Day one update

So, the rest of my first day continued like you’d expect. I kept looking around the wilds for any “unusual wild pokemon “, but the most exotic things I saw were some more komala, a victribell (and a successful one at that, I peeked inside and they had metapod remains in there), and I think I saw a kecleon running around, which is neat. There weren’t any more “luminoomy”, but those could very well be nocturnal. Or fake. They were all staying in their lane.  As for common Pokémon, there’s less ecological diversity than you’d think. I haven’t seen any evidence of large carnivorous mons (the victribell doesn’t count) but I wasn’t peeking around in tall grass or anything. The paras here are…significantly more fungal than mainland paras, so that’s a bit creepy, but it wasn’t a super significant regional variation. Oh, and every single burmy was trash cloak, which is a bit depressing but not surprising, considering that massive abandoned facility. All this implies there’s some sort of disturbance in the Pokémon population in the forest. Maybe that’s why I was called here? It’s a little bit sad to see that huge fucking factory or whatever on the horizon.,According to the locals, it was some sort of silph co lab, but it closed down a while ago. I also asked around about the “wild pokemon “ and I got told that there’s nothing big around the town. I’ll have to do more looking around the forest at night. Maybe that’ll show what I’m missing, or maybe the forest is really ecologically fucked up.

Oh, and to my 3 followers who may be wondering, the komala is definitely not going anywhere. I’m pretty sure she’s a girl, and I’m guessing she was separated from her typical small 1-3 member komala group. Komala don’t feel safe on their own because of how vulnerable they are (being always asleep and mostly oblivious to their surroundings), so it’s been said that if they sense you’re friendly they imprint very easily. I can confirm that’s true. She kept trying to sit on my shoulder, but she’d fall off because she had her log at the same time, and when I saw her attempting to nest in my bag I offered up the pokeball I used to catch her again and she eagerly jumped in. I hope she’s cozy in there. 

If she’s staying with me, I might call her Varona. I’ve always wanted a proper Pokémon partner. Does anyone out there know how to/if you can form a genuine bond with a komala?

'Capturing pokemon in pokeballs is like slavery' lol no it's not, there are multiple instances of pokemon breaking out of their pokeballs of their own free will just because they feel like it, (Misty's psyduck, Jessie' wobbuffet, Ash's pikachu, James' victribel and carnivine, probably others I'm forgetting, but these are not one-off instances, pokemon getting out of their pokeballs at moments that are inopportune for their trainers is a very common gag in the anime), suggesting that they're there of their own free will and if they didn't want to be, it wouldn't be too hard to leave. So they actively choose to stay with their trainers. And it's not just the anime or coming out of their pokeballs, there's at least one instance in the Alola games where a pokemon refuses to come out of its ball because it's sad its trainer passed away. So there ya go.

Have you ever tried the Pokémon Sleep app? I have, and I've by now got 3 shinies there! A Bellsprout that is by now a Victribell I named Erika, a Geodude I named Brock, and a Shuppet I have yet to name.

Can't say I've actually tried that. While I'd doubt it's a very intensive app, my phone's kind of an old one, it tends to be a struggle to run things on it.

"Ice puzzles are fucking bullshit. Not to mention they are not safe, not disability friendly, and infuriating to deal with. I don't care if we live in a world where a Beedrill could spear someone in two, the ice puzzles are stupid and why are they in every ice gym? I researched them all and they are in every single one!

"The sliding ones are stupid, but if you're an asshole like me you just melt the ice. It's not my fault that Pryce's gym is stupid. Never mind him giving my Victribell at the time such bad frostbite he had to retire to the farm. No that's not the metaphor either, Vinerook is still there.

"The fall through the floor ice puzzles are even worse. Who approved of this shit? At least Pryce still has you on the floor! Who refreezes the floor after? Who gets paid to instill height phobia's on challengers? I'd call someone trying to give snakes legs a genius by comparison."

Okay she has to pause to breathe now but she has a vendetta against ice gyms (especially Pryce).

"Anyway that's why you're the best ice gym leader and I don't take criticism."

Following this concept, I would be the following

Fighting type specialist (driven and constantly pushing myself to achieve new things) Hawlucha, Mienshao, Gallade, Hariyama, Machamp and Toxicroak

Grass type specialist (I have make an effort taking my own time with things and absolutely loving enriching myself in nature) Roserade, Abomasnow, Ferrothorn, Shiftree, Ludicolo and Victribell

Poison type specialist (when i am at my worst I am toxic to myself and others, seeking to nitpick my own worst insecurities or project them onto others) Crobat, Swalot, Scolipede, Salazzle, Garbordor and Skunktank

and finally,

Ice type specialist (I can be cold and distant and feel uncomfortable for a lot of people, like I am giving them a cold shoulder) Mamoswine, Glalie. Weavile, Aurorus, Frosmoth and Beartic

But to add onto this; I would also be the champion, once the Elite Four are bested I would slam back together and become true self once more. As the regional champion I would feel confident in besting any challenger with whatever Pokemon I had (the idea for this being that the challenger could pre-select my Champion team by picking one choice from each elite four team until I had a full team). But since that isn't how pokemon plays I would have the following Pokemon on my champion team: Gallade, Ferrothorn, Crobat, Mamoswine, Toxicroak and Abomasnow.

“If you were a Pokémon Gym Leader, what type would you specialise in?” discourse is fun and all, but, screw it, let’s make it unnecessarily complicated.

Suppose your personality is passed through a prism and you’re split into four versions of yourself, each one solely embodying a separate aspect of your personality (like that Saturday-morning cartoon trope). You’re now all four of a hypothetical Elite Four. What four types do your component parts specialise in?

Me, I’d expect to see Ice (the cold, clinical professional), Dark (the sufferer of depression), Psychic (the oddball dreamer), and Poison (the chronic giver of fair trials).
