I mean, we have someone like Mariann Budde getting death threats from people who, I’m sure, would describe themselves as ‘good, decent people’ while someone as detestable as Joel Osteen or Kenneth Copeland are living large and comfortable lives for selling lies to people and then using that fame and wealth to oppress people and enrich their already rich friends and politicians.
It does not matter how often we call out extremists and evil men on our side. Copeland and Osteen (and other more famous hacks like Hinn) have been the laughingstock of bible-believing Christians for decades, and the Prosperity Gospel has been under condemnation from practically every major pulpit and outlet, yet the very moment when someone (who exactly?) sends death threats to Budde (who is also very rich, and probably living a much more comfortable life than 99% of Americans, and has also used her platform to peddle lies and justify evil*), it all suddenly counts for nothing because...the people who threatened Budde somehow also shill for Copeland and Osteen? And that's somehow our fault...I guess.
Tumblr media
It's simple, really. We have to keep denouncing everything at the left's command, and even so the verdict still always is: "Guilty by association, Impact Before Intent". But Leftists never have to denounce anything and for any reason, and yet they still demand to have the first and last say in everything. Someone threatens Budde, it's an indictment of all conservative Christians; the Left gives us Covingtongate, and they still get to remain the Cool Kids and be considered our moral superiors despite not having apologised for that fiasco even once.
I’ve seen way too many ‘outliers’ use your god’s name for selfish prosperity or oppression to think there are many ‘good, decent people’ in the church.
We non-believers should do the work to not lump you in the same basket as those ‘crazy, greedy, or corrupted people’ but it’s not your responsibility to oust those crazy, greedy, or corrupted people?
See what I mean?
Meanwhile, "#NotAllMuslims", "#NotAllFeminists", "#NotAllRiots", and most importantly, "#NotAllNarcissists".
Trust me when I say that I have a TONNE of issues with the mainstream church in the West. I speak out of personal experience. But the defence of "not all, but enough" proves absolutely nothing, and more often than not is merely an excuse for bigotry. Either you will apply it consistently and you will end up hating everyone, or you will abandon it because most of the time it's crappy logic and it's applied haphazardly and hypocritically.
* Just so we're clear, none of that excuses the death threats which she has purportedly received.
A reminder that the vast majority of Christian’s and churches you may interact with are not co-opted by crazy, greedy, or corrupted people.
There’s this pervasive myth amongst seculars that Christianity is good but the people too often bad. Actually the norm is most churches are full of good decent people and the ones abusing Christ’s word are an outlier

Cult leader rat thing part 2, now with antler-like horns at the behest of my mutual, @virgoanmaenad. They do grow constantly and have no set maximum size, aside from the inevitable fracturing that would occur from the weight and ungainliness after a time.

Eerie how this applies to liberals’ support of the sex industry.
“If you don’t let men coerce women into having sex that they don’t want to have, it’s hate.”
Tumblr media
Thank you, OP for putting it to words perfectly. These people expect women to suffer through unwanted sex more than they expect a man to suffer through no sex.
the fact that people expect a woman to suffer thru unwanted sex more often than they expect a man to suffer thru no sex says all you need to know about how society (mostly men, but women do it as well) sees women and their role in the relationship.

This also @virgoanmaenad reminds me of your commentary on how feminist discourse can end up more focused on avoiding pleasing men than actually benefiting women
hate that the conversation around women’s clothing is always modesty vs immodesty, when these are male-created concepts. “oh that shows skin that’s what men want” “oh that hides skin that’s what men want” i don’t care. men want control. is it comfortable and is it practical? thick, dark, heavy fabric is not safe in hot weather, nor does it allow you to get vitamin d. inadequate coverage in the name of fashion is not safe in cold weather. i don’t care if this pleases men or pisses them off. if your mode of transport is foot, bike, or horse, pants are more practical. if your lifestyle asks for none of that, you may find a skirt more comfortable. many types of fashion force you to constantly monitor yourself — never comfortable or practical. clothing or shoes that damage your ribs, ankles, lungs — never comfortable or practical. i do not care what men want, nor do i care what men don’t want. comfortable. practical. we are animals.

Time to educate one of my biggest fans!! Unfortunately I can't post even the blurred pictures of the premature infants on here without getting flagged (trust me, I tried,) so we'll have to settle for my illustrations with links to the pictures.
To be clear, these are the 3 premature children she's referring to:
Tumblr media
Gestational age: 32 weeks
How he died: Possibly born alive and left to die. No apparent feticide indication.
No obvious deformities; appears to be a survivor of an elective abortion on a healthy premature infant, and an infanticide victim in violation of the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act.
See his pictures here.
Tumblr media
Gestational age: 28-32 weeks
How she died: Possible partial delivery, skull crushed and brain sucked out while alive.
Appears to have had Potter Syndrome, a deformity that made her an excellent candidate for perinatal hospice and palliative care. Wounds on the back of her neck indicate that, if alive at the time of the abortion, she was murdered in a violation of the federal Partial-Birth Abortion Act.
See her pictures here.
Tumblr media
Gestational age: 26-29 weeks
How they died: Possibly born alive during an induction abortion and left to drown in their own fluids.
No obvious deformities or apparent feticide indication; appears to be a survivor of an elective abortion on a healthy premature infant, and an infanticide victim in violation of the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act.
See their pictures here.
Tumblr media
Reminder that 21 week premies are viable and can survive on their own after birth.
Before 24 weeks they are known as "periviable micropremies". There are groups such as TwentyTwo Matters dedicated to getting these infants adequate medical care. Curtis Means is the youngest micropremie to survive to date, born at 21 weeks and a day. But that's barely even relevant here, as all three of the children above were already weeks past viability.
Which makes it all the more disturbing that @virgoanmaenad doesn't seem to care to find out whether or not these tiny people were the victims of federal crimes. I'd say about 99% of the world would disagree with her though; she is an abortion extremist, after all. In order to uphold her ideology, she has to deny that obvious baby killing is happening in the US and is enabled by the abortion industry.
If you want to learn more about how these babies were found, visit Jfor5.com or paaunow.org/justiceforthefive. If you want to see a video of the babies, watch here. If you want to learn more about later abortion, check out this post, or visit this index of sources on later abortion. If you want to learn more about the prevalence of abortion survivors, check out the work of the Abortion Survivors Network.
