Rhaenys and Corlys anon back because I did not expected for my take to be so openly accepted. Thank you all for that!
I am going to say something that I think the majority of this fandom is afraid to voice out. I would honestly have made my very own post, but I am afraid of being attacked, so I decided on this ask instead.
A very big part — if not the basis — of the strange insistence that Daemon did not loved Rhaenyra but must have loved Laena is rooted in body shaming. Since Laena is described as slender, and Rhaenyra recorded as gaining weight after her pregnancies, people are not only unable to imagine a man genuinely loving a woman that does not fit their ideal standard of skinny, but they also see that rumoured change of her appearance as a reflection of her morals, even as a punishment.
(I say 'rumoured', because look at the official art or at the animated version of the Dance — Rhaenyra's waist is not slender, and while obviously voluptuous, she is not fat and she still looks absolutely gorgeous even after her pregnancies. So it was obviously an exaggeration by the maesters.)
Again I make a parallel with history — we are talking about an age where beauty of person equated beauty of character, and any slight deffect signified sin/unworthiness/bad morals. An age where, for example, blonde hair in a queen was ideal because it signified virginity, purity and it was associated with Virgin Mary. Rhaenyra's appearance being attacked is nothing else but mysoginistic propaganda.
(See how it is implied that men would not fight for her because her body changed after six pregnancies. Obviously that is a lie, since we know how many men raised at arms and supported her, and not even one of them made any remarks regarding her appearance.)
I have read a fanfiction centered on Laena and Daemon in which the very first remark made about Rhaenyra when she first appears is how she gained weight and therefore Daemon does not find her attractive at all. It's disgusting, demeaning, and screams internalized mysoginy. But women of this fandom are not ready for this conversation because they are far too busy self-inserting in their Laena and Nettles fantasies. That is why in these type of fics Rhaenyra is made to compare herself with them, to make her seem unworthy and undervalued, when that was never the case at all.
And not only that, but with Laena he is marrying a maiden, whereas with Rhaenyra he is marrying a mother of three. So if for some people that represents a turn-off, something that makes her less desirable, then they go and project their own distaste unto Daemon, claiming that he must have found her (and by extension her children) a burden as well. Even though the text gives us no proof about this, but every proof to the contrary.
It's a sensitive topic I would like to expand further because the way Rhaenyra's appearance is approached and discussed in this fandom is very sad, without any critical analysis or consideration. Basically, this is just to point out some things in the way I see them.
Hi there Queen (and sorry for this huge delay) ❤️
I have almost nothing else to add except a small observation on this "but with Laena he is marrying a maiden" -> I think this is something that they conclude because of everything you have said before. Because it goes with their idealised version of the "skinny, love worthy woman" and purity is another trait they had.
Laena was almost 23 at the time she married Daemon, and had been betrothed to another man for 10 years. A decade. She is also described as "bold" and someone who liked adventure.
The same fanfictions I have seen portraying Laena as completely innocent at 22 almost 23 - let's go back to the main asoiaf books and think back to how "innocent" women at this age were even if unmarried - will be portraying 14 year old Rhaenyra as completely loose, a deranged Lolita of sorts (who curiously turns chaste and boring the moment she married Daemon, at only 23, but details because while love changes a person Rhaenyra and Daemon DID NOT LOVE EACH OTHER OK?! 😡) using and abusing Poor Criston - who Alicent called out btw for being a creep - because let's look at it from his perspective :( (will no one think of the 30 something male?!) and being as wicked as Daemon if not more. Someone making Daemon darker and more deranged too, nothing like pure Laena and Nettles who brought out the best in him and saved him <3
I completely agree with you about Rhaenyra's appearance and I think it's especially sad when you see people, especially women, making Aegon II look like he hits the gym every day - let's look at official art of him for a sec - and Rhaenyra like she is Jabba the Hut.
PS: All of this is only about the asoiaf characters and books so kindly leave the lizard redacted show out of it.

Wearing casual clothes without her pale makeup, wig or contacts certainly has some advantages for Celes such as when Makoto accidentally walked in on her as she vibing herself to a raunchy vampire movie.
Luckily for her he didn’t recognize her without her usual getup
Disclaimer: R18 material! If not to your liking then please do not view!
Hey, sometimes even Celeste needed a break from Celeste. Hence why she was taking a 'day off' from herself. No poofy gothic lolita dress. No drill extensions. No fancy make-up.
She was not Celestia Ludenberg today, she was Taeko Yasuhiro. She was wearing a black tracksuit jacket that clung to her body tightly, and underneath a plain white t-shirt that showed off a good deal of her slightly chubby belly. A pair of baggy black pants was her choice of bottoms, though a part of her wonders if she should have opted for a better fit as they sometimes drooped a bit too low (giving the world a peak at her black thong underneath). Lastly, her feet replaced heels with a pair of sandals, and on her head was a pair of shades. Just a regular girl day: a Taeko day.
Though, whether Taeko or Celeste, her interests in creatures of the night, doesn't ever really disappear. She loved vampires and loved movies about them dominating mere mortals and their extravagant wealth, so she had a field day not only finding the theatre nearly empty, but a film that catered to her interests that day. Kicking up her legs in the middle of the rows, Taeko got comfy as it started. Truly the world was rewarding her on her 'Selfcation Day'. What could throw a wrench in this plan?~
"Hi, is this seat taken?" God fucking damn it. Of all people, it was MAKOTO who ended up running into her. Seriously?! Apparently, he wanted to see the movie to recommend to his 'good friend Celeste'. On one hand, Taeko was touched by his kindness...
On the other hand, why the Hell did he choose to sit right next to her. Of all these empty seats?!!! Of fucking course, this guy was too dense to get her hints that he should maaaaaybe/definitely look about for one of the open spaces of the theatre instead of being so close...oh well. At least that denseness also means he didn't recognize her.
Maybe...this won't be so bad? As the movie went underway, with the vampire queen awakening and amassing an army of followers by luring them in with her voluptuously sexy body (and inevitably fucking all of them~), both Taeko and Makoto got into the movie's more...raunchier undertones. Taeko, imagining herself as that domineering queen, loved witnessing each servant falling in line thanks to the queen's charisma. Makoto, who saw himself in the poor citizens like the college student or office worker, couldn't help but be flustered when he saw each guy being so easily pinned down, fucked and turned helplessly.
Needless to say, both was turned on~ As the movie continued on, an aroused Taeko would glance at Makoto, or really his crotch, and upon seeing even in the darkness, that Makoto had quite the hard-on, well, a thought came to Taeko.
This was her day - why not enjoy it with a little treat? Slowly, Taeko got down on the ground and moved in-between Makoto's legs. Shushing the luckster before he could alert anyone outside the threatre room, she unzipped his zipper and pulled out his cock. Damn~ Makoto was really packing something down there, huh? Slowly, sensually, sadistically, Taeko began to stroke his cock - watching with satisfaction as he moaned softly and was taken aback by such treatment.
Well. Soft moans were only for a few moments. Because he began to really moan and breathe harder when she began to lick at his dick furiously. Her tongue teasing his twitchy mushroom, suckling on his shaft, even giving some attention to his balls - God, this was amazing. As this was happening, Taeko was massaging her pussy, getting very wet from being so brazen - so naughty!!!
But she needed to take this even further. Taking down her pants and thong, Taeko spread her cheeks and plopped down right on Makoto's dick. Bounce, bounce, bounce! Both luckster and gambler were in an unspoked battle now - a bet! Would Taeko cum first from getting her ass fucked by out in secret like this in public or would a very stimulated Makoto give in first, worn down from both a hand and blowjob?
Ultimately, the bet was rigged from the start~ With a long agonizing moan, Makoto shot spunk after spunk into Taeko's ass, and drenching their seat and his lap in it. Though, even then it was quite close as Taeko squirted near after her victory, ruining their spot more.
God!!!! What a rush~ So this was what fate has decreed Taeko gets on her day off? Hehehehehe...then she needs to take more vacations often. Getting up from her seat, Taeko planted a wet kiss onto Makoto's lips and gestured for him to clean up and follow her. The afternoon was still young, and Taeko certainly wanted to continue this engagement somewhere else. Somewhere more...private, at least~ Like a love hotel, perhaps? Getting the picture, Makoto quickly followed after her, both leaving via the exit doors and out towards a more 'cozy' destination....
(Considering the mess left behind on their seating, they made a very good decision to leave while the movie was still on-going and before anyone else could see their messy climax~)

Thanks for the respond. I have a hard time articulating myself but what I meant by Amma being I guess more sexualized, I meant under Camille’s narration, with the way her developed body is constantly refer to in most of her interactions with Camille within the book. Like the part, in the end with the bath scene where Camille calls her voluptuous and said she looking stunning naked? I do admit I am probably wrong within this statement but i agree unlike Dolores, Amma actually does fits more what people think is a dangerous Lolita type.
I see what you mean now! I don't agree that she is more sexualized, just in a different way. But you're right that Camille sexualizes her and this is all tied up with her own experiences when she was thirteen. It's very interesting and uncomfortable and I think a lot of people don't want to talk about it.
Also, I think Amma plays that role of fille fatale as much as she plays the role of Adora's doll. She plays at being a seductress and wants to find some sort of control in that, even though that's not really what happens.

Lolitaland- Lolita Lempicka Review
For my first ever fragrance review, I've decided to start with the one I'm wearing right now. I've always loved the idea of having a "signature scent", the smell people automatically associate with you. Besides the obvious pro of gaining the ability to haunt loved ones with your absence, this concept has always been appealing for a similar reason the TikTok aesthetic of the week is-- that being, it grants a sense of belonging and identity for those of us too indecisive or lazy to imagine our own. I bring the concept up because I would consider Lolitaland to be my signature scent. This dream of peaches and boozy undertones is what the idealized version of myself wears daily (in between pilates classes and coffee with her many affluent friends). She's youthful, but never childish. She's luxurious, but always humble. She's everything I want to be, and this fragrance brings me closer to that image than any other. Where every other fragrance feels like a costume, Lolitaland enhances my natural essence in a way other perfumes have only dreamed of.
Without further ado, the bottle:
Tumblr media
Undeniably the most gorgeous, kitschy, feminine bottle on my shelf. The apple shape, the peach bellini color, the simple, voluptuous design. And the cap. Dear (deer?) God, the cap. The winged fawn rests on top of the bottle, imploring you to come closer. The bottle is unapologetically soft, thus being perfect in representing the girlishness of the scent. She tempts you in the flirty, coquette manner, batting her eyelashes and promising you exactly what you'll get. Lolita Lempicka has some of the most beautiful bottles in the world of perfumery, and Lolitaland is the peak of the summit.
And now, the scent:
The website describes her as "a bold and bewitching fragrance", citing notes of mandarin, white peach, Madagascar vanilla, and jasmine.
Lolitaland is a bewitching fragrance for sure. While many perfumes who boast "complexity" assume they must lean toward heavier, darker (and muskier) scents, she takes the opposite (and in my opinion, more impressive) approach. Bold, she is not. She is subtle, complex, light, and above all, easy to wear. If I were to rank my collection based on agreeability, she will sit with Ariana Grande's Cloud at the safe-to-wear end. She morphs constantly, holding true to her syrupy sweet roots. Every sniff is a new takeaway; she is bewitching in that her presence begs to be studied, and hopefully understood.
Upon first spray, I was greeted by plunging into an unguarded vat of orange syrup. Just falling short of medicinal, the first couple seconds of synthetic plastic give way to a warm, citrussy embrace.
Once it's settled, the cocktail inspiration comes through. Hints of musk and white florals (luckily not overpowering) appear, remaining grounded on a plush bed of vanilla. Perfumes don't last well on me (or I go noseblind quickly), but Lolitaland can easily grant 5 hours of mandarin goodness. This dry-down of boozy musk and jasmine separate her from the other citrus fragrances. She's the same girl who loved orange creamsicles by the boardwalk, but she's a grown woman now, who drinks peach bellinis at an outdoor garden party.
Lolitaland is a woman who embraces her inner adolescent. Instead of masking her nature with patchouli and leather, she enhances her loving, flirty personality. This evolution into adulthood, combined with the preservation of youth, combine to make a truly delectable, fun, and sensual fragrance.
Hope you all enjoyed my first post, and I hope to make many more!

A normal man given a group photograph of school girls or Girl Scouts and asked to point out the comeliest one will not necessarily choose the nymphet among them. You have to be an artist and a madman, a creature of infinite melancholy, with a bubble of hot poison in your loins and a super-voluptuous flame permanently aglow in your subtle spine (oh, how you have to cringe and hide!), in order to discern at once, by ineffable signs—the slightly feline outline of a cheekbone, the slenderness of a downy limb, and other indices which despair and shame and tears of tenderness forbid me to tabulate—the little deadly demon among the wholesome children; she stands unrecognized by them and unconscious herself of her fantastic power.
-Lolita

Cosette Week - Day 2 Garden:
It was the continuation of solitude with the beginning of liberty; a garden that was closed, but a nature that was acrid, rich, voluptuous, and fragrant; the same dreams as in the convent, but with glimpses of young men; a grating, but one that opened on the street. Still, when she arrived there... Jean Valjean gave this neglected garden over to her. “Do what you like with it,” he said to her.
Me: What about a Modern AU! Cosette that dresses in Gothic Lolita style and learns how to garden from her Papa and becomes a Goth Florist
My Brain: Yes, that’s sufficient. Have some serotonin

Shopping on AliExpress- A Guide (August 2019)
I’ve been shopping on AliExpress since 2014, and have ordered around 250 items from many different shops over that period of time. These are some tips I’ve learned from experience!
-China currently gets subsidized shipping, but that might change in the future. beware of high shipping costs- it’s often a way for sellers to get extra profit and it feels scummy, so the store may not be trustworthy if they do this.
-Keep an eye on store and seller ratings. Avoid stores below 85-87% ratings for the most part. The ratings are broken down by accuracy of item, shipping speed and seller communication. If the last two don’t bother you (I don’t mind too much) then as long as the accuracy score is good, you’re probably ok.
-The average shipping time for stuff is about a month. It can sometimes be 2 months. Don’t freak out, and plan ahead!
-However, if you look at the tracking info and it’s still “in customs,” it’s possible it was confiscated by customs. If this happens, you can usually talk to the seller and get your money back. It’s only happened to me about 2-3 times in the 5 years I’ve been shopping there (and the ~250 items I’ve purchased there) and I’ve gotten my money back each time.
-Read reviews; often, multiple sellers will be selling the same items, so if there’s no reviews on the item you’re looking at, look for the same photos on different stores and read those reviews, and consider buying the one with reviews.
-Chinese sizes run SMALL. Always read the size chart and know your measurements accurately. If the item doesn’t have a size chart, message the seller or buy from a different listing. Always lean toward the larger option if you’re between sizes, it’s possible that the item is actually a little smaller than the size chart. read reviews regarding size. You can usually message the seller for advice on size if you’re confused.
-On that note, “one size” items are usually equivalent to a Chinese medium, often leaning a little smaller. A Chinese medium is roughly equivalent to an American extra small.
-Use centimeters and kilograms for measurements and weight. I recommend buying a tape measure with centimeters on it for quickly measuring yourself or spaces in your home. You can also use Google to translate inches into centimeters, as well as pounds into kilograms.
-Items that have a more Western look or style/featuring Western or voluptuous models are often sized in a more western way, for some reason. They also fall prey to lower quality and less accurate photos than Asian style clothing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Be more vigilant if you’re buying a Western style item.
-Quite a few models are photoshopped to ridiculous lengths. be critical of all photos.
-Always leave detailed reviews of the items you get; it helps people out a lot. Try to use plain language and correct grammar/spelling, as the automatic translator isn’t perfect, and the more correct and simple phrasing you use, the more useful it will be to customers who don’t know your native language and depend on the translator. Try not to use slang.
-Avoid fancy or expensive items ($100+) unless the reviews are excellent. Often, these items are produced as cheaply as possible and you might be very disappointed.
-There is a freebies button on the homepage of the mobile app. Browse that daily. You get two chances to apply for something every day. I discovered this a few weeks ago and I already won a tee!
-Also on the mobile app, there is a button that allows you to search a photo. This is helpful for finding the same item if you need to read reviews, or find it at a lower price. It also brings up similar items which is nice. Sometimes, it’s really off though...you can find the button if you click on an item’s photo. The camera shaped button in the upper right corner will search for you.
-Use the site feedback feature often. They’re actually pretty receptive to feedback. I’ve noticed a couple of my suggestions implemented or bugs fixed after I told them about them.
-Never confirm receiving the item until you’ve inspected it- check that they sent the right size and color, check for damage like stains, holes, marks, poor stitching. If there is an issue, you can’t dispute and get your money back if you’ve already confirmed that you got the item.
-Personally, I avoid all makeup/skincare and food items on AliExpress, but I’m willing to bet that there are trustworthy stores out there that sell good quality skin stuff and food stuff. If you find them, message me with the store names!
-AliExpress is a fun place for crafters. It’s easy to find bulk listings of very cute items, at affordable prices. If you’re interested in starting a new type of craft, it’s a great place to get inexpensive starter supplies too.
-There are legitimate Taobao resellers on AliExpress, mostly of Lolita and Mori Girl fashions.
-Keep your expectations realistic. If a stiletto shoe is 15 dollars, it’s not going to be as well made as one that costs 50 dollars.
-Searching can often be frustrating, as Chinese sellers use different words for things than Westerners/English speakers do. I’ve found a few consistent ones:
Perspective=Transparent or see through
Hollow Out=Lace, often eyelet specifically
Shrimp Pink= Often a peach color or dusty pink color
Taro color=Often lavender, or dusty lavender
-If you’re having trouble finding something, look at wording that’s being used in similar items and search those terms. Adding stuff to your wishlist (even if it’s not exactly what you want) often helps the search algorithm suggest more accurate items.
-There are a lot of adult items available and currently no way to opt out of seeing them. If you think this will bother you, tread carefully. You’ve been warned!
That’s about all I have for now! Feel free to message me with questions and I’ll try to answer to the best of my ability. Hope this helps some of you out there!

2017 Reading Round-Up: Top 5
Tumblr media
1. Things I Don’t Want to Know by Deborah Levy (Notting Hill Books, 2013)
I don’t know why more people haven’t read this book. It’s the kind of book avid lady readers should be raving about to each other and reading reviews of in Electric Lit and the New Yorker to see what other smart women think of it. But no, it’s actually even hard to find in the U.S., and I haven’t talked to anyone who’s read it. (She’s much better known in the UK/EU. I picked up it up in a fantastic bookstore in Galway.) I read this slim book in one afternoon - it’s a long essay commissioned in response to Orwell’s own short essay, “Why I Write.” Levy’s work touches on the first taste and shock of injustice experienced in childhood (in apartheid South Africa, masterfully from a child’s point of view in all its complexity), the experience of motherhood post 1970s feminism, travel and becoming someone else while “away”, risk-taking, the desire to write, figuring out how to write as a woman. It made me cry in a deep and satisfying way (on a bus to Dublin, no less!) that was a relief.
Tumblr media
2. Frantumaglia: A Writer’s Journey by Elena Ferrante, trans. Ann Goldstein (Europa Editions, 2016)
These interviews and essays gave me that Emily Dickinson physical feeling of having the top of my head taken off, in particular the one that gives the collection its title. (“Frantumaglia” is Ferrante’s mother’s Neapolitan word for the mass of experiences and feelings that overwhelms and fogs the mind at times, the raw, wet stuff that writing is shaped from… I think). Particularly striking: her thoughts on the Dido myth and its relationship to women’s writing (Carthage originally intended as a city built on love); her mother’s work as a seamstress, how the dresses she made were and were not her; her exploration of her childhood violent wishes and feelings; the shifts in her motivations for remaining anonymous over time; thoughts on writing itself, what it means to be truthful when writing fiction.
Tumblr media
3. Slow Days, Fast Company: The World, the Flesh and L.A. by Eve Babitz (NYRB Classics, 2016 (reissue), originally published 1977)
Essays on 1970s L.A. by the anti-Joan Didion, voluptuous and exuberant Eve Babitz, born a Hollywood insider. She is also witty, erudite and snobbish in her own way, as she gives accounts of quaalude-fueled threesomes, and ending up in the most unexpected places, like a baseball game or San Bernardino, via her lovers. There are also her odes to other women, their talent and style, and her thoughtful takes on fame, addiction, and public image. Thank Goddess that NYRB brought her work back into print.
Tumblr media
4. Memoirs of Montparnasse by John Glassco (NYRB Classics, 2007, originally published 1973) - John Glassco
Nineteen-year-old Canadian bisexual Glassco sets off for Paris in 1927 with his school pal, to become a poet and burn through his father’s money. Publisher and writer Robert McAlmon takes them under his sordid wing for a long bender in Luxembourg and the French Riviera. Glassco chats with Robert Desnos, sasses Gertrude Stein, judges beefy Hemingway, and writes a little bad Surrealist poetry along the way. There’s probably a lot of bending of fact, as this was written decades later, but it’s entertaining and wonderfully written.  A fun, queer counterpoint to the hacky “Moonlight In Paris” view of Montparnasse in its golden age - the drag queen bars and lesbian literary circles, the roustabouts and pornographers, the would-be artists and dilettantes, who were also hanging around the cafes, never quite finding the time to work on their masterpieces…
Tumblr media
5. Contempt by Alberto Moravia, trans. Angus Davidson (NYRB Classics, 2004, original 1954)
I felt so anxious reading this, it was a relief when it was over. The narrator just keeps fucking things up - it’s unbearable! Really masterful portrayal of an unreliable narrator. It reminded me of Lolita, a bit, in the way that the narrator is trying to elicit sympathy in his account, while unwittingly showing the ways in which he’s monstrous. There is also beautiful vivid imagery of the Italian coastline and Capri. I enjoyed the various characters’ ruminating on possible interpretations of The Odyssey, and how they informed the narrative.
