yeah, I think the whole marrying your high school sweetheart thing is veryyyy overdone in HP. jily, romione, hinny, all of them not only marrying one of their first partners but staying with them for life? highly unrealistic if we're being honest 💀

And super young, which is even more ugh. I mean, I've met couples who have been together for many years and then got married, but 1) they’re like rare specimens, and 2) they usually get married after turning 30 or close to it. I find it weird as fuck that in Rowling’s world, not only do they all end up with one single partner forever with no possibility of divorce, but they also find that person when they’re kids and never sleep with anyone else in their lives. Like, sorry, but that seems surreal to me. I can buy the idea of having a high school love, breaking up in your 20s, reconnecting in your 30s, and then getting married—that idea works. But for everyone without exception to be married to the person they’ve been with since they were 16/17 before turning 25??? What the hell is that?

And Lily had Harry at 20, which means she must have been 19 when she got pregnant. That’s literally a teenage pregnancy, even if she was legally an adult. She was just a kid. And Ginny? Rowling tries to sell us that it’s super cool because she became a Quidditch player, but for how long? Two years? Three? What kind of youth is that? Rowling, let your boys and girls go out, drink, hook up, experiment with drugs, make stupid mistakes, cry over dumb stuff, and live their twenties like normal people. They can get married and be heteronormative in their 30s. Aren’t wizards supposed to live longer than Muggles? What’s the point of getting married at 20 if you’re going to live to 120? Dude, if I lived that long, I wouldn’t even think about marriage until I was 50, lol.

I don’t know, but seriously, the whole marriage thing in that saga, the parents who are basically teenagers, and people not even old enough to drink in the U.S. having kids—it gives me so much cringe, ugh, pure hives. At 21 in Europe, you’re getting wasted during your Erasmus, meeting people, hooking up, and going to some weird party you’ll never want to repeat—not changing diapers. It’s just so random, really.

Summary: Logan becomes a “cat” for a few days

A/N: Hit this idea randomly one day so here we are! Cat!Logan forever 🤍

- It was after a mission when you noticed something off with Logan. You had stayed behind this time because you weren’t really needed.

- Jean came up to you and said he sniffed some weird plant that she’s gonna study but basically he’s been acting like a cat since he did.

- His hair tuffs were a bit bigger…like cat ears

- And his eyes…yeah, okay, he’s definitely like part cat now. Or something is up.

- Logan didn’t talk just looked at you and sniffed. It was very weird. Veryyyy weird.

- Some stuff was cute like how he would cuddle with you more but then he’d lick you. Like a lot. And, apparently, it’s cause he was trying to clean you.

- Either that or he was saying i love in you in cat or some shit.

- He purred when you’d pet him too. And he’d nuzzle up against your hand.

- He also walked on all fours more often. It was weird.

- Scott thought it was hilarious until Logan started hissing at him and even scratched him once when Scott tried to pet him.

- “Geez…Hey, how long you think he’s gonna be like this..?” Scott said to Jean rubbing his hand.

- “Not too long. I analyzed the flower. Long story short, It’s pollen turns anyone who sniffs it into a “cat”. Obviously not literally or even physically too much but definitely mentally.” She points to the enclosed flower. “The smell from the petals is meant to draw people in on purpose. Logan has animalistic qualities so it just worked on him better… From what i’ve seen he should be back between tomorrow or next week.”

- A week? Everyone looked at Logan as he ignored everyone and licked his hand like a cat.

- Professor Xavier was seemingly very calm about all this. He put you and Jean in charge of watching Logan. Everyone else was to leave him be, including Scott.

- The students thought it was very interesting but Logan didn’t like all the new attention and would always run off when a crowd started to form. Sometimes he’d hiss too. Then it wasn’t cool anymore.

- “It’s okay guys. He’s just…overwhelmed..” You reassured. A lot of students liked Logan. And also cats. You told them maybe if he remembered this they could just ask him when he turned back what it was like.

- Cat Logan only ate fish and some other meats now too. Very picky as well. You tried to give him some bacon and he smacked it off the table. He did the same to most vegetables.

- “This just keeps getting funnier!” Scott bursted out laughing as he watch you sigh at another broken plate of food on the ground.

- “Stop it, Scott. Didn’t Charles tell you to leave him alone? Logan’s gonna get you if he remembers this.”

- “You got him a giant litter box too?” He smirked.

- Yes.

- “No. Now? get the hell out of here already!” You shooed him and finally gave Logan a can of tuna which he ate quickly.

- He finally changed back in the middle of the night a couple days later. He was a “cat” for 5 days.

- He was curled in a ball at the edge of you guys bed and fell on the ground when he woke up.

- “Logan?” You looked over the end of the bed. You made those kissy noises people do to get pets attention. “Hey? Logan?”

- “Where am i…and why are you making those noises..?”

- “You’re talking…”

- “Of course, bub. Why wouldn’t i be? Seriously, how’d i get here so quickly?”

- “Jean said you sniffed something during the mission and you’ve been acting like a cat until now.” You said getting off the bed and walking over to him. He stayed seated and stared into space for a second.

- “The fuck?” Logan stood up and finally noticed he was nude. “Why am I naked?”

- “I could only keep cat you in clothes for so long… You torn up a lot of shirts and pants up over there…and also furniture. And scott.”

- Another pause.

- “….get me a fucking cigar. And booze. I want to forget this shit immediately.” Logan sat back down on the bed and put his head in his hands. How could he be so stupid? Sniffing a strange flower?

- You got him what he wanted and sat next to him.

- “I dunno, it was kinda fun…and your “meow’s” were funny sounding.” You said after a moment of silence.

- He just looked at you and shook his head.

- “This didn’t happen.”

- You nodded noteing not to mention the shenanigans you got into with him and pranks that were pulled or pictures you and the others took while he was in his cat like mind.

- Yup, didn’t happen.

Bonus! Headcanons for Cat!Logan

- He scratched anything he could at first. The curtains, the couch, even the carpet. He used his fingernails and also his claws.

- You and Rogue made him a giant scratching post so he could stop. He only used it a day.

- He really only let you pet him for a long time. Others could for a couple of minutes but then he’d try to bite them.

- He liked “cleaning” himself a lot. He had a lot of hair on his chest and arms and legs especially so he licked a lot there.

- Hairballs happened unfortunately and it was…yeah.

- The first time he did it Scott almost threw up. Storm just cringed. The hair ball wasn’t that big but just… there.

- Also, with the only eating fish thing he drank his water like a cat too.

- More licking.

- You got plenty of pictures like that.

- As for the pranks, one time Scott got the idea to use his red beam as a laser pointer and aimed it at different things to get Logan to try and catch it. One time, it was a bunch of bushes. So Logan obviously got hurt trying to get that laser because the bushes were prickly.

- He also aimed it in the pool and like most cats he hated water but still jumped in because what is that freaking red thing???

- He was very upset getting out that water.

- Scott also put pickles and cucumbers everywhere so Logan kept getting scared turning corners and stuff.

- He’d jump really really high it was so silly

- Definitely gave wanna be black cat mysterious but actually a orange cat energy

- Cat Logan also liked to stare. So…that was happening.

- Rogue got the most pictures surprisingly

- She showed almost the whole school by the time he turned back. He was not happy. He wasn’t mad for long tho because it’s Rogue ❤️❤️

this is personal so please don't reblog this bc I think its weird when I say personal stuff and people reblog it I feel like i shouldn't have to turn that setting on?? Lol

but...both of my parents are seniors. And neither one of them are doing very well health wise. My mom has nerve issues with her hand, diabetes and bad blood pressure, and has had multiple heart attacks, My dad had a fall and never really recovered and had some weird medical problems that we thought were strokes but they never confirmed it. He also got covid at the hospital for those problems so THANKS arizona hospitals

Anyway I get all that. And I wish i could help or be around more. But unfortunately my job (unless we get some cool changes in the agreement) require me to live in LA. I also LIKE living in LA (surprisingly with how much I hate traffic LOL)

But I always get SO STRESSED OUT during the holidays bc I visit them and I need to cross reference with my brother (but again he might not even CARE or be aware that this is happening bc...he just...kinda doesn't care when it happens and I DO see it). I need to ask him or his wife if this happens when I'm NOT here because I have a feeling it gets WORSE when I visit.

But each time I visit my mom finds a way to be a complete and utter bitch at my dad. And my dad IS frustrating. I totally get it. He's always been really frustrating but now its like...frustrating bc he does things that could endanger himself or chooses ways to not make things easier for himself out of pride or just being a senior and not wanting to admit stuff? Idk. I know its a fairly common thing. He also got phone scammed a few months back out of 7k$ and we all were like WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. He doesn't even like paying for COFFEE or good food for himself but LIED TO THE BANK to take out the money when they were like "This sounds like a scam sir" .....SO I GET IT. TRUST ME I GET IT.

But Thanksgiving was mostly good! Last Christmas (lol) I was stressed myself bc I was out of a job for a whole year and had to prep for a con and my car was on its last legs and like I said I just...get stressed LOL Its why i always drive. If I need to bail I absolutely will. Our family has NEVER been good during holidays. Its a lot of abused and abusive people with varying levels of addictions or mental illnesses (is it ANXIETY acting up this year? Or adhd induced RAGE from being overwhelmed! Has someone had TOO MUCH WINE and decided instead of being silly that they want to FIGHT!??! WHO CAN SAY!?!? ITS ANYONE'S GUESS!!!)

And Mom was just RELENTLESS last year. ANYTHING my dad did was a problem. ANYTHING he did...EXISTING...in a place he wasn't supposed to was like...a huge slight against her and because I had the audacity to be like "Mom relax. He's not doing anything" it meant I wasn't on her side or was insulting her or SOMETHING. And it completely blew out between me and her to the point she called my sister crying to try and be like LYDIA'S BEING HORRIBLE AND HATES ME ND SHE CALLED ME A BITCH(which I didn't but i VERYYYY nearly did because she was being a bitch) and like ...my sister is YOUNGER THAN ME LMAO. So my sister texted me like "what happened??" and I told her and she was like...AH. Okay I get it. Because my mom USED to live with her too but she pitched a fit at her and decided to basically run away from living with my sister and move in with her cousin. Then she left there (which honestly seemed the most stable?) and moved in with her sister. And she hated that too.(Running theme in this family is that my aunt is an ACTUAL bitch and I've known that since she came into the bathroom one time when I was sitting on the toilet bc I ran past her on the way into the house bc i REALLY had to pee and she came INTO the bathroom to scream at me for being rude.......but anyway) And then she ended up moving back in with my dad (They aren't married its just...basically roommates LMAO)

She hated living with my brother. My mom is like me. She's basically like a beta fish. She'll just bite the shit out of anything in her tank. I used to live with her and hated it.

LOL OKAY ANYWAY LONG STORY BUT basically....it was a fairly good holiday this time in comparison. I also left after a single day lol Bc I hate thanksgiving to begin with. Not 100% related to my family. I just think the holiday is stupid and pre-gaming christmas and a huge waste of money for someone who travels bc I'm gonna see all these maniacs in three weeks anyway.

I also had a deadline so I had a really good excuse to dip. Thank god.

But bc my parents helped me last year a lot I was like Let me do something REALLY minimal and take y'all out to breakfast. And on the way there my mom is sitting in the back seat behind my dad. My dad uses a cane but she doesn't like sitting in the front anyway. But she was sitting behind him and suddenly 'THE CAR SMELLS'.

Me genuinely thinking something was wrong like maybe I left the travel jerky i bought to eat on the way open. Or maybe I randomly smelled. Its a new car but I'm so used to my old car than anything potentially a problem is a stressor. But no. It was a not subtle way of bitching about my dad. And I was like....okay whatever let it go. Dad didn't say anything so lets just ignore it. Its only another hour or so. And then we get to the restaurant we were going to. My dad and I both get eggs and I ask if she can pass the ketchup. She hands ME the ketchup no problem. Then my dad uses it and sets it on the table. Pretty normal.

This is a thing ~I~ like to do. I like to put the condiments back in the holder thingies. Its not a deal breaker but its like...just a thing. Why have another thing in the way when we can put the ketchup back. So I can't reach it so I'm like "Mom can you tuck this back into the thing" "No. I don't want germs".

I knew exactly what she was doing and was like "Just put it back. I like to put them back." "NO. Its dirty. People touch it"

By this point the vein in my forehead is already throbbing. I go FINE. ITS FINE. I know exactly who you mean. And honestly I'm sure my dad does too and is just.....getting through it. I KNOW she's trying to rile ME up. She picks like a little fly at my dad all the time and its not to get a rile out of him bc she knows he won't really do anything about it. Unless she's hoping he'll blow up eventually and die. IDK (It might not be that drastic BUT Y'NEVER KNOW!!!)

So I let it go. And then she does that thing that bullys or abusers or idk what to even call this but she's done it to me HER WHOLE LIFE. She starts trying to act cute. "Can I have a bite of your eggs Lilly <3"

And now mom is mad. Not a total blow out but I know she's pissed at that. And I don't want this to totally melt down so i offer her the eggs if she really wants but she's already in a snit. THANKFULLY!!!!!!!!!! it blows over. Probably due it it being a massive carb bomb after yesterday's carb bomb. So before we head out I'm like Can you put the ketchup back now? I wanna put the syrup back too. SHE HUFFS. GOES "FINE" and picks it up as if it was covered in dog shit by the tip of her fingers.

AND I AM SCREAMING IN MY HEAD

THAT THIS IS WORSE THAN CHILDREN. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW. And she goes back into 1) doing NOT SO SUBTLE jabs at my dad. Using old insults she's always used but not SAYING its because my dad touched it but that PEOPLE touched it. BITCH YOU TOUCHED IT FIRST AND THEN ATE YOUR FOOD. She only washed her hands before eating bc she went to the bathroom AND she never wears a mask. You give two fucks about germs.

And then on the drive home god I don't even remember exactly what it was bc the blood was in my ears and I was just trying to get them home so i could leave. She said something else that was VERY POINTEDLY about my dad and called it "PEOPLE" again. Like he's not stupid cmon man.

Like just for NO REASON. NOTHING my dad did had anything to really set her off on this. She was just being MEAN to be MEAN. And she KNOWS i hate it.

When i grew up I was always a lot closer to my dad and I can empathize with that. But...idk man we just had more in common? Even if she wasn't working super hard to make ends meet and he was middle class like I GET IT.

But there's resentment and just being a fucking bitch for no reason.

And again this is not to say like Oh my dad the poor uwu old man always getting beat up wah wah wah. Bc again he does a LOT to frustrate me on like...a blood pressure exploding way. But for him its just like...why would you DO THAT. Like literally I was like Dad you have to USE your cane to stand up and walk not just carry it around like a purse. I just....genuinely wish I had normal parents and a normal holiday get together instead of dreading the end of the year that its something I HAVE to do because I genuinely love these people but the drive back my chest hurt, my head hurt, my throat hurt from ranting in my car my JAW hurt from clenching it from stress.

Like at this rate I'm gonna die before they do holy shit. And I think also because they're seniors and in bad health that I worry about them at the same time because....its not fair to either of them that they had to end up moving in together (It ends I think in march thankfully) and because they're seniors that I know...well this could be the last holiday i spend with them. So I make the effort, risk the covid and just go visit them when i can. But holy fucking shit.

what do you think the gang was like when they’re at school? like socially but also academically stuff idk if that made sense but yeah. like I can see soda being the kid who tries his best but just can’t get good grades (rip sodapop curtis you would’ve loved having an iep/504 plan). we know a little bit about this from the books (like Johnny got held back once and he’s a slow learner but he takes his time) but i like hearing people’s opinions lol. I can see so many of them just falling through the cracks or getting forced to move on when they weren’t ready bc kids didn’t get the support they needed or diagnosed with learning disabilities back then and as a education major it breaks my heart lol I have a lot of feelings about this stuff

This is super interesting to think about! Academically we know some stuff from the book which you mentioned, like Soda and Johnny struggling in school while Steve is canonically said to be smart. We know Pony and Darry thrived in school and I think Two-Bit isn’t necessarily dumb, he just doesn’t care lol like he’s definitely been held back by choice. I think Dally also doesn’t care about school whatsoever but I see him as being veryyyy good with numbers so math would come easily to him. I feel like Johnny and Pony would love history class the most for some reason, they both think it’s cool and Johnny finds it the easiest to understand opposed to like math, science, or English.

Socially, I think they’re chill with most of the other greasers. I can easily see Two-Bit being quite popular and even Steve, he just knows a lot of people from school and working at the DX. Soda was definitely a popular kid before he dropped out, he was just friendly with everyone and lots of girls had crushes on him, so as his best friend, Steve was kind of well known by association. This also goes for Pony since Soda and Darry are his brothers- everyone knows the youngest Curtis brother. They all kind of give me the vibe that they’re cool with/know a lot of people but ofc have their very small inner circle. For example, they’ll talk to whoever is around (like the scene in the movie when Two-Bit talks to the other greasers while Pony talks to Randy) but they still canonically don’t eat lunch in the cafeteria, Pony, Steve, and Two-Bit instead opting to leave school and go to the store together. I imagine pre-canon Johnny would be with them too and I can see Dally meeting up with them sometimes too.

okay guys i know i just started an izuku longfic that i haven’t updated in a week but ive been cooking up an mha/reader (haven’t decided the endgame romance yet) LONGFIC that i might post on ao3.

it would follow the story of mha with the reader inserted into class 1A, it would be kinda dark (reader with a super traumatic backstory) (but their super overpowered in result!!) but with like sweet moments and stuff, just alot heavier than the stuff i post here.

reader would have a history with the todoroki’s, mainly shoto and endeavour with a tinsy touya relationship(non romantic!! endeavour is also non romantic it would just play a bigger role)

if any of you have seen tokyo ghoul, readers wuick would basically be kaneki’s, like i said, super overpowered BUT it makes sense plot wise.

this is just word vomit at this point but the reader would ALSO be saved/recruited by the commission at an early age, much like hawks (who also plays a very important role in readers life) (this is how she ends up connected to endeavour)

hiii yes !!! i havent come up with Too much of kaoris lore, so right now its in a pretty rough place butttttt long post ahead youve been warned!!!

kaori (she/they), known as caaory on viltrum, was somewhat of a troublemaker, leading her to be chided a lot. this caused her to be very soft spoken and shy. but when her powers developed, she greatly exceeded her peers when it came to skill and strength. (though, her hearing developed too strongly that it became more of an disadvantage than a power.)

when tasked to fight to the death with her friend, she refuses strongly. this was seen as a sign of weakness and was scheduled for execution. caaory, terrified, flew away from viltrum as fast as she could.

two viltrumites go after her and find her still flying away. they use force rather than negotiation, and caaory still shaken up, kills them out of fear. mortified with her actions, she flies even faster. at the threshold of passing out, she sees the nearest planet and crash lands onto earth.

a family that was driving past sees her passed out in a crater that she left in a field. it was a young couple, their kid, ichiro, and the mom's side of grandparents. they took caaory in, and when asked for her name, she answered as "caaory", but because the name was mistaken for a similar one, the spelling changed to kaori.

it was well known to that family that she had powers, as they had to reprimand her to repress them when she used it casually as if she still lived on viltrum.

for the first two years, she never talked apart from when she told them her name. ichiro seemed to be the only one to communicate with her in a way. because of him, she was able to come out of her shell more easily and begin to talk more.

also!! repressed sibling bitterness but im not sure how to word it

BIG time skip here since i have a little more developed for her when season 1 of invincible takes place.. also kaori trying to live somewhere close to normal as she can, never really becomes a superhero. but wanting to use her powers for good, uses them very sparingly if the situation required it.

anyways around mid season 1, kaori knowing that mark is the new superhero, invincible, offers to train him. she teaches him for a while, but because at the time is time management is Ass, their training eventually stopped.

in season 2, kaori is running late to a class in college, but amber helps her catch up on the stuff she missed. they get along well, and they find out that they both know about mark. after mark and amber break up, kaori, begins to spend more time with amber to help her get through the trauma from when an*ssa threatened to kill her. they eventually start dating but im not SUPER sure how it all happens yet.

after the events of season 2, kaori tries to begin to train mark again. he agrees, wanting to be stronger. mark, frustrated with himself accidentally hurts kaori during training. apologizing profusely, she dismissed it and kept training him.

so thats all that i have for her so far!!! sorry if i made it too detailed, its hard for me to word things in simple ways for Some strange reason but i cant wait to build even more on her character!! i hope you guys like her :D

Sooo first things first bc I think people won't understand this one at first: Medic tf2 is a man who is a mommy dom. To me and to a lot of other kinky people, there exists a non-gendered semantic difference between a "daddy dom" and a "mommy dom", so women can be daddies and, much more rarely, men can certainly be mommies. Kink educator Evie Lupine describes mommy doms as "giggly, joyful sadists". Sound like someone we know? He's mommy (Mommy doms are also typically more "nurturing" and smothering than daddy doms, I'll get to that later)

I really love characterizing Medic as extremely faux-sympathetic (with flashes of real sympathy every now and again), so he's telling you (or whoever) just how bad he feels for you, you poor thing, that looks like it really hurts, and it's, like, the extra hand he attached to your pelvis. If it does actually hurt and the procedure wasn't successful he will safely remove it, though

Although I definitely think Medic can be mean, I think ESPECIALLY in a gorekink/medfet context, he gives a LOT of praise. He's SUPER full of himself, he'd never deride one of his Crowning Achievements In The Field Of Medical Science!

Similarly, he's very good about giving compliments specific to like, all of a person's inside stuff. The size of your organs, the shade of your blood, the prominence of your veins, the sturdiness of your bones... Medic tf2 is leaned over you on the vivisection table lovingly stroking your liver and cooing about how much he loves the color

This one's kind of a big one for me tbh... I think Medic tf2 would intentionally (consensually, temporarily) incapacitate someone so he gets to take care of them. Misery-style. My favorite version of this is Medic "accidentally" taking too much of someone's blood out during a blood draw, so they get all sleepy and he needs to feed them (with his boobs) and let them rest (on his boobs). Despite it all I think he really does like to feel needed.

I think Mommy Medic can be veryyyy... smothering. Figuratively and literally. He can really heap on the compliments, especially with a character who isn't very used to praise, which is its own kind of sadism. And he literally suffocates you in his boobs/thighs/ass/tummy/whatever. That one's a little less psychological.

Okayyyy goresex time... surgery makes Medic horny and he wants to fuck people's internal organs. Tf2 is really fun for this because the medigun is a built-in explanation for how he can do that while the other person is still awake. In Meet the Medic he should've been straddling Heavy's hips and jacking off onto his large intestine.

I don't know how into drinking blood normal humanguy Medic would be, but he definitely likes touching blood. Getting it all over his hands. I think he'd maybe be more into making you (or whoever) drink blood, lick it off his gloves, off his boots, off his big hairy (eroticized body part of your choice here). One of those things that he probably intends as a humiliation thing but if you're enough of a freak you just enjoy for what it is.

The penetration imagery of the needle. I read something like that recently about the scene in Breaking Bad where Jesse does heroin for the first time and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. You understand

On a humiliation note, I think Medic would think it's Very fun to "force" (lovingly encourage) someone to call him "mommy" if they're embarrassed about it, which I think most of his team would be. Medic using kink to help Sniper drop his inhibitions and give in to his urges and Have Fun is one of my fave bushmed dynamics and I definitely think getting Sniper to get over the hill and call him "mommy" for the first time would be a big thing for him. The question about how you write characters reminded me of a question I'd been meaning to ask you for a minute!!! I've noticed almost all the boys have veryyyy distinct diction, which I thought was really cool. It's not just a difference in voice or accent. This was first super obvious to me with the Auron penthouse tour audio when I knew just a moment before he said it, that he'd describe something as "preposterous."

SO my question is how do you do it + maintain it? And is there ever a point where it comes subconscious as your writing a character's script?

That's something I've become more and more conscious of as I've added characters and sometimes it's not the easiest thing! Sometimes I actually think it's a weak point of mine I need to focus on getting better at and am actively conscious of as I'm writing nowadays.

We run into the "creative vs. worker" situation I'm in where as much as I want to be really good about that sort of thing, sometimes I just need to get the fucking work done if I wanna eat so I better stow my ego and perfectionism and trust that it's fine and I'll get another crack at doing a better job of it next time around. There are times where I'll be deep into a recording session, second guess myself, and want to re-write or do another take of the WHOLE THING and it's like...no dude we gotta go. lol

Familiarity with characters matters a ton. I think I did a great job with the most recent Faust stuff, where he felt really unique among the roster of boys. His speech, mannerisms, and character in general gets me further away from what I'm familiar with. I knew it was something I wanted to nail with him, and I think just being aware helped a ton as I worked through it.

Alphonse and Charlie suffer from my unbearable enjoyment of having that accent say big words. It's just fuckin funny to me and will never not get me to giggle, even if it shouldn't really be in their everyday vernacular. Charlie has the added lore excuse of being lowkey smart (Jessie mentions he should have stayed in school) and being Auron's beta reader. Alphonse isn't necessarily well read, but he knows words. Perhaps too many at times, but it's something I'm aware of.

Auron is right in the sweet spot, him being a bit arrogant + desperately romantic allows me to go directions that don't necessarily fit with the rest of the roster.

Seth is similar in that the southern sweetheart approach opens up its own language opportunities.

Finn is one that I'm still playing with. I like when he gets poetic and thoughtful. I think the sweet spot with him was in the hiking/bug audio. Shoutout to that commissioner btw, because I really tucked some lore in that thing years ago. He gets the most "dreamy" of the lot, I think? He romanticizes the mundane the most, and I don't think that was even a conscious choice at first.

As I tackle Echoes and other projects that involve more characters and variety I'm definitely becoming more and more aware of my habits. I actually think that aside from "cook with this mf narrative", ensuring that my individual character voices are distinct and strong is priority number one in the writing room for me right now.

Saying ALL OF THAT to say thank you for thinking that, I'm a tough critic when it comes to myself, but if I've managed to make someone think I'm decent at what I've identified as a weakness, I can at least know that I don't have to beat myself up over it lmfao.

I'm about 20 hours in now so small veilgaurd monologue!

Gonna tag correctly of course but also gonna put it under the cut for safety.

I have been going down a check list in my head based off that one stupid man (skill up?) s review.

I've been keeping all of his nitpicks that sounded reasonable at the time in the back of my head, and I've been actively trying to find things to dislike.

And lemme tell ya, pleasantly surprised.

There are complaints to be had, and I will get to those eventually but for now I wanted to talk about the good because the game is getting dog piled enough.

Firstly: all the people who said it just didn't feel like a dragon age game are straight up lying to you. This game feels as true blue dragon age as they come. It is not, a tactical rpg, it is still an action adventure rpg (rest in peace origins gameplay system, I loved you) but both two and inquisition stepped away from the trpg side of things so I don't feel like that takes away from the dragon age vibe the game carries.

The gameplay is amazing in a lot of different little ways

Combat is fun, it is mostly simple but it's no where near as repetitive as people would have you think. It is actively less repetitive then da2 and inquisition.

You can swap between two weapon styles at will which has been absolutely delightful.

For mages there is classic staff combat but there is also orb and dagger combat which is everythingggg I have had so much fucking fun.

That being said some of the up grades and specializations I've seen so far have been a little lack luster, but that could also just be because it is decently different, operating on an actual skill tree.

The animation and skill tree for veilgaurd is really similar to the newer God of war series, the cutscenes, the combat ect tends to kind of pull inspiration from that.

The lay out of the maps are also semi God of war adjacent, but more importantly, it feels like what da2 wanted to be.

It's very veryyyy similar but better, when you revisit areas you're almost always unlocking new places to scoure.

For all the dragon age games it mimics it feels closest to 2 for me but in the best way possible.

Some other aspects continue to feel inquisition adjacent as well, collecting things, the actual environments, ect.

They also brought back a lot of story telling similar to origins on my opinion, though this is mostly done well with narrative story telling. The dialog and the voice acting is unfortunately a week point.

The actual concepts delivered are great though, and there is more grit and grime happening that feels more adjacent to origins. The suffering is once again the somewhat lack of a good reaction to things from the cast of characters, who are fairly emotionally uninvolved unforch.

Anyway the stuff that's good is really good. There are some cool ass cameos already that feel good, and well done. The choice system feels good, though you're simply not going to have the role play freedome that was had in da:o and da:2 to an extent. It still works for what it is. Anyway that's all for nowww

Why do you like or dislike this character? i think mgsv was the second game i played (after mgrr) and i just. bro i fell in love with this guy almost immediately. hes depressed. hes full of rage. hes got sunglasses. hes even bisexual. more seriously, i think hes just really interesting. hes somehow one of the most reality-grounded characters (in a series with characters like ocelot and fucking. the pain/the rest of the cobras) while also being the guy who invented war-as-a-business and doritos. i find his story very compelling. child of war, doesnt feel he belongs in any of the places he could claim as home, so he fights to make a place for himself... oughghg... hes also veryyyy gender goals for me :3c

Favorite canon thing about this character? hes a NERD. he likes trains and hes a bit of a history buff, hes full of random facts (i know its mostly for game exposition reasons to tell the player, but i also like kaz just randomly knowing shit because its fun). in mg2 hes got all those fucking WEIRD tidbits to tell snake. like the spit thing. half the time i think hes making shit up to fuck with snake. but he does know things. i need fics and stuff to make him weirder.

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character? i dont think i really dislike any of the traits he displays in the games. yeah hes got flaws and hes an asshole and he commits warcrimes, but i think all of that is what makes him interesting. so rather than dislike something ABOUT him, i dislike what was done to him. its probably been beaten to death but im SO sad they killed him off in mgs1 and THEN decided to develop his character. like. cmon. they couldve done so much cool shit with him had he not been shelved so early in the series. or even- they bring back big boss TWICE. why cant anyone else come back 🥺 i love thinking about kaz being involved in the time around/between mgs1-4…

What’s a headcanon you have for this character? i like to think about the mundane things a lot… if i do something and it reminds me of The Character. for example i like the idea of kaz listening to city pop while hes cooking. its a very chill kind of music and its a genre hes likely familiar with if he kept up with anything in japan during the 70s-80s. i also think he would often smell like methol and camphor. tiger balm is very useful when it comes to pain, and he probably uses it a lot post-gz because hes the stubborn-ass type to deny medical treatment and assistance, insisting on doing everything for himself. (the same guy who got back to work after like. only a week spent recovering at mother base. and refuses advanced prosthetics that could help him…)
