I lost a fic, its at least 5K probably leaning twords 20 though. It involves Merlin getting sick, I think pneumonia. I remember that at one point Morgana reads him a book when he's sick, and Arthur almost leaves to get Hunith because he thought Merlin wouldn't make it. May have something to do with a formalwear tunic that made him cold and got sick, but that might be a different one. I also think he was going to go to a party of Gwen's before he got sick?? sorry if this is kinda vague

I’m including the fics’ summaries as well as my own personal notes, but be aware that the notes I leave for myself are fucking dumb because I have sadbrains. Also not all of these take place explicitly in season one, but they all feel like season one would be an appropriate spot in the timeline to drop them.

I'll Have What He's Having by gekizetsu Summary: Sam/Dean. Silly title, atrocious premise, spur of the moment crack. ~3000 words, strong R for badwronginappropriate behavior and near-pr0n.Dean messes with Sam until Sam can’t take any more. Dean shouldn’t do that. Or maybe he should. My notes: Cracky prank war fic where Dean decides to recreate *that scene* from When Harry Met Sally to bother his poor innocent brother. Includes literally the most perfect exchange I’ve ever read in a fic.

Love Letter by whereupon Summary: Sam/Dean, first season, nc-17, 4,849 words. It's almost fall and Sam hasn't said anything about leaving. My notes: First time, car porn. Angst. Hot, empty highways.

Rack ‘Em by veronamay Summary: 4,997 words. Explicit. All he had to do was keep busy and avoid staring at Sam like a starving man looking at a rib eye steak.  Easy. My notes: Just some good old-fashioned pool table sex.

1st Week of May

I hope you are continuing to stay strong! I’ll be honest in admitting that I’m starting to get some quarantine fatigue. I’m so very lucky. No one in my family (and my remaining family is all in the high-risk age group) has gotten sick. I am grateful to every single person who has stayed at home or maintained their social distance when out because you’ve kept them safe. But the walls have felt like they’re closing in lately.

Then I read an article like this and remember that while we humans have been metaphorically holding our collective breath right now, mother nature has been able to breathe more freely than she has in years. And that particular article was the inspiration for this week’s two recommendations.

Why This Story?

These two are completely inspired by the happy images of baby sea turtles making their way to the ocean. Nothing deeper than that (other than veronamay’s smokin’ hot sex scenes with very toppy Jensen. :) )
