Jean-Paul Valley Sr, Ludovic to anyone who actually knew him in the slightest, was an incredibly severe man even outside of his career, a symptom of a life spent in service to an Order that had controlled every facet of his life and turned him into a weapon. The face that met Taro was not Ludovic's though, but the mask of Azrael. The foreign land of the future was not a place to be caught unaware or without armor.

"You," He landed down in front of Taro, red cape fluttering in the air. Frankly, he needed some guidance, and it was best if he approached someone who likely wouldn't be taken seriously should anything go south. "Do you know this city well?"

They're confused at first. Perhaps they didn't even think the news was true, perhaps they just didn't want to accept that one of their only friends was now gone, that the one who was so confident in them was another voice in the winds of the dead. Though they couldn't hear his like the rest.

Taro didn't think they were going to accept it. Just keep saying he'll be back, that he'd randomly be there like he always is. They just needed to wait a little longer.
