“I did it!” You slightly furrow your eyebrows at the text message your boyfriend sent you before clicking onto the link that he sent. It was a 2 minute interview that he did while at one of the premieres for his hunger games movie.
Tom looked insanely good in his tailored suit, exuding confidence as he engages with the interviewer. Cameras flashed around him, capturing the glamour of the event, and you couldn’t help but smile, feeling a sense of pride for your boyfriend.
The interviewer, a charismatic host with an air of familiarity, turns his attention to Tom, eager to delve into the behind-the-scenes of the blockbuster. “Tom, how was the filming process for ‘The Hunger Games’?” She’s asks, a glint of curiosity in her eyes.
Tom smiles, his eyes gleaming with enthusiasm. “Oh, it was fantastic. The whole cast and crew brought so much energy to the project. But what made it truly special was having my family here. They visited during filming, and even my girlfriend, who took some time off uni to be with me. I greatly appreciated that.”
Your heart swells with warmth at his words. Tom, ever the supportive partner, acknowledges your sacrifice and commitment to being by his side during this whirlwind experience.
Your 2 months in Berlin with Tom was a great opportunity to take a break from all your uni work, and of course, spend some much needed time with your boyfriend. The revelation that he has a girlfriend elicits a gasp from the woman interviewing him.
That video goes viral on the internet. With Tom’s fans searching the internet for anything that could lead them to finding out who Tom’s girlfriend is.
With hard digging, fans discover your insta page. Your posts containing photos of your life as a law student at Yale and fans were pleasantly surprised to find never seen before photos of Tom that you’ve posted.

playing pinterest roulette and seeing what AUs i can make up based on the pics (part 2 of ???)
landoscar AU where oscar's a chess prodigy, best that the game has seen in generations, and lando is one of the world's most in-demand DJs.
oscar is as introverted as they come. determined to draw him out of his shell, oscar's friends drag him out for a new year's eve rave in berlin, one of the rare weeks that he has off. oscar, a little too drunk and maybe a bit socially anxious, nitpicks the BPMs on a song transition that Lando is trying out that night. people spot both of them standing at the DJ booth, yelling at each across the music.
they almost end up fighting, but after the countdown they end up making out in a bathroom stall and going semi-viral on social media instead. oscar panics about the implications but his PR manager tells him it's probably a good thing because it makes oscar seem more relatable. lando's PR manager sends a shrug emoji, being the person who blasted the video out in the first place.
oscar and lando decide they might as well lean into it. they end up hanging out the day after for pizza. which then rolls into another weekend, then more texts, an insane connection neither of them can't quite give a name to, and a promise to keep in touch when the holiday's over (which doesn't quite happen because they're young guns on the come-up, with the busy schedules that entails).
they don't end up meeting again in berlin, until three years later. at the pizza place where they'd hit it off. the pizza's still good. and the company, more so.
oscar opens with: "it can't be true that you wrote a damn song about me."
lando only smiles at him across the table. "and i heard the FIDE wondered why you named your new move the Norris."

A Far Out Look at Gaby Teller's Costumes in the Man from U.N.C.L.E.
The fashion in this movie is amazing, let's talk about specifically what Gaby is wearing and what it tells us about her character.
We meet Gaby working as a mechanic in East Berlin. So obviously the this the least put-together we ever see her. I couldn't get a good picture of her jumpsuit but it seems pretty standard. The scarf in her hair is rather fashionable, hinting at what is to come.
Female representation: 10/10 It looks mostly like what a real mechanic would wear, with nothing to emphasize that she is a female mechanic (other than her nice scarf).
Practicality: 10/10 Presumably the most practical thing we see anyone wear in this movie
This is one of the dresses she tries on while getting under cover. I wish we had gotten more of a montage of her different outfits but this one is pretty fun. It is a vast improvement over the one Solo had her wear first. The orange coordinates with what she wears in the climax, which is fun. And perhaps a nod to the fact that she is playing a part here as much as she will be then.
The dresses she wears going forward are all of the same style, chosen to be both 60s and modern. Watch this video by Cinema Cities for more on the choices made for the costuming. As is discussed there, the choices for Gaby are young and fresh, with bright colors. Geometric patterns, mod shape, an emphasis on legs instead of the hourglass. She stands out from the other leading lady, whose costuming is very complex - doing the most with her hair, make-up, accessories. Gaby, on the other hand, tends to wear earrings and a ring or a bracelet.
Female representation: 10/10 She looks fantastic, even for this short scene in the boutique, and is a spy being outfitted to go undercover. This scene establishes what her style is without deciding to ogle her at any point.
Practicality: 9/10 Compared to the jumpsuit, it's obviously less practical but it's pretty great in general.
Now undercover in Rome, Gaby wears a white dress with an overcoat that we also see worn with the other dresses. Both are very stylish and fit the silhouette that was popular in the 60s. As far as being fully white goes, that makes sense for a scene in which she is out for a walk with her assigned fiancé, making sure that their cover is convincing (even when they are mugged). White emphasizes her status as a pawn in the game right now (as does the shape of the outfit), as well as implying a woman in need of rescue. It is effective way to trick both their marks and her fellow spies into considering her to be helpless.
Female representation: 10/10 Still fantastic, gonna break my rating system. She looks good but is not eye-candy despite her role in the film.
Practicality: 9/10 The coat doesn't seem especially warm but the ensemble is certainly practical for what she is doing.
She wears this dress to the races, including a large hat, to meet with Uncle Rudi as well as Alexander Vinciguerra. It is her first job as a spy and this dress reflects that. Instead of pure white, most of it is green, a color generally associated with duplicity (like a snake). The scene includes Gaby doing quite a bit of angling to move the mission forward, which involves playing up what Solo and Kuryakin believe she is there to do as well as her own agenda, so while she isn't exactly a double agent, she is certainly deep in the plot.
Female representation: 10/10 These are all great, what can I say?
Practicality: 9/10 As above, perhaps not as useful as her jumpsuit, especially considering she does work on a car in this scene. But it certainly serves her purposes.
I couldn't find a photo, but I couldn't leave out her charming pajamas. She wears these in two scenes with Illya Kuryakin, when they are hanging out in their hotel room. The first night, she insists he dance with her and the second night she appears to betray him. So the outfit itself is mostly grey, since we can't be sure what her motivation is (until later in the movie). Plus they look like great pajamas, especially for being undercover and having to share a room with a stranger.
Female representation: 10/10 Some of the best pajamas I've seen a lady wear on film, especially for a spy movie.
Practicality: 10/10 They seem to be very practical, especially for wrestling.
And here is the showstopper. Gaby wears this for the climax of the film, through a lot of twists and turns. It is the same silhouette as the others, though the neckline is a bit more formal. Following the theme of the last dress, she started in white and now appears to have added a lot of cover on top of the white. The pattern is also reminiscent of camouflage. This makes sense because now is when her status as an agent all along is revealed, as she appears to betray first Kuryakin and Solo and then deceives the Vinciguerras along with her father. Again, she has minimal accessories in contrast to Victoria and she sets herself apart from everyone else in this outfit as she does so in the movie as well.
Female representation: 10/10 For a double-agent and/or damsel in distress, she is very well dressed indeed
Practicality: 9/10 It works well enough but I'm sure she wishes she had something else to wear when they are going off road through the rain.
The final shot, where the team is now put all together. The show features just the gentlemen and it's great to have her be at the center (the lack of a sequel is devastating). She is back to wearing a white dress, now that her true role in the story has been revealed and she made a significant contribution to the cause in the process.
Female representation: 10/10 Again, it is fantastic, especially for the female member of the spy team
Practicality: 9/10 Same as the others, I daresay

Artschool Dropout
I made a thread about how and why I became an artschool dropout, and want to share it here too. Storytime! It's mainly a highlight of parts I despite in the art worlds; capitalism and superiority. My experience was affected by the environment, and hell was a bad environment
Back in the distance year of 2019 I went to an(community) art college in like the *fancy* part of my area. I lived across the lake on the countryside, so I was not prepared for this environment. Rich people cosplaying poor is the best description. Fancy clothing made to look dirty and no-one wore shoes. It was very networking-vibe, with "omg we HAVE to talk more later" but never doing so. Like nurses energy. To be fair I became more and more non-approachable as time went on.
A good note is that Swedish education is normally free, even uni degrees, but this one cost money. It was that was never addressed or mentioned when I applied; that's on me maybe, but the few friends I had didn't know either. A lot was beaten around the bush when it came to expenses. A big draw for the school was a trip they made to Berlin during a film festival. Once the time came around they mentioned the cost for the trip (which was not mentioned before, I thought it was included) and kinda of shamed people if they wouldn't pay and go. Saying how its a highlight of the education and the few staying behind just watch movies for a week. In addition, the film festival wasn't included in the price, and we would have to pay extra to go. It was supposed to be a week, but two days was for travelling by train.
The price was something I would rather use for a private Berlin trip. It wasn't a lot, but I refused to do it, mainly for how indirect they were with everything. A friend and I said we wouldn't go and a staff complained how they would have to keep the school open just for us.
My classmates weren't an issue, it was the teachers and system, which all just felt like a money laundering scheme. One day we travelled to Stockholm, and we were tasked to go four hours alone, sit and stare at an object and think what it made is feel. Those were the instructions.
Four hours. Alone. Then home.
I and one other instead went to grab a coffee and trash talk. Once the time was up, I just made up on the spot "what it made me feel" and he gave me a job well done. I understand the assignment, but the execution from the teacher was all wrong.
It wasn't my crowd tho, I came from a gaming development High school while these people were like, social studies. I'm used to a nerdy crowd, is what I'm trying to say.
I have two funny examples:
I was talking to some guy during a break the ice get together with the whole school (very small school) and I explained I studied video game development before, and he said "omg that's so cool!!" And I answered, "yeah! Do you play?" And he said "yes, the piano :)"
And other time we were talking about painters, and when they asked me who my favourite was, I thought I would joke and said "oh, donatello :) because I love purple" and NO ONE got my tmnt ref and instead thought some Italian Renaissance was my favourite artist.
But back to the main issue, it was the school: First day our teacher handed us supplies from a closet and I was like "wow! Thank you! When these run out (BECAUSE WE'RE FKN ARTISTS) can we grab new ones in the closet?" And she said "no :) this is for the two years you are here" Like eight different hardness pens and a block of paper.
My worse experience was that every Tuesday was lecture day (although we didn't have grades nor exams) and all students gathered in a dark room to look at a PowerPoint about culture and people.
Fun in theory, but again executed so badly. My last lecture one teacher said "oh, and we gotten complaint not everyone can take notes during the presentation, so we thought one from each class could take notes and share with everyone else later :)! Any volunteer?"
Like ??? What? I raised my hand and said "you have a PowerPoint there? Why can't just share the presentation with everyone if they want to go back later?" AND SHE ANSWERED "that is a great idea, but unfortunately that would take weeks. So this is a better alternative:)"
TO THIS DAY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT SHE MEANT BY THAT
Smaller details ; expensive lunch, creepy teacher keeping images of women's privates on screen (and I'm an artist I don't mind nudity) pointless activities and little progression. I can't give it a fair judgement, I only lasted three weeks but jumped in the opportunity to leave.
Cherry on top was I had communicated in private with my mentor about quitting and the day it was decided I had to go back to get my stuff and have one last day and the teacher (not my mentor) exclaimed in the shadiest way "Sophie? I thought you quit" I hadn't told my friends yet.
Last day I replaced all my supplies with new from the fancy closet, and me and my friends stole coffee from the cafeteria during lunch (it was only included if you bought food) to celebrate my time. We all hated the system of the school, but all of us loved art.
My experience is mainly the environment the school was located in; upper-class pretending not to be. The people were alright and i got a few friends before quitting. It was also traditional, general art when I prefer digital art. The school, system, and teacher were hell, which is a shame because it took something I loved and turned it into all the things I hate. i don't regret going and I don't regret quitting when I did. Best thing to come out of it was my literal label Artschool Dropout

Since I have seen some assumptions about different girls and who’s box their are seated in, I thought I try to clear this up with some inside information: (before you ask how I know this: Toni Kroos has a podcast with his brother Felix where this was mentioned; more info about that at the end)
Real Madrid (or more accurately the Santiago Bernabéu) does not have specific players boxes. They however have two different VIP sections,
1. the “normal” VIP section for which you could technically also purchase tickets as a fan (if you’ve got the money). This is probably the area where the people invited by the club (Rafael Nadal, Tom Brady maybe, etc.) sit as well, if they are not in the “president lounge” as I like to call it.
2. the so called “VIP familiar” where families and friends of the players sit. It’s a section of the stadium I assume you can only get in via direct invite from someone inside the club (players, coaches, etc.). During the podcast episode Felix mentiones seeing some kids and wifes (Joselu and Modric if I remember correctly) but also Denise Bellingham (Jude’s mother) walking by.
This doesn’t mean that players can’t get their friends/hookups/girls tickets for normal fan seats in the stadium. Felix Kroos himself has been given tickets to the media/press section, the “normal” VIP and the VIP familiar, as well as the normal seats. All of Felix’s visits to the Bernabéu were organised by Toni himself.
——————
More info about the podcast: it’s weekly published in german. Felix Kroos is a retired football player himself, who played for german clubs like Union Berlin and Werder Bremen. Nowadays he mostly works as a (very likeable) TV pundit. In the normal episodes they mostly talk about football (or the Dallas Mavericks since they are both huge fans) but also invite guests (David Alaba, Dirk Nowitzki or Julian Nagelsmann just to name a few) and answer fan questions about literally everything (from ‘gossip on the bench during a game’ to planning on keeping turtles as pets in my spacy backyard if it’s ever finished and not a construction side forever’ (aka the worries of Toni Kroos))
Sometimes there are special episodes, where Felix and Tobi (their producer and good friend) attend “special” Real Madrid games. For example the Derby Madrileño or UCL games, especially the ones in Germany vs Union Berlin and RB Leipzig, but also the City game in Manchester.
Felix and Tobi however were also at the Santiago Bernabéu for the home clasico this season (23/24) where they were seated in the VIP familiar for the first time and made the observations mentioned above. For anyone interested the episode is called “Luppen in Tour: Die große Toni Kroos Post-El-Calsico Home Story (mit Hut)”. Disclaimer: it’s in german!
For everyone else you can find some video extracts from the podcast (also in german, without subtitles) and some very funny videos of Toni on @luppentv on Instagram.
——————
Regardless I personally still think that if these guys (the Real Madrid players) are serious about a girl they are gonna seat her in the “VIP familiar” section, if it’s simply a hook up it’s at most probably gonna be the “public” VIP section if not just regular game tickets (although Felix mentioned in past episodes that when they had regular seats, they were higher up with a perfect view of the pitch (unlike Laura for example)).
Hope this is some kind of valuable input, and I wish all of you a lovely day 💕
thank you for the info!

So, according to The Act Man’s latest video, the Starfield pronoun controversy is basically like the Doom Eternal “mortally challenged” controversy. Because both are over nothing.
I disagree.
The “mortally challenged” joke was satire. Specifically, of how corporations try to look good while they’re doing bad things. Often by latching on to trends and buzzwords.
It also continues the theme from Doom 2016, where the running gag was “this corporation is a bunch of stereotypical evil cultists, but also a stereotypical corporation”.
The Starfield thing is just using trends and buzzwords unironically.*
The only people who should be offended at the Doom joke are the exact target audience of such corporate newspeak. Like this article on GameRevolution that seethes about the “alt-right” because the writer doesn’t like the idea that anyone ostensibly progressive could be wrong.
A more sensible progressive would say “heh, yeah, companies totally do that.”
Haven’t lots of pro-LGBT people been complaining about “rainbow capitalism” for the past few Pride months?
Also:
Imagine being so wrong that a vocally pro-SocJus subreddit disagrees with you.
Also, from Googling, I gather the impression that a lot of pro-SocJus folks went “nobody’s mad! Nobody’s mad! This “outage” is just manufactured by the conservatives!”
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/241065-doom-eternal/78526435?page=2
https://www.reddit.com/r/Doom/comments/9gfwwv/id_software_when_the_mortally_challenged_joke/
Which sounds an awful lot like what happened with Hogwarts Legacy. Bunch of progressive randos (mostly) got a bit tilted, then a bunch of people on the same political team tried to downplay the outrage, while some other progressives went “stop it, you idiots! This isn’t helping!”
Also, please note that HeelVsBabyFace’s video in the tweet is saying “bullying people because they play a crimethink game is wrong” (which is correct!). IIRC, his personal stance on Starfield was that he, personally, wasn’t playing it. He wasn’t remotely saying harassment is a good idea.
The “hypocrisy” is just...complaining.
* Personally, I think we’ve reached a point where using pronouns makes someone trans less likely to pass, especially if they also have a trans flag in their bio and/or avatar. Pronouns now serve as a marker of ingroup status more than their stated purpose, and I’m not sure they were good at that in the first place.
Similarly, COD Black Ops Cold War also did the pronoun thing, and complete strangers would somehow use the correct they/them pronouns for an undercover CIA agent. In Berlin in the 80s. Not exactly progressive. Not exactly low-key.
Not exactly logical.

It's me butterfly kisses (GINASFS) anon again, with too much time on my hands! now that more show videos from EU/UK leg have surfaced, I've done the final tally on the Butterfly kisses line and it's head canon for me now.
Patrick sang 'butterfly kisses' SIX out of SEVEN times. They played it at 7 shows and the ONLY show he went with the 'photo proofed' line was the last show in Berlin.
There's just something I love so much about it, there's always lots of talk about him singing the friction in his/your jeans line, but I rarely catch that swap in live performances. This one he does way more frequently than the actual documented lyric. I think previously you had wondered how it sounds in the album version, and it's pretty clearly the 'photo-proofed' line on the album.
I love that it seems like almost a permanent change (maybe it's head canon for patrick too haha) its a much sweeter lyrics that fits the song better.
Okay, first of all, this is the kind of data I am here for, thank you for your service.
And this data is important and interesting data! Clearly Patrick's got the "butterfly kisses" thing stuck in his head and that does seem to indicate that he really, really thinks that's how the song should go for some reason. It's also interesting to me that the only show he got it right for was the last show. Did someone (Pete?) finally tell him he's been getting it wrong???? Like, why the correction so late in the game??
Finally, I would welcome any date on the your/his jeans thing, although it seems to me like Patrick more often slurs the line so you can hear it either way. In the way that Pete is an expert at putting multiple interpretations into a written phrase, Patrick is an expert at putting multiple interpretations in a sung phrase lol.

15 questions for 15 friends
@pushingsian tagged me - thank you!
ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?: My mother's best friend growing up, but that name happened to coincide with my grandmother's middle name, so it woked out. My middle name is my great-grandma's.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?: Two days ago, thinking about an angsty scene in a fic I haven't written yet. That happens a lot.
DO YOU HAVE KIDS?: Dear gods no. I have never wanted them and have less than zero parental instincts so that's probably for the best. I'm of the opinion that unless you are 110% eager to be a parent it's something you should skip because no child deserves to be unwanted.
WHAT SPORTS DO YOU PLAY/HAVE YOU PLAYED?: I used to row at a pretty high level, which wrecked my back, and rugby, which wrecked one of my ankles, so now I enjoy bouldering and wing chun because they're both good exercise while also being a mental workout too.
DO YOU USE SARCASM?: Sarcasm is my native language.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE ABOUT PEOPLE?: Mostly how tall they are, I guess. I'm oblivious to most things.
WHAT'S YOUR EYE COLOUR?: A weird mix of green, grey, and hazel depending on the light.
SCARY MOVIES OR HAPPY ENDINGS?: I'm terrible with scary movies, my imagination runs away with me, so I choose happy endings.
ANY TALENTS?: When I was a kid I was uncannily good at spotting money on the pavement, and I'm pretty good at spotting and identifying birds. Apart from that, Id call myself a good cook and a good writer.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN?: Berlin.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?: Does wishing I didn't have to work count? If I didn't have to work, I'd spend all my time gardening, cooking, writing, reading, and playing video games. Also DnD now!
DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS?: I don't, and I keep going back and forth on whether I want dogs.
HOW TALL ARE YOU?: 5'7.5" (the .5 is important)
FAVOURITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL?: It's easier to say that Music was my least favourite because it was my worst subject, but I enjoyed Art, English, and Latin.
DREAM JOB?: I'd like garden design if not for the need to budget and follow idiotic briefs, or maybe a kept artist, or something in wildlife conservation. I used to want to be a smallholder but I've realised I don't really have the energy for that.
Passing this on to, no pressure! @gingerbreton @serenpedac @briannasroger @lalizah @mutantenfisch @choccy-zefirka @theluckywizard @hervissa @librarianoftheclayr @leafthi3f @bluekaddis @naiatabris @agentnatesewell @pepperpatrol @molliehaswords

Article on Rammstein/Flake - Berliner Zeitung 2023-03-18
author:Martin Schuler
attempt at translation
A spoonful of sugar in the goulash: Rammstein and Flake's special role in the band
Why are Rammstein the most misunderstood band in the country? What does their music actually want and what is the special part keyboardist Flake plays?
There is no band in this country over which German article-writers have broken their pen with such force as Rammstein. Shortly after the band was founded in 1994, journalists shot poisoned darts at the targets they had identified. Since then, their chain of arguments has been as follows: the sextet not only uses National Socialist stylistics, but also stands accordingly in the intellectual tradition of fascism.
Aesthetic parallels were found in abundance: On the one hand, there was the mechanical opulence of the stage design. Secondly, there is the pathos that shakes marrow and bones that accompanies it. Other points in the indictment list authoritative poses, hypermasculine behavior and singer Till Lindemann's frenetically rolled "R". His band colleague and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz once told the music magazine Rolling Stone that the people in the GDR had taken the mentality with them to the unified Germany to take bad criticism from the press as recognition: "As long as media like 'Stern' or 'Spiegel ' hate us, the world is okay."
Rammstein never really understood the discourses about supposedly right-wing tendencies. The basic attitude of the band was that they grew up as punks and goths; on the other hand, with Nazis there were fights in their youth. In fact, Rammstein made decisions in the past that were grist to the mill of their primarily West German opponents. For example, a music video for the cover song "Stripped" released in 1998 contained material by Leni Riefenstahl - the director who once staged Hitler's ideology with her propaganda films. Rammstein admitted their mistake.
Pleasure in provocation: Rammstein and right-wing extremism
They wanted to put an end to the media accusations shortly after the turn of the millennium. On the piece "Links 2 3 4" published in 2001 it says frankly: "You want my heart in the right place / But then I look down / It beats to the left / Left, two, three, four". The refrain missed the desired signal effect. To this day, a wide variety of newspapers print comments on their culture pages that declare Rammstein to be 'undesirable formation'. It must not be forgotten that those mechanisms have always been helpful to the band's outrageous success.
The Rammstein musicians enjoy the provocation, and anyone who sows an affront will reap indignation. It's all part of the game, Rammstein are aware of that. But there is an essential difference, whether the writing guild calls the group a fright of the citizens or declares it to be a right-wing extremist. Anyone who postulates the latter should be really sure and otherwise remain quiet. The roots of Rammstein's theatrical style and larger-than-life staging can be traced back to the 1930s. That is indisputable. What many journalists all too often overlook, on the other hand, is the deliberately caricaturing portrayal of brute nationalism. Perhaps because people in Germany can't stand the satirization of their own dark history, they overlook the deliberate exaggeration stumbles over false floors and misjudges breaks in the martial performance. At this point it should be mentioned that in other parts of the world people have far fewer problems recognizing Rammstein's staged acts as such.
Counterpoint within Rammstein: the keyboard player Flake
Rammstein keyboardist Flake Lorenz also embodies a counterweight to the rock-solid male figures. His slim stature and glasses give him a certain fragility, they ironically contrast the rest of the band. In his role as an oddball, it's up to him to relax the robot-like choreography with bizarre interludes. The keyboarder has been rowing a rubber boat over the audience since the late 1990s. Also, as a comic character on the show, he has already stewed in a saucepan and been doused with molten metal in a bathtub.
Long before all this circus, there was Feeling B. In 1994, Rammstein emerged from that East Berlin fun punk group, only Flake Lorenz took his time with his "conversion" to Rammstein. The riffs were too blunt for him, the aura was too severe. According to Rammstein guitarist Paul Landers, it took a lot of convincing, but the young band didn't get tired of getting on their knees. They needed a person who countered them: "If Rammstein is goulash, then you have to put a spoonful of sugar in it so that the goulash tastes good," said Landers at the end of the nineties.
Diabolical but democratic: the East Berlin band Rammstein
To stay with the image: the metaphorical sugar as a counterpart to the acidity of the tomato did not fail to have an effect, the recipe tasted good on all continents. Only a few years after their founding, Rammstein were about to bring the 'Neue Deutsche Härte' genre they had cultivated into the world. The basic musical plan: Fast, American and distorted heavy metal guitars, the drums thrash a Teutonic four-four time. Flake Lorenz's playing on the keyboard loosens up the seemingly diabolical and, in itself, simple sound construction. In the production, he is also responsible for the samples, the choirs and strings, thus transporting Rammstein into the world of pop - just think of "Engel", one of their most prominent songs.
Incidentally, Rammstein make each of their decisions after a democratic majority vote, all votes carry the same weight. Even Lindemann's lyrics are up for debate within the band before each album. Drummer Christoph Schneider once described his band as a creature that can only grow up when all six members are together. The musicians are divided, especially with regard to the question of how much circus a rock band can actually take. For Lindemann, sparkles and flames are an essential part, others sometimes see the music pushed too far into the background.
Calculated taboo breaking: Rammstein and the evil topics
Throughout their career, Rammstein has broken countless social taboos: BDSM, incest, abuse, drug use, pyromania, necrophilia, cannibalism, voyeurism and sex tourism. They have negotiated all these topics on their eight studio albums in almost three decades. The fact that Lindemann mostly writes in the first person gives his stories a frontal immediacy. Of course that polarizes and it's obviously too much for some people. In March 2019, Rammstein released the single "Deutschland". According to old practice, they shocked in advance with a thirty-second snippet.
It shows the band members disguised as concentration camp inmates being led to the gallows - the spiral of outrage continued as usual. Finally, the nine-minute monument from a music video appeared, and with it the treatise on the atrocities of German history. Rammstein didn't heroize, they bluntly flaunted this country's DNA. The lines cannot – they must – be read as an unmistakable positioning: “Germany! Your love is a curse and a blessing! Germany! I can't give you my love.” Here lies the heart of the matter: Rammstein have always revealed the destructive power inherent in our German nature. Let's learn to keep the demons at bay!

I just want you to know that I tried answering this ask 4 separate times and it deleted each time, so with that said, here’s attempt 5 lol
2: song you like with a number in the title
The 3 R’s by Jack Johnson; I love me some Jack Johnson, and this one is really fun to sing!
5: a song that needs to be played LOUD
Start a Riot by Duckwrth and Shaboozey; this is from the Into the Spiderverse soundtrack, and it’s so fun to play it really loud on my headphones (safely!)
15: a song that is a cover by another artist
Take on Me by TheRealSullyG; this is Sully’s first otamatone cover, and it’s superbly done! For bonus points, check out his YouTube video of the cover which is a shot-for-shot remake of the original music video but with otamatones
19: a song that makes you think about life
Alpha by C418; I could write an essay about this song; I have such a clear vision of the emotional beats of this song it’s crazy. The tldr is that to me, this song feels like bittersweet memories and new beginnings. I play this song whenever I have big life changes coming up :)
29: a song you remember from your childhood
My Family by The Laurie Berliner Band; I was just talking about this song with my mom, and it’s so funny how much it still influences me lol. It used to play on nick jr when I was a kid, and to this day that’s how I remember how to spell family
