I’ve just started my PhD this week and I’d say I’m overwhelmed, yeah. But not for the reasons you’d think. Yeah I have a lot of readings and work ahead of me, that’s okay. But I don’t get to meet people. I see them on zoom calls and over email but the relationship building with my cohort and my lab isn’t there as strongly as it could be, and in some cases isn’t there at all. I know it’s only day 3 of classes but I feel like I should be more involved with research already. I’m lacking direction in a realm that’s brand new to me, and I think that’s supposed to be somewhat normal, but I don’t have the confirmation from others in my program. Idk. I’m feeling a little lost, but I will find my way.
