We started with sending our attendees out exclusive invites in the form of custom branded luggage's by @aidan.thebrand

Guests met at @barpatron_sydney for a quick breakfast & margarita followed by getting picked up in Rolls Royce by @iconiclimousines and taken to the airport to be greeted in a VIP Patrón lounge followed by a private hanger to the big unveil of a fully branded @falconairjet, branded Runway, Margarita Bar & Archway by @letlifesparkleevents all while sipping on margaritas.

We started our weekend off in Melbourne with a beautiful private dinner at @matilda159domain were guest had a tasting with @patron brand ambassador

Alex followed by a 4 course menu.

Our guest were up early to attending our Patrón Hacienda Experience to a stunning location 45 mins outside of Melbourne to a 3 piece Mariachi Band and beautiful ceremony by @sacredunvelling, they then dived into a taste of Mexico styled breakfast by @taquito.bar and free flowing Patrón Palomas before getting ready with @oscaroscarcamberwell and heading to the Patron Paddock at the F1 @ausgp.

Chapter 5: The Distant Plains (Section 1)

"...The marquesses of five of Caelin's neighboring territories, Laus, Tuscana, Kathelet, Tania, and Santaruz, have all confirmed that they have no intention of interfering with Caelin's affairs."

When Lyn quickly returned to Kathelet, she had no time to enjoy her reunion with Eliwood at the inn, immediately requesting his assistance.

The news of Lundgren spreading false information about an imposter seemed to have reached Eliwood already, as he had been worrying about her.

"Understood. I want you to leave it to me. I will live up to your expectations." He had said, and started to act right away. That effort all resulted in the marquesses sending the messages he had just now shared with Lyn. 

“Eliwood, I don't know what to say to thank you…"

Lyn said and started to bow, but Eliwood raised his hand to stop her.

"What I did is confirm they will not assist either side. Meaning that I did not do anything to help you. …Do you have a chance of victory?"

"...We will win. It is the only thing we can do to save Grandfather!"

Though the other marquesses would not send aid to their enemy, Lundgren did have command of the Caelin knights, while her army was just a small band of mercenaries. And two of their members, Ninian and Nils, couldn't fight at all.

But no matter how slim their chance of victory was, it was not zero. Lyn would not falter nor worry herself over minor details, she said loud and clear.

Seeing her expression cleared Eliwood of all his worries. 'If anyone can do it, it's her!'

She made him feel so strongly that her words actually gave him strength. "Understood! As your friend… I will be wishing for your victory."

"Thank you. Your kindness… we will not let it go to waste!"

Lyn's Legion parted ways with Eliwood, and rushed to Caelin.

Knowing that her grandfather Hausen might not even make it to see tomorrow, they had not a second to waste. They refused to take any time at all to rest, continuing on, and finally stepping foot within Caelin territory.

There was little difference left between them and Caelin Castle.

Pushing their tired bodies, they started to continue marching even further. 

But at that moment, Sain looked up at the sky and murmured, "The weather's getting bad. …Looks like fog is settling in."

When they looked closely, they could see that the sky was covered in gray clouds. It was the worst situation to be in now, of all times. 

The humidity also seemed to be rising, as the moisture in the air was causing them to break out in a cold sweat. 

Kent frowned. "This is bad. When the fog becomes thick, it will worsen our field of vision, and there is a chance that we will be unable to see any enemies."

"...But we already no longer have any time to waste. I want to get closer to the castle, even if only a little bit. Which route should we take?” Lyn argued.

Kent expressed his worries, but if they made decisions based on those concerns and hesitated to progress, then they would not arrive at their destination in time. 

“From where we are now… we must pass through General Eagler’s villa, which you can consider our final obstacle before we reach the castle. If we head west, then we should end up there. Lundgren appears to have information regarding our whereabouts, so there will likely be enemies hiding all around it.”

“Understood. Everyone, we will march west! I know you’re tired, but you can overcome it!”

They all nodded at Lyn's words of encouragement.

They had returned once more to Kathelet to get Eliwood’s help, then come back to Caelin on a very tight schedule. They had to be tired. There was no way they weren't.

Yet no one voiced a single complaint, not even the selfish and loud Serra.

Lyn was grateful to have happened to meet such good friends.

Just as the fog started to roll in, something that looked like a wall blocked their path.

“So you’ve come…”

But no, it was not a wall. 

It was a knight as giant as Dorcas and covered in a full suit of heavy armor. The muscular man was entirely bald; and his large eyes, peeking out from his thin eyebrows, were glaring at and assessing them.

“Gah…!” The moment Sain saw the man’s face, the color drained from his. It was clear that this person was someone he was not good at dealing with.  “You’re… Lord Wallace!”

“Kent, who is this?”

“He used to serve as the commander of the knights of Caelin.” Kent answered. 

“But he was supposed to have retired and should be tilling his fields now, right?”

Wallace grunted and nodded his head at Sain’s question, then began to explain, “That’s what my plan was. Then Lord Lundgren sent an order to the knights. To strike down the scoundrel named Lyndis!”

Kent was taken aback. “Even you doubt us?!”

“Bring me the girl named Lyndis before me.” He said, and took a step forward.

Sain, now on guard, stepped in front of Lyn. “...What are you going to do with her?”

“Depending on how she answers my questions, I will kill her here.”

“Then we cannot assist you.” Kent also stepped in front of her to protect and distance her from Wallace.

“I see. Then in that case…” He said, and pointed the tip of the iron lance in his hands towards Kent and Sain. The air between Wallace and the two knights shifted to become tense.

The moment the fight was about to start-

“Wait! It’s me! I am Lyndis!” Lyn stopped the two knights and walked up to Wallace.

“Oh-ho.” Wallace’s eyes widened, and he studied her up and down. 

Lyn stared back at him with a sincere gaze. “If you don’t believe us, then I am fine with that. Just stop acting like this and fighting between allies!” She shouted from the very bottom of her heart.

This fighting was happening because she had decided to meet her grandfather. If she had not done so, then Lundgren would not be targeting her, employing assassins, or spreading word of an imposter, and Wallace also might not have been called back to service.

But too much time had already passed, and she could no longer return to how things were before. There was no going back.

Because of that, Lyn could not waver in her decisions, nor could she regret any of them. But if allies who had both vowed their loyalty to Caelin had to fight because of her, then it would cause her great sorrow.

At Lyn’s desperate appeal, Wallace listened with a serious expression, but then it suddenly softened. “...Hmm. You have beautiful eyes.”

“Huh…?”

“During my thirty years as a knight, I learned one thing. Any person with such clear eyes is not a bad person. Feh ha ha ha ha ha, that’s enough, I think! I like you! I will fight with you.”

“A-Are you serious?”

“I, Wallace, have sworn my loyalty to Caelin. I would never allow anyone to harm a legitimate lord of my homeland! Let’s go!!” He declared without giving room for anyone else’s input, then left them behind and started walking south all on his own.

The person who made them think they would have to fight to the death just moments ago had now suddenly announced that he was their ally, and even started to charge alone without them into the enemy’s ranks.

Every single member of Lyn’s Legion was dumbfounded by his course of actions.

“L-Lord Wallace! …He’s the same as ever, isn’t he…” Sain sighed.

“But… he seems to be a good person.” Lyn said.

“Yes. He is someone you can respect.”

Everyone followed after him and started to march as well.

Matthew trudged through the milky white fog.

While he was unskilled at wielding a sword and fighting, he boasted exceptional skills in reconnaissance and gathering information invaluable to the battlefield. Even now, he was, at Lyn’s order, moving in to scout Eagler’s villa.

“Alright… The building I must target… is… Huh? What’s that?”

After he emerged from the thick forest, a giant building appeared before him. He couldn’t make out any specific details due to the fog hanging around it, but a large stone wall encircled the villa, and the sturdy stone building was so plain that it looked more like a citadel or fort. 

It had likely been built to be used as a frontline base in times of emergency.

“Whoa… It kinda looks like a castle. Hm?” Matthew picked up on the sound of encroaching footsteps, and instinctively hid in the shadow of a tree next to him.

He held his breath as a two horse carriage passed in front of him. Then, the carriage stopped in front of the gate to Eagler’s villa. The iron gate opened, allowing the horses inside the property.

‘...What’s going on?’ Matthew quieted his presence and neared the gate to investigate. In the gap in the door covered by iron bars, though the view was blurry, he could see inside. 

‘Is that man in the silver armor General Eagler?’

Past the thin, low fog, Matthew's eyes stopped on a knight wearing silver armor. He had a well-trimmed beard and a dignified face fit for a leader, but his current expression was one of pain. The people standing in front of him seemed to be the cause of that.

They were a boy who appeared to be only about ten years old, and snuggling up next to him was a pretty woman with an uneasy look on her face. Behind them was a well-built middle aged man, looking down with his eyebrows furrowed, wrinkling his forehead. One could feel regret coming from deep within him. And strangely, all three of them were tied up by chains around their arms.

“...eral Eagler, pl… ase.”

“Don’t… ry. …over… soon… …until… please…”

The well-built man pleaded with the knight, and the knight responded with something Matthew couldn’t quite make out. Finally, a soldier next to the carriage hurried them inside of it

'That must be… the general’s wife and child… and maybe a butler, or one of his soldiers? But why are they in chains… No!' As Matthew intently watched these events transpire, a thought ran through his mind.

Then, at that moment…

“Hey, you over there! Who are you!!”

“Oops! Someone found me!” He clicked his tongue at the soldier that appeared behind him, then ran off as quickly as he could. He had to do whatever it took to tell Lyn what he had just seen, and the answers he had inferred from it.

As the soldier chasing him lost sight of him, Matthew felt his blood truly boil. “Dammit, Lundgren…! How dare you resort to this!”

Our time at the Villa was winding down. Today was the last full day here. Jack and I decided to spend the last day in little local towns, spotting them on hilltops in the distance and heading that way. Our goal was to soak up as much this last day as possible. We went to Piccioli, Montecchio, and Palaia. Now, you may have never heard of these towns but they are so picturesque. They have the TINIEST cobblestone streets, and Jack gets very excited to discover these little streets that head uphill to some ancient church or duomo. However, we are driving a Volvo which is the biggest car in Italy. I was so furious at him for forging up really tiny roads- literally with an inch either side of the car- that at one point I got out. No good was going to come of this- either our rental car could get scraped or a 1,000 year old wall could be a chunk less fortified. But, all’s well that ends well–streets navigated, new quaint places found, no scratches on the car, walls and marriage safely preserved!

Now our last night at the Villa was going to be extra special: we invited the owner, Vittorio, and his family to dinner. It was a little weird asking them to come to dinner at their house, but we had so enjoyed their digs and we wanted to connect with them and possibly hear more stories about the villa. I thought Paola seemed a little extra nervous, knowing the owner/boss man would be there. They had to drive in from Florence so we were kinda surprised when they accepted our offer. We dressed up a bit and met Vittorio, his Austrian wife who speaks 5 languages, and kids ages 4 and 2. His stories revealed even more about the Villa: the chapel was used by Priests and Templars during the Crusades, there is a secret passage in the front hallway to the field below - either for wine storage or escape, they had so many dogs the stairs had stains from wagging tails, and during WW2 the townsfolk hid in the wine vats, vats so big several makeshift bunks could sleep 3 layers of people. We told him of our cellar discoveries on day 2, and yes, they still actually do make red wine now. And some olive oil. We thanked him for our experience at his old summer home and said goodbye. We were leaving a day early from the Villa, because we had dinner plans in Florence Friday night with Bob Patterson and wife, Gayley. Bob is a lawyer friend, who in his travels makes copious notes on hotels, restaurants, and places of interest. I’ve told him to just publish all his travel notes - we all could then use them as our personal guide book, his recommendations are always fantastic. It was he who hooked us up with the Villa in Montelopio in the first place. They were renting the Villa starting Saturday, the day we were supposed to leave. But we are having dinner with them in Fiesole (Florence) Friday night, so we are leaving the villa a day early to save on travel time. So on Friday we bid goodbye. We took pictures with Dubi, and Paola, and one last time looked around the great historic edifice we had called home for the last two weeks. It’d been a wonderful mini-family reunion. We got to spend time with Haylee and Currey, whom we never see. We got to chill with Alex and Isse, and watch their kids interact with foreigners with no English to help. Kendall got to relax before she crunches down for her step 2 med school test. Of course we so missed having Christian with us, it just wasn’t meant to be this time. Hopefully next time he can join us. And boy was I glad we got to Florence a day early. There was NO WAY, we could have maneuvered the Florence traffic in time to make our train Saturday at noon. Let me just say that when we got to Florence, Jack was a master at not wrecking. Here’s how bad it was: our hotel was right next to the train station, and we were two blocks away and it took us an hour to get there. Between the construction, the one way streets, no lanes marked, and CRAZY Italian drivers, we ended up in the pedestrian zone RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DUOMO. That’s right, there we were, the Waddey rental car driving through the midst of a zillion pedestrians in front of the Florence Duomo. Also, later, when we found the tiny 8 foot wide street where the car rental place was, it was one way, but we didn’t care, we saw the holy grail of car rental returns and we went the wrong way on that one way street just to get that darn car turned in safe and sound. Between yesterday’s fury at Jack driving up those tiny streets and today’s Duomo fiasco, I was so relieved to turn those Volvo keys over to their rightful owner ! I’m sure the Italian police will be in touch.

The night ended with an Patrón exclusive afterparty at the @qmelbourne Rooftop.
