big cave post
you like caves? no? im showing you anyway. you hear cave and probably think of like, a video game cave. maybe a minecraft cave with axolotls? while i have my gripes with axolotls in caves, this is about the caves themselves. so here, lets get started:
number 1, lod cave in thailand. now, i could do a whole posts about JUST caves in thailand, but here's your first taste of caves from this area. this is a karst cave, formed by water trickling through soluble rock like limestone. it's what most of the caves on this list are going to be. it's one of the most common types of caves. if you've been inside a cave, it was probably a karst. very cool! i particularly enjoy the man shaped stalagmite in the middle (joke, thats just a real guy)
number 2, ellison's cave in georgia, usa. featuring a drop over a thousand feet deep, this one is pretty high on my bucket list. this is what's called a chute, formed by waterfalls cascading downwards. not recommended for people with a fear of heights! if you watch jacon geller, youve probably heard of this type of formation when he talked about krubera (not on this list, sadly)
number 3, mammoth cave in kentucky, usa. one i've been to! mammoth is the longest cave system in the ENTIRE world, that we know of. another one the jacob geller fans are familiar with. i would love to go back someday, pictures dont convey the magnitude of this place. they also used to host church services in here. well worth the visit
number 4, han son doong in vietnam. the LARGEST cave in the world! wait, didnt i already list that? nope, while mammoth is the longest and is massive in its own right, son doong trumps it by having a ceiling 660 feet (200 meters) high. it has stalagmites the size of skyscrapers. its one of the many caves in southeast asia to have its own rainforest system. a bit of a hike to get there, but another i desperately want to visit someday.
number 5, fingal's cave in scotland. though not record setting, its one youve probably seen before. or, maybe my perspective has been skewed as someone who looks at a LOT of caves. ive seen this exact picture more times than i can count. its a sea cave formed from our good friend columnar basalt. upon further research, apparently its also known for its natural acoustics. the more you know!
number 6, grotta azurra in capri. that photo isnt edited! only accessible by boat (and laying flat on your back to get through the entrance) this place looks ridiculously magical. i dont really have much to say about this one, i just think its really cool.
number 7, domica cave in slovakia. this one was brought to my attention by an anonymous asker (if youre still here hi) and i am in love with it. just an absolutely gorgeous cave with some of the most beautiful formations ive ever seen. just look at it! augh! the tiered pools arent something ive seen in any of the caves ive been to and theyre captivating. i love caves.
number 8, ending it off with a bang. here's the gloup.
#long post#caves#caverns#mammoth cave#fingal's cave#han son doong#lod cave#domica cave#grotta azurra#ellison's cave#im gonna add more info about the gloup i just thought it was funny like this#not edited i just did a quick reread

In the digital age, video content is a crucial component of effective marketing and communication strategies. For businesses and content creators, investing in a monthly video editing service is a smart way to ensure professional-quality videos consistently. However, to maximize the benefits of your video editor monthly subscription, it's essential to understand how to leverage this service effectively. This guide will provide practical tips to help you make the most of your video editing subscription, ensuring that you receive top-notch videos that resonate with your audience.
Define Your Goals and Objectives
Before you begin utilizing your monthly video editing service, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of your goals. Defining your objectives will help you communicate your vision more effectively to your video editor. By aligning your goals with your video editor's expertise, you can produce content that meets your specific needs and appeals to your target audience.
Organize Your Raw Footage and Assets
To make the most of your video editor monthly subscription, it's important to provide well-organized raw footage and assets. This includes video clips, images, logos, and any other elements you want to incorporate into your videos. Organizing your materials in advance not only saves time but also ensures that the editing process is smooth and efficient. It also helps the video editor understand your creative vision and preferences, leading to a more cohesive final product.
Communicate Clearly with Your Video Editor
Effective communication is key to a successful partnership with your video editing service. Provide clear and detailed instructions about your expectations, style preferences, and any specific requirements you may have. Share examples of videos you like and explain what you want to achieve with your content. The more information you provide, the better your video editor can tailor their work to match your vision. Plan Ahead for Consistency
One of the advantages of a monthly video editing service is the ability to produce consistent content. Consistency is key to building a recognizable brand and maintaining audience engagement. Plan your content calendar in advance and communicate your schedule with your video editor. This ensures that your videos are edited and ready for release on time, helping you maintain a steady flow of content.
Utilize Additional Services and Features
Many video editing services offer additional features, such as motion graphics, custom animations, and sound design. Explore these options to enhance your videos and make them more engaging. Using these extra features can set your content apart from the competition and provide a unique viewing experience for your audience. Don't hesitate to discuss these possibilities with your video editor to see how they can elevate your videos.
Analyze Performance and Optimize
After your videos are published, analyze their performance to understand what works and what doesn't. Use metrics like views, engagement, and conversion rates to assess the effectiveness of your content. Share these insights with your video editor to refine your approach for future projects. This continuous optimization process ensures that you are always improving and getting the most out of your video editor monthly subscription.
In conclusion, a monthly video editing service offers numerous benefits, from professional-quality videos to consistent content production. By defining your goals, organizing your assets, communicating clearly, and leveraging feedback, you can maximize the value of your subscription. Additionally, exploring additional services and continuously optimizing your content will help you stay ahead of the competition and achieve your desired results.

It was a late February, when I wrote this post. And now its May 1st.
In this February post I promised to tell about two ukranian documentaries, that shed a light on russian warcrimes. Since that, one of the docs, 20 days in Mariupol won the Oscar. Since than russia committed so much more. Yesterday they bombed Odessa, again, with ballistic missiles. The war is still going on. ________________________________________________________
20 days in Mariupol is a first documentary film of Pulitzer Prize-winning ukrainian journalist Mstyslav Chernov. Chernov have been a war photographer since the 2014 year, from the start of this war. He also documented Euromaidan protests. He was wounded couple of times during his work as war correspondent. In the last two years of full-scale war, I saw a lot of his potos, as I am involved in design process of Russian War Crimes exhibitions, that took place in Europe and USA. I saw this photos of dead civilians too many times. As a part of my job, I also designed (and curently also editing) a map of russian war crimes in Ukraine. By editing I mean constantly adding new places on the map (you can see the map on the site of the project).
I should mention, that I still cannot watch 20 days in Mariupol. I could not force myself to watch it in cinema, its too hard. I heard about Mariupol from my dear friend, who spent those 20 days there herself. I saw lots of video in the first month of invasion and they still terrifies me.
And its because of that horror, that I am trying to avoid - you should see it. You don't see films like that from russia, in which they would show you, how "Ukranian Nazis" destroyed Donetsk. Cause it never happened. After ten years of conflict, Donestk (which is the capital of one of the separatists quasi-state) is still there. Although russians claimed that we bombed it every day. And yet, it took them less then a month to turn Mariupol into ashes. And its been documented and even translated in real time, such is a nature of our media era. And yet the world missed it. But we should not forget it.
________________________________________________________
The second documentary is Intercepted. The film consist of telephone conversations intercepted in 2022 by the Ukrainian Secret Service between russian soldiers in trenches in Ukraine and their families. It may sound trivial in 2024, but this movie does let you see the most grounding example of 'banality of evil'. I mean, its almost trivial to hear famous Hannah Arendt's quote again and again, especially when you don't live in war-torn country. But Intercepted illustrates it just like it is - you hear wives, mothers, girlfriends of russian soldiers tell them, that it's okay to kill, to steal from dead civilians. Someones wife is okay with the fact, that her husband will rape ukrainian women. It does not count as cheating, even more - she supports it. Another wife asks her lover to take home some fine electronics, or kids clothes for their kid. From the destroyed house of ukrainian family, I mean, and she knows it. While you listen to this hellish dialogs - you can see pictures of destroyed ukrainian cities, burnt homes... but its the voices and words of everyday russian families that make this documentary so bone-chilling. Its inhumane in a very literal sense - they just don't see ukrainians as people.
(I could not find where you can see Intercepted right now, but I will edit this and provide links later.) "20 days in Mariupol" 2023/"Intercepted" 2024

Where to Find Doraemon in English
Without a doubt, one of the main reasons that Doraemon is generally unknown in the English-speaking world is that most of the franchise is not widely available in English. However, English versions of some Doraemon media do exist, and in this post I will review how to obtain several of them. The “core components” of the franchise considered here are the original manga (1969–1996), the classic anime series (1979–2005), and the rebooted anime series (2005–present).
A selection of Doraemon manga chapters have been translated into English as a 10-volume series. These volumes were released as educational material to help Japanese speakers learn English, so they also include the original Japanese text printed above the manga panels. All the volumes in the series can be ordered from Japanese Amazon, which does ship internationally, at least to many places.
A second English series of selected manga chapters has been released in a similar format, though this time as six volumes and organized by specific themes. The stories compiled in this series do not overlap with those in the previous one, so both can be read without encountering any duplicate chapters. These volumes can also be ordered from Japanese Amazon.
An even greater range of manga chapters has actually been localized into English... however, these are only available on Kindle in the United States and Canada.
An English dub of the 2005 anime series aired in the USA between 2014–2015, covering 95 individual stories (52 half-hour episodes). It has not been officially released on home media or streaming services, but can be found archived online. From what little I’ve seen, the dubbing itself appears to be reasonably well done, though it should be noted that this dub contains numerous edits meant to "Americanize" the content, so it is quite heavily modified from the Japanese original.
A different English dub of the 2005 series aired in the UK between 2015–2016. It includes some episodes that were not adapted for the American dub (and vice versa). However, it has not been released on home media either and many of the episodes are currently lost, which I find surprising given how recently it was on air. In fact, the complete list of episodes it includes is apparently unconfirmed, though it has been inferred that it most likely consists of the first 26 episodes from the Japanese version. In any case, surviving episodes from this dub have been archived online. I also haven’t watched much of it, but the voices seem fine and it contains far fewer edits to the original material compared to the US dub. As far as official Doraemon English dubs with accessible full episodes go, this one is probably the most faithful to the Japanese version. (It even dubbed the theme song!)
Two movies, Stand by Me Doraemon and Stand by Me Doraemon 2, are currently on at least American and British Netflix with English dubbing (featuring the voice cast from the US English dub) and subtitling available. I’m not the biggest fan of these films (especially the first one) and don’t recommend them as an entry point into the franchise, though plenty of Doraemon fans would probably disagree with me on that point.
Despite the relative obscurity of Doraemon in most of the Anglosphere, there is actually a long and complex history of Doraemon English media beyond what I’ve described above. If you’re interested in learning more, here is a detailed video series on that subject!
As for unofficial translations, all I’ll say is that fanmade English subtitles of variable quality exist for the remaining Doraemon movies (excepting this year’s movie that, as of the time of writing, was just released in Japanese theaters) and some episodes of both the 1979 and 2005 series.
