those 7 bloody popsicles, thank you very much". What if he never indulged himself in a silly disguise before and it is his silly era. (Cue him wasting so much money on popsicles that by the time the curse is broken he is bankrupt and so he starts demanding that tutoring fee from Tsuna. Instead of going back to assassination jobs he just becomes Tsuna's trophy husband that lives his best life in luxury).
I saw your tags on the latest post and thought of how the Dying Flames bullets work and how it reflects Reborn living on a borrowed time, giving it his all before he inevitably dies. (And then he doesn't, so maybe he can relax a little bit?)
OH THATS SUCH A GOOD WAY OF THINKING ABOUT IT 😭 Its all a metaphor about him getting a second but limited chance to find a purpose to life....and he did!!!
Aw man everything does make sense after all, it's cool that after such a long time only now that I've learned about these things...I love KHR

Tsuna is kind. Tsuna is compassionate. Tsuna, unlike many bosses, does not see himself as more than simply because of his station.
The only people who are capable of bringing out the entitled, spoiled, possessive Mafia Prince - the tiny piece of Tsuna's heart that is a stereotypically behaved Vongolian Sky - are his closest family. And even then, they can only manage it in very specific circumstances.
Allow me to clarify:
Imagine Tsuna, in a café filled with rubble and smoke, looking down at Hayato's fallen form. He stares at the blood seeping out from Hayato's chest - the chest that was torn open when Hayato jumped in front of a bullet meant for Tsuna.
(The assassin's corpse is cooling on the other side of the room, dead too late at the edge of Takeshi's blade.)
Tsuna keeps his eyes locked on Hayato. Hayato, who lies limp and motionless, no matter how much sun flame Ryouhei pumps in to him.
It feels like a dream. It feels fake. He feels detached from it all, like he's watching the world from far above and emotions can only reach him after traveling through a mile of cotton.
"Move," he tells his sun, his dying will flaring in the midst of his strange numbness.
His sun yanks his hands back, as instantaneously as if he were following a reflex instead of words.
Tsuna surveys the scene for another second, still through that mile of cotton, and then decides, "No. No, I refuse."
And, after all, does he not have a right to? He, the holder of the Vongola Sky Ring, the Guard of the Vertical Axis, the Sky of Skies. Is it not his birthright to seize hold of, to command, the threads of time?
He reaches out, burning, and undoes it.
An orange glow erupts around the two of them - his Hayato, and the assassin.
And then there is the assassin, alive again, aiming at a spot Tsuna is no longer at.
And there is Hayato, alive again, throwing himself to protect where Tsuna once stood.
Tsuna already has an arm raised, and sends a blast of power at the assassin. The assassin crumples. And then Tsuna is turning around, spinning towards Hayato, and he feels, within him, a hot, violent rage swell up. How dare he. How dare he.
He stalks over to his Right Hand, hands shaking with anger, and he spits, "You."
His Right Hand looks at him, all wide-eyed and taken off guard. As if he's not a fucking thief.
Tsuna snarls up at him, right up in his space, "Sit."
His Right Hand's knees fold. He just barely manages to catch himself against the table directly behind him, and it's not so much sitting as propping himself up, but Tsuna doesn't fucking care.
Tsuna's fists clench, and he stares directly into those green, green eyes. "You," he seethes, "took an oath, Gokudera Hayato." He feels himself burning, dying will an inferno on his skin. "You swore yourself to me, yes? Your life is mine. You do not have the right to take it from me."
His Right Hand, his storm, his Hayato, says nothing, eyes wide and face pale and lips parted ever so slightly in shock.
Tsuna feels incandescent with rage. "You dare-"
And then he finds himself losing the words, swaying in place as exhaustion slams down across him.
The last thing he feels is Hayato's arms coming up around him, warm and alive and oh so gentle, and the last thing he hears is Takeshi, saying - absolutely delighted, Tsuna knows that tone - "Oh, he is going to be so embarrassed when he wakes up."
And then darkness.

Oh god
I’m imagining Dazai being reborn as Tsuna and-
Imagine
You spent your entire childhood in the mafia until the one person who truly showed you what living and life meant dies and you leave
You leave and join the side of good like he asked and learn that you like it, you like helping people, you like the people who love you, not as the demon prodigy but as Dazai Osamu
And you love your life and eventually die and your happy
Only to wake up again
Now your Sawada Tsunayoshi with two not so great parents but what’s new
You grow up again, poking at the feral bird who flitters around the town because why not and try to have a normal, happy life, because that’s what your friends (family) would want for you
And this tiny little thing shows up at your door claiming to be the worlds greatest hitman and tells you, you’re going to be a mafia don
(Reborn is very confused as to why his bew student immediately throws himself out a window the second he says mafia but he’s gonna figure it out)
This has to end up with Daz-suna deciding that if he can't get out of this he's going to make Reborn's life a living hell, eventually take over Vongola, and then immediately use it to recreate the ADA.
Every interaction between Daz-suna and Reborn ends up being a Troll Off because Reborn might be a funko pop from hell but Dazai was a Troll King.

I think Giotto wound up a very possessive person, something Tsuna will also inherit if he takes on the Vongola mantle because the same fear of loss that exacerbated Giotto’s possessive tendencies is also always going to be in the back of Decimo’s mind, a daily knowledge that the moment he’s sharing with someone could be the last
The reason I brought up Giotto here is because, well. imagine how many last moments he had with someone he cared about that were negative notes he never got to apologize or make up for, how many promises were left unfulfilled, how many marriages broken and children left behind and families bereft with loss
Giotto always took his failures very personally, even when there was nothing he could have possibly hoped to do to avert a tragedy or save a life, and imo? Tsuna takes after him in the worst of ways as much as he does the best.
It’s why Tsuna is doomed to follow him, one way or another
Either it will break you, or you will run
Giotto did both.
He’s sorry you got left with his mess

"A circus." He says, voice flat though there is still nothing relaxing about talking to the man. And it was true that he does trick sometimes, his skills with snakes were renounced for killing people after all. Especially his big snakes where nothing was left behind.
"I'm part of a circus troupe that travels Nihon. I deal with snakes of all kinds. Quiete familiar with them as well." two long white snakes showed , wrapped around his arms like some sort of whip on display.
"Hm." Byakuran studies the man carefully, almost like he's trying to read him and gain insight behind his words. Having the locals so suspicious of him from the get-go could prove to be a little annoying, but it seemed like Koga was more scared of him than anything. "If you say so~" he says, and lets the matter drop.
Tumblr media
He then shifts his gaze to Koga's body, noting the features that seemed to make him stand out. "Ah, they don't like the way you look?" Byakuran asks completely innocently, as if he'd literally only just noticed the other's towering stature and unnaturally long limbs.
"Well, it doesn't bother me much. You're the first person I've seen since arriving here, so I just assumed that's what everyone looks like. What do you do then, if you're not mingling with the masses?" In a way, this is way better than stumbling upon some random civilian who does nothing of note.

So I know you talked about Tsuna and his guardians in Soul Society, but what about the other way around? How would Ichigo interact with Vongola and who would his guardians be?
(I kind of like the idea of Dying Will Flames 'burning' reishi. Using it as a fuel source like wood in a fire. Which means Hollows don't often bother Flame Actives since they tend to register as nulls due to all their spiritual power being used up)
Hmmmmmm............This is fun thought. Honestly I feel like Ichigo would just SENSE a child in need of a big brother in Bullshit Shonen Protag Messes all on his own and somehow manifest from the shadows to take Tsuna under his wing tbh.
A baby Sky with wonky Flames due to a seal would just BLARE OUT into the universe and Ichigo would KNOW the second he got near Namimori. I do love the idea of DWF burning reishi. Also love Hollows avoiding it because the "null" feeling is also followed by rumors of them EATING hollows despite being human. (I imagine a null is a giant sign for hollows and others, because everyone should have SOME reishi but they just...appear to not. Now....Ichigo's Elements....Hm. Sky is of course, as we know, Ichigo. Storm: Grimmjow just feels right to me. Hes attached now. Sun: Nel my beloved. Lightning: Chad. He's such a protective little shit all around. Rain: Starrk I think. Mist: Kisuke. I feel it in my soul Cloud: Yoruichi. She didn't mean to okay.
Tsuna and his elements are about to get SO trained up. SOSO trained up. Ichigo isn't going to let him go in blind and weak. He recognizes a protector's soul in Tsuna and he knows exactly what will happen the moment Tsuna has to step up for his people.
He just...needs the right kind of handling.
Then he finds out about the seal and OH is he not pleased about THAT at all. Good thing he still has Kisuke's cane and can push a soul out of a body. Once the chains that are wrapped around his soul are visible its not HARD to get rid of them. Speeds some things up. Also actually kind of pisses Ichigo off very much, how Tsuna was handled and how the training was being handled. Yeah no. This is HIS kid now, fuck off.
Vongola isn't going to know what hit it at all

Hibari exhibits all the strength and ferocity of a real predator.
He knows only one truth: surrender. You’ve seen it countless times in different forms from his enemies: humiliated defeat; merciless death; bitter prostration. But never could you have imagined that his appetite for glory would extend to you.
Stinging air brushes the fine hairs on your nape when he swings at you—broad-knuckled hands weapon-free to align with the rules, but no less deadly. Forced to overcome your shock as he lunges, scent thick and roiling; you’ve caught whiffs during the run before your encounter, carried by the breeze. He’d caught you off guard—approaching fast during your leisurely stroll.
“Submit.”
Even the vibrations in his voice demand you forfeit. The rough baritone raising your hackles—instinct to fight overriding cordiality.
(In your mind, Hibari hadn’t even been in the realm of potential runners. But he’d come—arriving later than everyone else, standing far from the clumps of mingling alphas. And you briefly, only briefly, wondered if he planned to take it seriously.)
From the gleam in his eyes—the memory of his stare on your neck—you have no doubt he’d been aiming for this outcome all along. The bell has been ringing at steady intervals for the past ten minutes: formed pairs evacuating the designated area to leave the remaining participants in peace. It’s difficult to tell how many remain—where they might be wandering.
“Get real, Hibari.”
You expect him to snarl—your clash stoking the prideful venom that all alphas with a similar penchant for violence boast no shortage of. You expect anger: incredulity and the arrogance he carried with him into this mating run.
Instead, he smiles, and you realize with cold blood draining from your face that he doesn’t pursue surrender—but surrender comes to him.
No one else had looked in your direction for more than friendly acknowledgement. There’s a scrap of hopeful disbelief that he’s simply ignorant of the implications and has merely rushed in blind. That he chose to engage you for the familiarity of having fought side-by-side. After all, you could hardly fathom an alpha like him willingly pursuing a beta.
The problem with Hibari is he does not chase. He hunts.
And it is impulsive—recklessness that would put you towards an early grave had he been an enemy—to abandon all momentum and test your hand against the Vongola’s most bloodthirsty Guardian.
You’ve sparred against him countless times before. The results were always as expected.
It’s laughable, almost, how quickly you realize your strength is no match for him.
You go down. And Hibari—like any man thirsty for conquest—is all too eager to partake in the sweet reward of his victory. The heel of his palm pressing on your sternum, right beside the tight rabbiting of your heart. Fingers splaying—a touch too inappropriate in its placement for the mannerly guidelines of this tradition.
Thrashing is easy. Struggling is easy. But Hibari is an immovable force above you, subduing his prey with practiced hands, holding you down against the mossy earth. His head ducks, aiming for the crook of your throat—and you suck in a breath, the impulse to fight betraying you as you freeze beneath him.
But he doesn’t bite.
Nothing will take if he does; you’ve no scent glands, no area primed for a claiming mark to officially tie the two of you together. You don’t even know how he found you amidst the plethora of other candidates. The only realistic outcome is the thorough verbal scolding you’d get from Gokudera.
Hibari leans close, so close the heat of his face melts into your own. He takes a breath—smelling you, you realize with no small amount of mortification—and speaks.
“Submit,” he commands once more. You almost laugh.
“Do you even know the purpose of this run?” His hair tickles, that choppy dark fringe dipping against your skin.
“What a foolish question,” he muses. “A hunt is a hunt.”
You suppress a groan. “Right. Okay. Well, this probably seems like a—competition of sorts, but that’s not what this is,” you explain, pulse showing no signs of slowing. “This is a marriage run, not a hunt. There’s no way to—you know. Win.”
“A claim,” he says, silencing your next thought. “When a claim is made, there is a clear winner, isn’t there?”
You nearly stop breathing. Hibari withdraws to stare at you.
(Tsuna’s earlier apprehension makes perfect sense. It occurs to you, then, that you were the one that hadn’t been taking it seriously from the beginning.)
“A claim here,” he continues—pleased; you’ve known him long enough to hear the subtle tang in his voice—reaching up to brush over your neck, “usually denotes a victor.”
“I am not a prize.” Your limbs go tense, preparing to fight. Hibari catches your wrist easily, his palm calloused and hot.
“You misunderstand,” he says, “this is not a matter of prizes. It’s one of choosing.” His thumb presses lightly into your wrist, where a scent gland would lay. Your pulse is lively under his hands and fingers.
This time, you do laugh, disbelieving. “You would choose this?”
“There is no one else.”
You’re tempted to laugh again. But his face does not betray a hint of sarcasm.
“There will be others,” you insist. “If not by your choice, then the famiglia’s.” His eyes narrow.
“They are irrelevant.”
Your mouth opens to argue. Hibari closes the distance again; his breath hits the pulse point in your throat. He does it so confidently you think—with a squeezing pressure in your chest—that he’s going to bite you for real this time.
For an insane, thoughtless moment, you almost tilt your head to let him.
Your eyes flutter shut, imagining it—almost craving it—and then, when they open, your gazes lock, and—with the prickling rush of adrenaline—you realize there’s nowhere else you could’ve fallen but into his clutches all along.

Percy on TikTok gives the same vibes as Vongola in the background of the Italian Boyfriend Reborn videos
(Now I’m imagining Post Canon Percy meeting adult Vongola)
As he should because we hope he has a very different vibe it is just as chaotic and traumatizing to the people that are supposed to be keeping his particular Big Secret.
But also
The chaos of Percy meeting the Vongola in general is always hilarious but if they’re all adults? Even funnier. Like Percy and co going back to Italy (and eventually Greece) to see it for real this time without the dread of the end of the world hanging over their heads and running into the Vongola while hunting monsters. The absolute stare down between the two groups with both sides’ weapons drawn and the demigods just covered in gold dust before another monster comes in and they all jump into action is so fucking funny to me

Another one of the someone reincarnated as Skull au
Except it's not just one individual it's the whole Black Bulls squad (and maybe even extra people)
Just imagine the Comedy™ of the Arco being Across and then we pull into Skull's head and start listening to every member of the bulls saying something at the same time with no one fronting .
Because yes they change who is on front a lot . Even if Asta , Finral , Vanessa , Charmy and Nacht front the most , and Zora if he is feeling vindictive .
And I can just imagen that every Arco has their favorite person for fronting :
Luce - Vanessa and Asta
Reborn - doesn't sticky have a favorite but prefers Asta and Noelle the most because of how he can teze them
Fon - Met Nacht once(while the bulls were new to the whole one body thing) and decided this is gonna be his personality from now on while everyone else is depressing because there is another one now
Viper - despite being amused and even somewhat friendly to Zora , Vanessa and Nacht actually has Charmy as their favorite . They are also the only one who knows and suspected that the Arco's Cloud is actually multiple people in one body (is not sure if it was a mist thing gone wrong , born with multiple souls or if Skull has multiple personalities)
Lal - can't decide between Luck and Magna (If Mereoleona is not here that is)
Collonelo - the favorite is Luck
Verde - Would be Zora if it wasn't for the facts a) Zora is fully on having a prank war with him and b) Verde is so prideful that he won't recognize Zora as someone of his level
Neither the Arco nor the mafia knew that Skull was actually multiple people until one fateful dinner bal in the Vongola mansion when the topic of cloud's being able to clone themselves came up . And immediately Skull asks very enthusiastically how to do it and gets shown how to do it .
At which point the black bulls (more specifically Gauche as he has experience in how to make clones) make a clone for each person of them and that is when shit hit the fan .
Finral and Vanessa immediately started raiding the cellar for wine .
Nacht started to insult everyone other than the children (aka Tsuna , Enma , Lambo , Ippin and Futa) left , right , up and down . In the background Fon is on the verge of tears because he recognized this smile that is his idol . While everyone else is deeply terrified .
Charmy is starting a raid on the kitchen .
Asta and Collonelo are having a full on screaming match while fighting . Bonus points if Yuno , Libei and Lal are looking at them cheering on
Zora continues being a menace to Verde .
Noelle raiding the nearest armory so she can kill Reborn for what he has said for her family .
Luck and Magna fighting and drawing people in the fight . Gray is trying to stop them while Gauche is cheering them on .
Nero is looking at this and recording it for later .
Gordon and Henry are babysitting Tsuna and the rest of the kids .
And at some point Yami (with a cigarette in his mouth as always) punches the nearest wall while telling them to shut up and to stop destroying things , only for the wall he punched to crumble . Of course that causes the true shinanagans to start .
While the Black Bulls are having their normal (for them) life everyone else is losing their mind because the Arcobaleno Cloud Skull just cloned himself and now there are like a dozen clones of him and all with their own personality and different flame at that . Serious what the fuck?!?
While all of this is going on Viper is having a poker face of innocence while giggling on the inside .

Kill Them with Kindness
Summary: The most important skill Tsuna learned from Reborn did not come from any of the supplemental lessons Reborn had taught him but something he mimicked by observing his mentor. It was called malicious compliance.
Preview:
If Tsuna didn’t become Vongola Decimo, would anyone acknowledge Hayato’s genius? What would have happened to Lambo whose Family sent him on a suicide mission when he was just a toddler, simply because his body was sturdier than adults? He imagined Fuuta would still pledge his loyalty to Vongola in exchange for protection, but that protection would come with exploitation considering his ability. Lancia would never be able to prove his innocence and Mukuro… he would forever be trapped in Vindicare, while Chrome would never exist in the first place. There would be no justice for Cozart, as his friendship with Giotto would remain buried by Spade’s scheme. If he were to run away now, the people who would pay the price would not be just Tsuna.

Oniyanagi 1st Generation Bosses

OCtober Day 4: Under-appreciated OC
Sorry this took a while @social-muffin! Also thank you for your interest in Kana and Kurumi's great-great-great grannies hahaha The questions below are based from Muffin's KHR OC ask post over here 🥰✨
I thought answering the questions for this prompt would work as a way to talk about them, since I barely get to draw/talk abt them vs their 10th gen counterparts. But do not be fooled, they also live in my head rent-free. Whenever I remember them, I start screaming, crying and throwing up. Thank you KHR for having a 1st gen in ur story, its another excuse for us to make another set of twin OCs.
What's your OCs name, pronouns and gender?
(Left, Older Twin) Name: Rinko Ninomiya Pronouns: She/Her Gender/Sex: Female (Gigachad, Alpha Female)
(Right, Younger Twin) Name: Ryuuka Ninomiya Pronouns: Any (People mostly use She/Her due to their clothing) Gender/Sex: Male (Doesn't bother correcting people who see them as Female, like with Kana, I'll mostly use she/her for consistency)
What's their current age and what age do/did they get involved with the khr Canon?
I guess if we were to make a sidestory for them, we'd make the "current" timeline for the story when their age is around 23-24. But the first time they kind of got involved with KHR canon should be around mid-teens, when they met Asari! Then around age 19-20, Rinko should've met Giotto by then.
For comparison, the twins are more or less one year older than Giotto.
What do they look like? Height, weight, unique physical features? (Drawings, Picrews, descriptions, all are welcome! Except AI art lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From this post. Rinko's design here is kinda outdated since we changed her hairstyle to have a ponytail now hehe
Anyway, they both have the exact same height (168cm) and weight (49kg). For any unique physical features, I guess that would be for Ryuuka? She always tries to make it so that she's the same height/weight as her older twin. Even the choice of feminine clothing is because she wants to be perceived to have a feminine appearance like her.
What's your OCs relation to KHR? Are they someone's guardian, friend, subordinate, love interest? Or are they a family member of a canon character? If so, how are they related to that character?
They're both Giotto's close friends! This is the root of where the current Vongola and Oniyanagi's partnership agreement came from in the 10th Gen period. Rinko met Giotto first in a formal social gathering at Italy, through Asari. Rinko had a crush on Giotto at first sight, so naturally(to her), she immediately tried to befriend him like the gigachad that she is.
(fucksdjfhjsdf now I'm remembering that one tik/tok jojo sent me with the "itulak mo ako!"/"push me!", except it's Rinko and she asked Asari to push her to Giotto's direction => so Giotto can catch her lmao hahahaha)
Ryuuka wasn't there at that time since she was in Japan managing family affairs while Rinko was away, but she did eventually get to meet Giotto some time after that. Rinko looked very happy when she came home after all and told her all about the new friends/allies/business partners that she made while in Italy.
In the 1st Gen Vongola Guardians line-up, Ryuuka is also close friends with Asari. While they do spar together, since they're both experts with swords. More often, she also just goes to hang out and listen to him play the flute.
Rinko is also friends with Knuckle, the problem is that she's trying to get him to retire as priest and go back to boxing. So they can be gym junkies together 😭 (please imagine someone trying to convince their who swore off drinking to start drinking again)
What's your OCs flame/flames? If they have multiple, which flame is their strongest?
Both of them have Sky flames!
How does your OC use their flame? Strictly for combat, or more recreationally? Is flame use something instinctive to them, or do they have to direct their flame consciously?
From what me and Sou have right now, they currently just use it during combat. Though even then, they only use it when needed (usually it's not). The use of flames is also instinctive to them too.
Does your OC have a mafia family they are a part of? If so, what's their position in that Familia?
They're both the boss of the Oniyanagi yakuza family! Though the one seen more in public is Rinko, since she's the one mostly in the frontline of both battles and networking opportunities. On the other hand, Ryuuka is often locked up in her lab and handles various matters behind the scenes.
If your OC was a civillain what would their job be? Would they be happy with that job? Would they be good at it?
I'm thinking of modern times jobs right now so it's more fun hehe
Rinko would be a gym instructor that also runs a travel vlog channel! She love working out so much (it's insane) and has a wander lust as well. She'd be very good at both and would be very popular for it. She's also a great cook, the only catch is that she adds protein in almost all of her dishes.
Ryuuka is already a scientist herself. But she'd very much be a full time scientist as a civilian, particularly in the field of Biotechnology. She'd be a renowned expert in her industry, just don't let Umbre//lla Corp hire her (yes, this is a RE reference). She'd also be one of Geppetto Lorenzini's biggest fans in a gatekeeping type of way.
Do you have a voice actor picked out for your OC? If yes, why did you pick this voice actor? (If someone talked with your oc, what would they notice about their voice?)
Rinko's voice claim is Ami Koshimizu, while Ryuuka's voice claim is Kana Hanazawa!
Sou and I had twin OCs in Hai//kyuu before with these voice claims, so we just thought to reuse them. We listened to some of their roles and confirmed that these would still fit!
Last question! What's your OCs current fashion style? And what's their dream style? Are they close?
Rinko used to wear kimono or yukata, but ever since she started travelling to more western countries, she started to have a preference for western style clothing as well, so she wears suits and dresses in those styles.
Mostly when at work, Ryuuka just wears a white lab coat with a black turtleneck dress underneath. Though when just chilling at home or on rest days, she wears a black yukata and a white haori. She doesn't really have a dream style, since fashion isn't on her priority list.
That's all for now, hope you enjoyed reading about them! 🥰💖✨

Sorry y'all this one's gonna be a long one lol fun analysis/theorizing/headcanoning whatever the fuck this is under the cut :)
So, lately I've been really thinking about Lambo and Tsuna's relationship, Lambo's connection to Vongola, and Lambo's spot as the Lightning Guardian. I know as a fandom, we tend to disregard Lambo because he has like.. two fights in the whole series or wish that someone else was made the Lightning Guardian because that boy is Literally Five. And I won't act like it wouldn't have been cool to see another character as Lightning Guardian (My Haru Guardian fans rise up where are you) but I think what Amanos done here is really fun too from an analysis perspective.
To start with, Tsuna's family is not really a..traditional Mafia family or even a traditional Vongola family either. Let's look at this here, he's got his Two Best Friends(TM), his crush's big brother, the leader of the Disciplinary Committee at his school, a criminal, a half dead girl, and the aforementioned five year old as his guardians. This is FAR from what's likely expected out of the Vongola family, even when you date it back to Primo AT LEAST PRIMO HAD PRINCES, PRIESTS, SAMURAIS as his guardians. (Though he gets away with having One Best Friend (TM) as his guardian.) Yet somehow, their family makes it work!! They survive the Mafia world, multiple times throughout the series and when it's not working they get stronger as a unit and they fight for each other and make it out together. And I think that's the beauty of their specific family.
So then you have Lambo, who Tsuna would do anything for just to avoid Lambo having to experience a fraction of the shit they go through. And Tsuna actually SUCCEEDS at this, he doesn't normally succeed when it comes to being avoidant of Mafia stuff but this was something throughout the series that he was so genuinely adamant against. He only let Lambo fight when he truly had to and even then he very minimally let the Mafia world wrap its greedy paws around Lambo. Kokuyo arc, Tsuna didn't even sort of kind of a little bit consider taking Lambo with them (which would later help keep Kyoko and Haru safe), Varia arc, knowing that this would disqualify him, Tsuna decided he could not allow Lambo to keep fighting.
Tumblr media
Future Arc, Tsuna kept Lambo out of the fight as much as he could, allowing the non-fighters to take care of him and I-pin. Shimon Arc, Tsuna felt real regret at the prospect that he allowed Lambo to come.
Tumblr media
(And Arco arc where Lambo was hardly present at either, which I'd like to imagine that if Lambo was involved in Arco arc then Tsuna may have just absolutely fucking died)
Tsuna to Lambo is not his guardian (Frankly, he doesn't view any of his guardians as such, they are his friends, his pride, his comrades, and those he has traded blows with and knows they can be trusted.) Lambo to Tsuna is his little brother. This five year old was sent on an assassination attempt that was absolutely in no circumstance meant to actually succeed and the Bovinos know that. To send Lambo to assassinate the strongest hitman was a death mission. So, Tsuna took this child in (or rather this child stuck around bc his Mom makes banger meals) and immediately Tsuna assumes the role of his brother. Lambo and Tsuna are the closest out of all the kids. (Ofc Tsuna loves I-pin and fuuta too, but I think it's safe to say Lambo is his dumb little brother)
Tumblr media
Now, I don't think that Tsuna is ever going to see Lambo as anything but his little brother. I actually theorize that the way TYL Lambo is the way he is because Tsuna never really got out of the habit of babying him. He's calmed down since he was a kid and developed a more nonchalant personality with the occasional tantrum because you can't tell me Tsuna DOESNT STILL view TYL Lambo as a non-combatant. When Tsunas 15, he looks at 5 year old Lambo and goes no thanks that boy is never touching a weapon in his life. When Tsunas is 25, he sees 15 year Lambo and goes that is STILL a child he is never touching a weapon in his life. And yes he's completely unaware of the hypocrisy in my head.
Tumblr media
This is a spoiled little brother no one can tell me otherwise.
So we know Tsuna just sees him as his kid brother and not a real guardian. But then you have Lambo's feelings about the whole matter. We know that Lambo doesn't really consider Tsuna a boss but as his big brother, but I don't think that changes a lot for Lambo. While fighting is scary for Lambo, he still desires to follow alongside Tsuna and his friends. He doesn't want to be left behind and makes Tsuna promise him he'll take him wherever he goes. He sees Tsuna freaking out about him being a child in a battlefield and he goes, "No you don't understand, I want to be there."
Tumblr media
And that? That right there is what fucks me up after everything. Lambo as a concept for a Lightning Guardian feels really unique because of this. He's the youngest one. He's always going to chase after the others, trying to keep up with them, to walk alongside them. One day, he wants to catch up and be considered a rightful Guardian like the others. And that is so... Tsuna and him would be batting heads over this because I cannot see Tsuna relenting on Lambo staying out of the battle. I cannot see Tsuna ever feeling like Lambo's ready. Not because he thinks Lambo is weak, but because Lambo's his baby brother and Tsuna needs him more away from the battle or else he can't focus.
Tumblr media
While Tsuna doesn't react outwardly in this frame, I do think it's not a coincidence that he could focus on fighting the battle and not be "impatient" as Reborn put it, the moment he saw Gokudera and Hibari on the battlefield. He could focus easier knowing his friends were running around saving Lambo and co.
Okay, so you have the Big brother who wants to protect his little brother from seeing the same stuff he does, from fighting the same battles he does, and wants him to grow up as a regular kid (a right which he had been robbed off the moment a certain hitman showed up at his door). Then you have the little brother who wants wholeheartedly to be there, desires to catch up to his big brother and know the world that his big brother knows.
How does this difference in value get addressed? well it doesn't because Lambo is still 5 and Shounen jump are cowards for ending Amanos series when they did <3 B U T we have this.
Tumblr media
We all know this scene for when we rewatched Reborn for the first and went "..wait.." because that was some actually sweet foreshadowing from Amano. Okay, so. We have a Lambo who finally did it. Finally is someone worthy of being called the Vongola Lightning Guardian. And Tsuna and co are implied to have just been... Gone. All of Tsuna's efforts to raise this kid in a regular life are ripped away because something happens to HIM, not Lambo. And from Lambo's perspective, he's caught up finally but the person he was following isn't around anymore. He didn't think he'd see him again. I think it's safe to assume that this scene either implies that something happens to Tsuna in his 30s (since we know he wasn't actually dead TYL) OR 20yl Lambo is from a parallel world where Byakuran had actually won and actually took Tsunas life.
And I think that's some real meat to bite into for these characters. A little brother who will lose his big brother if he doesn't do something, get stronger in time. A big brother who won't let him join the battle because he's afraid of losing HIS little brother. A Vongola Lightning Guardian who wants to be a shield for his Boss, and a Boss won't let him be a shield.
And that? That's a good concept for a Vongola Lightning Guardian.
Thank you for reading this far if you did :] this is a bit of a ramble but I was thinking about it and I felt it nice to share. I hope maybe I shared some of my brain worms with you <3

What if Kawahira was a shinigami who stole weapons (i.e. the pacifiers) from the Soul King's Palace, lost control of them, and then implemented the Arcobaleno system to cover up his fuck-up.
What if, somehow, Yuzu got roped into flame-society shenanigans. As a sky, of course. (Look, she's a Kurosaki. She's Ichigo's little sister. Karin's twin! She's not going to be normal. She absolutely could end up running a magical crime-syndicate, commanding immense respect and adoration.)
Ichigo and the Urahara-shop gang are just on the sidelines, cheering Yuzu on.
The flame users who interact with the Urahara-shop gang don't really peg Urahara and Yoruichi as threats, because while Reborn and the Varia and such are good, they're not centuries-old onmitsukido good. Kisuke and Yoruichi know how to pretend to be harmless, and they find it really funny when people not in the know look down on them for being weak.
One day, Yuzu and the Urahara-shop gang are in a meeting with the Vongola and Arcobaleno. Kawahira drops in to be ominous and dispense a quest to Tsuna.
Kawahira takes one look at who's in the room, and tries to flee.
Kisuke is on him in a heart-beat, faster than any human in the room can track, pinning him to the floor with Benihime at his throat.
None of the flame-users know where tf the sword came from.
"Kawahira-kun!" Yoruichi exclaims, delighted. "What a surprise! We've been looking for you for so long."
A heartbeat. "Kisuke, darling," she says, and suddenly she seems very dangerous. "Take him to the maggot's nest, will you?"
Kisuke looks at her and grins.
And then Kisuke and Kawahira vanish, gone in shunpo far too fast for a non-shinigami to comprehend.
Can you imagine Reborn's reaction? The rest of the Arcobaleno? The Varia, who got a taste of Kisuke's bloodlust for like, half a second?
Man, I need this fic. Let me know when it manifests spontaneously. Surely a monkey on a typewriter will produce it soon.... aaaaannnny moment now...

I love Katekyo Hitman Reborn because every character is infinitely lame on screen yet they are amazing when it matter the most.
EVERYONE is a loser in here, even the ones that are supposed to be cool, like Yamamoto and Reborn. They're pathetic and it's funny to watch but yet??? When their family needs them, it's gonna catch you off guard. It gets you invested without even noticing.
I think the Battle for the Vongola Rings is the perfect example. Entire teams of extravagant characters being ridiculous turn into shonen heroes and villains in one single panel or one dialogue: Yamamoto stubbornness revealing his heritage, Gokudera "obsession" showing his unbreakable loyalty and determination, Lambo fighting for his place in the family as Tsuna fights for them, because for him it is never about power but about the people he loves and their right to live happy lives.
Characters so silly they feel real, resolutions that are not about big battles but decisions about how you want to live and how do you want to be perceived by others. This is not a fighting shonnen, even when there are many fights. It doesn't have heavy social criticism or goes all philosophical. It's a juvenile story about teens facing adulthood while the main character fights for their right to be teens for as much as they can.
Imagine a world where Naruto fights for the right to have genin missions even if everyone tells him that as the jinchuriki he must go on S-class missions. Or one where Deku wants his class to just enjoy the UA years as teens because they are teens even when he has to act on his One for All power to defend such normal lives.
Local hero doesn't want to be the heir of the strongest mafia family, he wants to hang out with his friends after school.
I'll love KHR for being like that.
