DBZ Thoughts: Gohan saving Videl from Spopovich is not as romantic as it seems
So I made this post a while back comparing the Videl v Spopovich fight with the Vegeta v Frieza fight. In the blog, I indicated along the lines that Videl's fight marked the end of her status as a fighter. After this fight, Videl was reduced to a love interest and any development her character could have had as a next-gen human fighter was dropped.
I would argue that Gohan's attempted intervention in the Videl v Spopovich fight put the nail in the coffin for respecting Videl as a fighter.
Why do I say this? Let's establish the facts:
Videl up till this point is a very capable and proud fighter, IMO more than her dad Mr Satan. She uses her skills to help people and she shows curiosity for new techniques as demonstrated by her desire to learn to fly. Sure, Gohan has saved her as the Great Saiyaman but she has so much courage to risk her life every day.
Videl is such a proud fighter that she CHOSE to remain in the fight. Remember this is a tournament fight with rules and exits. With two words, Videl can walk away from this fight without any consequences besides maybe a bruised ego. However, even when her head is being squashed, she refuses to concede. I think it's Vegeta's level of stupidity, but I respect her for it.
So what is the impact of Gohan trying to save Videl?
If Gohan interrupted the fight before Yamu, he would have been disqualified from the tournament. Videl wanted Gohan to be in the tournament so I don't think Pre-fight Videl would have appreciated Gohan being disqualified.
Gohan is basically disrespecting Videl as a fighter. By intervening, Gohan is unintentionally demonstrating his need to save Videl from her own decisions. Videl is too dumb to save herself due to her pride so Gohan has to step in as her knight in shining armor. Remember, Videl does not need saving! This is not a life-or-death battle like with the Frieza forces, just a very violent tournament match. That Videl can walk away from HERSELF.
The audience is being told that Videl can no longer depend on her own skills and needs to rely on the big (Saiyan) boys to protect her. Videl does not get a chance to swear vengeance against Spopovich or to use that moment to motivate herself to become better. Instead, what we have is Gohan stepping in and swearing vengeance on Videl's behalf and Videl asking Gohan to get back at Spopovich for her. Nothing is wrong with a male loved one protecting you and I find it sweet of Gohan. But this just further robs Videl of whatever agency she had left as a promising female fighter.
Gohan is unfortunately the worst thing to happen to Videl's character as a fighter.

How is Gochi a better ship than Hanvi!!!
ChiChi has spent most of her marriage single! Goku has willingly stayed away from his wife and kids! Gochi's whole marriage was based on a childhood misunderstanding (the proposal is still sweet though).
As much as I may complain about Videl and Mr. Satan, Hanvi is clearly the better ship in terms of romance, parenting and commitment. And I don't consider myself a huge Hanvi shipper! You must be blind to not recognize that out of all the DBZ wives, ChiChi got the worst deal.

News... I have finally decided to write about a particular character from the Dragon Ball series, which is Gohan, obviously😃👍I really figured I'd figure out on what his adulthood would be like, if either he was never with Videl or he was divorced and my motivation with doing so, is that I really wanted to find a way to write a fanfic about him without writing any fanfic ideas that will paint him in a bad light (especially if it's not my intention to do) pertaining with pairing him with the reader🤔💡As for the reader I do think the reader will have the author role or the role of someone who has ever thought of being an author💡📖✍️👩💻
👩💻📗🟠Since They're Not Going To Publish Your Story I Will Take You To Someone Who Will🟠📗👩💻(Gohan x Female Reader)
Genres: Comfort
You've been in a relationship with Gohan for a few years since, (up to the reader's imagination on when your relationship with him started and the situation (good or bad or both or neither) that led to you going out with him in the first place). Aside from your other income (up to reader's imagination pertaining the reader's income), you also have a passion for writing, especially with writing your own book and to find a publisher to publish your own book one day, regardless if it's paperback or digital (and/or online). With your passion for writing a book about (up to reader's imagination on what type of book the reader's working on), Gohan is excited to hear about it, considering that he does enjoy reading, especially comic books.
One day, you came home from a publisher, with tears in your eyes, as if you're worried about having a difficult time talking. Gohan noticed that you were feeling down, as he asked, "Is there something wrong, (female reader name)? And how was talking to the company that's supposed to publish the book you were working on?". You hesitated to talk at first, however you know you're hurting inside as not talking made you feel worse.
You broke down in tears, as you stated, "Today has just turned out to be a horrible day for me... The people who work inside of the company that I was going to have my book published through rejected the book I have written... They said that no one would want to read my garbage story, because they felt I shouldn't be an author due to how I written my story inside the book... They claim that this would be the worst book anyone would had ever read, said other horrible stuff about my book, then claimed no one's going to publish any of my books, claiming I should just give up being an author, while saying I suck at it to the point that I should forget about getting this book of mine or any stories, published! So, I'm just giving up!", as you started to sob. Gohan then went to hug you, with your head on his chest, as he responded, "No need to give up, hun... You just need to gather your thoughts and keep climbing... I get it wasn't a good day for you and you're under alot of stress, darling... I will let you lay down and take a nap... I'm reading your book to see why the people who are supposed to publish your book, refuse to publish your story... I will be back, precious...", before kissing your forehead, to let you lay on the bed you share with him, while he reads your story. He just knew something wasn't adding up about the publishers refusing to publish your story.
After Gohan finished reading the book you worked on, he watched you sleep, considering that he didn't want to wake you up. Once you woke up from your nap, he went on the bed to hold you, as he explained, "I finished reading your story and I wanted to makesure you wake up on your own to tell you this... Some of the things these people were saying are just uncalled for... Seems to me like these publishers are too judgemental and overly critical towards you based on how you have written your story for your book... They're far from constructive... I feel these people who refused to publish your story like to say things that are unsolicited statements... They're belittling you... Your book might need a little work... I just honestly think that your book isn't as bad, as they're making it out to be and your first book would have been an amazing book for reader's to read... I'm sure some people would read it... Tomorrow, I will take you to someone who might publish your story... It's not usually her thing to do... My dad (Goku) has told me this rumor that she might start publishing books...". "Okay, Gohan... I trust you...", you replied, while he's still holding you.
The next day, Gohan took you to Capsule Corporation to see about getting your book published here. "I thought Capsule Corporation isn't about publishing books, Gohan... I thought you were taking me to someone who might publish my story...", you commented, giving Gohan a confused look on your face. He responded, "I am, (female reader name)... This is why I took you to Capsule Corporation... And considering that Bulma is the founder of Capsule Corporation, an engineer, a scientist, and an inventor, she might actually start publishing books, according to my father... This is why I took you there, hun...".
Bulma then cheered, "Hello, Gohan and (female reader name)! What brings the both of you here?". Gohan then explained to Bulma about hearing a rumor pertaining the possibility of her possibly publishing books, as she confirmed that she is before she became curious, if there's any particular reason why he's interested to know. This was when Both you and Gohan explained a very long story about the people rejecting your story and their critical and judgemental reasons why they refused to publish your book. Bulma became mad when both you and Gohan mentioned about the name of publishing company who rejected your book.
Bulma remarked, "Oh I have heard of this publication company that you've mentioned to me about! I actually had a few incidents with those jerks before! And now they rejected your story over this!", before she vowed, "Don't worry, (female reader name)... They will be sorry for rejecting your book like that... I will see it through that your book will get published, since this is for you... I won't publish just for anyone... You're just one if those people I will publish for... I am definitely going to publish right away, since these people in the (publishing company name up to the reader's imagination), did you dirty, especially the evil boss there!", showing her devilish smile. You weren't sure how to take her devilish smile, however you were relieved that you've managed to finally find someone who's willing to publish your very first story. "See, (female reader name)? Everything is going to work out now... I knew there was someone who would publish your story...", Gohan happily said.
In the matter of days and weeks of getting your story published, you managed to get millions of copies of your published book sold. Gohan (and Bulma) celebrate your success of your published story. There are even fans and critics alike who said plenty of good things about your book and there's a critic who even said you have a bright future ahead of you, the way you gave written your story and would want to see you write more stories in the future.
As for the publishing company who rejected your story a while ago, the truth somehow came to many people, including your fans and critics to the point where the publishing company tried pleading to you about publishing the next book you make, as they admitted they were wrong for rejecting your book, considering they know about your success. Your response to the publishing company is, "You shouldn't have rejected my first book in the first place, you jerks... Since I've found someone who's willing to publish my story, you can shove it! It's a blessing in disguise that I never had you as my publisher to begin with! No thanks to you toxic people, however thanks to my boyfriend Gohan, right with my good friend Bulma, who is the founder of Capsule Corporation and also my publisher, I never gave up! You can stay where you are now, while I can keep going up without you! Good bye!". Not too long after that (publishing company name up to reader's imagination) ended up going out of business before they could even decide to file for bankruptcy.
While Bulma is still publishing your first book, while publishing more of your books after that, Gohan has also been praising on how proud he is of you for never giving up on being an author and telling the now former publishing company off. Gohan (and Bulma both) enjoy seeing you succeed in your dreams. He was definitely right to tell you don't need to give up, which was the best advice you had ever followed and listening to Gohan were also the best decisions you had ever made.
🟠👩💻The📗End👩💻🟠
I hope you enjoyed this fanfic my Tumblr Peeps😁👍Honestly aside from Trunks and Piccolo, Gohan was also 1 of the characters I was thinking about writing about 1st, however I'm very glad I did write about every character from the Dragon Ball series that I have written about and I really had fun writing all of the fanfics pertaining them, especially Gohan😃👍Character wise I honestly admire Gohan and I'm really reliving that part of me, considering that I found him very cool😁👍It really makes me happy to write a fanfic about him and I honestly wouldn't mind writing another fanfic about him, honestly😃👍 I'm just always fond of him, even since when I was a kid🟠🧸😁👍

My money's on Akane. Videl exists in a time capsule where she was this badass, strong, lovable and well written character (before post-DBZ works in the franchise assasinated that character), whereas Akane's super strength, equally strong personality, and all the humor derived from those, is just timeless.
Plus, Akane is a fucking legend for giving us THIS.

I don’t know how to fucking draw.
Yamucha mall santa
BELABORED Textpost about Yamucha Dad Swagg under the cut
It’s a very simple equation .. it takes a village to raise a kid and Yamucha is a part of that village.
Picture this. Trunks is just a little guy walking around Capsule Corp. Sometimes he goes days without seeing his father, and when he does see him there is no warm greeting. That’s fine and cool because that’s just Vegeta’s way and Trunks is used to it / raised to it. He sees his mother more frequently than his father, but she is just as busy, and she is always trying to teach Trunks about computers and whatnot - this is fun and fine because Trunks doesn’t yet know that he lacks the natural spark for invention and that his potential pales in comparison to his mother. So it’s good bonding time.
Ultimately, his parents are concerned with his growth, and they do much to encourage it, and that’s awesome. But warm family time just isn’t the love language of the house. Trunks’s grandparents are pretty warm, but they also aren’t that interested in playing video games, just the technicalities of it, so Trunks’s conversation material is stunted.
Trunks will see the other Z Fighters occasionally, but he mostly knows Of them than Knows them. Sometimes, though, his mother will have a friend over.
And something interesting happens when Yamucha visits. Trunks can actually hear his mother laughing from the other room.
And if he sneaks around the corner, he can see his mother actually having a real damn conversation with someone for once. Trunks never sees his parents converse like this, so it’s odd and enamoring to see Yamucha and Bulma talking like normal people.
It’s weird, because it’s not typical to Trunks’s house, but he’s seen it in others, like how Gohan and Videl talk for instance, and it’s sort of .. nice to see.
Not that he’s thinking in those terms - he’s like, IDK, 9, and though he’s a precocious kid, he’s not yet adhering to adult standards of what’s “nice to see.” He doesn’t think that it’s “nice to see” his mother be able to have a non-argumentative conversation with a man. He’s not concerned about what’s good for his mother or not, not in that way. He’s still a kid.
But. He does grow comfortable to the sight.
Bulma and Yamucha’s conversations are still pretty much what you’d expect - Yamucha is only visiting to get this car fixed, she makes some harshly-toned but inconsequential joke about his being unwilling to pay someone to fix it so he’s hoping to get it fixed for free by a friend, and he rubs his neck and says “everyone’s a critic,” and she fixes his car and makes him have tea with her as payment. She complains that he never fucking visits unless he needs some help and he says the same to her. She asks him how life is going and he tells her that Puar is starting a new semester at Shapeshifting University, that he’s working on his Master’s. She says that she’s working on a new type of engine that will revolutionize the industry and he says that his wood stove keeps breaking in odd ways that he can’t make sense of.
She asks him if he still trains and fights and he says Sometimes. He asks her if she finds herself yearning for adventure and she says Sometimes.
IDK where I’m going with this. I don’t know what I haven’t already said in previous posts. It’s just that Yamucha is a nice man ...
Trunks is used to being either A.) treated like a little adult or B.) brushed off, so when Yamucha literally treats him like one would a child, it completely throws Trunks off of his rhythm and he doesn’t know what to do about it.
He ventures into the room where Bulma & Yamucha are conversing and Yamucha is quick to be like HEEEY KIDDO! THERE YOU ARE. WAS WONDERING WHEN YOU’D SHOW UP. HOW’RE YOU DOING?
and Trunks is like HWAH becasue now this man is talking to him and now he’s gotta snap to attention and be polite and civil like his parents taught him. But also it’s Yamucha he doesnt hold him in a very high regard at this time. And he’s just gotta get throuhg this exchange of pleasantries so that they can all move on with their day.
Unfortunately however Yamucha is not Vegeta and he is not bored with pleasantries, he’s honestly interested to see Trunks join the conversation. Trunks is a funny little DUDE yknow? He’s always running around and defeating bad guys and stuff. Yamucha held him when he was a baby a few times and he always sends him a birthday card in the mail. He’s honestly interested, at the high point of the day before the daily fatigue has set in, to invite him into the conversation.
Trunks has no tact for this however becasue he’s not used to this senseless genuineness from an adult. Usually adults will get whatever info they need out of him and then exit the conversation. Usually there’s a point where the adult gets bored and tired and Trunks is used to this pattern and he knows how to recognize it and stop talking about things that only he cares about.
But before Trunks can understand what’s happening he’s being launched into this conversation about Minecraft because one thing led to another and now Bulma has momentarily adjourned the room and Trunks is sitting at this table explaining Minecraft to Yamucha. And he’s sort of fretful and stressed about it because he doesn’t know why Yamucha is doing this to himself? This isn’t typically how things go.
So Trunks at every sentence is trying to pull the brakes on this whole operation, growing more anxious about it the longer it persists, and it does inexplicably persists - Trunks just keeps trying to wrap up his thought but then Yamucha seems to keep encouraging him. “So it’s a computer game? You can play it with an XBOX too? What about a PS2, I used to have one of those.” “You craft what you mine? What do you mine, rocks and stuff? Oh, that’s just the term for the mechanism of acquiring world blocks? And you can craft? Oh, Minecraft, that’s clever.” “You can build anything you want? What do you build?” “What’s a mob? What’s an NPC? Oh, they’re bad guys? Sometimes? Do you fight on Minecraft? WITH A SWORD? I see why you like it.” “Is there a plot? What’s ‘sandbox’? It’s an ‘open world’?” “Can you play it with other people at the same time, like those arcade games where- oh, different screens, same world? REALLY? Over the internet you say? Now how does that work?” “THEY HAVE WOLVES IN MINECRAFT?”
And Trunks keeps trying to Not go overboard but if you ask an obsessed 9 year old about minecraft What TF Do You Think is gonna happen.
Trunks is WAITING, WAITING, WAITING for the inevitable “say, kid, yknow, it’s getting late, I gotta run...” or whatever polite manner Yamucha will use to end the conversation. Trunks is keeping vigilante for it. He’s studying Yamucha’s face and words for any hint of it.
Eventually- “say, I don’t suppose you got any snacks around here in this house of fortune, do you?”
There it is, the Topic Change. Yamucha moves to stand and Trunks silences the urge to finish the tangent he was on. He’s actually relieved - that was getting scary, he didn’t know when the interruption would come. He doesn’t want to embarrass himself any further, so he’s glad for the long-awaited topic change.
They set out to amass a plate of snacks. Yamucha encourages Trunks to pick his poison, and Trunks doesn’t know why he’s still being involved in this operation but he likes snacks so he sticks around. Yamucha remarks that Bulma hasn’t yet returned and Trunks can’t stop himself from responding immediately with what was on the tip of his tongue:
“Yeah, she doesn’t like to hear about Minecraft.”
Yamucha laughs it off, genuinely entertained, saying something about how Bulma didn’t have the patience for most things. He suggests that they go find her and bother her, and Trunks says that she doesn’t like to be bothered when she’s working, and Yamucha says “yeah I know.”
Somehow though they end up talking about Minecraft again. And this vexes Trunks so strongly. Especially when Yamucha finally says “yknow I don’t really understand the appeal of video games myself .. I dabbled in it but it didn’t really take me far” THEN WHY ARE YOU ASKING ABOUT MINECRAFT ???
My point is that the “topic change” was not a topic change, Yamucha was totally gonna return to the Minecraft thing. Which, again, makes no goddamn sense to Trunks.
Yamucha’s just a nice dude. And he’s not annoyed with Trunks becasue he A.) isn’t as seriously-minded as Bulma and Vegeta are and B.) is not Trunks’s actual father so he doesn’t need to fucking see him all of the time and deal with his shit on a regular basis.
IDK. That’s just a story. I feel like it’s a good place to start the development of Trunks getting attached to Yamucha though. Like there are many ways you could spin this but it all sort of starts the same .. Trunks getting judgeless attention from Yamucha, who is warm and friendly and chill and visibly mature and middle-aged.
I mean this could happen at any time but hear me out:
Trunks ages 0-5 would respond well to any friendly adult because’s that’s what babies are like. As long as the adult didn’t have a scary face.
Trunks ages 6-9 will take a bit more convincing to warm up to you, because he’s got opinions and a snotty attitude. But ultimately he’s polite when it matters and he likes to have fun, so if you’re fun then he’s fun, and he’ll be excited to see you, because that’s what kids are like.
Trunks ages 10-15 is an even tougher sell, because his precocious self-awareness now actually MEANS something, and progressively more so throughout the years. And though he’s living life pretty naturally and in-tuned with himself by necessity of his craft, he would still shudder at the sensation of affection / want of attention from an adult other than the expressly accepted Bulma & Vegeta & his grandsparents & Gohan & Videl & to an extent Goten’s parents. Being a little baby kid and wanting to spend time with a beloved adult is one thing, but Trunks is much too self-aware at this age to allow the easy flow of vulnerability. Like, HOW STRANGE. How strange to think he would need something from someone. How strange to think that there could be a shift in the familial dynamic that’s always been. So he would experience some confliction and some shame at a perceived immaturity of the self. Even though he is getting older, humans develop in a gradual way, and by his Saiyan blood he is still a baby, so he is still responsive to warmth and attention, even when it is bewilderingly unconditional and pleasant.
Moreover: Trunks has himself a self-image of self-sufficiency and independence by this time, and he would struggle with how small and clingy he feels when Yamucha is nice to him, and he may just avoid him entirely for it.
Trunks ages 16-18 is no longer susceptible to a new juvenile attachment but he is a kid who likes to party. He is friendly enough and could make a mentor out of Yamucha yet. He could love him like one too.
However in the event that he already had the experience of wanting Yamucha to be his dad when he was younger: by 18 he thinks he’s totally over “it” though he never gave “it” credit for what it was: how much he appreciated the sense of safety that being raised by a village gave him. And that’s literally a normal thing and Trunks is literally capable of seeing that but he’s not Goten so he still is a little slow on the uptake. So he thinks he’s “over it” but as soon as he gets eyes on Yamucha he .. Oh my god I’ll just repost the last image file of a previously-shared comic
This is just so goddamn funny like .. That first panel I wish was way bigger becasue I think it’s everything. The crazed and vigilante yet amiable and PLACID look. It’s like he’s a shark and he’s caught blood in the water. It’s like he was a normal dude before but then he got eyes on Yamucha and his middle-aged man used-car-salesman swag and a biochemical reaction began to occur in Trunks’s brain and he’s become one-track and pursuit-predatorial and now he’s looking at him like this
With so much warmth and love and contentedness .. like he thinks he’s amazing. Like he’s out for blood.
And then he warmly says “you could marry my mom and I wouldn’t be mad.” LIKE ... that’s so funny .. he’s 18 so he thinks he’s an adult but he’s still Someone’s Boy. He’s still a kid. It takes time to mature fully. He’s tall and taught like a greenbean plant and he hasn’t actually yet matured into the heat of the season ... He’s tall and energetic and he wants Yamucha to marry his mom so that he can see his mom get along with someone and for that someone to be Yamucha. It’s not that Trunks dislikes his father - he really really doesn’t - but it’s that he also wants Yamucha to be his dad.
By the time we get to Trunks age 23 - GT times - he really is beyond this. He really is a chill young adult by then. He doesn’t feel the juvenile attachment. He’s a mature organism. He probably forgot he ever felt that way to begin with.
It’s just funny idk.
ANYWAY.
In the event where Bulma and Vegeta formally split (which wouldn’t happen because Vegeta has nowhere else to go really...), Bulma would be cool with it but like any woman with self-respect she would undergo a certain grief to start. It doesn’t last long and she knows she’s happier being single but she allows herself the tenderness. And in this time she may reconnect with friends to feel better, including Yamucha.
And Trunks is around age umm idk let’s say 9 again, and he doesn’t think that his parents formally splitting is a big deal. From his POV, the only thing that will change is that he won’t see his father at the dinnertable anymore and he won’t train with him in the gravity chamber for a while (I say “a while” because Vegeta will come crawling back to use that fucking thing). But Trunks still knows where to find him, and he will still be training and learning under him. So it’s not a big deal.
His mom seems a little sad, which he wasn’t expecting. But she’s said and will keep saying that it was for the best and the mature thing to do, so Trunks doesn’t think much of it.
But much like how this post started, there’s a day where Trunks can hear his mother laughing in conversation in the other room. And it strikes him, rings in his head like a knell, secretive in its pull but inexorable all the same-... it’s been a while since his mother seemed so happy to be talking to someone.
Under the guise of helping Bulma through this difficult time, but really for old time’s sake, but really actually because Yamuch’s cabin has a cockroach problem right now, it’s been arranged where Yamucha is gonna hang out and live at Capsule Corp for a while.
OK don’t let me make this damn post so damn long. You know where it’s going. Trunks despite himself warms up to Yamucha and at the end asks him upfront if he’s gonna marry Bulma. And Yamucha is like NOOO No No No NO! Lol. And Trunks is like WHY NOT?? YOU GET ALONG SO WELL ..
and Yamucha explains that he’s just trying to be a friend right now because he and Bulma did NOT work out in the past. And Trunks is like “Ok so are you going to live here forever then..” and Yamucha is like..........nooooo.........I’m gonna go home to my cabin ..........
and Trunks is like WHAT ???
And Yamucha, who is not trying to become a father, and who has been unsure how to treat Trunks as he sees him getting more and more clingy over the weeks, has to finally concede at this moment that: Trunks evidently needs this right now. He needs a friendly father figure. Yamucha wasn’t trying to get involved in all of this because he at this point in his life does not feel confident enough that he has what it takes to be a good parent .. that he could really give a kid what he needs .. he doesn’t think he’s good enough ... but at this moment he realizes that Well Soemone Has to Watch Stupoid Movies with This Kid and It’s NOT gonna be Vegeta So.....!!
so he tells Trunks “you know where to find me..!” and that he can visit at any time. But Trunks still seems a little sad about it and I can tell you why: it’s because he wants to feel loved enough that people will seek HIM out, not that the onus is always on him to maintain connections.
Yamucha sees that he’s still kind of sad so he makes an impulsive promise to “visit sometimes” and Trunks seems happy to hear that.
In any story you want to spin about Yamucha Dad Swagg I think it pays to consider Trunks’s hesitance to attach, because of his attitude problem and because he does already have two parents, and also how as a kid he responds to the budding connection with insecurity and confusion because even as a kid he takes it upon himself to be totally self-aware and to know everything, because that’s how his parents are raising him.
And it pays to consider what type of attention and affection that Trunks is actually receiving at home.
And it pays to consider that Yamucha is sort of washed-up and is in some ways content with that and in other ways insecure, and that he doesn't feel quite good enough to be a father but he doesn’t want to be without a family for forever, but he is a nice person who is good with kids, and Bulma is a dear friend of his, and he will do what he can to do well by her son. And he’s just naturally friendly and goofy and that gets him into hot water when he accidentally causes Bulma’s evidently-underappreciated son to latch onto him, like a baby bird imprinting upon you because you just happened to be there.
It’s all very simple really. At a Z-team get-together Trunks really wants to pull up a chair between Yamcuha and Bulma but he doesn’t know how to do that without it being weird (he thinks it’s weird becasue he’s self-aware to his own detriment). And he really wants the simple comfort of physical affection that he stopped receiving when his mother set him down as a baby for the last time, but he doesn’t know how to hug Yamucha without it being weird. And he really wants to just like stand next to Yamucha or something but he feels like if his own real father sees him standing next to Yamucha it’s gonna be weird.
In reality Vegeta doesnt give a shit, and if he knew about all of this then he would encourage Trunks to seek out the humanistic family structure he evidently needs to thrive, becasue Vegeta knows that he’s not capable of paying out in that way. But this all goes unspoken so Trunks just feels weird about the way that everything seems like it’s going to be okay whenever Yamucha is around, and he’s trying to find a situation in which it would be acceptable for him to cuddle up with Yamucha like a cat.
Its sort of stupid because that’s literally all it is. And there IS a day where Trunks drags Goten over to Yamucha’s cabin and they roast chestnuts and watch Caddyshack (1980) (one of the only movies that Yamucha owns and he always watches it when he’s sad and drunk and he doesn't even recognize it when he’s sober? He doesn’t know why he has it.).
And it’s fun obviously becasue Goten is there and they eat popcorn but when they’re watching the movie on Yamucha’s new couch (it’s new at this time) (it’s red and swanky) (he thinks it really classes up the place) (now there’s popcorn oil stains all over it of course but he’s trying to be gracious about it), Yamucha realizes that it’s a movie unfit for kids, and Goten gets bored when the popcorn is gone, and Trunks is not watching the movie at all because he is taking this opportunity to hug yamucha as hard as he can as he settles next to him on the couch.
And Yamucha is thinking “ummm this isn’t a very good movie for kids” but he literally can’t get up and do anything about it because Bulma’s damn bastard whelp is clinging to his side with the ardent ferocity of a drowning monkey to a floating log. And also the kid is pretending to be asleep so that no one will try to disturb him but his grip strength gives him away. And so basically Yamucha has to just sit through this weird movie. And Goten gets bored and really does fall asleep next to Trunks. So now Yamucha is committed to this damn movie. And there’s popcorn butter everywhere
Anyway. If Trunks started to bond with Yamucha then he really would want to learn stuff from him / model after him. And that’s where we may run into problems, becasue in practice, their continued involvement may be more of Trunks fixing Yamucha’s car then it is Yamucha teaching Trunks how to do stuff.
But there is still quite a bit that could be done here. Trunks would learn the Spirit Ball from Yamucha. He would learn how to go to diners and tip 30%, 40% if the server was cute. He would learn how to relax and enjoy life. He would learn how to hang out. He would start getting into Yamucha’s music, and then music composition once Yamucha pulls out his old guitar. He would pretend to care about baseball. He would have a new appreciation for monocolored suits. He would try whiskey for the first time. He would develop on his emotional intelligence so that he would eventually be on-par with Goten. He would listen to stories of the past because lord knows that Trunks’s parents don’t fucking tell him anything. ETC.
One more thing. You know that one .. science experiment where they put a baby monkey in a cage of sorts and gave it two “mothers,” one made of warm cloth that served no function and another that was made of wire and that contained a source of food? And they discovered that when the monkey was scared, he always huddled up to the cloth mother for comfort, even though she was not the one to feed him? And the result was something about the realization of the importance of comfort for babies? Yeah well it’s kind of like that .. Bulma & Vegeta are the wire mothers who offer substance of body mind and character, and Yamucha is the cloth mother who can’t do much for him but he’s always down to watch a movie and hang out or something.
END POST. Good grief

My Examination of MasakoX's "Android 18 Made Me SO MAD [ RANT]" Video
youtube
A very good video. Only issues I have is that he (& maybe others) mention scenes from the DBS anime continuity, then talk about the DBS manga continuity as if they connect. They do not. Here are 3 main points I want to address...
MasakoX skipped over the fact that the manga version has always been insulting Krillin & K18. Anime had Ribrianne insult Krillin's appearance and 18's love for Krillin, then 18 proved Ribrianne wrong (& the K18 haters Ribrianne represents) by kicking her butt with the power of love. The manga events have Ribrianne give Krillin backhanded compliments, 18 doesn't defend him, no power of love. All done by Toyotaro just to insult Krillin.
MasakoX misremembers GT (as many do). That one scene where 18 cries over Krillin? Thats nice and all when out of context. In full context, GT 18 (& GT Marron) treated Krillin bad in almost every scene they were in up until that point. Krillin dying after that was more so 18 feeling regret for how bad she treated him.
MakasoX says it is Toyotaro AND Toriyama's fault. In a way it is. But its Toriyama's fault due to him not being very involved in the DBS manga. Toriyama is more involved with the DBS anime while he is mostly hands off with the DBS manga. HOWEVER, Toriyama tried to correct the Ribrianne insult that Toyotaro put in the manga. (The link mentioned previously) The truth is that Toyotaro is a Krillin hater (as MasakoX eluded to). Toyotaro is to blame for the constant mischaractization of Krillin & 18. And Toyotaro being a GT fanboy is the reason for this. GT 18 contradicts what Toriyama wrote in the original manga and what we see in the DBS anime continuity. Toyotaro's innacurate charactization of 18 & Krillin reflects the GT version's innacurate charactization.
So with full understanding...
Toriyama is rarely involved in the DBS manga continuity.
Folks need to remember to point out the continuity differences between the DBS anime & DBS manga.
Toyotaro (a GT fanboy) is a Krillin hater who sabotages Krillin's characterization as well as mischaracterizing 18, making 18 more in line with her out-of-character DBGT counterpart.
Toyotaro has mischaracterized Krillin & called him weak, cowardly, hideous, & now a cheater. And Toyo has innacurately depicted Krillin as weak, unskilled, & cowardly.
For some reason, MasakoX and others refrain to put most if not all blame on Toyotaro. Maybe its because they lack a little information (not an insult to them) or because they know they have DBS manga fans & Toyotaro fans in particular who are subscribed to them so they dont place the blame on Toyo as much? One of the two or a bit of both possibly.
Regardless, good video. If MasakoX was more informed about certain GT scenes & differentiated the DBS anime & manga continuities, it would have been a great video.
Also, I DO NOT hate MasakoX or Geekdom101 or some others. I give constructive criticism which means I point out the problem and offer a solution. If I offered no solution, I would simply be a hater. That's not in my nature. But other content creators who hate on Krillin and blatantly lie then try to cover themselves when I present undeniable evidence that they are lying? I don't hate them either. I just feel nothing for them. Hating is an emotion and shows interest in a person. I have no interest in those people. They are nothing to me. Even less than an gnat.
EXTRA:
Krillin is a pervert who suppresses his desires. So, 18 suspecting Krillin of wanting to cheat makes some sense. Gotta remember that Krillin called Videl cute (twice) & 18 gave him a look.
18 just doesn't want her perverted husband looking anywhere else when she & her infinite energy can provide him whatever he desires. Would Krillin cheat? No. He is a character that is very loyal to not only his friends but his wife too. Plus if he did, 18 would kick his butt. Another reason why he wouldn't is because 18 has insecurities & traumas. Krillin wouldn't want to hurt her in any sort of way. But with how Toyotaro hates Krillin... yeah. That was to make it seem like DBS manga Krillin has another negative attribute about him.
I'm sure some of y'all have watched videos about how the Japanese culture views cheating & how men often cheat or go to a prostitute. With that in mind, 18 hearing Krillin talking to a woman references Japanese culture. But it's just weird that 18 didn't know Sergeant Nutz was his boss after he had worked under her for at the very least half a year. As most things Toyotaro does, it's written without much thought for a wack joke & doesn't make sense.

Videl is such a boss! Or at least she used to be :'(
I just want to see her confront her fraud Dad! She is ten times the fighter Satan is! It's not fair!
Most Horrible DBZ Fight?
Whenever I watch the Videl vs Spopovich fight, I see all these comments about how it is the most brutal fight in DBZ. I think people only say that because Videl is a girl. Because this fight
Can't be compared to this fight
As much as I feel sorry for Videl and as much as Vegeta was still a selfish jerk in the namek/frieza saga, the comparison is not even close.
Let me explain!
History between combatants
Videl has no history with Spopovich. He is almost a nobody to her. The dude hates her dad because Mr. Satan beat him in a fight. He hurt her to get sick revenge on her dad. Nothing deeper than that.
Frieza and Vegeta have a rich and terrible history. Frieza is the monster who destroyed Vegeta's planet when he was 5. Still a kid. He worked in Frieza's planet trade organization, believing the lie that his home was destroyed by a meteor or asteroid or something like that. While Frieza humiliated him, he also had a kind of sick fondness for Vegeta. You can interpret this fight as Vegeta's attempt to overcome his abuser, in addition to proving himself as the super saiyan of legend. This gives the fight way more emotion and meaning compared to the Videl fight which basically just had shock value going for it.
Power Imbalance
Vegeta was doomed from the start, even with his Zenkai boost. Frieza toyed with him from beginning to end. Towards the end of the fight, Frieza drops all pretence of a battle and just wails on Vegeta like a punching bag.
With Videl, Spopovich was the underdog in the fight at the start. She was holding her own and she even landed a killing blow. She began to lose due to stamina. If Videl had fought smarter and tried to end the fight with a ring out, she would have won. If it was not for his Majin powers, he would be dead. But as the fight continued, she lost steam and Spopvich gained the upper hand and began pummelling her.
Stakes
Pretty obvious. The fight with Frieza had galactic consequences. Kami, King Kai and Guru were involved. Planet Namek was destroyed. The fight with Frieza was life and death. Most people in the battle died or nearly died.
Videl's fight was an inconsequential tournament fight. Not even the semi-finals or finals. You can say that's why Spopovich's brutality is so horrible because the context has lower stakes. Which leads me to my final and most important point!
Escaping the Fight
There was no escaping Frieza unless you died or he died. Once Vegeta confronted Frieza, he had no avenue of escape. You can't simply tap out of this fight. Even if he ran away using a space pod before the enraged Frieza showed up, he would be on the run for the rest of his life. Piccolo, Gohan and Krillin literally watched Frieza play with Vegeta because they were totally powerless. All they could do was watch Vegeta's humiliation.
Ultimately, it is Videl's fault that she was beaten so badly. Yeah, I said it! All she had to do was say "I give up" and the fight would be over! But because of her stubbornness and pride, she willingly stayed in a losing fight. Even when Spopovich is literally crushing her skull, she won't give up.
I can admire her resolve but this reason alone is enough for me to say that Videl should not be pitied. And why this fight is NOT the most brutal DBZ fight. It only feels that way because Videl is a human girl and people naturally hate seeing men abuse women. But there are DBZ fights that outclass this one in brutality any day of the week (most Kid Gohan fights should top Videl vs Spopovich just on the basis that Gohan is a literal child!).
The Vegeta vs Frieza fight played a major role in Vegeta's arc. It helped Vegeta respect Goku and motivated him to achieve super saiyan. It also gave Vegeta emotional depth.
Can't say the same for Videl. Her personality did a total 180 after her fight. Almost like Spopovich beat the tomboy out of her. We also never see her confront her dad about all his lies, which partly influenced her somewhat unmerited pride as a fighter which led to her attitude in her fight. What a total waste of potential character development.

The toxicity of Chichi's fanbase needs to be addressed.
They make fun of people for not liking her.
They give people shit for wanting Goku to be with someone else and thinking he deserves better.
They make people feel bad for not sympathizing with her.
They put high standards on Goku and expect him to be a perfect husband and father with no flaws, but Chichi gets a free pass.
They shit on Goku for not listening to her demands, (even though always he does when he's not busy saving the world) and not finding a job when she doesn't have one either.
They blame Goku for all of Chichi's problems and bad behavior, even though she's been a crazy bitch before she even met him.
They harass people for acknowledging that Chichi is abusive, and try to paint Goku as the abuser when canon suggests otherwise.
They insult people for taking the abuse seriously and saying "it's meant to be a comedy" or "it's just fiction" as if that should automatically dismiss all valid criticism. Imagine if someone tried using those same excuses for Peter and Lois Griffin or any other abusive anime relationship involving a tsundere.
They give Chichi all the credit for being a good mom (she isn't IMO) but ignore all the other better Dragon Ball moms who are actually good parents that don't need to use brute force to scare their children into submission just to get them to do what they want. Bulma, 18, Videl, Gine, Panchy. All of these women are objectively better moms than Chichi could ever be and her fans are jealous of that.
They don't allow any criticism of her. They can't handle it whatsoever.
They act like Chichi is an innocent martyr who can do no wrong and think anyone who says otherwise is a monster. Funny how people will always discuss when the same is being done to Goku, Vegeta, Bulma or Piccolo but Chichi apologists are swept under the rug.
They deny canon proof of Chichi manipulating Gohan into thinking he doesn't like fighting. He was only four years old when he told Bulma he wanted to be an orthopedist or whatever the fuck he said.
They get so mad when people insist that she forced Goku to marry her all because he proposed to her. Ignoring context at it's finest. He only proposed to make her feel better and felt that it was his duty to fulfill a meaningless promise that he didn't even understand. The fact that she faked crying because it seemed like he was about to reject her and then kissed him without his consent, fondled him for the rest of the day until his next fight, all while he's looking confused, scared, disgusted, contempt and uncomfortable at the same time never factored into their minds.
They treats THEMSELVES like oppressed martyrs because someone dared to say something bad about her.
I've have been personally attacked by Chichi fans more times than I can count, and I have seen other Chichi haters get unfair scrutiny and judgement. Yet I see her fanbase acting like THEY'RE the ones being victimized, but I see their fanbase doing more harm to the anti Chichis than the anti Chichis ever do to them. If just ONE Chichi hater says something mean about a Chichi fan, it's treated as generalization rather than an isolated incident. But I never see the other way around. And her fans act high and mighty like they're more sane than the haters just because they like Chichi and others don't.
#I will never understand Chichi fans#If anyone tries to treat me like crap because of this post my point will be proven#anti Chichi#pro character hating#Chichi haters defense squad#anti gochi

Dragon Ball GT 46
✨GT Stands for Gently Tousled.✨
This episode doesn’t have any shots of Super 17 sweeping his hair back with both hands the way he did in the last two episodes. But it does have four scenes of him at least touching his hair and moving it out of the way, which makes up for it, I suppose.
✨Positivity Page✨
✨”Good” “Ideas”, Poorly Executed✨
Here’s a moody shot of Goku to start us off. The animators for this episode were clearly trying to make this thing look really cool, but there’s only so much you can do with a crappy story like this. So there’s lots of “““aesthetic”““ shots of the destroyed city they’re fighting in, and the sun is going down, so large chunks of this episode are bright orange.
It’s a rare departure from the usual washed-out pastels we see in most of this series. I was watching some clips of the Super Android 13 movie the other day, and it was just so pretty. Red, yellow, blue, so many beautiful colors in that movie.
Let’s just get to the point. Half of this episode is Goku fighting as a Super Saiyan 1, which the whole audience knows is a waste of time. 17 just got done fighting four vanilla Super Saiyans, and he kicked all their asses. Everyone was waiting for Goku to come back and save the day, but that was because he’s the only one who can transform into a Super Saiyan 4. For some reason, Goku seems to be the only one who doesn’t understand this.
Anyway, he keeps attacking, and nothing works, and 17 says its because he can see through all his moves. So Goku starts shooting energy blasts at him, like that’s some zany new thing no one could possibly anticipate. Well, it doesn’t work either.
Meanwhile, Chi-Chi and Videl have decided to take matters into their own hands and defeat the bad guys themselves, because the menfolk have been gone too long. Videl puts on her Great Saiyawoman costume and she’s thrilled that it still fits. Chi-Chi cobbles together armor made out of various kitchen utensils. This is really stupid.
Bulla approves, and tells her mom she wants in on this stupid mission. You know, Bulla, you could just train and become a Super Saiyan yourself, and then you could go with the boys for the first wave, instead of doing whatever this is.
Meanwhile, Goku has finally turned into a Super Saiyan 4, but his tactics haven’t changed at all. He keeps firing ki blasts at Super 17, and none of it works. It finally dawns on Goku that 17 is letting himself get hit on purpose, because he could easily dodge these blasts, but he’s not even trying.
So fires a 10x Kamehameha at Super 17...
... who absorbs all of the energy, becoming even stronger than he was before.
Okay, so this is incredibly stupid, because Goku has already seen this ability from Gero’s androids. He fought Android 19 back in DBZ, and when he fired a Kamehameha at him, 19 absorbed it through the red implants in the palms of his hands. Android 17 never had this power before, but that doesn’t matter, because in this continuity, Goku never met 17 until today, so he’s only ever seen him in this Super 17 form. And besides, Goku ought to be able to see the same red implants on Super 17′s hands. He never had them before the upgrade, but he has them now, and Goku should have recognized their function right off the bat.
More importantly, even when Goku did figure out what was happening, he stupidly decided to test his suspicions by firing his strongest blast at Super 17, just to see what would happen. I could criticize this decision, but Dr. Mu does it for me. He’s like, wait, you knew that would happen and you did it anyway just to make sure? “You’re a cretin!” Goku tries to defend his reasoning, saying that he wanted to see how Super 17 would handle his strongest blast, just in case it would overload him or anything like that.
Okay, here’s what Goku could have done instead. Mu and Super 17 had no idea about his Super Saiyan 4 form. So Goku could have shot a much smaller blast at him, and then started talking about he finally figured this out, and then let Dr. Mu gloat about it. Mu would probably let slip some useful information, because Goku’s been doing this long enough that he knows the villains get chatty when they think they’re winning.
It wouldn’t change the problem, but at least Goku wouldn’t be feeding vast amounts of his own power to the enemy.
So Goku realizes that he can’t use ki blasts for the rest of this fight. That shouldn’t be a problem for him, since he’s equally skilled at close-quarters combat, but this is GT, and for some reason, 80% of the fight choreography in this series is “Shoot fireballs at the opponent”. At one point, Goku starts to set up another Kamehameha, then he stops himself when he remembers he’s not supposed to do that. It makes him look like a hack.
So instead, he tries to get in close using Instant Transmission, except 17 has that scouted. Turns out he can sense the air displacement when Goku teleports into a location. Two things:
1) Fuck you, GT Goku, for deciding to use Instant Transmission now, several episodes after it would have actually come in handy. You could have saved Piccolo a lot of trouble and taken out Hell Fighter 17 before he had a chance to turn into Super 17.
2) Goku shouldn’t need to teleport just to slug it out with 17. He could just... you know... fly closer to him and throw hands. Dammit, it’s like everyone who worked on this show never paid any attention to DBZ.
So Goku gets his ass kicked, deservedly so, and he just lays there like a dope while Super 17 prepares the Revenge Death Ball Electro Eclipse Bomb to finish Goku off.
And this right here is why I’ve never been a big fan of Super Saiyan 4. They introduced this new transformation for GT, but then they kept making it look weak and useless. They also kept making Goku turn into a giant idiot every time he used it. He fought Baby with this thing and it took five episodes to beat him because Goku kept making stupid mistakes when he should be old enough to know better. And now we’re seeing his second-ever fight with this form, and he just lost. And sure, SSJ3 Goku has a lousy track record too, but he always made the form look strong the whole time he used it, and whenever he lost at SSJ3, it was usually because he ran out of gas. With SSJ4, the problem is he keeps running out of brain.
✨Is this episode worse than “The Roaming Lake”?✨
This episode is supposed to be the payoff to the past four episodes, where Goku was trapped in Hell and the world was depending on him to escape and save everyone from Super 17. And now, Goku’s finally fighting Super 17, and it isn’t making a lick of difference!
This arc is only six episodes long, but it still feels like it takes forever. You spend most of it just waiting for Goku to turn Super Saiyan 4, and he stubbornly refuses to do it until there’s only 1.5 episodes left in the story, and then he gets his ass kicked. It’s like Toei is punishing the viewer for caring about this story.
Well, “The Roaming Lake” never played those kinds of games. Sure, it contradicted the payoff to another episode, where Nam got all that water, but it didn’t contradict itself. The Roaming Lake was promised at the start of the story, and then it saved the day. It didn’t turn out to be full of vinegar or anything like that. Man, fuck GT forever.

Have you also had the misfortune of looking at the Naruto meme subreddit, too? My word, like once a week, there's a "Sakura's useless" joke posted somewhere in there.
Oh! Another excuse I hate people tossing around is, "It's a shonen written specifically for boys, not a shojo for girls, what do you expect? 🙄". Or another "great" deflection from criticizing the sexism in shonen: "Well, shojo has poorly written MALE characters, and THEY'RE not called out for it! ✅♟️". (That's not the checkmate you think it is! Everyone finds poorly written characters in general very annoying, that person just isn't looking for them.)
No one even get me started on the people who bring up Fullmetal Alchemist either! They bring up FMA as their ONE example of an anime with well-written female characters; like that anime's existence alone completely negates the dozens upon dozens of terrible ones! Bad writing is bad writing, no matter the genre; and it's baffling to me how weird some folks are about gender...
I do not have reddit but i do have Facebook and dear GOD is it a shit show. Arguments over who’s more ‘useless’ between Sakura and Hinata. Comments about how Tsunade is trash because she didn’t return Jiraiya’s feelings (URGE I HATE IT), and then every single thing is about propping up character’s like Itachi and Minato and shitting on EVERY SINGLE OTHER CHARACTER.
I loath it but i check facebook for family and the f***ing algorithm got me because of one drawing i shared
And wholey crap, ya no. One anime with good female character’s does not at all negate the other bad ones. Like ya, talk about it so people watch it but people should still be calling out sexist (or racist homophobic transphobic or other terrible writing). Like, i love dragon ball. Grew up on it. Will NEVER shit up about how they did all the girls dirty except Bulma (who was always used as the ‘sexy girl’ joke in dragon ball for all the pervy guys. Especially master rochi). Like one girl choosing family over continuing her martial arts carrer is ok (and something i hate about naruto fandom is that they refuse to recognize that s sexist as the writing is not all the girls are housewives. Hinata is which makes sense for her character/arc, but the only other two we can assume are housewives are Karui and Temari which i think is BS. Nothing in their stories say’s ‘would be happy being a housewife’ to me. Sakura and Ino are both working mother’s, with Sakura (as much as people may hate her) seeving a sort of single mother role since sasuke is never home.) but when they made Videl do the same thing with her only fighting being as a team with gohan i got annoyed. She’s my fav dragon ball character alongside gohan and i think she deserved to be a top martial artist among regular ass people. Like krillian level.
Aa for ‘useless male characters in Shojo’ i only remmember a few anime’s but like… not really? Tuxedo mask could be maybe the best example but he’s also constantly showing up to help and support sailor moon. In card capture sakura i recall the main male character being quite useful and having a great character arc. So i’m calling bs on all Shojo having terrible male character’s
It’s Shonin that is by far worse with treating the ‘non dominent sex’ as a secondary thought instead of actual characters

Reading webcomics as a late has been showing me how the fantasy and action genres continue to have the issue of their works and how good or powerful someone whether individuals or entire "races" is based on genetic superiority to varying but often heavy degrees. They may call it "talent" and they'll sometimes have "willpower" (usually yelling a lot with some power of friendship either manifested or as motivation for more yelling maybe) trump "talent", but genetic superiority even in these still plays somewhat of a role with often the main protagonist being a if not the prime example. Hell, some will just say that the world is based on and revolves around "talent" (aka genetic and or racial superiority) with zero criticism, and by some I mean many. Wanna be the best or successful or the most powerful or whatever the fuck? Just be built different, racially, genetically, more specifically just be born different. Think Videl getting her ass beat in Dragon Ball GT cause she's a human and not a saiyan, with the story itself making a point that humans aren't racially strong enough to beat other species no matter how skilled they are and no matter how hard they try. They are genetically, racially locked out of yelling a lot and going super saiyan. Racially bottom tier, inferior even. There are many many examples of this and it's very ingrained in action and fantasy genres.

Ok
I never understood it when people said that they liked Chichi but "disliked her writing." What does that even mean. She is a fictional character. She IS her writing.
I understand not liking the direction that her character and role was taken in. I understand not trusting the author's motivations, or finding them distasteful or uncreative ... But she's already been written and this is who she is so..?
Liking a character for the potential that you see in them I understand too. But multiple people have expressed to me some variation of "I like her I just hate her writing," as if this is a common thing to feel, like it is an ethical given. And well. I don't get it ....
ESPECIALLY for a character like Chichi. The criticisms that people have for Videl, that she was arbitrarily feminized / wifey-fied / mommy-fied, do not apply for a woman like Chichi. Her entire character was made specifically for this purpose. As a child in her debut, she was romance-obsessed and caught up in the fantasy of it. She specifically wanted to be a bride.
NONE of her personality traits have suffered or been played down ... She's still dramatic, idealistic, believing strongly in those ideals to a near-delusional degree, violent, swinging between having a victim complex to believing that she has the power to call the shots, ETC ETC . . . She's exactly as presented, always has been.
And she never left either. She's still relevant. She's Goku's wife for crying out loud. Sure, her being Princess of Fire Mountain isn't a thing anymore, but neither is the Ox King being a King, or literally MOST OF THE MAGIC-FANTASY FROM THE ORIGINAL DRAGON BALL.
So I don't get it. She's the written stereotype of the hysterical and overbearing mother, yeah, but that's ALL SHE'S EVER BEEN. It's consistent writing, and it doesn't feel like it's empty and dismissive. This is who she is, intentionally. The other women aren't like that. For all the latent and overt misogyny, I still hold that Dragon Ball has excellent female characters. Chichi included. She's nuts. It's realistic.
So I don't get it. I wouildn't want anything more from her. WELL. I would like to see her canonically watch telenovelas and then straight-up deny that she does becasue watching TV is a waste of time and she has better shit to do. But she's sneaking out of bed to watch them. Sitting on the edge of her seat. They're so exciting. She needs that in her life
Sorry this ask is from a few weeks ago when i was sort of Not Being Active and I saw this ask and it really made me chuckle I thought it was great. But then I never answered it. Rude of me. Well here it is. Thank you
