i know better than to read/translate the lyrics to most darkwave songs as the vocals blend into the rest anyways so it's enough i enjoy the songs but sometimes i do look them up and why does it always have to be hauntingly beautiful or. this.

New Audio: California's SOFT VEIN Shares Brooding "LEASH" @softvein_ @artoffact
California-based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Justin Chamberlain is the creative mastermind behind the rising dark wave recording project SOFT VEIN. I was not expecting this major book hangover after reading Rabble: End Game. (spoilers ahead if u care)
the Villainous Things series is so fucking fun-- I wasn't ready to leave! even though there were hints of future mpreg, I would deal with and probably enjoy it anyway because that's my 2nd fav couple (Baltasar/Zion)
My FIRST favorite is a combo (possible polycule?👀) of Andre/Theo/Gabriel plus Micah/Ziggy. The Gabriel/Micah flirting and makeout scene was to die for! Would've loved to see them go further...
also I totally agree with Theo: twincest would be hot af. And then Gabe was all "he makes it sound so good" so it's basically 2 vs 1 and I can so see Dre caving to his subs ⚔️
also also the reconciliation scene with Theo & Ziggy was actually really touching 🥺 I think Theo should get a bonding experience with his offspring (Ziggy & Simon) and I KNOW it would be bloody🔪 because they're all psycho murder bbs (affectionate). They should get to take down the next big bad.
Simon/Wolfgang is my 3rd fav couple I guess. I really liked that Wolfy was SEVERELY touch starved when they met. that whole situation was so angsty and so hot when they finally got physical.
back to Balty/Zion: very into their giant- lizard- form- primal- mating thing. Baltasar has a cock pocket in lacertus form but Zion does not, which is why I got all the mpreg vibes. like B is an omega. which tbh it's always hot when omegas go into heat.
least fav couples are Xander/Butch and Violentia/Kai. I'm not much of a daddy kink fan. I'm even less of a mommy kink fan. and all the other couples have way better (imo) powers/ dynamics/ tropes.
oh! and bonus couple Luca/Erich: there's only short intro excerpts about them but I'm betting I'll rank them at least tied with Baltasar/Zion. because Luca is demisexual apparently (sweet sweet representation) and an alien (stellarian like Theo and Ziggy) AND was instantly obsessed with Erich after hearing his DJ-ing which perfectly matched his stellarian native language (I think Ziggy described it in his book like "classical music on electric guitar" "symphonic" and Micah had to create a special little instrument to mimic the resonance). so Luca was caught way tf off guard when a normal human was able to resonate like him.
I can't wait to listen to Rabble when it comes out on Audible✨️✨️😇😍🤩😁 Micah's VA is incredibly fun and energetic and amazing

Continuity and Rupture in the Long Middle Ages
https://justifiable.fr/?p=1951 https://justifiable.fr/?p=1951 #Ages #Continuity #Long #Middle #Rupture Présentation de l’éditeur The “Long Middle Ages” indicates a span of time extending from Antiquity, across the Middle Ages, to the Early Modern period. The author tries to understand factors of historical continuity binding this period together and the periodic scenes of violent change that disrupted societies and traditions. The Long Middle Ages were established on classical and biblical foundations, while each generation interpreted and expanded on those origins. The cohesion of the Long Middle Ages was brought about by continuous acts of reflection and renascence. Scholarly practices and ideas of Antiquity were taken up in the monasteries and cathedral schools of the Middle Ages, while during the Renaissance, and then the Baroque period, thinkers looked back to Antiquity and to the Middle Ages. Continuity and Rupture in the Long Middle Ages is an interdisciplinary approach to intellectual history, which puts the history of ideas in the context of cultural, political, religious, and legal history. Medieval history is the central moment, while continuity and change are found in traditions extending from the Lord’s Prayer (AD 30) to Jean Mabillon (AD 1632–1707) and onward to moderns like Ernst Cassirer and Paul Ricoeur. Readers will discover new significance in historical figures like the Venerable Bede, Boniface of Mainz, Charlemagne, and Pope Formosus – in the laws of medieval kings and bishops – and institutions like the monastery of Cluny. These essays, gathered together for the first time in this Variorum volume, offer powerful new interpretations for students and researchers in the fields of medieval studies, legal and literary interpretation, legal history, and the history of European intellectual life from ancient to modern times. Michael Edward Moore is Emeritus Associate Professor of Medieval and European History, University of Iowa. He has published numerous essays on political culture and European intellectual history. He is the author of A Sacred Kingdom: Bishops and the Rise of Frankish Kingship and Nicholas of Cusa and the Kairos of Modernity. Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Moore was raised in New England and later among the woods and farmland of his native Michigan. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan where he studied with Hans Küng and Czeslaw Milosz. He enjoys canoeing and hiking in the wilderness.   Sommaire Introduction Part I: Religion 1. Demons and the Battle for Souls at Cluny Originally published as: “Demons and the Battle for Souls at Cluny.” Studies in Religion / Sciences réligieuses 32.4 (2003): 485-497.

SPIRITUS, CLASIS, SOCIETATIS INTERACTION
Negant. Pugnae erumpunt. Purgamentum strues populus bibens ante tabernam incipiunt. Tandem concidit ebrius in laeta, et ibi dormivit. Mendici adeunt transeuntes.
Gravis crimen vel violentia contra alienos non necessario vigent in vicinia hoc loco, sed multi incolas putabunt crimen, praesertim violentum crimen, in ortum esse et mores suos proinde accommodare. frequentiis per plateas exeant et, si opus sit, ad unam partem retineant;
Alia sententia potius nuntiatur a ephemeride "Ilfoglio" in articulo a Christian Rocca data 08/09/07 in promptu ad: http://www.ilfoglio.it/uploads/camillo/tollezerogiuliani.html

VIOLENTIA.   ⟡   GENEVIÈVE DURAND KERR.   ⟡   27,  F.
DELICATE, LOVELY, DOLL-LIKE, YOU ARE A FINE PORCELAIN MARIONETTE EN POINTE, EVERY TENDON AND VEIN OF YOU A CULTIVATED ARTIFICE. There are stories about your family: hauntings, murders, uncanny deaths and disappearances. They linger in every silhouette, a gossamer maze of cobwebs swirling into the vaulted ceiling of the great, decaying chateaux your family has called home for generations. Your mother is the infamous widow and sole beneficiary of a multimillion dollar fortune. You have never seen her so alive than in the months after the untimely demise of your father. You were so young you can’t remember if you cried—you must have, the solitary tear dripping down your face an echo of your mother’s gleaming reflection. Is it any wonder you became what you are? From girl fascinated by darkness in all its myriad, macabre forms, to woman, lethal and honed in fatality like an art, your metamorphosis is now complete. Blooming like deadly nightshade. As any baroque masterpiece that has withstood time and ruin, your illusory beauty conceals an innate penchant for violence and profound cruelty. The promise of the abyss waiting in shadow and dream is a sumptuous chiaroscuro painting you in mesmerising, arterial enigma. It’s human nature, after all, to find terror in the sublime, to ache for beauty even as the horror of looking it bare in the eye swallows you alive.
DYNAMICS.
IRA  &  FEROCITAS.   ⟡   GIRLHOOD IS LIKE GODHOOD.
It was FEROCITAS first, beckoning you the way opposites always do. Ice and fire, cold ruthlessness and burning hot-tempered fury. She was unafraid of you, undeterred by the hearsay and disrepute that trailed in your wake. She didn’t care that you were the alleged daughter of a murderess, the spawn of Lilith herself, a girl of blood and unholy grace. Her fearlessness was freedom, and you had never known what it meant to entrust someone with all of you, even the darkness you kept docile and caged. IRA was your catalyst. The brute force and single-minded purpose behind every thrill and machination. The corners of her mind were intimately acquainted with monsters, too, and in her smile you saw the damnation you had danced all your life. Loving is an oath of violence for you—a loathing, by extension, of all else. And if it’s you and them at the end of the world, what better way to go.
FALLACIA.  ⟡   LOATHING AS A KNIFE LODGED DEEP IN THE HEART
What is it about hatred that tastes so intimately akin to obsession? Is it her smug superiority, her seeming lack of any flaw or imperfection, her pristine home with the perfect family like a miniature dollhouse? You can no longer disentangle antipathy from fixation, every shred of ill feeling and poison in your veins seems to bleed into preoccupation. She outperforms you, outshines you at the exhibition you have been dying to take centre stage at, and yet you cannot seem to excise her shimmering presence from even the wings of your own mind. It drives you to madness. To compulsion. You want to best her, destroy her, own her in some way. A piece of her stolen and severed, tucked away like a cut of hair in an antique locket—a trophy of your long-awaited triumph.
GULA.   ⟡   DRAW A MONSTER. WHY IS IT A MONSTER?
You know why things had to end the way they did. It was mob rule in the end. Animal kingdom survival of the fittest, strongest and fastest. They outsmarted him, and so he deserved to die. That’s simply how life is, out in the wilderness and in the uppermost reaches of civilised society. The thing is, you understood him. You, more than anyone, could empathise with him. He was venomous, savage and barbaric, quick to turn on friend and foe alike, and yet you could trace each vein that had led him down the path to hell. The scars that latticed his soul and his being, the horror of existing so self-aware and utterly incapable of change, corrupting him until he couldn’t decipher tenderness from cruelty. You know because you can’t either. It’s a tortuous thing to sympathise with the monster. To make a friend out of the beast in the labyrinth. To be the only one laying roses beside the abyss.

𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: the greenhouse 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: 30th of june, a bit after noon 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐓: @demoisellesombre / @nikhilvirani / @lcvesque
[TEXT TO: August, Geneviève, & Nikhil] 𝙶𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚗𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚜𝚎, 𝚊 𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚕𝚎 𝚋𝚒𝚝 𝚊𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚗𝚘𝚘𝚗.
THE ENCRYPTED CORRESPONDENCE IS SENT soon after her own questioning in the midst of sending a slew of emails and proofreading documents for work, so as to not draw attention to herself. Locked in a battle with war hounds with everything and nothing to lose, the chameleon that is Amirah must adapt; she will appear as she should, she will wait, and when the moment is right, she will strike swiftly and accordingly.
The iPad weighs heavily in her purse, the knowledge contained on it enough to make the Queen of Whispers truly consider keeping it to herself, bearing the brunt of it all on her own shoulders like Atlas did on his. And yet, even Amirah cannot deny the tentative bit of camaraderie that’s blossomed between them all in the presence of a common threat. It is this tender allegiance that pulls a soft, guarded half-smile in greeting at the first to meet at her place in the greenhouse where she and her purse sit on one of the benches, waiting.
“Would you believe me if I said we’re here simply for a change in scenery?” she casually says by way of greeting, attention flitting to the flora that grow at the bench’s base -- freshly budding flowers of purples, blues, and white.

Scouts returning from afield have been returning with reports equally conflicting and strange: some say there’s a beast of a man running about with an axe for an arm, and that he is seen only by day, and only from a distance, as though he knows to evade pursuers. Others say that no, the large bipedal beast appears only at night and wields a stick, alongside all manner of crude tools that seem to suggest the intelligence to set small traps. In the name of research, authorities want the beast captured, preferably alive, but if it starts to become a nuisance… [ Grants Lance +1 ]
Ares prepares to leave camp, amidst wild rumours of strange beasts stalking the forest. Hunting upon human flesh. There were reports the creature, or creatures, possessing almost human intelligence. He’s not sure he believes them.
Monsters are so rarely cryptid’s and beasts. They’re people in all their twisted glory.
Fundamentally though, it’s irrelevant. Whilst he’s no longer a mercenary by trade, over a decade on the battlefield have taught him never to flinch at any foe. Ares supposes if they can bring back something interesting for studies, the researchers will be pleased. The threat posed to nearby villagers however, is a more pressing concern. The lance in his hand is weighted, a comfort that grounds him. Mystletainn hangs upon his hip and a bow and quiver are slung across his shoulder. It never hurt to prepare thoroughly, especially against threats unknown.
A familiar shock of navy blue enters his vision. His posture relaxes somewhat, Felix was one of his few classmates who didn’t force him to engage in mindless conversation. Something he was a little embarrassed to be so relieved about but he had been trained to wield Mystletainn with impunity, not make sycophantic small talk with noblemen.
“Are you ready to go?” Ares asks, already making his way to the path extending from the camps clearning. He looks back, making sure Felix is at least following. The younger swordsman’s prowess left no need for concern, unlike some of their greener classmates. There was however, only one map between them.

give it a rest
closed starter for @violentiaed !
Sylvain isn’t a fan of the training grounds.
He doesn’t like the grit that coats the tile, doesn’t care for the sound of metal clanging against metal, and, most importantly, doesn’t like training.
Which makes calling Felix his friend a real pain in the ass sometimes.
He’s lousy with a sword, fumbling to block swing after swing from his opponent with hardly enough time between blows. His brow is slicked with sweat, the only real indicator that he may actually be putting forth effort.
Felix lunges left. Sylvain grimaces.
“You win,” his uniform jacket has been long discarded, so he’s left to wipe at his forehead with the sleeve of his undershirt. “Again.”
It takes a moment before he can pull himself to his feet, and he coughs to cover a groan. There are definitely bruises on his tailbone to remember the occasion by. Sylvain sighs.
“Y’know, Fe,” he scoops up his training sword from the floor, dumping it rather unceremoniously back into its designated place amidst the weapon racks. “I could name at least 20 things that are more enjoyable than this.”

a kiss to prove a point !!
Another Kiss || a kiss to prove a point
Morgan couldn’t believe they were even having this conversation.
They’ve been together for months. In love far longer than that. Their academy days were far behind them, alongside the war; Fodlan was at peace, and Morgan no longer needed to worry about whether or not Felix’s next letter would arrive. The lion was here, now, and had been for a while—eager to leave Fraldarius and spend his days in Morgan’s arms.
Morgan wouldn’t have it any other way. Except for the fact that Felix was still stupid. Even now, when the mage was knelt before him, ring box in hand, he couldn’t fathom that he truly, sincerely was loved.
“Felix, you—do you really not understand what I’m asking, right now?”
The ring gleams in the sunlight filtering in through the window. At least they were alone. Morgan gestures to the box housing the simple engagement ring and then to Felix’s hand.
“You’re— I’m— I’m proposing, Fel!”
“You don’t... you shouldn’t have to.”
“Wh—in Naga’s name, Fel!”
With an angry huff, mage pulls himself back to his feet and snatches up the lion’s hand in his own. He practically shoves the ring on the other’s finger, but before Felix can protest, Morgan’s lips are slammed against with an annoyed desperation.
“I love you. I love you,” he grumbles, emphasizing his points with extra kisses. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you.”
( The blush on Felix’s cheeks proves that he feels quite the same. )
