did you know that if you unlock a secret skill (entering the mindset that they're a real, announced couple) watching Dan and Phil videos is actually almost bearable? the more you know

Bit of a (late) long-ass personal post, but this past year has been insanely monumental for me and a lot of it, if not almost all of it, was centered around this silly comedy show.
Starting the year adopting the most perfect cat in the world purely because he looked like Agent Jack Bauer, I've ended up meeting amazing people and making great friendships, both online and in person, I met Glenn and Charlie and MEE and Meg (and Humphrey) and Danny?? got my first tattoo, bought way too much whiskey, and I've just really, genuinely enjoyed my time posting on Tumblr, making shit, and writing fic more than I have in half a decade. It's stupid, and sappy, and probably pretty parasocial, but I owe so many of my best experiences this past year not only to the show, but to joining this community. Because I wouldn't have experienced much of any of this if I hadn't jumped the casual fan on r/IASIP ship and washed up ashore here. And being here has improved my life and my mental health in ways I can't even begin to properly express.
So here's a photo dump of what I have to dub "A Very Sunny 2023":
To everyone here, thank you for being a part of my 2023. I'm not sure what 2024 has in store, but I'm happy I'll be here, creating and experiencing whatever it is, through and beyond.

i want to play video game but i specifically want to play the kind where you are a little pixelated man running through a Location and it is all viewed like an egyptian mural so like. you see everything from the side? you know what i mean? and its very simple you jump over things and dodge things and look for doors and thing s. im not explaining myself well but i want the retro-est little dungeon imaginable that to me is the platonic ideal of Video Game and i dont know how to find him and play him . but if i were to get into video game at this late stage in my youth that's how i would start doing it

not a big update, just some cool stuff i wanted to share 😎
so a month ago i started learning coding and i'm still in the beginner stages (primarily focus on HTML, CSS, javascript, a bit of python and react) and today i made my first browser point & shoot game :)
it's not fancy or polished but that's kinda the point - just me following a tutorial to see what i can do and prove to myself that i can. the background is mine, the bird sprites are taken from said tutorial, so you're welcome to take a look (and even post your highest score in the tags, who knows) -- my own record is in the 600s.

probably my most evil trait is being seethingly jealous of people who naturally pick up lots of languages quickly and can interact with other countries and cultures on a intimate level because of it

will not explain the context but i get mistaken for a trans woman 50% of the time to the point trans coworkers ask how my "transition" is going, but shy away once they realize we're not coming from the same background. I love all my trans sisters, but it is such a broad scope and doesn't ever make womanhood easier become someone else is more grateful for it. Womanhood is either neutral and genetic, or oppressed and social, and I don't know how to live that down. And I don't think my trans coworkers who I go out to coffee with everyday, do either.
if you want to talk about this off anon i'm more than happy to, but i will just say that it feels very weird that you would send this in response to me making a post about trans women helping me feel more comfortable in my gender and who i am

All the same week: early access to Hades 2 opens, I get access to a library copy of Those Beyond the Wall, Hacks new season drops, and my brother finally picks up BG3 after months of badgering and gets instantly obsessed and we start a multiplayer run.
And literally all of my coworkers are out and I’m handling 6 employees’ tasks this whole week.
At least my sleep schedule was already broken man 😂

the thing about sports documentaries is that they have to appeal to such a broad mass of people. you need to have enough detailed insight that it feels worth it for fans who spend their every waking moment thinking about the sport/team/player while also being general enough that someone who doesn't know the first thing about the sport doesn't get so confused they turn off. and that's why i think they need 2 versions of any sports documentary. one where it's all surface level, here's the basic rules and people kind of documentary, and another where you get to hear the exact kind of bitchy gossip athletes are talking about while eating their lunch

See you in six weeks after you've finished TOTK <3!
literally in my sleep deprived slightly-reduced-anxiety haze earlier today i just went "oh my god okay this is getting out of hand i have to do it. i have to get over it and simply Stop being scared and self isolating and all my issues will be solved" (unlikely to happen in my current state but love the optimism) only to realise only 2 seconds later that even if i theoretically DID just start throwing out DMs left and right my chances of a) remembering to respond b) getting a response from people at all are stupid low right now because not just me but (almost) everyone and their mother is currently marathoning The Legend Of Zelda: Vehicular Manslaughter/j
like i have no idea how i didnt see this coming. ill prolly give it a few days. for my sake as well as some others' ksdjJD
