Today in comedy / action movie history: on January 3, 1982 All the Marbles (also released as The California Dolls) debuted in the United Kingdom.

The husband of the young mother provides us with a poignant portrayal of her intense suffering. After Martin had examined the Princess, Fritz asked him for a full and frank account of what could be expected. Martin explained that while Vicky’s life was not in danger, that of her child was. Fritz thereupon instructed the doctors ‘only to think of the mother, but was informed that it was medical practice to try save both mother and child’. The Prince nevertheless prepared himself ‘to witness the birth of a stillborn child’. He vividly describes the pitiful condition of the mother, who was unware of how dangerous the situation was for her baby: 

Vicky’s pain, as well as her horrible screams and wails, became ever more severe; however, whenever she was granted a respite from her suffering, she would ask for forgiveness from everyone for her screaming and impatience, but she could not help herself. When the final stage of labour began, I had to try with all my might to hold her head in place, so that she would not strain her neck over much. Every contraction meant a real fight between her and me, and even today [29 January] my arms still feel quite weak. To prevent her from gnashing & bitting, we made sure there was a handkerchief in her mouth at all times. Occasionally I had to use all my strengh to remove her fingers from her mouth, & also place my own fingers in her mouth. With the strength of a giant, she was at times able to hold off 2 people, & thus the awful torture escalated until the moment of birth was so near that complete anaesthesia with chloroform was undertaken... Vicky was laid at right angles on the bed; she let forth one horrible, long scream, & was then anaesthetised.’

Fritz describes how, upon hearing not a cry from the newborn, he sank ‘in a half-faint’ onto the bed next to Vicky, whom he had been holding in his arms during the entire ordeal. Martin’s tone of voice as he uttered the words ‘It’s a prince’ seemed to confirm the father’s worst fears, and Fritz thought that what the doctor meant was: ‘such a shame - a boy on top of everything else’, until suddenly heard the child crying in the next room. ‘The sound cut through me like an electric shock; Martin said I should go in, Countess Perponcher took Vicky in her arms, & I staggered, in a half-faint, into the next room where the baby was in the bath, & first I fell into Mama’s arms, & then I sank to my knees. The baby cried again when he was given a further number of slaps, and everything seemed to indicate that all was well, indeed, wonderful, & I was assured that he would live!’

Vegetable - vegetable is Animal's whatnot counterpart, he plays the spoons on many iron kitchen stuff, And he is just as Crazy as animal! No wonder they get along very well. His headcanon voice actor is Fred Tatasciore, And his voice claim is Taz from Looney tunes cartoons.

Leo the axolotl - Leo the axolotl is Clifford's whatnot counterpart, he is one of Dermot's sassy and laid-back friends, And he even hosted a show called "whatnots tonight", and he is the unofficial leader of the whatnot hour gang. His headcanon voice actor is Khary Payton, And his voice claim is cyborg from teen titans go!

Una - Una is Vicki's whatnot counterpart, she is a polite yet often sarcastic girl who helps Dermot with The whatnot hour show, And she even often hangs out with Max since she sees him as her little Brother. Her headcanon voice actress is Siera Florindo, And her voice claim is Red from super why!

Frederick the toucan - Frederick the toucan is lindbergh's whatnot counterpart, he is the Lineworker and Installation electrician guy in the whatnot hour gang, And he is even with Jagger the Fox. His headcanon voice actor is Jeff Bennett, And his voice claim is toucan dan from Timon and Pumbaa.

Raiden the semi radio person - Raiden the semi radio person is Digit's whatnot counterpart, he helps Dermot with The whatnot hour gang, and he can sometimes be clumsy And clueless just like Digit. His headcanon voice actor is Amir Talai, and his voice claim is Alastor from hazbin hotel.

Max Gerbils - Max Gerbils is bean bunny's whatnot counterpart, he is a cute And innocent Gerbils boy that often wants to help everyone And anyone, And he sees Una as his big sister. His headcanon voice actress is Maria Darling, And his voice claim is roary from roary the racing car.

A little about Mercer County Ohio

Mercer County lies at the Western border of Ohio with Indiana. It was organized in 1824 but first created in 1820 and named for a Revolutionary War general: Hugh Mercer. As of the 2020 census, the population was 42,528. You may or may not know the county from its largest (population 10,935) city Celina, which began growing in the 1880s after oil deposits and natural gas were discovered nearby. In our modern day, Mercer County's economy relies on manufacturing--Crown Equipment Corporation, Reynolds and Reynolds, and aluminum manufacturing--as well as agriculture.

About the flag

On April 4, 2002, the County Commissioners adopted this official county flag for the first time in its history. The celebration of Ohio's 200th Birthday was the catalyst for the endeavor. Over thirty designs were received from students, residents and workers of Mercer County. The commissioners accepted the flag created by a group of nine individuals employed by Fanning/Howey Associates located in Celina, the county seat.

The Ohio Channel

Barn –  Mercer County’s strength and heritage in agricultural is clearly represented by the silhouette of an 1800’s style barn.

Three amber bands –  The three bands across the bottom of the flag represents the different colors of crops as they ripen and are ready for harvest.

Lighthouse –  The lighthouse is a symbol for Grand Lake.  The largest man-made lake in Ohio and a natural resource as well as recreation for Mercer County.

Six Beams of Light –  Each of the six schools in Mercer County is represented by their prevalent school color as a beam of light coming from the lighthouse:  red for St. Henry, orange for Coldwater, gold for Parkway, green for Celina, blue for Marion Local, and purple for Fort Recovery.

Foundation of Lighthouse – The foundation of the lighthouse is comprised of  fourteen stone blocks, representing the fourteen townships in Mercer County, Ohio.

The Board of County Commissioners of Mercer County, Ohio gives special recognition to the following employees of Fanning/Howey Associates, Inc., Celina, Ohio for creating the Mercer County, Ohio flag design: Marlene Abels, Vicki Giere, Beverly Heffner, Steve Hopf, Jane Miesse, Jon Miller, Doug Rich, Steve Starnes, and Joyce Vehorn

could you talk a little about the relationship of Vicky and Fritz? what were they like as a couple?

anon you've made me the happiest!! here are some of my favourite tidbits ♥

♡ It was a love match from the beginning till the end. They shared an intellectual and physical bond that was a rarity in royal circles!

♡ Fritz proposed to Vicky while they were taking a stroll near Balmoral Castle. He picked up some white heather, kissed her and asked her if she would consider coming to Prussia. She said she would and he replied that he’d hoped she would stay ‘always’. 

♡ They were partners in the true sense of the word and they were particularly vilified for it. In the patriarchal Prussian society, their relationship were an anomaly. Bismark enjoyed spreading rumors about them : Vicky was the domineering wife and Fritz the weak husband. Once, Vicky wrote to Fritz that a woman in Germany was : 'not the partner, friend and helper of her husband... does not have the same educational level as he... If a wife lays claim to this status she is considered dangerous, domineering, ridiculous, peculiar. In England, every woman participates in conversations on politics, reads the newspapers, knows what’s going on, etc.. No Englishwoman would accept and adjust to the lowly and not very dignified status of a German wife.'

♡ To make matters worse, Fritz was constantly undermined by his own family. Vicky wrote 'from his own mother he seldom or rather never hears... words of affection' 'I wish more people knew. He is such a good son, such a good husband & such a good brother! & always thinks his duty before his pleasure.'

♡ Fritz suffered from depression (not surprising when you have his family and you espouse liberal values while being the heir of the very conservative Prussia). Vicky helped him a great deal. He wrote to her : 'You know exactly what it takes to make me happy through good times and bad, and you know exactly what is best for me... you accept me the way that I am; you have taught me how to gain confidence and see the world in a better way than I did before” “if “marriages are made in heaven” then God has obviously done so in our case.' 

♡ They were constantly under pressure. Bismark’s propaganda machine against Fritz and Vicky destroyed them in the eye of the Court and of the German people. But damn, they stood their ground.

♡ Vicky and Fritz were against the anti-Semitic movement. And Friedrich made it very clear.

♡ Their home was a space where 'love of art, a real sympathy with the intellectual movement and a wider liberal outlook on life prevailed.'

♡ Fritz helped to promote the development of women and their integration in male bureaucracy. In 1872 he supported a petition sent to the Reichstag which demanded that women were able to work in postal and railway services. *Vicky’s influence*.

♡ 'That you now are everything in the world to me you already know [...] I no longer undertake anything without thinking constantly of you and look upon you as my good angel' Fritz to Vicky.

♡ 'If you only knew how your love moves me, how happy it makes me and how much I return it, I do not deserve so much. Dear, dear Fritz, I think of you day and night.' 'For my precious madly-loved Fritz from is own Vicky.' Vicky to Fritz.

♡ To get away from the oppressive atmosphere of the capital, they bought, in 1863, a farmhouse in the village of Bornstedt, near Postdam. They were popular within the village and they loved this country life. When there, Fritz helped to plant and harvest. They also improved the village: rebuilt the church, created a trade school and a new village school.

♡ Even though Vicky could be very demanding and Fritz often away because of his military duties, they were both attentive and doting parents. Their younger children would come in their room at 7am and sat on their bed to eat their breakfast.

♡ Vicky's first childbirth was a very difficult one and Fritz stayed by her side throughout the ordeal. When she gave birth to her second child, Charlotte, he rubbed her feet during labor.

♡ On the day he became Emperor in 1888 Fritz invested Vicky with the highest honor he could give her: the Order of the Black Eagle. As he was already suffering from cancer and couldn’t speak he wrote to his doctor, Morell Mackenzie : ‘I thank you for having made me live enough to recompense the valiant courage of my wife’. Four months later he would die. 

♡ The royal collection kept a bracelet made from plaited hair of Fritz and Vicky, with an FV monogram surrounded by a serpent (x).The Victorians associated the snake motif with eternal love. 

♡ He took the picture below in 1887 at Buckingham Palace, in the room he occupied 35 years ago, before his marriage to Vicky. And on the table there is the small portrait that Vicky gave him after their engagement in 1855.
