The mission had gone south quickly. It was supposed to be easy: in and out. They weren't supposed to be discovered, let alone attacked by Atlesian equipment. But as usual, Emerald and Mercury wanted to be quick and because of that, they got sloppy. And now, Weiss was had paid the price. They had fought but they were out number and the machines were hard to take down.

The wounds she had sustained during the battle were severe enough that Mercury had to carry her out. Weiss had woken up in the infirmary, a familiar face leaning over her: Cinder. Anger wasn't the only emotion that the white haired beauty registered across her features.

"How many times have I told you to be more careful?" The words hit like a bullet, causing her to wince. "Don't look at me." She quipped back. "Your lackies are the reasons we got caught in the first place."

She snorted. "Do they really?"

"Uh... They do. Or, they will..." Jaune could just die.

"Well, I'm Ruby. Ruby Rose." She raised her fingers into less shaky finger-guns. "And I'm also a Shadow Masque fan~!"

"Oh, that's good..."

"What were you trying to accomplish by doing that, anyways?"

"I was... trying to look in front of you."

"Aw... You don't have to do that." Ruby put a hand on his shoulder.

"I don't?" Jaune replied, hope brewing in his eyes.

"You already threw up on my sister's shoe. There's no coming back from that." Jaune slumped forward, exhausted. As he did, a thin slab of metal wobbled from his side. "Hey, what's that?"

"What's what?" Jaune looked up, noticing Ruby eyeing his weapon. "Oh! This is my sword." He clicked it open, extending the sides into a kite shield. "Oh, and uh, shield, too."

"Wow..." Ruby gazed in awe. "It's so retro!"

"Yeah, I borrowed it from my-" Jaune blinked. "Ret- Retro?"

"Yeah, you don't see a lot of classic weapons these days."

"W-Well, it's not that retro!" Jaune clicked his shield, compacting it into a sheath. "See?! It's easier to carry now!"

"But wouldn't it still be just as heavy?"

"Y... Yeah..." She giggled. "Well, what makes your weapon so state-of-the-art?"

"Well, I wouldn't call her state-of-the-art, but..." Ruby whipped out her weapon, as Jaune watched helplessly as it mecha-shifted into a massive scythe almost twice his size! "...Crescent Rose gets the job done~."

Jaune fell to his knees. He was going to throw up. He was going to throw up right here, in front of this younger student with the cooler weapon than he could have ever dreamed of. He could honestly cry if not for one thing he still had on his side... IMPROV!

He chuckled. "An impressive class of weapon, Miss Rose~." She blushed. "I look forward to seeing her in action." He leaned in close. "And yourself, too~."

"Oh, stop~!" She squirmed at the compliment. There was an announcement on the PA system. She shook her thoughts clear. "Uh, we should probably make our way to the auditorium, right?"

"Yeah, we should." Jaune dropped the act, regaining his composure. "Uh, lead the way!"

"I thought you were leading the way?" Ruby asked. The two stared at one another before they both slumped with a sigh. "Let's find a map."

"Well, I think I'd rather just let fate decide who's on what team." The young woman in bronze answered.

"You mean the same fate that brought me to you?" He gave a bow, his hand crossing over her chest as he dipped low, not looking up once. "Jaune Arc, future huntsman."

"My, aren't you confident?"

"Too confident." Weiss huffed. "Jaune, is it?"

"It is." He looked up, offering his hand to her, palm up. "And you are~?"

"Annoyed, actually." She said with flared nostrils. "But if you must know my name, it's Weiss Schnee." She gestured to her friend. "And do you know her name?"

"No, but I would like to~." The unknown girl giggled at his words, while Weiss only got angrier.

"Oh, stop~!"

"Yes, please, stop! This is Pyrrha Nikos!"

"A pleasure, Miss Nikos."

"Please, call me Pyrrha!"

"I'm sorry, I don't think you heard me." Weiss retracted. "This is THE Pyrrha Nikos!"

"The one and only, of course." Jaune kept laying on the charm, making her blush. It quickly stopped when Weiss grabbed his nose and tugged it down. "OW!"

"Pyrrha Nikos! Regional Champion of Mistral! Top graduate of Sanctum! THAT Pyrrha Nikos!"

Jaune stepped back, rubbing his nose. "Uh... Sorry. None of that rings a bell. Should I know you?"

"Have you been living under a rock?!" Weiss nearly screeched. "She's on the face of Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes!" Jaune gasped, and Weiss let out a sigh of exasperation. "Finally..."

"Oh, that was you! I thought you looked familiar!" Jaune lifted his chest-plate to reveal the bunny hoodie beneath. "I ate, like, fifty boxes to get this thing!"

"Oh, I... bet they were scrumptious..."

"Not really." Jaune admitted, bringing his armor down. "They tasted like cardboard to be honest."

"Yeah, they did..." Pyrrha reminisced on less happy days.

"Well, Pyrrha," Jaune offered his hand to her, "I'd be more than happy to see a woman of your skill on my team."

"How about a demonstration?" Weiss asked, looking to Weiss. She nodded to Jaune, and the celebrity sighed.

"I'm really sorry about this." Pyrrha said as she stood up.

"Sorry about WHOA!" Jaune was now pinned to the wall of the locker-room, held aloft by Pyrrha's spear. She reached up and yanked it out, apologizing as she passed.

"So, this is Dork Masque, huh?" A girl asked as she passed by, Ruby close behind.

"Don't be mean, Yang!" She looked back to Jaune. "Uh, see you later, Jaune."

He sighed. "Yeah... See ya."

He stood up and brushed himself off. Reaching behind him, he felt the hole in the hood of his one victory in life. He took a deep breath and shuffled to the exit as he sighed. Hopefully there won't be worse understanding like this. Thinking back on it, though, this dark persona he'd fashioned from Dark Masque seemed to be working. Maybe he could play around with it for just a little bit longer. He'd have to come up with a cooler name, though. Something like...

Yang: We're fighting!

Can you imagine how utterly twisted and ironic would it be if Jaune became a Villain and ended up saving far more lives as one than he ever did as a Hero...?

Eh so I’m bored and just want to go a WR filled rant so I’m just going to go on another talk about Whiterose undoubtedly going to be Canon because of all the factors and potential and stuff we seen

So feel free to read and comment and do whatever in regards to this but but i will let you know that if you approach my post and be negative or a troll, just going to ignore ya

Anyways, let’s begin with the rant by starting off with the most obvious part: Patterns/Soulmates

Starting off with this part, it’s relatively simple idea to get across when I say… There is a literal pattern that shows how all Partner ships are going to be canon and why it makes sense they would be canon. Which one of the strongest pieces that prove this point being the whole pattern of opposites attract that balance each other out.

Something that can be greatly seen with Ships like Bumblebly, Arkos, and Rennora, All canon partner ships.

And this is something that can especially be with Whiterose and with how Ruby and Weiss are practical opposites since the beginning but they greatly balance each other and greatly understand each other better than anyone.

They are Fire and Ice, the warmth and the cold, now with Vacuo and what we see with Ruby/the schnee family, The Hero and the Villain.

However, despite their differences or how opposite they are, we see how Ruby and Weiss balance each other out.With Ruby’s warm personality balancing out Weiss cold personality or how Weiss fighting style helps to balance out and support Ruby’s fighting style

And we see how well that balance helps the other out… and happens when Ruby and Weiss are unable to balance the other out

But another fact we should take note when it comes to the whole pattern is how, so far, all canon partner ships all seem to be soulmates and that can be heavily supported by how the partner selection ceremony from V1 seems to be based on soulmates with the whole idea behind being that Partners selection are left up fate/destiny.

Literally thrown into a forest and are meant to run into someone and make eye contact with them for them to be your partner for coming years, something that literally can be drawn out and seen as a thing for soulmates/a soulmate concept (heck, the eye contact stuff with is something I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a lot of soulmate Au’s or stories use).

But ultimately there are other factors and things that make the whole pattern very obvious or some stuff that just just describe the pattern and the whole soulmate stuff, but honestly that’s just going to lead me to figuring some other stuff and then talking and ranting more and more and not talking about the other points

So moving on, let’s now talk about Potential

Starting off, let me just go ahead and say that this is probably going to be a short point I’m going to talk and that it is essentially me just saying that out of all the ships for Ruby or Weiss, Whiterose is the one ship that really only has the potential/has the greatest amount of potential to be canon.

Why? Well that’s very simple, incredibly simple actually

Ruby and Weiss are the two people who greatly need to talk to each other and greatly need a heart to heart moment in RWBY. They are both practically tied to each other arc’s now due to stuff that happened back in V8 and V9 as well as now how quite literally, they are both the only people who can give the other what they are missing… what they need to be whole again.

They are tied in that, back in V9, they both failed each other and feel significant guilt over that failure for each other… and undoubtedly have a desire to try and be their for the other or do something to apologize/make up for that failure in V10 and beyond, much the same as a few other ships.

They are tied in that they are both the only person that can give what the other needs with Ruby being the one person who can/has already given Weiss a place she can call home again among team RWBY and Weiss is the only other character who can be the one who will always be by Ruby’s side and fill the missing void left by Summer and Penny, be the one to help put Ruby back together through being someone can make that promise to remain and to always believe in her no matter what.

And just overall, with what happened in V9 and all the connections and how Ruby was the only to notice Weiss pain about Atlas or Weiss was the one who truly understood what was wrong with Ruby and why she was hurting as badly as she was without telling anyone

It’s very clear as to why Whiterose will become canon from looking at how much potential they have and how their relationship will have a major role in V10

But another way is to look at how much growth their relationship has already gone through and easily determine through that growth the ship being canon

What exactly do I mean by we can tell WR is going to be canon just by looking at the growth of the relationship so far? Again, very simple

Much like every ship that is so far canon and so far every development, a major factor in each partner ship is how the characters within each ship causes the other to grow and change in different ways.

For example

With the Bees you have how Blake and Yang gradually help bring out the best in the other with Blake being more joyful and happy and Yang being more calmer and patient/less prone to anger, or how both Blake and Yang were able to help them to change and realize that they are worthy of love and not afraid of it

Or

With Arkos how Pyrrha helps to train and make Jaune not just a better fighter/leader but genuinely more strong willed and courageous, or how after Pyrrha’s death, while being the reason Jaune pursued such a path, being the one who ultimately managed to get Jaune to change and move on from the pain and sorrow and instead honor her memory then avenge

But how is that his all relevant to Whiterose and how they grow, well, it’s because Ruby and Weiss help each other to grow and change in that way as well

Ruby helps Weiss to change and become genuinely more warmer and more understanding and patient, to become less of a ice queen and rather someone who is far more supportive, inspiring, kinder, and warms

Weiss helps Ruby to change and become more of a better fighter/leader and to help her become more understanding and determined, to no longer be the anxious girl just starting beacon to the brave and strong huntress who stands up and manages to inspire the world to work together.

And we know this to be the case with how “one small act of kindness brings about marvelous change” or however the blacksmith puts it, we see that with Ruby and Weiss, and with all the other partners

We see that with how Weiss back in V1, with a single moment of kindness of showing that she believes in Ruby and sees she can be a great leader as well as a promise to be the best teammate

Help to change the two to become far better then ever and to grow in ways that are quite marvelous indeed

And we also don’t see just positive changes, we all some negative changes or pushes that causes thing to happen

With all ships and WR especially

Bees have the losing one another causing them to change both negatively and positively, Arkos has Jaune losing Pyrrha and pursuing revenge changing negatively first and then ending in a positive manner, Ren and Nora separating in V8 and being lost/confused on who they are and what they want in a negative sort of change til after they reunite and figure out what they want first

Ruby and Weiss change negatively in V9 and most likely a part of V10 for Weiss with how Ruby lacks Weiss as a major pillar of support and how she misunderstands Weiss words or what she is doing, causing her to break her mask finally and to let out all that she been bottling up/hiding away (though this does lead later to how Ruby learns she is just enough/she doesn’t have to be perfect). As for Weiss, we don’t fully see the effects yet and don’t see how much Weiss is going to negatively change from some events but due to JL part 2 and how Weiss character is… needless to say it’s probably going to be something

Either way, just from looking at Ruby and Weiss is growth, we can tell that they are incredibly important to each other and they are very special for each other.

But overall

There is many ways to see how Ruby and Weiss are incredibly special to each other and especially how Whiterose is undoubtedly going to become canon. Many things that can be pointed to and just a whole bunch of cute stuff

But overall, I hope you all enjoyed this little talk I did and had a good time reading it or whatever, I might make a part 2 in another couple of months for the heck of it because why not, it’s fun and it just something to do during the hiatus

Rwby au idea, has this been thought about? Maybe. But I offer

Au where there aren't Academies and instead all training is done by huntsmen either related to an apprentice or from the same town as.

Huntsmen were once considered noble heroes but with the death of Ozma centuries back, a darker Era was ushered in and the once revered fighters fell into greed. Largely they're mercenaries now that defend towns or make journeys across Grimm infested territories in exchange for a price.

Technology is far more limited with the most advanced society, atlas, being considered almost a myth among other kingdoms due to it closing itself off from all the others 2 centuries ago.

Faunus are a more reclusive group, a few appear in towns every so often and are met with awe and treated often like spirits, but they figured out ways to survive in Grimm territory and find humans far too dangerous to spend long periods with beyond simple trading.

Fairies and witches used to exist back when Ozma was alive but seemed to vanish following his death. Every now and then a new malevolent being crops up with some horrific magic power that they use to terrorize a town or two and while sometimes huntsmen get dispatched on dangerous missions to slay the villains, sometimes the threat will disappear on its own. No one is sure why yet.

The story would follow Ruby setting out to track down her uncle who went missing. She's an idealist who still believes in the honor of the old huntsmen. She's fascinated by the history of heroes and has a strong knack for dealing with Grimm. People not so much. She isn't exactly a skilled fighter but us tenacious and her spirit helps keep the group moving.

Taiyang runs the tavern in town and as such Ruby and Yang would hear a ton of conversation from huntsmen and few travelers with news of the outside world. This is where ruby hears of a fighter that sounds like Qrow who hasn't returned home in months and decides to set out to find him.

Yang joins the journey after noticing ruby missing and being unable to convince her to turn back.

Blake is the third to join when ruby and Yang get lost in a forested area trying to escape Grimm. Her plan is to initially lead them out of the woods and tell them to stop being a bother and return to safety, but hearing of one human that still believes in the honor of huntsmen and the power of Ozma she begrudgingly joins the group to try and make sure Ruby doesn't die.

Weiss would join after they've been to a town or two because she'd be the sole survivor of an envoy headed from atlas to the largest city in Vale as they'd attempted to escape Grimm attacks.

the core cast in volume one/two is ruby, weiss, blake, yang, jaune, nora, pyrrha, ren, torchwick, and cinder, with ozpin, ironwood, and qrow being key players in the background.

the core cast in volume four is ruby, weiss, blake, yang, jaune, nora, ren, sun, salem, and cinder, with oscar, ironwood, and qrow being key players in the background.

the core cast in volume eight is ruby, weiss, blake, yang, jaune, nora, ren, oscar, qrow, penny, winter, ironwood, salem, and cinder.

the core cast in volume nine is ruby, weiss, blake, yang, jaune, and the curious cat.

in volume ten, the core cast will most likely be ruby, weiss, blake, yang, jaune, nora, ren, oscar, qrow, winter, emerald, theodore, salem, and cinder, with the summer mystery simmering conspicuously in the background.

the narrative has so far spanned four countries, multiple continents, and a primordial otherworld, across nine volumes. the core cast has not significantly expanded in that time and has also not changed very much, barring a handful of major character deaths, new arc villains introduced after the villains of previous arcs were defeated, and promotion-to-main-status of a few characters who began as supporting players who were doing Main Plot things in the background of what amounts to the story’s prologue.

rwby does not suffer from cast bloat. rwby suffers from having a contingent of the fandom that cannot wrap its head around the concept of a “supporting cast” and is consequently so hung up on a bit character who appeared once in volume three that people were seriously speculating that Random Named Extra #27 was going to suddenly be super important in volume 9.

anyone who tells you that introducing new side character locals when the core cast follows the plot to a new location is “cast bloat” or “bad writing” is 1. off their rocker and 2. not acting in good faith.

for having the scope that it does—a globe-spanning cosmic cold war millions of years in the making—rwby has kept a remarkably tight cast. my for want of a nail au fic’s core cast is triple the size of rwby’s and i have hundreds of supporting players. like. lmao

So I was straightening out and revising some of my content and I kept noticing little things I didn’t intend but are cool to think about.

Weiss and Nora are constantly hanging out and are consistently the envy of every mother at a PTA meeting in the TSF AU

Jaune and Weiss know how to drive a Yacht

Any child of Yang has the biggest branching family tree aside from the Arcs

TSF Yang has put down the most villains.

In Lasting Embers, Qrow had a kid years before the whole of team RWBY worked out their drama. Potentially even before Ruby got married.

Ruby only has Dustin’s eyes whenever she thinks of Cinder.

Premonition is the only AU where the friends eventually graduated.

TSF as a casualty rate of exactly one hero character and that’s Pyrrha

Ruby takes Whitley grimm hunting so he can have cool summons.

Carmine’s dual hair color looks like a ripening strawberry. Guess you can call her a strawberry blonde

Adam has been at Yang’s home more than she has and that’s a crazy thing to think about.

L.E AU would all things considered have the strongest team RWBY, but also has the most casualties.

Aside from Rosebud, Ruby and Weiss are always the last to get married

Neo is Lasting Embers has somehow made it into both main friend groups by not just being talented at her job, but also having an “interesting” relationship with a member. Adam for the bad guys, and Weiss for the good guys.

This one isn’t an accident, but I still think it’s pretty cool that Veronica didn’t utter one lie throughout any story.

Blake has the most consistent win rate in all my AU despite also being the weakest in all of them as well. Meanwhile Yang’s track record is the riskiest.

TSF Weiss and Ruby share a wedding anniversary.

Penny and Oscar have been married the longest out of all my couples in any story except Lancaster in Rosebud.

Hello, redeemed Adam AUs anon here! Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. Despite close friends telling me to watch FMA for years, I've never gotten around it so I didn't know about Scar. However it's obvious the writing is far superior, and I've watched Arslan Senki from the same author so I know we can trust her with antagonists.

You mentioned the authors having to acknowledge that the system is flawed in the first place, to which I nod eagerly! Except, the authors already acknowledged this!!!

In V4 E6, at the charity party, there's a businessman that's always forgotten, who mentions the real problem is society as a whole. Even worse, that the faunus were PROMISED JOBS by the SDC! So they were cruelly tricked! By the dialogue, Jacques says mining staff from Atlas and Mantle are paid the same, but the businessman points out that there's a significant economic disparity between the two. Obviously it was a good scene to portray and acknowledge the actual issue and how people of power in Atlas didn't care anyway. Good scene.

Except it was never brought up again!!!

I swear, every time you think CRWBY can't get worse, they prove you wrong. So you acknowledge society is at fault, Adam and Ilia's families were tricked into getting a job, and the SDC is very aware of the issue (including Weiss WHO WAS PRESENT), yet ADAM is at fault? Huh? Wha? HUH?!

I know V4 and V5 are known to be some of the worst volumes (dethroned by V8 and V9), but they had so much lore hidden in details that went forgotten two seconds later, they sometimes feel like a fever dream.

You're welcome, anon! To be honest, having such a nice ask after so long was a refreshing surprise for me lol. I'm glad that my answer was satisfactory, and you really should get into FMA! (Based for reading Arslan Senki tho-).

I'm really impressed that you remembered that segment of V4, so I went back to rewatch it myself (in Japanese dub, I can only take Nora and Ruby's Eng voice for so long), and yeah! They DID acknowledged it! Which is why not having Weiss confronting the malpractice of her family's company in V7-8 was so frustrating! Not SHOWING MORE of the wealth disparity of Atlas and Mantle was so bad! We were stuck in a nothing arc where the only person making sense, Ironwood, was bastardized even though in the same episode in V4, he stood up for Weiss!

Ironwood understood that the system of Atlas was extremely flawed, and he ran himself ragged to make sure it gets reformed against an entire council who doesn't care! The guy who actually gave a fuck was made into a villain because the writers are incompetent, the child slave who was branded and disabled was killed off with NO ONE knowing about his abuse or even acknowledged after his death, and the two main characters (Weiss and Blake) fucks around in Atlas with people they do not like instead of at least going to a political rally to support a council candidate who wanted to do better for both human and Faunus!

Hell, Blake and Weiss never brought up the abuse that Faunus goes through in the SDC itself after V7C3, where all Weiss does was give Blake a luke warm apology about her family's sin. Hello?? DO SOMETHING THEN! ARRESTING YOUR SHITTY DAD WILL NOT CHANGE THE WAY FAUNUS WORKERS ARE TREATED, ALL YOU DID WAS CREATE A POWER VACUUM FOR PEOPLE WHO BACKED HIM UP TO TAKE CHARGE AND CONTINUE THE ABUSE!

The show can acknowledged the imbalance all it wants, if it doesn't take the fucking charge of challenging the system it's calling out with its characters, it means nothing. Adam and the Amitolas weren't the only ones tricked to work so that they can survive in a kingdom that hated them for existing, but our protagonists do nothing to prevent more like them from being exploited.

I also stated that the authors have to acknowledge this systematic abuse applies to fan creators. You can criticize Adam for his actions against innocents all you like, but the moral of the story is that he is still a victim and shouldn't be made into the scapegoat of anti-Faunus violence. Adam wasn't wrong to be angry or hateful, stop demonizing him for being rightfully bitter about being abused! Stop with the Perfect Victim shit, please!

V4-5 were bad because they had potential but the writers elected to be boring with them instead, at least those two had a point. V7-9 meant nothing, and that's why they're the worst of the show yet.

I’m not much of a shipper but when it comes to villain Rwby in the AU I’ve been working on I do think about it more. And because yang xiao long is my favorite character I’ve been thinking about who she might end up with.

Edit I realize this post is way too long so I’m gonna colorcode parts of it so you can read it easy if you want

Now the obvious first answer is Blake. But I think a villain Blake, even one who has I’ve said would be a horny shit poster would probably be racist to humans . I think that can be an interesting dynamic I think it would probably prevent her from ever admitting her feelings. Although that could be a fun dynamic between them each of them in a secret love with each other Blake, who is not willing to admit to Yang that she loves her because she’s a human .

Or alternatively, they do get together, and she must keep it secret from her white fang allies that she’s dating a human. I imagine the dynamic if I was ever to summit up would be kind of the relationship that dragon ball abridged, Bulma and Vegeta have.

And from yangs perspective she doesn’t want to get together with Blake either because she’s feels too dedicated to Ruby as a sister to have other relationships. Or she swears never to be hurt again by people leaving.(tai, Raven, and Summer). And realizing that she’s falling for the trap of either caring about someone who’s not her sister or someone for who’s not herself. makes her feel all kinds of weird emotions. 

And so the relationship is kind of a weird inversion of Yang and Blake’s relationship, which is based on trust, and their mutual belief they’ll be there for each other. Well, villain, Blake and villain Yang , clearly love each other. They cannot be honest with each other for fear of having the attachments around them in Blakes case(her connection to other anti-human Faunus ) and the ability to feel perfectly safe by not being close to anyone and yang case. prevent them from building the necessary foundation for any healthy relationships, both romantic and platonic.

The other relationship that I like for villain Yang is freezer burn, because the cruel sadistic leader of a banded organization is the perfect secret right hand for a aloof cold calculating businesswoman like a villain Weiss should be. 

although I wouldn’t call a villain freezer, burn relationship healthy, I think it would definitely last longer than a villain bumblebee relationship. And it’s mainly down to how they view each other in relationship yang views herself as an instrument for Weiss’s to use she kills her political opponents, breaks up strikes and helps her gain her rightful position as air to the SDC.

Weiss views yang as an extension of herself as a way to do the things that a prim and proper air to a giant company can’t do. A physical way to enact change she wants to in this way Yang is her rapier.

And yang who’s trying to not feel all the emotions that come with being abandoned, and being forced to raise your sister, is really eager to abandon all sense of self, and just become Weiss as weapon.

And that’s why I think their relationship would last longer although it’s just as toxic and maybe even more then villain bumblebee the codependency they foster on each other would keep them together longer. also for comparison, think of a version of cersei Jamie without the incest(although I know, saying, that’s removing a pretty big part of their story)

Unpopular RWBY Opinions

Some of these things are incorporated into my reimagined RWBY AU(not all of them) and my original stories

1. Arkos, BlackSun, Iceberg, and Renora should have survived and get a happy ending, I don’t give a damn about Pyrrha’s name or allusion.

2. RWBY didn’t have to be a super dark epic, it’s become pretentious. Maybe more akin to Star Wars or Justice League Unlimited

3. Adam should have just been an initial antagonist who doesn't commit super horrible things, the psycho abusive ex was melodramatic and dumb. Wether he joins the good guys or ends tragically is up to anybody.

4. Maybe we were better off without the Salem/Ozma conflict and have WTCH as individual arc villains with their own minions

5. I think Roman, Cinder, and their gang should have been just morally grey found family characters like Boba Fett, some kind of gang of thieves akin to those in Baccano or something and just help or hinder the cast like Team Rocket or something but not as silly. 

With Cinder and Roman becoming a couple and kinda like a "Gomez and Mortica" pair and Emerald and Merc hooking up, and Emerald and Neo would be like their daughters and Merc the son-in-law. I might recycle that idea for one of my original stories thats inspired by Skullgirls and Baccano who's protagonist sis something of an Anti-Cinder and an Anti-Torchwick with a ragtag gang fighting against a corrupt government run by a demonic-powered mafia.

6. Maybe RWBY could have been more like a Dragonball/Fairy Tail universe instead in terms of tone and narrative structure, and that wouldn’t have been a bad thing.

7. At the very least, Ozma and Salem could have been an explanation of the origin of the world and just something that would be rediscovered overtime and Ozpin and his circle are some keepers of ancient myth or something. Like The Jedi Order or The Time Lords or something idk.

8. Kinda feel Oscar wasn’t necessary, as much as I like him

Maybe the corrupt SDC and Bad Dad Jacques was also needless, maybe just one of the few good underdog companies in Atlas and Jack being initially a bit too hard on Weiss due to upholding the family’s honor and chivalry but means well and initial harsh nature involving his wife, a scientist who worked with Dr.Watts and Dr. Poldenia, being murdered at the hands of an anti-Faunus milita group and Watts having some role in it. Mostly because I'm just exhausted of the "Bad Dad" trope

10. Have Watts have a megacorporation and be the corrupt company in Atlas instead who’s responsible for their tech and uses unethical Faunus labor in his factories(even though in secret Watts just hates everybody) instead and have a bitter rivalry with Jacques and The SDC, especially due to Jack and Arthur’s personal history regarding Mrs.Schnee.

11. Hazel should have just been a Meta-Knight like character, a good guy but on nobody’s side with a grudge against Ozpin for understandable reasons, he has bear claw-like gauntlet weapons, and becomes a rival to Yang seeing his sister in her and is the “Papa Bear” to her “Goldilocks”

12. Bumbleby is a bad ship and it’s fandom are filled with bitter shrews who use it as representation despite how toxic it is.

13. Disagreeing with Monty’s vision isn’t inherently malicious.

14. I agree with @sytokun making Blake basically a Princess and have loving parents who are also influential was also dumb. Make her an Orphan with the WF/Team RWBY her found family instead. Or I would at least give her a “dead dad” with her Mom living in Menagerie but not as a “Chieftess” aka a QUEEN. They called themselves Cheiftan and Chieftess because it sounded cute.

Rwby Au: A Sly cooper thing but But Jaune is the Leader and Theif,Nora the Muscule and Driver, and Ruby as the Inventer and Hacker. They would have different Relationships than the Sly cooper gang. Like Nora x Jaune. I think Ruby should date the main detective after them. I think Penny would be neat. Weiss would work better probably. I don't know just a knee jerk idea from my Nora's Arc ask. They would only steal from Crimials and Corrupted leaders though.

I like this idea, but I'd like to tweak it a bit.

So, I actually saw another RWBY Sly Cooper AU with Ruby and I think Winter having a Sly/Carmelita relationship, so I'll stick with Ruby as the leader of the Ruby Rose Gang.

Ruby Rose is the leader, as previously stated, and the inheritor of the Robber's Rose, an ancient and secret relic intended for Silver-Eyed Huntresses like her, even though there's a current propaganda war going on to abolish freelance huntsman work. Unfortunately, on the night she was supposed to inherit this relic, her home was attacked, and her mother perished in the altercation. But it's not all bad, since it's where she met her best friends, Jaune and Nora.

Jaune isn't an orphan, but is the son of the Arc Family Foster Home, and spent a lot of team helping Ruby with hard brain stuff, like math and physics, though a lot of the experiments were done with him going hands-on. That doesn't make his efforts to build and improve weapons any less impressive.

Nora is an orphan and has been since her village was destroyed years ago. The village leader, Li Ren, offered to raise her with his son, but their home wasn't big enough anymore to support four people, even if two were children. So she left and met Jaune, a kinda gutless dweeb who was picked on a lot. That all changed when Nora stepped in and showed just what "girl power" was really all about! Since then, the two have been thick as thieves, which is fitting since Ruby had some plans for when she left the Arcs.

Now, with introductions out of the way, I'd like to talk a bit about story, if anyone is interested. Going along with the story of the first game, Ruby breaks into Atlas Headquarters to find a lead on what's known as "The Inner Circle". It is during this venture that she meets Specialist Penny Polendina, who says it's her duty to stop freelancers like the Ruby Rose Gang. Hunting down and besting The Inner Circle, Ruby makes it to Salem, whom she must defeat by teaming up with Penny. The second game story will also be the same with a new group of villains trying to bring Salem back from the dead, ending in a fight that cripples Jaune, Nora blaming herself, and Ruby giving herself up to Specialist Polendina.

Some of the asks sent to @citadelofmythoughts had me musing on all those RWBY fanfic animation projects proclaiming to be rewrites.

Firstly, I am eternally vexed that there's so much energy and resources being spent on stuff that spins the wheels of Beacon forever or is basically the original series but with screenshots & also bad.

Like, can you not imagine how cool it would be to be having fan projects around "What of RWBY were dragon riders" or "What if RWBY were super heroes?" or "What if RWBY but older, Weiss never escaped Atlas, Blake's now a general in the White Fang, Ruby is Weiss's bodyguard & Yang's a WF double agent & also dating Blake" AU.

This is also why I don't take any real issue with that Qrow centric project as that at least exploring a less utilized character, new or rare locations and original story beats.

I am also suddenly reminded that ages back I full on considered trying to get a group together for a RWBY fan project. I can't recall the name now, but it was basically an ABRN-AU.

Or more, "Explore these side characters by making up backstories for them and giving them a fun little arc". In this case each got a color trailer and had a local villain in the form of a gang boss to beat cos some team members pissed them off.

But I didn't have the 3D skills then that I do now, or the time sadly & I imagine it might not have taken off anyway, but cest-la-vie.

As it is, I think there's a couple of reasons why this keeps happening.

Though, to be clear, I know some people who work on some of these and are both very nice and some do have people that really like the show making them, or who at least aren't RWDE levels of "CRTQ".

This is more talking about their general explosive number and scale compared to more original or challenging projects.

Firstly, on a pure production level it is easier long term to make a handful of fairly iconic set pieces and then have the characters just hang around there. As opposed to exploring, seeing new places, meeting new characters and doing new things. Almost like producing something at the scale of actual RWBY is really hard and expensive.

Secondly, even when people do like RWBY make these projects they have a vested interest in keeping it to pre V3/Pre-Fall era stuff. Reason being the RWDE crowd has proven time and again willing to throw money hand over fist and even dedicate hours upon hours of free labor to productions like this. As it provides tacit confirmation of their world view and serves as another bullet in their clunky ass gun that they fire off whenever they can cos apparently they've nothing better to do with their lives.

Third and finally its... I guess comforting? Familiar? Simpler perhaps? Even wen telling something more dramatic like Dust Queen, having a stable setting, no ticking clocks and a 'safe' locale for the heroes with supporting characters on hand but not needing to be present. It makes for easy watching...

It is rather like the 'Bat-Fam' Web Toon where everything is simpler and easier cos all the edges & potential complexities in the story, setting or cast got filed down. Maybe new one's were introduced but those are entirely in the authors control as opposed to leaving them grappling with canon.

That's just my take though.

Yes actually, before they were my top ship actually. Hell I've had maybe several AUs all depending on how they get together/when they get together/bits and pieces diverging from canon (Jaune as a lackey or Emerald is taken in AU sorta thing.)

As for HCs.... You didn't specify so I'll share the SFW ones. Also non-angsty ones.

Emerald absolutely loves cuddling / being held by him for warmth, guy is a certified heater

Emerald has been teaching Jaune "sleight-of-hand tricks" (pickpocketing) and lockpicking while he teaches her how to forge documents

Jaune cooks a lot and Emerald treats him like Weiss treats her cake butler, 'cept replace cake with any great meal really.

As a result I imagine Emerald gains a more plus sized figure once they retire/if they settle down from this whole Salem business, Jaune doesn't mind at all obviously.

Jaune has section of their home reserved for a model train set that Emerald likes to move the fake trees just enough that its not obvious but enough that it drives Jaune crazy.

Mercury is their roommate and sleeps on the couch, or with them if its MercXJauneXEm (what do you even call this, villain sandwich?)
