#barbie (2023)#we’re all talking about the america Ferrara scene#and we should be. it’s important#but I think this is maybe equally important#I think it’s really interesting that I haven’t seen like any analysis or conversation about Sasha or her perspective at all#not even many gifsets or edits#and maybe I’m just in the wrong circles and it hasn’t been hitting my dash#but I think she’s such an important character and there’s so so much to unpack within her and her teenage angst and her opinions#and I think it’s so awesome to see her go from being pretty jaded and defeatist about the world/society#to ‘you have to try. even if you can’t make it perfect you can make it better’#and I think that’s such an extremely important message that we need to be hearing more often#that our activism doesn’t need to be about 100% solving the problem. but goddamn if we could even just make it a little bit better#I had this conversation with my mom after seeing it together. and we were talking about all the different types of Barbie that exist now#like wheelchair Barbie and ‘fat’ Barbie and vitiligo Barbie#and she was very firmly in the camp of like. idk why that matters. it’s not going to solve all the social issues that disabled/plus size/etc#people face. so why put so much time and energy into making sure every single thing or person is represented in Barbie? and like#sure. BarbieTM isn’t going to solve all of womens issues. but if she can make even one girl feel seen or empowered then isn’t that good?#even if a Barbie with mobility aids only changes one persons perspective then isn’t it still worth doing?#even if you can only make the world better for one person or one area isn’t that good? isn’t it worth it#I think it’s such a powerful message. you can make it better#and I think it’s even more impactful coming from someone who started out so defeated#anyway sorry for rambling tags by jaskiers-sweetkiss

I don’t know if you’ve talked about it already, but I was thinking of in the high school au; what if eskel had like acne scars instead of the actual scars? I’m just thinking that it’d fit in pretty well with him being pretty self conscious about it, and being a little bit more of a modern take, you know?

I haven't talked about it yet but holy shittttt that'd be so fucking cute. My first idea was to actually either give him an actual scar or vitiligo and another was to kind of match up with book Eskel's story and wait for him to become an adult, meet Deirdre, acquire scar, and regret everything during that. And acne scars would honestly give everyone some representation so at this point I kinda just wanna make it the default but I'm still pretty fucking indecisive so imma leave this part up to whatever yall like because there's so many things to do with this, tbh.

But, ohhhh my goodddddd, Eskel with a patch of acne scars on the right side of his face just getting super self-conscious about it but everyone still thinking he's one of the hottest guys at school and they're so confused as to why tf he'd think otherwise because, like, ????, he's fucking pretty, dawg. The scars do nothing to pull away from that. And not only that but, he's also got a great personality and he finds out that he was a close fucking second to Jaskier on a "the most beautiful student" poll on a student made social media account for their school.
