@hclfgoddess sent 🎡 for a starter from: Let the wheel decide My Wheel: Belle Your Wheel: Arizona Robbins

"You can't take those out of here." Belle said without even looking up from the file she was looking at. "All records have to stay in here, but you can spend as long as you'd like looking at it."

If you had to, say, come up with adaptations of each of your characters where they're in their mid-to-late-twenties and living in or near an offbeat, woodsy little college town outside of Seattle with a bustling alternative art scene and a lot of options for them to live in anything from luxury homes to super affordable apartments, how would you picture each of them existing? Would Catherine still be in her parents' home, watching her siblings? Would Ruby settle down there for a live among more down-to-earth and eccentric party people instead of the LA elite, and would her family approve of her being stationed somewhere besides NY and LA? Would Serena have any interest in investigating the weird cult-like degenerate activity going on in the local underground metal scene? Would Constance have fled there from the rural south, or is her home just a drive away in rural Washington? 👀 Feel free to go on forever if you want to describe their living arrangements and if they grew up there or moved there or what their day-to-day lives are like or where they work and if they went to that nearby Arts/STEM hybrid university that's maybe named Mt. Rainier. :-)
This ended up longer than I anticipated. I'm not putting it under a read more >:-)
Ruby, after years of intensive therapy, finally realised that nothing good was coming from living so close to her family. It was dysfunctional at best, and toxic at worst, and the main thing was she didn’t even like them. There was nothing for her in LA, and she put some of her worst tendencies down to the crippling boredom and the easy access(they’re a coping mechanism, but she hasn’t done enough therapy or honest reflection to realise that). So, what dies she do? She calls up her old friend Max, wanting to know what she’s up to. Because Max can do no wrong, in Ruby’s eyes. When she mentions the town outside of Seattle, she’s convinced it will fix all her problems. Of course, in moving away, she found the one place where her mothers more out there movies were discussed. Even in death, she will never be able to escape Grace Kane’s presence. She still drinks, but not as heavily. Instead of getting black out drunk multiple times a week, she’s a low level of tipsy all the time. Ruby tells herself that it’s fine. She’s better than she was in her wild party days, so that means she can continue. She found a studio apartment, though, with big windows and a little balcony and she picks up a paint set and canvas one day, because she’s actually pretty good. And if she lives within walking distance of Max, one of the few people that she loves to the point of wanting to be better, well… That’s just a coincidence. She doesn’t work, because she doesn’t need to, but everything’s paid for. Her parents are just happy that she’s not being a public fuck up anymore.
Constance goes to college. She’s the first in her family to even apply, pushed by the guidance councillor who thinks it would be a good idea for her to get away from the small town, where she’ll always be known as the girl who came back. Her parents hate it, from the first minute she broaches the subject. They lost her once, and her moving to Seattle feels like they’re losing her again. It’s so far away, and she’s so… Delicate is the word they use. Weak is the word she hears. They’re scared college is going to change her into someone they don’t recognise, even further from the girl she’d once been. They insist she finds a church to attend while she’s there. She tried the closest baptist church, but it didn’t feel right, so she stopped, but didn’t tell them. The verses aren’t the same without the oppressive heat and the fear of God. She graduates, but her social work degree sits on a shelf, unused. She considers going back, but she thinks she’s just punishing herself. So, she stays. In her shit box apartment where the walls are paper thin and the hallway looks like something out of one of the horror movies her roommate made her watch. She prays, every night, holding the little gold cross in her palms so tight it makes indents in her skin. She prays for the nightmares to stop, for her life to feel like hers, for world peace. She prays to a God she’s not convinced of anymore. She works in a bookstore, stocking the shelves in the relative silence and reading when she’s done. She comes home smelling like ink and paper, arms aching.
Catherine never gets away from her parents. She goes to Mt Rainier, studying marketing, but she’s expected home on time, to take Oscar and Kennedy to piano lessons and gymnastics and Tae Kwon Do, to cook dinner and help with homework. She’s expected to be there for recitals and competitions,  because she can’t rely on either of her parents to remember. So, she does. She lives in an apartment with two roommates, and makes the ninety minute drive multiple times a week, and it’s like she never left at all. Sometimes, she thinks her parents don’t even notice that she’s gone. Her roommates don’t either. No one really notices her anymore, as she floats from place to place. She wonders how long it would take for someone to realise she was missing. If she just… Kept driving. Would anyone file a report? Would they care enough? Or would they just go on and keep living, filling the gap she left. She thought about that more often than she really should. What was stopping her, really? She could leave. She was an adult, she could do whatever she wanted. She could tell her parents to go fuck themselves and actually take care of their children for once. She could miss a pick up, and go to the tennis courts instead. It had been far too long since she’d practiced something solely for herself. Her racket sits in the back of her closet, taunting her. And then, because she’s a glutton for pain, she does it. She does one thing for herself. She changes majors, effectively starting from scratch, even though it took her six years to almost complete her four year degree. It doesn’t feel like enough rebellion. She wants to scream.
Serena’s got a pretty cushy job at a small newspaper-slash-blog. Her dad knew a guy, and it was the best offer she was going to get with her mediocre grades, so she packed her bags and moved to Seattle to chase her dreams. He pays her rent in a little apartment, close to the office, and she brought her little car, and her life stays little. She found all the best coffee shops in the first week, and calls home every night. At first, she stays in her comfort zone, writing about things around her. The car crash down the street, the local University’s latest politically incorrect fuck up and their even worse attempt at trying to fix it. Then, one night, looking for something to do, she stumbles into a bar. It’s dark, and every surface is sticky, and she tries so, so hard to keep an open mind. The music, if you can even call it that, sounds like chaos, and anger, and other things she can’t quite explain. She tries to blend in with the walls, just to watch, because it’s fascinating. She watches in the same way she watches documentaries, the different cultures that seem so strange. She starts picking up on the subtle differences, the subcultures within the bar. People who don’t interact, who barely look at each other, and run in their own circles. The ones that clash, in words or actions, over the smallest slights. She itches to start taking notes, her thumbs flying over the screen of her phone as she desperately tries to remember it all, but eventually the heavy-pour drinks start to get to her. She strikes up a conversation with a guy sat next to her, all dark clothes and dark eyes and before she knows it, she’s pulling him back to her apartment, all thoughts of stories disappearing. He’s gone, in the morning, but she finds one of his rings in her sheets, the next time she crawls into bed. It’s a heavy thing, solid, and almost reminds her of a gargoyle. She opens the half written note. She’s writing because it’s interesting, she tells herself. Not because she wants to see him again.
BONUS:
Andrea is an outlier. She has been all her life. She’s closer to the cryptids she studies relentlessly than other human beings. She works in a coffee shop during the day, living in the shitty apartment above it, and every night she spends hours pouring over her research. She saves every dime to pay for her “research expeditions” where she travels across the country to some Bigfoot sighting, or haunted house, or site of some horrible disaster. She’s been to Silver Bridge, she’s been to Area 51, she’s hiked every forest with a Bigfoot sighting. She doesn’t really do anything else. Her blog has a moderate but fanatical following, half watching the madness for entertainment, half believers who feed into it. She runs purely off coffee and red bull and menthols and cheap food. She once sat for thirteen hours writing a blog post, not once moving from her desk. Her weird kid vibe has only gotten stronger as she’s grown, an uncanny valley of a human being who stares just a little too long without blinking. Her parents barely know her, choosing to put more energy into her more normal siblings. She returns for Thanksgiving, every year a little bit less Andrea.
So, in this, Serena’s the oldest in her late twenties. Catherine and Ruby both sit comfortably in 24-26. Constance would be the youngest at 23, a year out of college. Most of them stay pretty true to their vague character arcs, where Connie had always had doubts, Ruby was always going to try to get better, Serena was always going to realise she was sheltered, and Catherine was always meant to scream.

Graham works as a financial advisor for the Somervilles and, as such, is frequently seen around their estate
Justino's father is the CEO of a luxury jewellery retailer, so perhaps in Thinya's modern verse, her father supplies Justino's father's business
John is trying to grow his business and has his sights set on getting the Somervilles as clients
Delia in her modern verse moved to Seattle instead of London, and ends up working as a nurse within the neurosurgery department of Seattle Grace Hospital
Bea has just moved to London, bringing herself and her daughter, Debbie, to the house neighbouring the Somervilles

NEW FROM FINISHING LINE PRESS: Naked Rib by Deborrah Corr
On SALE: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/naked-rib-by-deborrah-corr/
In Naked Rib we begin in the Garden with Eve, the first female, and continue through the embodied experience of one woman’s life. The verses speak of a childhood deeply connected to the earth and explore a yearning to live creatively without restriction. The lines of the poems lead the reader through young adulthood, motherhood and the intensity of losing both a husband and a grown daughter to cancer. Learning to continue on with gratitude and a renewed sense of this earth’s beauty are the shores on which the final poems land.
Deborrah Corr is a poet living in Seattle. A former kindergarten teacher, she now devotes most of her days to the study and practice of the art and craft of poetry. She has worked with many teachers at Hugo House and online. Her work has appeared in the McNeese Review, Catamaran Literary Reader, Sunlight Press, and several others. This is her debut chapbook. #Eve #garden #female #women #life #motherhood #poetry #chapbook
PRAISE FOR Naked Rib by Deborrah Corr
Animated by Deborrah Corr’s muscular voice, each poem in “Naked Rib” is an act of retrieval. The book opens with the child-self claiming the primordial mother Eve (“I lifted her out of the ink and drank her”), then arcs through a life driven by hunger for connection and ultimately carved, as we all are, by love and its loss. These are poems that embody the transformational power of words to keep and carry forward what we love.
–Elizabeth Austen, former Washington State Poet Laureate and author of Every Dress a Decision
Deborrah Corr’s Naked Rib is a powerful collection of lyric poems illuminating dramatic moments in a life. Her skillful use of biblical imagery in the first poem, “I was Eve,” announces her themes: the desire for sensual experience and freedom from strictures, communion with the natural world, and coming into the power of the female body. Often elegiac in tone, these poems map a journey through the ferocity of childhood longings, the growth of sensual awareness, into the experience of motherhood, marriage, and family. A central sequence of the book explores the loss of her husband and daughter to cancer, (“cancer, the camera, its shutter snapping/ closed, first on him, then on her.”) These grief-stricken meditations show her arrival at the hard-earned understanding “to pay / attention to what I’ve been given.” What we readers have been given here is a beautifully crafted collection of deeply moving poems.
–Alicia Hokanson, author of Perishable World and Mapping the Distance
There will be safety in the honest word. In this book a fearless girl child grows to be the woman given to saying hard things with grace, not one to deny the rewards of temptation taken, even when results are dire. Isn’t this life for living full, no matter what a poem has to say to help a reader face it? Mean love, frenzied loss, cancer, epiphany—early in this book you learn, and by end you know: I will follow this voice anywhere.
–Kim Stafford, author of As the Sky Begins to Change and former Oregon State Poet Laureate

Ryan Graves blurring the lines between genres, while retaining a very honest, vulnerable twist.
Tumblr media
Ryan Graves is a musician with a focus on Christian rock and pop. Hailing from the Seattle area, he has been active since the early 90s and has had the opportunity to release many well-received projects, including 2023's "Legacy" and "Human."
His songs are personal yet engaging, drawing from influences as diverse as Alanis Morissette, Eric Champion, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons, and more. Graves' latest release, "Human," is a synth-rock gem that embodies his diverse style. The album unfolds across 11 tracks, including the cinematic introduction "Enemy," with a lush electro-rock wall of sound that's sometimes reminiscent of modern Coldplay or The Killers. However, Ryan has a unique lyrical twist, with fast-paced vocal lines that are akin to rap in the verse.
The title track is one of the highlights of this album, providing a balance between electronic soundscapes and intense alt-rock melodies, not unlike artists such as Nine Inch Nails or Depeche Mode. Still, Ryan's delivery is unmistakably original, as he leaves a lasting impression with his endearing, nearly hypnotic vocals. The second track, “One Man,” is an amazing song with a stunning introduction that is somewhat reminiscent of artists such as Angels & Airwaves, especially due to the sparkly guitar melody, which offers a lush, reverb-drenched tone that’s mesmerizing and cinematic. The background vocal hooks are incredibly far-reaching and galvanizing: an amazing contrast with the gritty texture of the beat, pleasantly saturated to add some impact to the mix.
The fourth track, “Meadows,” is another excellent piece of music on this album. The song kicks in with a subtle melody, which allows the vocals to stand out. This is truly one of the most understated and personal songs on the album, and it showcases Ryan’s most vulnerable side as a songwriter and human being. The sweet sound of the guitar arpeggios adds a timeless quality to the music, and it pairs really well with Ryan’s amazing voice. The song “Dissonance” dives deeper into Ryan’s most experimental leanings, providing some interesting electronic textures and a sparse beat, which brings an intimate and somber quality to the melody.
Clocking it at 3 minutes and 34 seconds, the track “Grace” is an impressive curtain closer. As the last song on the album, this track offers a little bit of everything we’ve encountered in the set list thus far. We get roaring rock guitars, as well as synthesizers, drum machines, and edgy rock vocals with a modern flair. This is a true monolith and one of the most powerful tunes on this entire release.
These are only some of the most notable moments, but the album overall is an amazing roller coaster of quality production, insightful lyrics, and gripping melodies that won't get out of your head so easily. In conclusion, this dynamic studio work actually encompasses rock, pop, and spoken word, resulting in peppy, fun, and honest performances that are sometimes whimsical and quirky yet emotional and vulnerable. Ryan is a perfect example of how artists can stay true to their vision and beliefs while creating work that is extremely accessible and compelling, appealing to a very broad audience.

"As close as perfect as you can get, huh?" Jackson asked, eyebrow cocked in Mark's direction. "If you say so, Sloan. You do have a point, though. All interns are hopeless at some point in time. My intern year, I can't even count how many times I got lost at Mercy West. It was embarrassing." And he was glad he was a little more well-versed before he came to Seattle Grace, even if he did have to relearn where everything was. "Are you paying me a compliment, Mark?" he asked, letting out a little laugh to show he was only teasing. "Calling me a beautiful butterfly?"
Tumblr media
"Oh I sure do remember my time as an intern, Avery. Just as I'm sure you remember yours. And I'm not saying I was perfect, though I was as close as you can get I'm sure you can imagine. And I'm not saying that they have to be perfect...yet. I'm saying that they're hopeless just as all interns are at one point or another. Doesn't mean they all have to stay that way. I'm sure some of them will blossom into beautiful butterflies with enough time." He smirked over at his protégé, one of the best people to have learned from him.

BIOGRAPHY
George O'Malley was born and raised in a close-knit family. He grew up with two older brothers, Jerry and Ronny, who often teased him, contributing to his feelings of inadequacy and his drive to prove himself. His mother, Louise O'Malley, is very loving and supportive, while his father, Harold O'Malley, is a traditional man with health issues that later become significant in George's life.
George excelled academically and pursued his dream of becoming a doctor. He attended medical school, where he was known for his dedication and hard work, despite often struggling with self-confidence.
George began his medical career as a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, joining a group that included Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens, and Alex Karev. His initial nerves and a botched appendectomy earned him the nickname "007," implying a "license to kill," which deeply affected his self-esteem.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Miranda Bailey, George worked hard to overcome his initial setbacks. Bailey's tough but caring guidance was instrumental in his development as a surgeon.
Throughout his time at Seattle Grace, George struggled with confidence and competence issues. Despite these challenges, he demonstrated growth and resilience, earning respect from his peers and superiors.
George's father, Harold, was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a complex surgery that was ultimately unsuccessful. Harold's death deeply affected George, causing him to reassess his life and career.
George's personal life was marked by complex relationships. His impulsive marriage to Callie Torres ended in divorce after his affair with Izzie Stevens. His romantic life was often turbulent, reflecting his internal struggles and desire for genuine connection.
He heroically saved a woman from being hit by a bus, sustaining severe injuries in the process. The extent of his injuries made him unrecognizable, and it was only through writing "007" in Meredith's hand that his colleagues realized his identity. George's death was a significant and emotional turning point in the series.
His character embodies the themes of compassion, resilience, and the importance of personal and professional integrity. George's legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the lessons he imparted, making him one of the most beloved and enduring characters.
His actual canon bio: HERE, which has more details.
VERSES:
V: Georgie O'Malley [Early Life]
George was the youngest brother of three brothers and not as tough as his other two brothers. But, he was smart and he eventually chose to go to medical school.
V: 007 [Intern Year(s) and Residence]
George is one of five interns at Seattle Grace, and he earns the title 007, after just a couple weeks. He struggles but perseveres. Even as he has to repeat his intern year until he gets to retake it and become a resident with his friends, he still tries his best.
V: I'm about to do something important [Canon Divergence]
Maybe George didn't leave to meet his mom or didn't join the army. Maybe he did. But this is all canon divergency and AU.

can you explain how courtney could have a molly doll?
I think i answered this before, but that was like a year ago so im going to say my thoughts again but in more depth because i've been thinking more about it since then. Buckle your seatbelts folks because this is a long, wild, bumpy ride.
We all know the "real" answer is that Mattel wanted to bring more money and free advertizing in just like they did with Julie's barbie (barbie is made by mattel as well if you didn't know)
BUT
The in-universe explantion is much more thought provoking and fun to theorize.
Ok so, my theory on this is that in the AG universe, the dolls do exist (which is now obvious and confirmed) and are exactly the same as in our universe BUT one difference: the stories are based on real people rather than being fictional
So like in the AG universe, the girls descendants (or they themselves, if they were/are still alive) sell their story and appearance to pleasent rowland/mattel.
This has evidence in 3 places:
1: The mini dolls, were originally released as "dolls for your dolls: As in, Historical dolls for your American girl of today. This was changed later, but it still has always stuck in my mind
2: Z Yang's old youtube videos that AG released in preparation for Nanea's release. I can't find the specific videos now, but i remember in 2017 there was a few stop motion videos where Z Yang is seen playing with mini dolls (which are meant to be her own AG dolls) and she also talks about Nanea's upcoming release.
She makes an offhand comment about wishing she could have nanea on her show. Now, if she meant interviewing her own little Nanea doll, or an actual full sized nanea doll being in the room with her (Like how people on here just put all their historical dolls they own together in thier own "Universe" because why not) i would give it a pass but, Z talks about Nanea as if she were a real person who is unavailable for interview. Which would make sense if in Z's universe, Nanea was a real 84 year old woman who sold her life story and would probably be unwilling to fly to seattle for an interview and/or didn't know how to work a computer for an online call.
3: Courtney's molly doll. This is the most damning evidence of all, and one that sent alot of people into a frenzy, and what you orignally asked me. Before this was released, alot of people were content to believe that the historical girls all lived in one long timeline in the same universe, so we could have fun theories like Marie Grace and Grandmary, but courtney's books shattered that illusion.
She has her own Molly doll, and her books go into heavy detail about pleasent company in the 80s. This now meant that
A: Courtney took place in a seperate timeline than the other girls
or
B: they all took place in thier own universes with no crossovers allowed unless dr strange gets into here somehow.
Alot of people thought this because they assume that either AG dolls didn't exist in the AG-verse OR that it did exist, and its exactly the same as it works in our universe
But it doesn't have to be that way! We can still have all the girls on one timeline, with a bit of editing.
So lets say that in 1986, just like in our universe, Pleasent Rowland still gets the bright idea to make educational dolls to teach children the history of the USA, but instead of having authors make fictional characters, she seeks out real people.
This is where the timeline splits between our universe and thier universe (well it split a while before that when the girls were born but whatever) Anyway, She seeks out the story of 3 girls to start with. She finds the desendants of Kirsten and Samantha (Or possibly samantha herself if she was still alive in the 80s) and went straight to Molly.
They told their stories to her, she made it as usual, and boom, pleasent company is born. In this universe, she pays royalties to them or their families for using their stories and image, but the company makes millions so its worth it. The rest of the characters are made in the same way, and eventually in 2020, Courtney herself sells her story of her childhood growing up in the 80s. And that is how courtney can have a molly doll and still be in one big happy AG universe.

She whose reddened eyes roll ecstatically, She is Mahātripurasundarī, The Great Beauty of the Triads.
Praise be to Parā Aṃbikā, of allure so exquisite that, enchanted, Śiva grew his third eye just to worship her beauty.
Her body is anointed with sandalwood, and her fragrance bathes and deludes the three worlds.
She is Śrīmātā, The Auspicious Mother.
Praise be to Lalitā Aṃbikā, The One Who Plays, whose girdle of tinkling bells stirs creation into being.
She who gifts the sun his effulgence, Her toenail holds the universes, and Her auspicious thighs are known only by the fortunate Kāmeśvara.
She is Kāmākṣī, She whose eyes are desire.
Bhavānī, you are the nectar of the ocean of compassion: grace this songstress to only sing of your praises.
“Hymn to the Empress of Kings”, one of my poems offered to Devī at the magnificent Siri Jyoti Pūjā in Seattle. inspired by the verses of the Lalitāsahasranāma which extoll Lalitā’s rapturous beauty. Śrī Mātre Namaḥ. Happy Navarātra!

SEPT POUR DIMANCHE
- This week has been a wild ride. I had a few days off, and finally finished up the quarter. I did ok this quarter, and this next is looking like the same chance for ok grades. 4 quarters to go, so by this time next year, I'll be done with my 4 year. I'm planning on starting my MBA right after, but the thought of enjoying a quarter off is downright sinful.
- Tuesday night was John Mayer at Climate Pledge in Seattle, and it was a fantastic show. The musicianship was incredible, lots of deep album tracks("Walt Grace Submarine Test, 1967 got me a little misty), and it was a blast to go with H and actually have a 'date' for the 1st time in 3+ years.
- My work week was absolutely miserable. Like, "coming home covered in pulp and red liquor miserable because everything that could go wrong, did go wrong" miserable. So that was fun... :-/
- Taylor Hawkins... simply no words. What an amazing light dimmed way too soon. In my own selfishness, my friend Randy and I had tickets to see the Foo in August. Just to hear "one of these days" or "wheels"... yeah, just heartbreaking.
- Speaking of weeks and unnecessary b.s., I've been my moms chauffeur for the past 3 days because her mechanic has been messing about and she doesnt want to drive her F250. Now I don't blame her on that front, at all. But I've been working nights all week, and its seriously cut into what little sleep I've been getting. Now I can deal with very little sleep, but the 30 mins of complaining about absolutely everything is just... yeah. I love my mom, but some of her theories are nuts.
- The little box in the corner from Union tube and transistor is my first journey into the land of boutique guitar pedals, which just might become a habit... Maybe it was bad that I was a huge U2 fan growing up, The edge being "an architect of sound" and me being a huge fan of his playing. But an even bigger maybe is that you might actually get to hear it one of these days.
- Tomorrow starts 6 days in a row(possibly 7), and I'm not looking forward to pulling on my boots in 6 hours. I feel lost, tired, and in need of spiritual rejuvenation. No, I'm not looking for old time religion, but im kinda approaching the season in my life where I should have a moment to look around at the bigger picture and appreciate it. But yet, every time I seem to look up lately it's like I keep getting deeper into the myre. The Bible verse from Psalms, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?" Keeps going in my head, but I know it's me who saves me in the end. I rebuilt my life after my divorce, after destroying my knee, and now I'm attempting to rebuild a life while being a parent of a small child in my mid 40s. And while I rejoice at my ability to rebound, I can't help but wonder, "is there any relief?".
Anyhow, much love to yall. Thanks for listening and sticking around. You all inspire and amaze me, every day.
