Hi guys, this is usually what a doodle page ends up looking like <3 (oh, and @ancha-aus thought you might like this! Not writing but certainly fuel to my fire lol-)

This one is New Age filled!!! (Close-ups abd Lore beneath the cut!)

1) Night and Cross!

Night is actually very clingy once he's a teen. He doesn't usually realize it, but around the castle he'll snake to be closer to his Knights so long as there's no one he needs to keep his composure infront of is nearby. Cross is the one who's not used to physical touch (when it's not Ink ofc) so Night in his personal bubble makes his heart melt but also scares tf out of him <3

2) Error and Night's Meeting!

Error was carrying his whole life on his back and trying not to get arrested for unintentional property damage at this point, so when he saw the chance to get back at his brother and prove he was strong enough? Yeah, he got that on chance instantly. And was VERY smug when Nightmare chose him. (Also, Error is wearing gloves, so less Haphephobia)

3) Dream and Blue designs!

I think these are good tentative designs! Dream probably has a more regal fit, but he likes to play up that rugged exile look- He's inspired by Archers, while Blue takes on that classic Knightly-vibe. Their equipment is mostly stolen from Night's troops or brought with them from Blue's home kingdom.

Also, Dream is approx Killer's height at this point, shorter than Cross and *much* shorter than Apple!Nightmare. (Hc that Skeletons tend to be tinier in stature thanks to weird monster beauty standards. Horror and Geno's fam are outliers.)

4) Horror and Dust designs!

Horror is naturally a very *large* monster. He's very malnourished when Nightmare meets him, but by the time he's a Knight Nightmare has made sure that's no longer the case. He actually loves comfy, simple clothes, but to play up the whole 'strong mysterious' bit he wears a more barbaric Knight's garb. He doesn't mind acting scary, it's more fun that way :]. Dust is very very small, and envies horror sometimes for his size, but his tiny stature let's him control his body and move a lot quicker. He's very much based on a rogue, and usually covers the lower part of his face w/ a black cloth, and the upper part w/ his hood or mask. Dust only removes both to bathe, eat, or relax in a safe location. (Ignore that I can't draw the stupid gaster blaster lmao-)

These last two were space-fillers, but Cross and his Borzoi (Windmill, otherwise known as Milly (Killer named her-)) and really bad first wips of Ccino! I think Ccino was a chubby, happy toddler, but lost a lot of 'weight' (bone mass? Magic?) due to stress and pressure and bad eating habits. So it isn't until a while after the Coronation that he starts to relax abd feel safe enough to eat normal meals (Nightmare used to guilt him into eating snacks together, but as his boss (and younger brother) he can encourage it more often). By the time Killer shows he's still not quite healthy, but he's better. As more weight is lifted off his shoulders, the better he is. (That 'beauty' most people saw was a more stereotypical slimness, but Killer never stopped seeing Ccino as beautiful-) I think he never looked traditionally underweight, so no one noticed, and it was only much later that Night processed it. (And maybe it's why Dream hardly recognized him later on-)

written for the @merlinmicrofic april 2024 round, for the prompt: Tradition. Gen, Merlin/Gwaine (Established Relationship), Implied Golden Era/Court Sorcerer Merlin, Post-S5, Canon Divergence; 500 words

The tent flap opens suddenly, revealing a pair of bare feet under a green tunic. The sound of laughter and music, previously muffled, spills clearer into the tent – and then Merlin’s face appears, half-lit by the light of a nearby fire.

Upon seeing Gwaine, Merlin breaks into a grin. “Here you are,” he says, as if Gwaine were the one who had disappeared without warning. Merlin drops to his knees and the tent flap flops down after him, taking away the source of feeble light. He mutters a spell, and a glowing blue orb appears from nowhere, casting a gentle light over them.

The flower crown on Merlin's head, already askew, starts sliding off as he crawls forward. He instinctively grabs it, upsetting his precarious balance and toppling sideways. 

Gwaine props himself up on his elbows. “You alright there?” 

“Yeah,” Merlin says, arse up in the air and cheek to the ground. He pushes himself back up with some difficulty, holding the flower crown aloft in one hand. Once he’s sitting up, he drops it on Gwaine’s head. “It suits you,” he says then, clearly imbued with good cheer, and other spirits of an earthier sort. God knows what the Druids put in those cups.

“Thank you,” Gwaine says. He pushes a leaf away from his eye. “Where have you been?” 

Merlin lies down with a sigh. “Here and there,” he says, with a vague hand gesture. “I tried sneaking off to find you, but they wouldn’t let me go.” 

“It's alright,” Gwaine says. “It's why you’re here, isn’t it?”

Merlin rolls onto his side. “Have you seen the Great Bonfire?”

“Yes,” Gwaine says – for he has indeed. “About that.”

Gwaine’s not an easy man to shock – and he's not shocked, exactly – but one can hardly walk past so many people partaking in the old horizontal refreshment without remarking upon it.

“What's the deal with…” He hesitates. Merlin waits, looking clueless about where the sentence might be going. “...all those couples,” Gwaine continues, “coupling.”

“Oh! It's to please the White Goddess.” Right outside their tent, a Druid seems to be trying very hard to please the goddess and someone else besides – and being, from the sound of it, at least half-successful. “They believe children conceived on this day are blessed, and that She will favour them in life. So… It's tradition.”

Gwaine takes off his flower crown and closes the small gap between him and Merlin. “I see,” he says, pressing himself against Merlin's front. “Well. If it's tradition.”

Merlin hooks his foot behind Gwaine's legs and runs a hand over his back. “Of course, you and I cannot conceive a child,” he sensibly points out.

“Seems rude not to at least make an effort.”

Merlin laughs into Gwaine's neck – a sound infinitely more delightful than any of the wood flutes and crouths being played outside. He rolls atop Gwaine, pushing him on his back with a kiss, and they proceed to join the Druids in their Beltane celebrations.

bell’s hells: posters on a queer housing page in toronto pack 6-11 people (depending on the day) into a two bedroom; ping-pong between icily polite spy warfare and cloying codependence, all while ostensibly working together to save a critically endangered species of salamander—end up involved in years old industrial drama opposing their friend’s shady mining corporation mom.

sorry Shannon but I’m like 100% convinced it IS that easy and you’re just making it sound like it isn’t and the Black Swan has some secret trick we can't know to cover what would otherwise be a plot hole, beating us to pointing it out as if that solves it. like literally what could possibly be stopping them here (a few things, but things they could overcome). like i'm positive it's that easy and if they'd actually tried it would've absolutely worked

Stage Play: My Old Friend

i've been here more than 2 years now and gone deep into the tags a decade back. but i've never seen anything about Two of Us 2.0: My Old Friend, a stage play by Stephen Larsen imagining a final meeting with John and Paul on November 5, 1980.

here's the summary:

The play begins on November 5, 1980. John Lennon, alone in his apartment at the Dakota in New York City, is at a crossroads. He has been having recurring dreams of death and is ready to make big changes in his life, that is if he can summon up the courage. Just then, who should appear, unannounced at his door but Paul McCartney.  The two haven't seen each other for about four years.  John is both glad and a bit wary at the sudden appearance of his old friend.  Can they mend fences? Can they come together? Or they forever doomed to be bound by the strands and complications of their shared history?

here’s a copy of the script.

it packs a lot of bug lore into a few acts (probably too much for a general audience) and leans a bit exposition heavy to fit it into J&P conversation (assumes they haven’t talked most of the decade but then they start bearing souls). the dialogue is an acquired taste, and it commits the Two of Us sin of making paul more normal for the sake of plot and using him to talk through to john. it also leans into very dark territory by the end (tarot reading with jayne mansfield among other things), which is probably tough even for devoted fans.

but it notably features some very J&P moments complete with goons humor, spontaneous bursting into song, and wild tonal shifts that are very them. it's funny then that the most authentic bits are the ones that make me doubt it could ever be adapted right to the stage. at least not without a devoted group producing it.

would have made a good fanfic though. it's especially poignant after Now and Then's release, even if i am a bit skeptical about the timelines (the idea john and paul didn't see each other for 4 years, that the fall 1980 meeting was out of the blue, time of writing Now and Then, etc.). with the biopics back in discussion, it's worth taking another look at it.

this script was read onstage in holmdel, new jersey in 2018. did anyone attend the script reading?

most of the time requests/asks are made by us, it is not by the same alter (89%). and while it has the same emoji combo and/or same writing style, it is various alters. If reqs are made too soon or back to back, it is because alters may not know something has already been sent, so they send a different thing. the same thing with the mlp neogender series. the schedule was made so things like that didn’t happen, but some alters see the flags and go “ooo!!! flag. now i can make a new req :3”

this system is crazy. hard to manage. Tag made the Rarity req, but twilight and A.J were from Angel, Fluttershy was from Astro, Pinkie and Rainbow dash were from Jay.

Anyway, just wanted to clear that up because we get reaaaallyyy worried about unnecessary stuff and think it can be annoying OR just make it a lot of work but we know it probably isn’t that bad🙏

lmfao yeah we're tiny, all of the places i mentioned are in amsterdam though! every famous thing or tourist spot you've ever heard of is all within the one city, because for some reason ppl outside the netherlands (especially outside europe) don't seem to know that there's a netherlands outside of amsterdam 😭 i think dutch tourist offices just forgor to tell everyone there's other cities too
