The submitter commented, “This is a wild city to go to alright. Imagine a desert. A big vast arid place with not a lot of trees and just a general ecosystem that resembles a typical desert. Gets really hot in the summer too. Except this desert is at the very top of the massive mountain range. So you're looking around and see what looks like a barrier of small foothills in the distance and then you see how close the clouds are to them and you realize that those little foothills in the distance are the peaks of the giant mountains you drove up. It's crazy. It snows there in the winter. There's not a lot up there because it's not a very pleasant place but there's a major freeway that goes through it that takes you upstate so it's a big trucker stop and if you're on a roadtrip north you'll probably drive through it too. I used to have to go up there biweekly for therapy from where I lived down the mountain in high school and every time I had some kind of existential experience.”

First Thunder

Monsoon season is on, and we’re in the early stages. There are thunderstorms popping up in eastern California, particularly the mountains and deserts, and throughout the southwest. This is an early start to monsoon season compared with what we’re used to (a month from now), but this is the result of allowing nature to function normally, without blockages to the flow of OR in the atmosphere.

Today was the first day we heard thunder nearby, on the edge of a rainstorm to the southwest over Mt. Pinos. We didn’t get rain, but we could smell it, and there was dampness in the air. These monsoonal storms are often very small and dotted throughout the land, They pop up suddenly and rain out quickly. There is more sporadic rain in the forecast for Southern California this week.

This evening in Victorville, there is a Special Weather Statement, thunderstorms with half inch sized hail! There are also Flood Advisories in effect. The weather system is moving counterclockwise in the area, a typical monsoonal pattern.
