That's it. Disventure Camp All Stars is doomed! There's nothing that could save this season. Connor is out, and Riya is in the finale again, the worst final 3 overall.

Trevek's kiss was the only good thing in this episode. However, I am not really Into them being together anymore because they didn't have a buildup outside of Trevor's feelings and I genuinely dislike Derek. I wish we could spend more time with them in season 1 like we did with Kristal in season 2 because I don't believe in their friendship. I wanna know how or why they decided to be the hosts and why Derek was so desperate to let Jensen do the dirty work so they could run the show. Hell, I just wanna know who they are and how they met! Speaking of Jensen where's he?! I thought he would be the final boss or something like in season one.

I am not excited for the finale and ether for season 4. I guess I might do a post where I discuss all the flaws of all stars after the finale, but honestly? I have no motivation. Because this show doesn't give me the same emotions it used to.

Hello again! (Warning, long rant again)

I'm basically making my own dc au for fun (I have too many writing projects to make another rn)

Adding onto what I created on Tom and Jensen, I wanna switch some of the characters with different ones for All Stars. This is now my au of an okay show plot

I wanna add only two characters, Drew (cause I love him and more details later), and Rosa (also explained later) and remove Miriam and Lake (I'm sorry but it's for reason and I wanna give other characters a chance to win)

The reason why I chose Drew and Rosa for All Stars is for two reasons, Fiore and common sense. For Drew, he's an underused contestant that's gone too early (honestly, glad he wasn't picked for all stars cause it kinda flopped after episode 5) but one thing that stands out about him that not a lot of the fandom bothered to notice is that Drew is a constant supporter of Fiore.

One: He probably voted for someone else (like maybe Miriam or Tom) in episode 1, and he was shocked that Fiore was voted out. Also, at the finale where Fiore was already exposed at a villain, Drew was seen at Fiore's stand despite everything, so a Drew and Fiore dynamic would be perfect because Fiore gets bullied way too much by both her teammates and the writing.

And while she does deserve some of the anger they feel towards her, you have to remember that she's just a 6-8 year old (No, I'm not excusing her actions they were bad, but there's a reason why she's this way. Monsters aren't born, they're made), so having someone who seen her at her worst and yet still cares about her would probably make Fiore realize that she's not a heartless monster like what her mom said, she's capable of love like everyone else.

Rosa is also picked for a similar reason, like Drew, while Rosa did watch DC season 1 and saw how Fiore was acting like a jerk she never really liked her first but later into watching the other half of the season she saw a bit of her daughter in Fiore if certain things happened. So when she joined All Stars, she saw the chance to help the self-proclaimed 'monster' of the Disventure Camp.

Let me tell you, if someone has been told by a bunch that they're the worst and many hateful words at a young age, gains a support system and teaches them how to truly love with time it would do wonders.

(Also, I want Rosa to adopt Fiore after the show is over. (Dis)respectfully, I don't trust Alec around kids based on the few mentions about his treatment towards his own kid)

Now, for Tom, his spy background is what made me like him back in the first season 'cuase I'm a sucker for anything spy-related. But like with any cool plotline, ONC fumbled his background just for what? Petty drama and a relationship that probably wouldn't be the best in reality.

Maybe he gets trauma from getting tortured by the enemy after being left behind on a dangerous mission by his teammates and friends he trusted (make Tom fucked up looking like the Creature from Frankenstein) and scars similar to the Phantom's eye scar and have half of his mouth exposed (just have the right side be messed up 👍🏽) Make him a recluse that learns to accept help from others along with trauma bonding with Jake (trust issues gang fr)

For the last part, Jensen. The mystery man himself: Why is he working on a reality TV show where his face could be revealed with the FBI? What did he do for the police and FBI hunting him down, and what does he gain during his stay at Disventure Camp?

Now, let's imagine this: Jensen used to be a part of this huge crime ring that he, originally named Vladimir, ruled with an iron fist. But someone snitched on the gang, and the police took down most of the gang members except Vladimir. Now, with nothing but posters asking people to look out for him, Vladimir needed to get back on top, so when he saw a sheet asking for help on a new reality show out in the middle of no where Vladimir took the job.

He changed his looks (his hair was black, but he dyed it gray to look older, covered the tattoo on his neck and blinded his left eye), and gained a new (fake) ID and changed his name to Jensen. After being hired by Derek and Trevor, he started his plan to restart his empire by selling the animal corpses he kills by the order of Derek and Trevor (He may have killed some interns and framed it as bear attacks)

When season 1 started and Tom joined (He was forced to take the job after the trouble with his teammates betraying him and his boss on their last straw at Tom), Jensen sensed something odd about him. Sneaking a peek at his bags while the players are at the challenge, Jensen finds out that Tom's a spy looking for him, so he creates a plan to make sure Tom will never catch him.

Selected Poems of Gabriela Mistral, translated by Ursula K. Le Guin

Winning the Nobel Prize in Literature is generally regarded as a great honour. But the prize was never awarded to authors such as Leo Tolstoy, Henry James, Anton Chekhov, Mark Twain, Henrik Ibsen, Marcel Proust, James Joyce, Jorge Luis Borges and Vladimir Nabokov. On the other hand, how many people still read the works of Sully Prudhomme (first Nobel Prize for Literature in 1901), Giosuè Carducci (1906), Verner von Heidenstam (1916), Frans Eemil Sillanpää (1939) or Johannes Vilhelm Jensen (1944)?

Gabriela Mistral was the first Latin American author to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, but when Literature Stack Exchange suggested a Gabriela Mistral reading challenge, I had to overcome my prejudice against what seemed one of those long forgotten Nobel laureates. It helped that Ursula K. Le Guin had published a large selection of Mistral’s poems with her own English translations in 2003. Even though Le Guin is best known for her science fiction and fantasy novels, she was also a poet. This volume, published by the University of New Mexico Press, is the largest selection of Mistral’s poems ever published in English and fills the gap left by earlier translations, by Langston Hughes (1957) and Doris Dana (1971), which have gone out of print.

Le Guin selected poems from five of Mistral’s published volumes: Desolación (1922), Ternura: canciones de niños (1924), Tala (1938), Lagar (1954) and the posthumously published Poema de Chile (1967). She also included four unpublished poems. The Spanish text and Le Guin’s translation are usually printed on facing pages, except when the lines are short enough to print both text side by side on the same page. Le Guin did not attempt to reproduce the metre and only reproduced the rhyme if it came without forcing. She also included some of the dark, difficult poems from Mistral’s last two books, but the admits that the choice was otherwise subjective.

Le Guin’s translations capture the spirit of Mistral’s poems very well. In order to achieve this, the translations can’t always be literal. Sometimes, it even seems as if Le Guin is taking liberties, for example when she translates estanque as millpond (in “El amor que calla”, pages 12–13) or al roce del cilicio as at the touch of the lash (in “Íntima”, pages 14–15) or “Habla con dejo” (literally: “[She] speaks with [an] accent”) as “She chatters” (in “La extranjera”, pages 192–193).

Mistral’s work is influenced by her Catholicism, which is reflected both in some of the poems’ themes and in metaphors, even in poems that are not religious. That does not mean you need to be religious to appreciate her poetry.

The book would have benefited from more careful editing and proofreading, especially the first part. Typographical errors include “I stretched our my arms” (page 29), “a mis casa” and “infinto” (both in the second stanza of “Desolación”, page 40) and “Roció” (the title of the poem “Rocío”, page 57).

top 5 books?

GREAT one to start off with. very difficult!

the history of love by nicole krauss is the first one that came to mind because i think it was the first "adult" book i ever read that really, truly captured me. i got on my annoying annotation game and highlighted one copy so badly i had to get another copy just to be able to re-read. i haven't revisited in many years but there are still certain lines that i can remember with perfect clarity.

the secret history by donna tartt is similar in that i read it in college and was like Wow. This Is Literature. it has just about everything i like in a book --annoying characters: check. murder: check. batshit dynamics: check.

gone with the wind by margaret mitchell is probably pound for pound my favorite book of all time, even at its most grotesque and horrendous. it is obviously a racist book written by a racist woman and simultaneously scarlett is the most fascinating character of all time To Me. like most annoying idiotic fictional woman ever and i'm also rooting for her bad. i also am very into a long as fuck narrative about the worst people of all time.

lolita by vladimir nabokov is another pick where it's like yeah obvious tumblrina pick but unfortunately nabokov is a master and lolita is a masterwork and it's not my fault.

we the drowned by carsten jensen, which is the newest read on the list and i've only read it once but it was long as fuck (love) and a huge sprawling narrative (love) and it was about men on boats (love).

As a lurker of the internet landscape, and who has generally not followed SPN in years, it’s always a joy seeing the fandom explode. Like SPN has a spinoff???? It’s a prequel???? Jensen Ackles is on it and living Dean Winchester’s best life in heaven??? He didn’t just do nothing for 40 years?????

And some of y’all’s posts. It really feels like it’ll be 2057, Castiel is still dead or whatever happened, the final SPN spinoff starts at Sam’s son (does Sam have kids?) getting married to his husband and Dean, who is now god or something, descends and is all angsty about this wedding and Sam Jr. asks his papa why that is right before the ceremony and Sam turns to him and says, “it’s time I told you the full story.”

Gospel choir version of Carry on My Wayward Son starts playing and then Sam’s son hears their entire story and totally is like, “yeah, Destiel is canon, we gotta get them back together!”

And then it somehow still ends with Castiel saying I love you again, Vladimir Putin being arrested, and Dean not saying it back even as Sam Jr. officiates their wedding in heaven.
