The craft thrift store is expanding, and to help clear out the store in preparation for the construction work, they had a "take whatever you want for whatever donation you want to give" sale, which also included about 30 bins of outright "just take it" free stuff

Now, as much as I love thrifting and crafts, I know that the normal "everything you can fit into a basket for $20" and "everything in the store for $1 or less" and "teachers fill a basket for free" type sales the store has are, to put it politely, feeding frenzies, so I stay far, far away from those

My friend, however, was in the area that day and decided to stop by. They reported spending two hours digging through the free stuff (unknown how much effort was spent fending off other customers) and leaving with about 40lbs of Stuff (they did also go inside and get "whatever donation you think it's worth" stuff, for which they paid the prices on the tags)

ANYWAY

I saw the friend the other day and they gave me some stuff they'd picked out for me, which was mostly jewelry and sewing stuff. Included in the jewelry stuff was...this

Now. I do very much remember the late 80s/early 90s assortment of badly painted and dubiously sculpted resin craft heads, meant to be adorned with beads and charms and lace or Friendly Plastic™ and made into things like this

but I don't at all remember legs

so now I have legs and actually don't know how to use them

how do y´all feel about dyeing vintage clothes? Specifically a lacy blue/white MiBruSan blouse likely from the 70´s (????)

It´s either dyeing it black and wearing it (it would probs become one of my favourites) OR trying to sell it which... I don´t see there being much demand for it where I live.

I bought a painting palette that has holes to stand your brushes up in and has a close-able thumb hole so you can hold it. Idk if this is the standard for them now, but the cheap plastic ones we used to be able to get were just the little rounded sections or just had the palettes and mixing area, innovation man

Sooo this year for Spooky Day I wanted to go all out and create my very own set! 🎃 Just like most of us, my love for Simblreen knows no bounds so I wanted to try and turn it into something we can use to clutter up our sims' homes and get them ready for the spookiest night of the year.

My biggest inspiration for this set were vintage Halloween masks and decorations from the '90s, cryptids and a horror movie here and there.

The set consists of (from left to right):

the dancing skeleton craft box (2,295 polys; 1 swatch)

Most of the textures were hand painted by me and the Bigfoot and Mothman cutouts were inspired by this artwork.

in this world of clickbait and youtube trends i have so much respect for the hermits who just keep plugging on doing their own thing. like the integrity of Joe 'im not doing it if it doesn't match my ethics ' Hills, and Iskall 'im not putting out a video if I'm not happy making it' 85, and etho 'never in my life have I made a thumbnail' slab, and zedaph being on his own wavelength is impeccable. wels is always off doing his own thing, and that means we get hermitcraft when he is excited for hermitcraft, and that's great! beef quietly does his own thing and I love it (the team Canada stuff is a vintage feeling YouTube treat as well). Doc's videos are far longer than TikTok culture wants but that's his choice and I respect it so much. Stress is here when she wants to and when she can be and I am always so glad to see her. Mumbo makes what he wants to and I love his bouncing around minecraft building thought processes. Cub does what he wants and it's incredible. I love watching tango work on games, just as much as I love watching him figure out silly things, or run around with zed dressed as ghosts.

You can't put hermits helping hermits on a thumbnail, nor hours of mining resources for someone else. But they're what make hermitcraft brilliant. the very core of Hermitcraft to me, is in the janky tfc videos from demise where he tells people telling him how to play more like grian to get lost, and then goes to play with Cleo, who's hiding in his walls. Hermitcraft is in the laughter. In sending a friend a new computer. In knowing your friend's principles and trying to help them stick to them. In this world of clickbait and youtube trends, there is something at the core of Hermitcraft that carries the core of 2012 youtube, and I think that core is the integrity of the hermits themselves, and the respect that they show for each other and their craft

Double sided, split side opening cushion covers with pom pom trim here and there. The fabric is handcrafted, woven in Mexico and bringing a pop of personality to my home.

I winged the whole thing!! Things I learned:

Side splits really work, actually. They're A Vibe, they save on fabric (I didn't have enough for an inner fold to hide the cushion), and they're really good for double sided fabrics where you want the whole cushion face to show a pattern

Pom pom trim is a pain in the arse. Next time I do corners I'll try to get a cluster of poms DESIGNED for this, instead of folding short trim on itself to make a cluster, and I might hand sew the edges

Duh, not all fabric is cut to the same dimensions... Which is why the yellow cushion is swimming in fabric longways

My house looks much nicer with these, now I need to make even more

Also look how well I lined up the colours on the edges!
