For the first day of the @look-back-month-challenge, "Introduce your newest toy to the one you've had longest," I have photographed the Kenner Dana Covergirl I got when I was five or six, so somewhere around 1979-80. She is contemplating a shoe from a Rainbow High shoe pack I got last October (technically, this shoe should be inside a cloth boot exterior, but I removed that and am very happy with the plain white pumps found inside.)

I chose the shoes as the new toy because it is genuinely so rare for me to buy any new doll things, and today I decided to try them on Dana, and they fit!

I don’t buy a lot of modern Barbies but I had to make an exception for this one, which has the Superstar Barbie vibe I love so much:

I didn’t realize the hair was a bit messy in this one (I’ll need to wash out all the product anyway) but still look how pretty this doll is:

And here she is with the original Superstar:

I wanted to switch dresses for some pics but the dress for the original Superstar is too narrow in the hips for this new dolly. I did manage to get Superstar a Barbie in the pink gala dress (although the back doesn’t full close):

I love that Mattel is embracing Barbiecore like this!

I received such a special Christmas present: an original 1965 "Lil Miss No Name" doll. It was my mother's doll and the only doll I really played with as a kid. I've been estranged from that part of the family for over a decade and my beloved doll is most likely lost. I would have dreams about her sometimes. I'm so happy to have her back. I want to make her some outfits.

Interestingly the original price tags are on; $.99 for Totsy Miss Flair and $1.47 for the as yet unseen fashion pack.

Let me cut it apart and have a look here ...

My Kenner Dana Covergirl (who I've had since she was new and I was somewhere around being in kindergarten) had been wearing this outfit for years, and I apparently had never taken a picture of it, so here it is before I change her clothes

The haircut is an attempt to salvage the cut I gave her somewhere around 1983, when I decided her original hair was too Disco and I wanted her to be more New Wave (and have bangs.) She went on on wear a lot of turbans and full-coverage hats for years, so it's default to dress her with a hat now

The new Bild Lilli book has arrived from Switzerland and features amazing pictures of the original Bild Lilli fashions, modeled on Peter Isler’s amazing collection of Bild Lilli dolls (including some ultra rare brunette and redhead Lilli’s).

The cover mimics the original Bild Lilli fashion catalog from the 1950s:

And the back cover features an old advertisement suggesting a gentleman could get a Bild Lilli doll as a cute gift for a loved one:
