Keema Semiya Recipe
Craving for some minced meat but bored of the same old curry? Try this keema semiya made with good old minced meat and vermicelli at home with this recipe by Hyderabadi Ruchulu
Ingredients
2 cups Vermicelli
300 grams Minced Mutton
1 cup Diced Onions
3 Tomatoes
2 Green Chillies
1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder
1 1/2 tsp Coriander Sees Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
2 tsp Salt
2 tsp Chilli Powder
1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
Recipe Notes
Fry vermicelli first.
Heat 1 tablespoon clarified butter (ghee) in pan.
Fry vermicelli in it.
Fry till it changes colour.
Move it into a different bowl after it turns brown.
In the same pan, heat 2 teaspoons oil. Add 1 cup onions and fry.
As onions turn transparent, add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder,
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and fry.
Fry for a couple of minutes and add 2 green chillies.
Add washed minced mutton and mix. For 2 cups of vermicelli,
300 grams of minced mutton is used.
Close lid and cook on high flame.
Cook till the water seeping out of the minced mutton boils away.
Add diced tomatoes and cook till tomatoes become soft
Add 2 teaspoons chilli powder, 2 teaspoons salt,
1 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds powder,
1 teaspoon cumin seeds powder, 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
Mix.
Stir and add 1 cup water and close the lid
Let the water boil away which will cook the mutton
Add 4 cups water for 2 cups vermicelli
Add curry leaves, close lid and let the water boil
Add fried vermicelli and mix
Cook till the water boils away
Cook on low flame for 5 more minutes
Serve hot!

Heat a griddle or tawa. Roast the paratha from both sides gently. Do not sprinkle oil. Remove to serving plate and decorate teeth gaps with tomato ketchup and make eyelids with green sugar vermicelli. Make all the parathas similarly..

Starter: Vermicelli Seafood Rolls - Vermecelli noodle wrapped and fried around a mix of shrimp, taro, wood ear, onion and bean vermicelli Pho Xe Lua Thin slices of eye round beef, thick cut of shank beef, tender brisket, tendon beef ball, soft tendon and tripe. Fresh rice noodles in beef soup, served with bean sprout, basil leaves, slices of lime and jalapeno. An amazing, hearty bowl of soup that was very filling. Huge portion of noodles in this bowl. Aunty Pauline Evill @evillloo of Lawson’s Dry Hills Wines lives on the island paradise of Waiheke. She has been dreaming of real Malaysian Nyonya food of the type she grew up with in Kuala Lumpur. Today lunch offered an opportunity to see Aunty Rita @rita.lai.5059 at Bunga Raya, New Lynn and Uncle had the pleasure to take her. She had already decided to have the Ling Collar Vermecelli Soup yesterday. This soup is Bunga Raya’s best-kept secret. The soup has components that has subtle shifts of flavour in that it his kiam church (preserved mustard greens), ginger and sing boi (preserved plum), cooked in a soup with beehoon (rice vermicelli). Milk is added last to the soup. Normally deep-fried battered ling collars are added but today, we requested them not to be soaking away in the soup, so there’s a bit of crunch. Uncle had the Bunga Raya Nadia Lemak. Aunty Rita has kept the Curry Kapitan for Uncle’s original guests, Otis & Sarah Frizzell @theluckytaco_nz. But pressure of work meant they had to cancel. Uncle would stick his neck out and say the Nasi Lemak is one of the best you can find in this town. All the elements of Nasi Lemak are there: ikan bills, stir fried peanuts (with skin on), cucumber and the 2 most important components, the sambal and the lemak rice. Bunga Raya’s sambal does not have belacan so the onion and tamarind shines. Aunty Pauline asked for some more sambal to take home, that’s how good it is. She also said the lemak rice was the best she’s ever had. There’s a reason for that; the rice is freshly cooked with coconut cream and instead of Bunga Telang (blue pea flower) colouring, it’s pandan leaf which has been squeezed to extract the flavour and green colour. The Curry Kapitan has been kept from the weekend’s special. For such curries, they improve with age (frozen). Lunch toddy was just like what you could get in a kopitiam in Kuala Lumpur.
