The June 24, 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court held that the Constitution of the United States does not confer the right to abortion. This decision returned to individual states the power to regulate any aspect of abortion not protected by federal law. Since this ruling, multiple states have limited or completely banned abortion care for people who are pregnant. In at least nine states, abortion is blocked with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Multiple states have banned abortion after 18, 15, or even 6 weeks gestation. These time restrictions make it impossible for patients to use medical information from ultrasounds and/or genetic testing, available later in pregnancy, to determine if a fetus has an anomaly and/or a life-threatening or lethal condition.
These abortion restrictions and laws permitting any citizen to sue anyone “aiding or abetting” an illegal abortion for up to $10,000 has created uncertainty and fear among health care providers trying to provide medical care to pregnant patients experiencing miscarriage, tubal or ectopic pregnancy (when the embryo implants in the fallopian tube, where it cannot become a full term pregnancy; can be lethal to the mother if not treated promptly and correctly), or those who need prenatal genetic counseling. Clinicians are unclear where the lines stand between providing care and committing a felony that could equal jail time, and this means that pregnant people aren’t getting the appropriate and timely care they need, even outside of a healthy, viable pregnancy.
But did you know that the Dobbs decision has also prevented non-pregnant women from receiving the medications they need to treat lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other conditions treated with medications like methotrexate?
Chris Stallman, MLS, MS, is a certified genetic counselor, an expert in medication impact during pregnancy, and a Clinical Instructor of Pharmacy Practice-Science at the University of Arizona R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. “Methotrexate is a medication used to treat many conditions, including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and other autoimmune diseases. If a person who is pregnant uses methotrexate, it could increase the chance of miscarriage, birth defects, and other issues in pregnancy or after birth.”
For this reason, girls and women of child-bearing age who are taking methotrexate as treatment for their autoimmune or other diseases are not able to take methotrexate – even if they are not pregnant.
This critical problem is not hypothetical – treatment with methotrexate has already been withheld from female, non-pregnant patients with serious medical conditions in multiple states.
A 48-year-old woman in Tellico Plains, TN received an automated call from her CVS Pharmacy in July 2022 indicating that her prescription for methotrexate wouldn’t be refilled. This patient, who has inflammatory arthritis and a neuromuscular disease called myasthenia gravis, stated that methotrexate allowed her to resume simple, yet previously painful tasks like putting on her pants and rolling over in bed.
In June 2022, not 24-hours after the Dobbs ruling, a patient in Maryland who has Crohn’s disease received a call from her insurance company indicating that methotrexate, used to treat the chronic inflammation and pain associated with this condition, would no longer be available to her.
Within a week of the Dobbs ruling, a woman in Virginia who has Lupus received a letter from her doctor’s office indicating that it was pausing all prescriptions and refills of methotrexate because of the Supreme Court decision on abortion. Before taking methotrexate she experienced flares of Lupus so severe that she had trouble walking and needed to use a shower chair to wash.
Another woman from Missouri had been taking methotrexate to treat rheumatoid arthritis. When she went to the pharmacy to pick up her refill she learned from the pharmacist that they needed a specific direction from her doctor that the medication would not be used for an abortion. The pharmacy, Walgreens, confirmed with this customer that they do not require the same procedure from their male clients.
A 14-year old girl in Arizona was denied a refill of methotrexate to treat her debilitating rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. Her angry physician tweeted that her patient was denied this critical medication because she was female. The withholding of life-saving or -altering medications from the women who need them has forced some of them to consider surgical sterilization.
Could denying women of childbearing age (who may or may not be sexually active, fertile, heterosexual, or pregnant) methotrexate be just the beginning of problems for women who need prescription or over-the-counter medications? Stallman says, “This certainly could lead to more medication denials – and not just for people who can get pregnant. If my husband or children need medication that could increase risks to a pregnancy, would they be denied the medication simply because they live with a person who could get pregnant? Will health care providers have to stop handling or dispensing such medications if they or their partner could get pregnant? And before saying ‘that will never happen’, remember that is what people said about the overturning of Dobbs. We don’t know how far this will go.”
Let’s take this thought experiment a step further. Is it possible that young girls will have to present a letter from their pediatricians indicating whether they’ve started having periods before they can receive the medications they need? Will adult women have to present written proof of tubal ligation, menopause, or infertility from their physicians before filling their life-saving medications? Will other medications that can affect the health of a fetus, even the highly regulated acne medication Accutane, require such additional proof? Could pharmacies use the data they have on prior purchases, like tampons and lubricant, to determine if a woman may be of child-bearing age and/or is sexually active?
The Dobbs decision is just the beginning of our government interfering with womens’ bodies, their personal choices, and their medical care. This decision is already impacting health care outside of pregnancy and could force women and their family members to disclose personal information about their fertility, sexuality, sexual and medical history with pharmacists, medical systems, the government, and the databases that all of them use. Our federal government must act swiftly to ensure that this decision doesn’t lead to further government overreach, discrimination, interference in proper medical care, and tragedy.

Washington Post:
Scientists found a major clue why 4 of 5 autoimmune patients are women By Mark Johnson and Sabrina Malhi February 1, 2024 at 11:02 a.m. EST
An international team led by scientists at Stanford University has discovered a probable explanation for a decades-old biological mystery: why vastly more women than men suffer from autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
Women account for about 80 percent of the people afflicted with autoimmune diseases, a collection of more than 100 ailments that burden a combined 50 million Americans, according to the nonprofit Autoimmune Association. In simple terms, these illnesses manipulate the body’s immune system to attack healthy tissue.
In a paper published Thursday in the journal Cell, researchers present new evidence that a molecule called Xist — pronounced like the word “exist” and found only in women — is a major culprit in these diseases.
Better understanding of this molecule could lead to new tests that catch autoimmune diseases sooner and, in the longer term, to new and more effective treatments, researchers said.
Women typically have two X chromosomes, while men usually have an X and a Y. Chromosomes are tight bundles of genetic material that carry instructions for making proteins. Xist plays a crucial role by inactivating one of the X chromosomes in women, averting what would otherwise be a disastrous overproduction of proteins.
However, the research team found that in the process Xist also generates strange molecular complexes linked to many autoimmune diseases.
Although scientists conducted much of their work in mice, they made an intriguing discovery involving human patients: The Xist complexes ― long strands of RNA entangled with DNA and proteins ― trigger a chemical response in people that is a hallmark of autoimmune diseases.
Discovery of the role played by the Xist molecule does not explain how men get these diseases, or why a few autoimmune diseases, such as Type 1 diabetes, have a higher incidence among men.
“Clearly there’s got to be more, because one-tenth of lupus patients are men,” said David Karp, chief of the division of rheumatic diseases at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. “So it’s not the only answer, but it’s a very interesting piece of the puzzle.”
A tale of two X’s
An illustration shows one of the two X chromosomes typically found in women being disabled to ensure the right levels of protein production. (Emily Moskal/Stanford Medicine) Autoimmune diseases have long proved difficult to address. Treatments are limited, and many of the diseases are chronic, requiring lifelong management. Most have no cure, leaving millions of Americans hoping that science will eventually offer better explanations for these ailments.
Stephanie Buxhoeveden was 25 when she began experiencing vision problems in her left eye and found herself unable to hold a syringe in her left hand — a critical tool for her nursing job. The reason: multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the protective covering of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves.
“I was overwhelmed and scared because I knew there was no cure,” the Virginia resident said. “All of these things that I had laid out, planned and worked really hard for all of a sudden were completely up in the air and no longer guaranteed.”
Previous theories had suggested that the gender imbalance in these diseases might be caused by the main female hormones, estrogen and progesterone, or by the mere presence of a second X chromosome.
A tantalizing clue stemmed from men who have two X chromosomes and one Y chromosome, a rare condition called Klinefelter syndrome. These men run a much higher risk of suffering from autoimmune diseases, suggesting that the number of X chromosomes plays an important role.
Howard Y. Chang, senior author on the Cell paper and professor of dermatology and genetics at Stanford, said he began thinking about the ideas that led to the new discovery when he identified more than 100 proteins that either bind directly to Xist or to other proteins that bind to Xist. Looking at those collaborator proteins, he noticed that many had been linked to autoimmune diseases.
Chang and his team engineered male mice that produced Xist to test whether males that made the molecule would also have higher rates of autoimmune diseases.
Since Xist by itself is not sufficient to cause an autoimmune disease, the scientists used an environmental trigger to induce a lupus-like disease in these mice. They observed that male mice then produced Xist at levels close to those of regular female mice, and well above those of regular male mice.
In humans, genetics and environmental factors, such as a viral or bacterial infection, can also help trigger autoimmune diseases.
The scientists obtained serums from human patients with dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness and skin rash. Serum is the part of the blood that contains antibodies that fight disease. They found that in these patients, Xist complexes produce what are called autoantibodies. Instead of defending the body from invaders, as an antibody would, the autoantibody targets features of the body.
Inactivation of the second X chromosome remains an important process “that you don’t necessarily want to get rid of or tinker with too much,” said Karp of UT Southwestern.
“But this work takes it in a totally different direction, and says that the mechanism that is needed to turn off the second X chromosome, that mechanism in itself might be responsible for generating autoimmunity,” Karp said.
A better understanding of the mechanisms in these diseases would be significant if researchers can use it to develop new diagnostic tools, he added: “We are still using laboratory tests that were developed in the 1940s and ’50s and ’60s because they were easy to do, and they detected the most robust autoimmune responses.”
A long road to new treatments
Jeffrey A. Sparks, an associate physician and director of immuno-oncology and autoimmunity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital who was not involved in the study, said that it will be interesting to see how the treatment options available now might fit into this newfound mechanism.
“The sky’s the limit here,” Sparks said, adding, “I think once you understand the fundamental mechanisms, you could think about developing therapies, early detection and preventions.”
Major advances in treatment, though, may be years away, according to Keith B. Elkon, an adjunct professor of immunology and associate director at the Center for Innate Immunity and Immune Diseases at the University of Washington.
Still, he said, scientific breakthroughs in the past 20 years have prolonged the lives of many people with autoimmune conditions.
“In 1950, if you’ve got a diagnosis of lupus, it would have been as bad as getting a diagnosis of cancer,” Elkon said. “But over the last 15, 20 years there’ve been really striking breakthroughs in understanding disease. It’s at the cusp of now being manageable.”
Buxhoeveden, who is now 36 and a PhD candidate in nursing, is using immunosuppressants to manage her MS. She said she was encouraged by the fact that “we’ve made progress like this study to better understand what it is that triggers it.”

the beach part 4: tossed aside by a giant raven
ky and rim are hanging out, and lupus is en route to rescue them, and my god! action! intrigue! could this be the soul pearl? (reader, it won't be.)
Ky walked around the cave. "It seems I'm stuck." "Nah, I can get us out easy" He laughed. Then there was a rumbling. Rim stopped. "Hmmm?" she asked, slightly scared. "What was that, Rim?" "What was what?" Lupus asked, popping up from under the water.
He really knows how to make an entrance. Crucially, also, we get a Clove update:
Clove found some berries near by and picked it. Then she ate it.
I love her, I love Virginia's dedication to not catching up too much with what's going on in the story. Clove found some berries nearby and picked them. And then she ate them. Flawless.
There's a bit where Obsidian "looks down at Lupus" meaning... what... looking down at Lupus swimming away? I don't think they can see him right now! Anyway, Obsidian appears to be ready to make fun of Lupus for... for what? For being worried about Ky??? Correctly, Quartz tells him to pipe down and stfu.
Down in the cave (so many caves in these stories. caves within caves), Lupus and Ky reunite. Also, Augustine mentions that he was grounded! I did note his absence. Time always felt so slow and full back then – I'm sure he was really away for, like, two days.
"Lupus!" Ky shouted. She ran across the stone cave floor. She hugged him as hard as she could. "Now get us out of here!!" He nodded slowly, then stopped. "I hear something..."
Rim watching all this unfold like man_emoji.jpeg which is also the nature of Moopy observing this roleplay. Instead of contemplating his third wheeling too long, though, Rim suddenly works out what's going on. Look, the narrative tells us as much –
Rim suddenly worked out what was going on. He grabbed their wrists and dragged them out of the way of the stone slab which dropped down, blocking the entrance. "Common trap system of some ancient race, I don't remember which one," He heaved, "Do you want to take your chances running through a trap system with me or do you want to trust that I'll get halfway quickly?" "I can do it," Lupus said. "Good thing everyone didn't come here. Ky, do you have experience with these things?"
Lupus, buddy, as if you have experiences with convoluted and kind of goofy underwater trap systems. Reader, he doesn't!! Nobody does except possibly Rim's Boy Detective ass. Somewhat incoherently, our favorite boy detective explains that we are doing Indiana Jones now.
Rim cut in. "No, we need someone to go in there and start the trap system. My guess is that there'll be multiple entrances, I'll go through the one to the far right, and you go through the one next to that," He chattered, a serious look on his face. "Now Ky, if you could step into that rectangular shaped hollow in the wall and pull the lever…" Ky nodded and did as she was told. Lupus stepped through the indicated entrance. "We have to hurry." Rim shot through the entrance, and there were eight paths of stepping stones. They were slowly sinking, and the liquid was "Quicksilver, mercury" He yelled leaping from stone to stone. "And the stepping stones are sinking!"
Thank god, honestly, that among all of the very us-authored adventures Moopy got to take some leads of their own. Lupus confronts his own, somewhat less frightening adventure where he has to cross a narrow bridge over tentacle-infested waters. Jack has this iconic line:
Ky felt herself being lifted into the air and tossed aside by a giant raven "What is this place?!?"
To which Moopy finally explains that their idea was for Lupus and Rim to navigate traps together while Ky stayed behind and trusted that they would navigate the traps in time, which is... like, fair enough. Sand starts flooding Ky's room, Rim dodges boulders, Lupus jumps across rocks and avoids tentacles (did I nix the bridge between storyline comments???) and Lupus and Rim pull levers to move on to the next room.
Clove turns into a water dragon (she can still talk). Everybody ignores this.
Clove dove into the water and turned into a water dragon(she can still talk)
More importantly, pendant drop as Ky's room gets flooded with sand.
The door to Rim and Lupus rooms opened and they emerged into two different rooms, there was a lever, and a podium with a pendant on each one. The pendant were necklaces with spheres of crystal On lupus podium the sphere of crystal was a bluey white and rolled cold, just looking at it seemed to make you feel cold. It had metal in the shape of jagged ice around it. Rims pendant was an aqua orb, it seemed to shift and move, as if it were liquid. The metal around it was a wave in a circular shape Rim walked over to his slowly, just watched it for a moment before remembering what he had come to do. He looked around for an exit, and seeing one shut, picked up the pendant and walked over to the exit. The pendant seemed to fill him with power, and when he looked at t closely, he could almost hear waves.
There's some confusion over how many levers there are and whether Lupus pulled his.
Rather perturbed, Lupus pulled the lever immediately. Ugh. This was James's or Lorcan's specialty, though at least he could navigate traps and follow orders. "Right. Now what?"
He's so me. Also why do we know what Lorcan's specialty is. Nobody knows anything about the man.
Ky gets freed from the sand and gets a pendant of her own, Lupus and Rim gets their own pendant, and up by the shore, Quartz worries about why they're taking so long, which is sweet. Rim contemplates that the lever mechanism is a trust test – you have to trust that the person doing the trap system with you has to pull the lever every time. I do not really think the mechanics of this are very well established, but it's an idea, which nobody else has had for several days because they're too busy doing cannonballs. Also, in a comment, we learn what Rim looks like!
Average height, a widdle bit tanned, fit, always eating chips, dark green shirt and brown cargo pants, hazel eyes, and doesn't have any accent for some weird reason Yeah sorry I thought I'd wrote that, he has dark brown hair.
Does the shirt have the triforce on it? Just wondering.
The story perks up in terms of compellingness when the old-ass trap/lever system BREAKS, BADLY, and –
Lupus saw the lever ahead of him. Now knowing what to do, he ran forward and pulled it. Lupus's door opened. "Well done, Ky," Lupus called across the room and looked toward the door on the other end. "Rim should come out any minute." Rim watched sand pour down even faster and realised what had happened. The pulley system that should of opened his door had broken. It was already up to his chest. Rim was struggling to stay above the surface of the sand, but he was up to the roof now. He held his breath and the sand filled up the whole room. Sand leaked out of small cracks, hissing Lupus looked at it apprehensively. "He should be out by now," he said uncertainly. He then glanced at the cracks. "Ky! You don't think that..Rim's room is working differently or something? Broken, or a trap?" Rim was losing conciousness. Then the pendant that he had hung around his neck began to glow faintly. Lupus and Ky's pendants flashed brightly.
It's funny: this roleplay style of narrative is impossible to replicate in a novelistic manner, but it's so fun to read and write things that are happening in different rooms and still impact each other. It's a very hard thing to recreate, aside from in comic format.
Rim suffocates slowly due to Dying Of Sand, Lupus kicks the wall and worries, and eventually it occurs to Lupus to funnel the magical energy in his pendant to that of Rim's.
The pendant floated upward of its own accord, and floated of its own accord next to Lupus's nose. It was now glowing more brightly than ever. Suddenly, Lupus felt his power over ice ebbing away, into the pendant. A chill filled the room for a while, then left it. The energy passed through the wall and into Rim's pendant, enhancing Rim's power. (I dunno....) Rim was barely concious, but felt water. Or rather, the essence of water, in his pendant. He let loose a torrent of water which smashed the wall, letting him out in a flood of wet sand. he lay on the floor, spitting sand out of his mouth and gulping down air. Lupus rushed toward him. "Are you okay?" He felt rather odd from the pendant's extraction of energy. "Wait, no, that was a stupid question and deserves a sarcastic response." Rim barely heard but he shook his head. "I think I've felt worse though" He managed to say and dragged himself to his unsteady feet. (Timeskip back to the beach?)
They have a fun dynamic. Isn't it nice when people who aren't in love still get to be friends and hang out? This could be worth learning from.
We cut to Quartz, diving under to keep a lookout – presumably she's coming down and then coming up, given that she no longer has Rim's diving helmet.
Noting that Rim didn't look too good, she surfaced. "Guys! They're back!" "Oh, good," Obsidian said, feeling like he had breathed out after holding his breath for the whole time they were gone.
Wow, they care! It is nice to see Obsidian worry tangibly about people who are not Quartz or Chuji. Moopy and I do a little bit about having almost one hundred pages worth of roleplay. We learn that Rim hates sand, which is very real.
Rim came ashore feeling slightly better, and instinctivly lay on a rock rather then sand. He lay there soaking up the suns warmth. 'What was lighting up down there?' he wondered but filed it away in his brain under: to tired to think about right now. "What happened down there?" Quartz asked, looking from Lupus's eyes, which seemed less icy than usual, to Ky, shaken and covered in sand, to Rim, lying on the rock. "Too much sand," Rim replied. "Is all you need to know. There was way too much sand. And these," he held up his pendant. "Not worth it though." She raised her eyebrows. "Okay..." "What I don't understand though," Lupus said to him in an undertone, "Is how you got out." "Flashy light thingy, and the pendant was water" He muttered and passed out. "I'll look into it," Lupus said, more to himself than anyone else. Now that Rim was probably going to be okay, he hugged Ky, then sat down on the sand.
Really, you guys, give him some water or something instead of immediately asking him a bunch of questions. This is not a very heavily weighed or plot-important act of passing out, though, because Rim just wakes up and gets back to the technicalities. You can tell it's just me and Moopy online because we are both pretty stoked about this stuff and ready to technobabble. But how about we save that for another part?

A Guide to Obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card in Virginia
Medical marijuana is becoming increasingly accepted as an effective medical treatment in numerous states around the US, including Virginia. With many studies reaffirming the health benefits of medical marijuana, Virginia now allows those who are eligible for a Medical Marijuana Card to use the drug to relieve symptoms associated with qualifying medical conditions. Obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card Virginia requires a physician’s authorization, but with the right resources, the process can be fairly straightforward. This guide provides the necessary information on what is required to obtain a valid Virginia Medical Marijuana Card. It covers everything from required paperwork and fees to where to obtain the medication and how to use it safely. With this guide, you’ll be prepared to navigate the medical marijuana application process in Virginia and use this powerful medication legally.
Overview of Virginia Medical Marijuana Laws
The State of Virginia has recently passed legislation allowing the medicinal use of marijuana. This law allows those with certain medical conditions to use and possess marijuana for medicinal purposes. The office of Board of Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the program. For those who are approved, the law allows for up to two ounces of marijuana and five plants for personal medicinal use with the approval of a physician and registration with the Board. To qualify, individuals must be Virginia residents and have a valid and verifiable debilitating medical condition. The law does not provide for any form of recreational marijuana use and strictly regulates how medical marijuana products must be dispensed.
Who Can Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Virginia?
In Virginia, a medical marijuana card can be obtained by individuals who have a valid and verifiable debilitating medical condition. These individuals must be Virginia residents and be 18 years of age or older. A valid and verifiable debilitating medical condition is defined as a condition that is severe or life-threatening and substantially interferes with activities of daily living. Some examples of conditions that may qualify include HIV/AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, Crohn's disease, and epilepsy.
What Disorders Qualify for Medical Cannabis?
In Virginia, there are several qualifying conditions that could be approved for medical cannabis. These include cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, post-traumatic stress disorder, and epilepsy. Other unusual conditions that cause chronic or incurable pain may be considered, such as intractable headaches, spasticity, systemic lupus erythematosus, myalgic encephalomyelitis, chronic intractable nausea and vomiting, or neuropathy. A statement from a doctor must certify that all other treatments and medications have not been effective or tolerated by the patient.
Where to Go for a Medical Marijuana Card in Virginia?
The Board of Pharmacy is responsible for the program and governance of the medical marijuana program in Virginia. A doctor must be recommended through the Commission on Health Care or the designated state department of health before a medical marijuana card can be obtained. Patients must also meet with their healthcare provider for an in-person evaluation and examination to discuss their medical conditions and possible use of medical marijuana. After a successful evaluation, healthcare providers can recommend a medical marijuana card to be obtained or provide a written certification.
Required Documents for Obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card
Individuals applying for a medical marijuana card in Virginia will need to provide certain documents. These documents include valid proof of identity, such as a driver's license, state-issued ID card, or passport. A valid proof of residence in Virginia must also be provided, such as a utility bill with name and address. A photograph taken by the Board of Pharmacy for identification is also necessary. Additionally, two forms of written certification from a physician are required. These forms must include a diagnosis of a qualifying medical condition and an explanation of how medical marijuana will be used to treat that condition.
Walking Through the Process of Obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card
The process of obtaining a medical marijuana card in Virginia involves several steps. First, individuals must get approved through the Commission on Health Care or the designated state department of health to become recommended for a medical marijuana card. After an online application is submitted and reviewed, applicants will receive an email to schedule an in-person evaluation and examination with a healthcare provider. During this visit, healthcare providers may take a medical history, review the patient’s condition, and provide a written certification for a patient to receive a medical marijuana card. After the evaluation, the patient must submit two forms of written certification from the healthcare provider as well as valid proof of identity and proof of Virginia residence. Finally, the Board of Pharmacy will process the application and, if approved, the patient may receive a medical marijuana card.
Tips for Renewing a Medical Marijuana Card in Virginia
Renewing a medical marijuana card in Virginia is relatively straightforward. However, there are a few steps individuals should take to ensure the renewal process goes smoothly. First, it is important to plan ahead and not wait until the last minute to renew a card as there may be delays in processing. When renewing, it is necessary to make sure all necessary documents, such as proof of identity and proof of residence are up-to-date. Additionally, individuals should ensure a new written certification from a healthcare provider is obtained to verify the medical condition is still being treated with medical marijuana. After all the documents are gathered and the application is filled out, patients can submit the documents to the Board of Pharmacy and wait for their renewal.
Conclusion
A Guide to Obtaining a Medical Marijuana Card in Virginia is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to explore the potential local medical marijuana industry. With the variety of application processing fees, physician requirements, and dispensary locations, this guide offers comprehensive information about the state's process for obtaining a medical marijuana card. It provides a starting point for any Virginia patient interested in receiving their medical marijuana card and accessing the state's selection of legal cannabis products.

work is done, we NEARLY got done everything we meant to get done, and we're going to make another reread post. poppyworth time
1) hm. first of all, poor moopy having fuck-all to do while we rescue their character and the only person in the same space as rim is fucking monoceros who is no fun to talk to at all because he has two personality traits and they're a) committing arson for no reason and b) saying things like "murder is such a messy business" with no trace of irony
2) impressed with scratchlover999's commitment to posting through it on this rp despite their storytelling ethos so clearly not gelling with ours. we talk about "where is moopy now" but where is scratchlover. i hope they become a woman and fall in love with virginia.
3) the extranei being famous and being regarded as "the heroes" is so fucking funny. things they have done: a) helped a bunch of fairies and unicorns, b) rescued a girl who already lived with them from some robbers, c) failed to save goatville. indikum doesn't need these hormonal teenagers it needs volunteer firefighters.
4) highlights of this nonsense
"What?" she asked, genuinely surprised. "Everyone knows about you. You protect us all and keep us safe from that Monoceros feller"
LITERALLY THEY DON'T
Spark held her head in her hands as a crowd of boys of all ages ran by, holding a sign that read "We love you Spark!"
THE EXTRANEI ARE A BOYBAND NOW. i changed my mind, this rules actually. I like to think they had the sign ready in case she ever came by
Quartz had already found some boys her age and was engaging one of them in animated conversation.
Help. Is the implication that Quarz doesn't want to date unless it's someone in no way equal in narrative importance to her? Or is it a follow-up on earlier and she's enjoying getting what is for once the same kind of unrequited male attention that spark gets? much to think about.
It is worth noting that even in early installments where I make fun of Quartz constantly for being ~girly~, i never made her "boy crazy", that greatest of Girlish Sins. [Spock voice] Fascinating
5) Then Ky gets given a book called "Adventures of the Extranei: Harnessers of the Eight Element Powers," never mind that they in fact only harness six. It for some reason contains detailed examinations of deeply private moments between the crew, which (if I wanted to be a buzzkill) I would say was deeply creepy but obviously the gang is just having fun with Baby's First Metatextuality so I'll let it slide.
6) Then Chuji (who is broadly correct but perhaps overreacting a little) yells at everyone that they've got tozis to revive and rims to rescue. I do think it's at times understated how fairly distinct Augustine Girls are from each other. Chuji's a lot less Perky Yippee :) and a lot more goal-focused with a lot more of a temper than annue, and less uwu shy than holt. just things to bear in mind. Obsidian bodily pulls Quartz from the village and she was like "hey why did you do that i liked being famous :(" and gets told off for not thinking about tozi and rim's fates enough because quartz is not allowed to have fun in this roleplay. (the implication seems be that they were in the village for like.. an hour! a significant amount of time but not MAKE OR BREAK for their fairly generous timeline which is sooooo so fucking fast btw.) that said, obsidian being gung-ho about Bringing Tozi Back is great.
up next:
YOU CAN BRING SQUIRRELS BACK TO LIFE?
and also: LUPUS AND KY BREAK UP!
