This, this was worst case scenario; to be on a mission with a new contact, and to have her nightmares haunt her. ( And that ' contact ' was the Inquisitor! How incredibly embarrassing. )

She swallows back, and with a shocking lack of sarcasm, Laika says, “ I actually, really, really, would love to pretend that never happened. ” She doubts Mira will take that as an answer.

Emmrich's honest to his core, his heart needled handsomely in that primly rolled sleeve, but alas, his concern rests bested in the scales inside his chest. His pen drags. she slowly lays back down with a soft groan, eyes closing for a few moments before opening them and looking at ren. well, at least he's here. it makes the pain a little more bearable. she breathes in shakily, wincing at the sharp pain in her ribs. "did it at least look cool? please tell me it looked cool."

Help, I wrote 1300 words of pre-game Viago holding a feral Rook back from assassinating Illario (who else would it be???) after Lucanis disappears.

Does Rook have any evidence that Illario was in any way involved? No.

Is it a good idea to assassinate the only remaining potential heir of the First Talon? Also no.

Is this going to be really awkward to explain to Lucanis in a year?

BALDUR'S GATE 3 MUSES

My Astarion will always remain a spawn. I won't write him ascended.

For his personal quest, I will "default" to him freeing the other spawns after he killed Cazador and sending them to the Underdark.

He's a flirt, but he's hard to actually ship with. It takes a lot to reach him under his many layers.

I will mostly write him during BG3 timeline, but I'm open to do pre-game and post-game stuff, too.

Cassandra is a gold draconic sorcerer, which means she has high affinity with fire magic

She resisted her urge and ended up free from it after her dual with Orin, being alive and well at the end of the game. I won't write her otherwise.

In her playthrough, she was in a romantic relationship with Astarion, but she won't automatically be interested in him if you write him. Chemistry is needed, and I'm also open to ship her with other characters if chemistry is there.

In my headcanon, Cassandra couldn't resist her urge before getting the tadpole and could barely exist on her own.

My main verse is BG3, but I'm very interested in writing pre-game stuff and even post-game stuff.

My Shadowheart will always become a Selunite and betrayed Shar.

My "default" for her ending is that she accepted to let her parents rest in peace.

Chemistry is needed for shipping as usual.

I will mostly write her during BG3 timeline, but I'm open to do pre-game and post-game stuff, like I said for Astarion.

DRAGON AGE MUSES

My "default" for Fenris is that he stayed at Hawke's side and that they sided with the mages.

Like I said for Neve, he won't automatically have a crush on Hawke or sleep with Isabela if you write them because chemistry is always needed. I'm also willing to ship him with other characters if chemistry is there.

I'm willing to write pre-DA2 stuff, but I'll focus on DA2, DAI and DATV's timelines.

If we're writing in DAI or DATV's timelines and we're not shipping, you can assume Fenris is Hawke's lover. The one I have in mind is my main Hawke, Allys, who's a diplomatic/sarcastic mage who sided with the mages.

In DAI, romanced or not, he will come to Skyhold once he learns Hawke is there and help the Inquisition at his friend's/lover's side.

In DATV, he will be helping the Shadow Dragons.

He hates Solas deeply, and even more after he learned what happened to Varric.

I'm writing Neve hardened and not hardened. I personally saved Treviso in my first playthrough and Minrathous in my second one, and I know I'll save Treviso more often. But I'll write both versions of Neve. I won't "default" to any outcome; I want to keep it open.

Because I'm always selective when it comes to shipping, she won't automatically have a crush on Rook or on Lucanis if you write them. Chemistry will always be needed. I'm willing to ship her with other characters too if chemistry is there.

I'm focusing on Veilguard timeline, but I'm also open to write her post-Veilguard and post-Trespasser.

(I've also just added my Inquisitor Thalia Lavellan who is iconless for now)

Her romance in DAI was with Solas, but I'm open to other ships if chemistry is there. If we're not shipping, I'll default to him, especially in Trespasser and Veilguard's timelines.

Dorian was her closest friend in DAI and it'll default to this when it applies.

I'm open to pre-Inquisition stuff, but I'm more interested in writing her during DAI, Trespasser, Veilguard and the gap between these games.

VEILGUARD ARCS: VARRIC

ALL of this is going under a cut because it includes big spoilers for the endgame, so click at your own risk !

okay so for those who didn't read my angry, rant-y thoughts after finishing the game ( here, and even after two weeks i stand by them, i'm still not a huge fan of the end part of the game ), when it comes to varric and veilguard i want to keep the essence of what bioware intended — namely that varric's death remains intact and, outside of very specific plotted threads/verses, i do not intend to really write varric as being still alive post-veilguard — however, i have big, big issues with how it was executed in the game and will be changing that as i see fit.

after much consideration, i've decided to give varric two veilguard arcs for the most flexibility in terms of interactions, because bioware making him dead from the start severely limits me as far as interactions go during veilguard lmao. the first is this one, which is the easier one to figure out, where varric does survive the ritual ( as most of us believed at the time ) and then dies later on in the lighthouse during the course of the game ( the specifics of which can be plotted with the relevant writing partner/muse, as well as the impact that this has on solas' plans to use rook's regret over varric's death to escape his prison which??? i still don't understand how this was ever actually meant to make sense but y'know. whatever. the point is, nothing is fixed aside from the fact that varric dies from the effects of solas' lyrium dagger at some point before the endgame ). this allows at least some interaction between varric and the companions during the veilguard timeline while still allowing his death to have the impact in the narrative that it does

the second is one that is more canon compliant in the sense that varric did perish at the ritual site and has been dead all along, but that this isn't something that rook only discovers at the very end of the game ( since i feel like that's an insult to rook's grief, to all of the companions and faction leaders who purport to care about them, an insult to varric's own impact on so many other characters aside from rook and solas and an insult to solas that he thought he could keep up the illusion for that long, blood magic or no ). again, this is not fixed and i am open to plotting depending on the partner and muse in question, but i do think the revelation regarding varric's death should come no later than late act 2, pre-endgame mission. varric has had too much of an impact on too many other characters in this game series for rook's illusion to reasonably hold after that point imo, especially as rook is supposed to have a support network of companions around them that would have been witness to their denial and grief for weeks, if not months, by then.

i am also toying with a veilguard arc for varric based on a lot of fan speculation prior to the game's release that would yeet varric into the second fade prison alongside solas so it's the two of them advising rook during the game ( and... honestly? at this point i would have preferred that for varric than what we got ). he's still dying though, apologies but i am still here to inflict varric-related grief on everyone :))

well!

evelyn joined the ostwick cloister as a vestal at the age of ten. while not universally required, the ostwick chantry ( like the starkhaven chantry ) is highly orthodox and much more restrictive than the fereldan or orlesian chantry. therefore, her inclusion in the chantry cloister required a vow of total chastity. ( much like a catholic nun in our world ) the ostwick sisters "marry" the maker in an approximation of his marriage to holy andraste, and therefore remain chaste while they live and serve the cloister. however, it is typically a voluntary arrangement. evelyn's case is special, as she was pressed into service very young due to her family's money troubles and the unlikelyhood of her being able to find a good marriage. she is the last of four children, and the only girl.

her pre-anchor experience lies entirely with practicing kissing the other sisters in the ostwick chantry. in any non-romanced verse, she's had 0 sexual partners up to veilguard... whomever she romances in inquisition, or in any plotted ships here, is going to be, canonically, her first partner unless specifically plotted.

in her save file, she romanced black.wall, and slept with him. but for the sake of the default world state of this blog, outside of the context of any plotted ships with other writers, she is a very pent-up virgin. she is, however, attracted to male, female, and androgynous presenting people.

Verse: Footsteps of the Black Hound

Dragon Age Verse

The primary verse that will be used for Asheriel on this account. Ashe acts as a possible arcane swordsman companion for the WoF / Inquisitor / Rook throughout the series. Splitting this between games under the cut.

Pre-Dragon Age: Origins

Ashe originated from Redcliffe, where his father, sister, and brother were living. After his magic was manifested, he was sent to Kinloch Hold where he meets the Nanna (@avrorean), Iander (@theshirallen), and Jowan.

Ashe showed a remarkable lack of skill with primal and entropic magic, instead leaning into spirit and creation magic.

Oddly enough, Ashe found a vague father figure in Greagoir, who took him under his wing. This began Ashe learning how to wield a sword and dispel magic.

Thanks to Ian, he learns how to shapeshift.

Dragon Age: Origins (~18 years old)

During The Fifth Blight, Ashe manages to escape Kinloch Hold with Ian due to the Hero of Ferelden's intervention, and quickly asserts himself as an ally.

Ashe shows great interest in the werewolves, and ends up using his shapeshifting to take their form.

After the Blight, Ashe travels with Ian to return help return him to his clan, before splitting off at Kirkwall.

Legend of the Black Hound (Between Origins and Inquisition)

During the years between Origins and Inquisition, Ashe secretly travels over Thedas in his hound form. He began to use his abilities to help apostates and hunt blood mages, eventually earning the monikor The Black Hound due to his shapeshifting.

During this time, Ashe developed a relationship with a monster hunter named Morgan. The two split for unknown reasons a few years later.

At some point, Morgan had Lily and left her at the sanctuary Ashe had built for apostate families. Ashe adopted her, and began to raise his daughter with all the care and love he was able too, while still hunting as The Black Hound.

Dragon Age: Inquisition (~28)

Ashe returns to Fereldan when the southern circles rebelled, hoping to assist and protect as many mages from blood mages and templars alike as he could. He found Ian again in Redcliffe, and can be recruited as a Party Member in part due to his reputation as The Black Hound.

Ashe could be found a majority of the time healing people or taking care of his daughter, Lily, who was only 6 years old by the time of Inquisition.

During the Inquisition, Ashe receives his personal quest "Old Flames" after receiving a letter supposedly from Morgan and finds out she's in danger, only to fall into a blood mage's trap.

Through Ian's influence, Ashe starts to recognize his and Solas' concerns with the Veil during Trespasser, and decides after to leave the Inquisition in order to study and learn more about the Veil-- hoping to figure out a safer method for removing of it.

Dragon Age: Veilguard (~38)

During the intermittent years, Ashe joined the Veil Jumpers in order to study ancient elven technology and increase his understanding of the Veil.

With his skills in shapeshifting, combat, and magic honed from decades of fighting, Ashe quickly becomes an expert explorer for the jumpers.

Lily, meanwhile, took up learning how to be a healer like her uncle and father, hoping to be of some support to people one day.

Ashe offers his services after finding out about the aftereffects of Solas' ritual. Though he agrees with Solas' plan to an extent, he still feels there must be a safer way.

...Also, there are two gods on the loose, and honestly one issue takes precedence over the other at the moment.

Personality

Proud and quick to judge, Margery wasn't born a rebel, but was made one by circumstances. She doesn't often mince words, and when she does it is typically for her own ends. She keeps her heart guarded, and is slow to trust others with her past. Her nurturing streak comes out with younger members of the Veilguard, and once past her defenses a woman of dry wit begins to reveal herself.

History

Born in the grey coastal city of Amaranthine, Margery moved to Denerim at the tender age of twenty to wed Ghilad, a man she had never met but had been arranged to marry. She will still tell people it was the bravest (and most frightening) thing she's ever done. A few years later, they have a child, a girl (or so they believed at the time).

Things are happy, but not happy forever. She avoids the riot, thinking her family will be safe if they keep their heads down, but then the purge comes- and then the plague. First her husband sickens, and then her child, and then her. When the Tevinter mages come, she uses the last of her strength to bring her family to them. For her trust, her husband is left to die, and she along with her five-year-old are sold to Tevinter.

For years she belonged to a man named Quintius, and was able to remain a mother to her child, until a bad turn of luck left Quintius in need of a little extra coin. Separated from everything and everyone she had ever loved, Margery hardens, and every sharp knife looks like it would fit neatly between Quintius's ribs.

She wouldn't have her vengeance. At least, not yet. At a banquet held by her master, she is freed by the Viper, and turns her freedom to the Shadow Dragon's cause. Her bold actions within the fledgling rebel faction quickly earned her the scorn of the Venatori and traditionalist magisters.

Luckily, a certain dwarf has a particular fondness for opinionated elves.

Half-way through the game, after a cryptic passcode is given to her by Solas, she reunites with her child- her son, Bruno.

Main Choices: Saved Minrathous (believing her child is still in the city), lets Solas tear down the Veil (through less destructive means I still need to think about) and/or atone, Dorian for Archon, Harding leads the scouts, Neve got Blighted

Companion Choices: Emmrich turns away from lichdom, griffons with the Dalish, Bellara keeps the archive, tells Taash to do what will make them happy, Illario jailed/Spite and Lucanis will split, Neve is encouraged to become Batman, Harding embraces herself and not her anger.

Gossip made its rounds faster after nightfall, and Laika reports most, if not all the whispers that land in her ears to Dorothea. Who better, really, to tell about a loose Thread's and an ex-contact's tumultuous relationship.

With a crooked smile, Laika puts one hand on her hip, " What? Talking about it doesn't mean I care. " Still laughing, she jokes, " I've been known to share! "
