WHAT! the adorable lil babie! Ivy kitty! Okay okay, this gave me an idea.

Vessel was quite pleased with himself, Having spent his day off baking and listening to music, generally just decompressing after his usually hectic week. He busied himself cleaning up after himself he had left a few cookies out for later, where he thought they were safe from any felines, at least for the time being. Ivy however was quick to prove him wrong. Having watched Vessel lay out the plate for later, he was ready to investigate. Jumping up onto the stool pulled up to the counter top he reached up with a single paw to bat at the baked goods. Vessel was very much aware of what was happening with his back turned. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." His smooth voice reached IV's ears, the kitten knew he only had a moment to fake Prove his innocence. quickly retracting his paw and looking up at the man with his sweetest little face as he turned to look at the small fuzzball. Vessel raised an eyebrow. "That's what I thought."

sure, you can joke all you want that they're just cats, but at the end of the day, they aren't "just cats". they're anthropomorphized, with organized societies and religions, but this isn't a story about "documenting" these sophisticated cats and their behaviors. the series isn't really about cats; the series uses cats as a vessel for conveying the authors' personal beliefs. the series isn't about cats. the series is about the godless heathen, the strange native, or the savage outsider. they're about the despicable mother, the righteous man, and the omniscient god. they're not "just cats" if they're being used to uphold harmful and damaging beliefs about certain types of people.

like lizardstripe is not "just a cat". she's a vessel for this message that a woman not wanting children should be demonized and punished for having such feelings, and that all women will want children eventually. it's in their nature! they're programmed to feel so!

squirrelflight and leafpool are used to convey that lying to your husband, even if god told you to do so, is a crime worse than death that you can commit. it doesn't matter if your god asked you to do so, and that three children heralded to save your society were at risk of death; you lied to your husband, and you deserve to suffer for the rest of your life.

splashtail and curlfeather aren't just cats if they're being used to bash atheists. they're more than cats if the takeaway of their story is that rejecting god in some way is a despicable, unthinkable act.

they're not "just cats" if the authors are out here using the fucking nuremburg defense for some characters, and the narrative is treating this like it's an honorable, valid thing to say!

scourge and darktail and slash and one eye and sol aren't just villains; they're utilized to communicate a message that outsiders are inherently hostile and evil, and will do anything in their power to destroy your society.

brokenstar and tigerstar are used to claim that some people are just "born evil", and other people are "born good"; that people are not actually capable of great moral change. they're either fundamentally evil, or simply led astray from the path of good.

so tell me again; are they really just cats?

- comes to humans and reacts only to the word “eat”, smell of his favourite food (has a weird habit of stealing the baked apple pieces from pastries, just don't ask) and the sounds of toys picked up instead of any name

- runs, jumps and goes furserk around the floor, walls, ceilings, and humans at any time of the day

- if he bites you, it means he really likes you

- perfectly mastered the skill of traveling around the house through the fifth feline dimension

- it's not cat hair on you, it's a blessing!11

ii

- quiet, small and well-mannered, until he gets to play with a closet door, tin boxes and lids and, in general, everything that makes a knocking or chiming sound

- STARES AT U FROM THE CORNER with the bluest eyes of all

- sleeps on human slippers, drinks with his paw

- stoically endures V's enthusiastic jumping around and attempts to play with him, seems to actually enjoy his buddy's energetic nature and kitty shenanigans

- the main furious destroyer of scratching posts, turning them into garbage in a few...hours even if he's in _that_ right mood

iii

- LONGCAT.

- enthusiastically goes furserk with V at any time of day

- very sociable, meows at humans a lot and often climbs into human laps to be petted, to purr, to shove his long pink nose into a book/plate/cup/laptop just out of curiosity

- scatters toys around the house and instantly forgets where he left them, but likes to play with all of them anyway

- often naps with his loooong legs stretched far enough to accidentally kick a human, when in REM sleep

iv

- quiet kitty number two until something special (or someone , mainly the chaotic duo of V and iii) excites him

- if this happens, he actively plays and runs around the house with them, audibly ekekeks and, occasionally, ROARS at the toys and passing birds like a lion, despite his not the biggest size and very cute fluffy look

- absolutely loves to play with iii, when V is busy exploring the fifth dimension, often lies down and naps curled next to iii

- the fluffiest, chubbiest and most “look, this is our sweet kitty” precious cinnamon roll of all four, and the second ace of destroying the scratching posts.
