For just $35.00 This pitcher vase is a classic example of Modernism art pottery made during the 1940s-1950s and sold as Savoy China by the Deena Products Company of Chicago, Illinois. The ceramic body of this hand-decorated pitcher-vase is the color ecru and is decorated with splotches of white and then speckled with 24-karat gold. The bottom of the vase is incised with "Made in the USA, the number 151 and the initials of the craftsman. Normally, the base of Savoy China pottery is covered with a beige-gray felt pad and is identified with a foil label on the neck. Both these original aspects are missing. The condition is vintage-excellent with no breaks, cracks, impact bruises or stains. Measurements: Height 12 inches (31 cm) Width of body 6 inches (15 cm) Diameter of base 4.75 inches (12 cm) Net weight before packing 2 pounds, 10 ounces. Today’s inspiration is a 1940s outfit and what an appropriate one for me to recreate and to pun. Growing up I was told that being a good Chinese girl means growing my hair long, playing the piano, obeying my parents, and keeping my mouth shut. I was told that I was too honest (I didn’t know I had to pretend to agree with everything), too loud, and too opinionated. It wasn’t until I was older that I realised I need to truly be myself - the loud and sarcastic me!

Even on social media, many people expect a good vintage girl to be small-waisted, red-pouted, and perfectly coiffed. And some might even think a good vintage girl is like the Gibson Girl of the 1900s - liberal but not in a political way. To voice your opinion is taking the risk of losing followers or getting hate comments. I know many of us in the past weeks have noticed the impact of our support for the Black Lives Matter movement, but we also know it is wrong to have a voice and not use it - we can no longer be curbed.
