Maybe I'm just a sucker for mystery/detective stories in general but Fontaine's archon quest was GOOD
#It was so good. It felt well structured and well paced to me and I got endeared to the characters#I liked how it cut down a LOT on the random fetch quest etc sections they tend to add to bulk up the runtime#And instead we got the very excellent trial system. Which is just AA but it worked because AA slaps#And I'm glad the whole crime case angle seemed to force them to tell a whole story in the two quests we got.#It was a good choice to end it there imo#Anyway Fontaine made me happy.#genshin impact#OH edit I also super liked it when tartaglia spent the whole quest vibing in the bg and then [REDACTED]

#mira makes gifs ✨#sophie shepard#james vega#EDI#urdnot wrex#mordin solus#mass effect#mass effect 3#me3#mass effect legendary edition#dailygaming#i'm gonna continue the rambles in the part 2 gifset but one of the things i adore about tuchanka is the scenic shots#there are literally so many gorgeous ones that about half of part two is scenic shots because holy fuck tuchanka is beautiful#the kalros reaper ones especially? like those are so cool i had to include at LEAST a few of them bc that fight is awesome#and when the cure disperses?? literally the prettiest scene in the game#EDI and james have really cute dialogue together too!! i adored their moments towards the end of the mission#although i did say i was gonna give thoughts on mordin in sur'kesh and i think it boils down to him being an okay?? character in my book#like mordin definitely isn't one of my favorites but i will respect that he's definitely a very complex character and he's interesting imo#especially in terms of how he's written and his motivations/how he sort of grows and evolves over both ME2 and ME3#like the quote i subquoted the post with is the one you get when you try to stall him from going up into the tower#(so it's not from soph's canon- but i love the scene so i used it anyways)#and one of the things i really like is that you can see the switch from mordin in ME2 who argues that what he did was RIGHT#versus mordin in ME3 who is starting to see what was wrong in the context of all the new information he has#and for me- seeing a character who can grow to recognize that they're flawed and made mistakes- i can respect the HELL outta that#even if mordin isn't my favorite character in the trilogy i'm gonna give him massive props for his character growth arc#because it's always interesting to see someone grow and recognize their mistakes and find a way to be a better person#to own their mistakes and fix the shit that they fucked up#i don't think i'd ever choose the option to not cure the genophage but mordin will always get props from me for his character arc tbh#i'll stop rambling now! have a good day wherever you are <3

just found out the lead singer of taiwans biggest death metal band is also an active parliament member since like 2015.... and is still active as a death metal singer. he's a pretty standard taiwanese center left anti communist from what i could gather. which like as a leftist i dont really agree with but i also dont know enough abt taiwanese politics to like make a full judgement. though he seems to be a standard liberal nothing remarkable, radical, or new, not overtly horrible but just bland. but that was something i definitely did Not expect. apparently he's very pro indigenous rights and self determination for indigenous people but being in a centre left mega party like the DPP does not seem like the best way to achieve that. But yea, just thought I'd share
#chthinic collabed heavily with collage last year and ik natsuki (lead singer of collage) is very pro indigenous rights and posts abt it a#lot of instagram and i really appreciate the amount of political stuff on her platform. its all very progressive tho v much limited to tw#so idk. i kind of got the cibe of some groups that see taiwanese indigenous issues as seperate to the larger issue of colonialism and#indigenous rights all over the world to conflicts such as palestine. where some other groups have a lot more of the collective consciousnes#and idk. my view is limited and i didnt see that much but when i go back i def wanna look for more political groups in tw and learn about#the political landscape there for leftism. theres a lot of potential in tw imo#chthonic* natsuko**#edit: overall i think that like.. i get the spirit but i feel like for many taiwanese the identity of tw has been everyone united agaisnt#china which i can understand from the perspective of the indigenous ppl that had their land colonized by the japanese then had to share with#the fleeing kmt settlers. but like i dont think that its the best approach to say only china bad rather than big governments threatening to#take your land by force is bad. because idk my take on china and tw is that regardless of the historical claim or wtv. taiwans indigenous#people have been there long before the han ever stepped foot. and china isnt all good as seen in its treatment of the uyghers and tibetans#but is overall not nearly as bad as the west paints it to be. china is neither fully a communist paradise. and has many capitalist undertone#s influence the government ever since deng xiaoping came to power. personally i never fully agreed with mao. i think mao was a necessary#figure in the beginning and let power go to his head and i believe zhou enlai always shouldve been the founder of the PRC#fuck the kmt.. never liked the kmt and it seems as they are also slowly losing favor in tw also. and like... hmm#i need to do more reading tho. none of this is like 100% set in stone how i feel bc theres a lot i dont know

#writing#the mechanisms#DIRECTORS COMMENTARY EDITION i have not been annoying enough yet#so this fic first came into being september 2020 (a writing rate of about 7 words per day if we ignore how i left it until july 2023) in#mostly the same format. 5 possible deats then DTTM. but! we didn't have a narrator in the same way - it was loosly jonny but he didnt play#the same role carmilla does. this was boring and very samey and i did not get past chapter 1#cut to mechtober 2022. i wrtie a thing abt time loops and jonny speaking to the narrator and the idea that the mechs have died For Good#before but told a story well enough to keep on going. this will be important later#late august 2023! the fic is taking shape and most things will stay the same in idea if not exact words EXCEPT carmilla does not call jonny#she watches him go in silence and just Hopes#now this is not satisying imo like youre saying she spent 5 chapters watching+narrating and now shes in the story she still does nothing?#so i changed it to what it is now Except. because pf the premise of this fic. i think she 'remembers' that early draft#like this version of her character is aware a prvious one did nothing and that partly influences her actions at the end#anyway. yeah. were gettign meta

if any1 is wondering the best free video editing software is openshot and the best free photo editing software is paint.net
#gimp is too unintuitive and bogged down with almost too many options for what should be pretty simple universal tools#pixlr is very good but limited saves without premium so not rlyyyy free imo#edit.photo is a good alternative for browser-based editing but lil more limited#for video editing i like openshot bc u can export in any resolution/aspect ratio which is.. a huge thing that so many programs miss out#this also means u can downscale any video pretty easily without any extra software which is handy#i like clipchamp as well for like rlyyy basic cuts but only if the video is already in a modern resolution#bc clipchamp cant export in 4:9 or other obsolete aspect ratios and adding the black bars is a big bummer#depending on how u wanna use the video ofc#anyways. it'd oddly impossible to find good editing software that is actually free with no limitations or watermarks so..#these r my tried n true <3 ^_^

this whole watcher thing is like. it's not the greatest business decision, yeah. but my biggest question is, why?
it's their company, and i don't think they'd make a decision like this on a whim--they all had to sit down and think and discuss move this big for a long time. look at the numbers, all the statistics, the money, and come to the conclusion that they should create their own streaming service. and then decide that all their old content goes there as well.
idk im just disappointed in the decision but it's theirs to make so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
