Congratulations! You made it through April!
Today's Date is May 1st, 2024 and today's card is Ghostly Prison [Special Guests].
[ID This card depicts a terrified, screaming nobleman clutching his medium-length brown hair in terror. He's wearing expensive looking clothes dyed cool colors such as teal and purple with white sleeves and lots of gold accents. On his hip he carries a leather belt with some (also leather) pouches. He is surrounded on all sides by many, many angry cream-ish white ghosts. They come from different backgrounds but are all screaming at the nobleman, some raising arms in anger.
It's an Enchantment that costs 2 Uncolored mana and 1 White mana. Its rarity is mythic rare.
The rules text reads "Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays 2 Uncolored mana for each creature they control that's attacking you."
Its artist is Volkan Baga and its print year is 2024. It's from Murders at Karlov Manor Special Guests. End ID.]

Mox Opal
Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)
While this opal is on your person, you can use an action to magically regain one expended spell slot. If the expended slot was of 6th level or higher, the new slot is 5th level. You can use the opal this way a number of times equal to the number of magic items you are currently attuned to, and it regains all expended uses daily at dawn.

(This magic item is part of my in-progress supplement, Plane Shift: New Phyrexia)

🖤™👁
"‘Stand, Men of the West! Stand and wait! This is the hour of doom.’
And even as he spoke the earth rocked beneath their feet. Then rising swiftly up, far above the Towers of the Black Gate, high above the mountains, a vast soaring darkness sprang into the sky, flickering with fire. The earth groaned and quaked. The Towers of the Teeth swayed, tottered, and fell down; the mighty rampart crumbled; the Black Gate was hurled in ruin; and from far away, now dim, now growing, now mounting to the clouds, there came a drumming rumble, a roar, a long echoing roll of ruinous noise.
‘The realm of Sauron is ended!’ said Gandalf. ‘The Ring-bearer has fulfilled his Quest.’
[...]
But the Men of Rhûn and of Harad, Easterling and Southron, saw the ruin of their war and the great majesty and glory of the Captains of the West. And those that were deepest and longest in evil servitude, hating the West, and yet were men proud and bold, in their turn now gathered themselves for a last stand of desperate battle. But the most part fled eastward as they could; and some cast their weapons down and sued for mercy."

Volkan Baga and Steve Argyle
Magic the Gathering has so much good art, I want to know who your favorite artist is. Whether you actively collect them, seek out their versions of cards with lots of variants, or are on the top of your list to sign your cards.
There’s a lot of artists I couldn’t put in a poll, but I tried to have a mix of older and newer artists. Reblog with your faves!

Dauntless Escort
Elspeth's squires do not seek advancement. For them, no knightly glory could surpass the glory of serving their champion.
