A recent take on Bocca della veritá inspired me to think of this: yeah I also prefer the vflower version. I don’t even like the song that much in general but that’s a topic for another conversation. The reason why I prefer vflower’s version is because she actually sounds like a person who smoked two packs of cigs for forty years. And this is a unique sound for vocaloid songs. That being said, I don’t want my daughters Mafuyu and Mizuki to smoke two packs of cigs daily for forty years. So maybe it’s for the better that Mafumizu’s version is inferior to the original one

Temple of Vesta/Hercules, Rome

The Temple of Vesta is the popular name given to the round temple near the Tiber River in Rome (now Piazza Bocca della Veritá). The association with Vesta is due to the shape of the building but in fact it is not known to which god the temple was dedicated. It may have been dedicated to Hercules Olivarius, patron of the Portus Tiberinus oil merchants, as three or four temples to the Greek hero are known to have stood in the area of the Forum Boarium where there was also a Great Altar to Hercules.

The temple is Greek in style and was probably the work of an eastern Greek architect. The building also uses that quintessential Greek building material, Pentelic marble, from near Athens. At the time of construction Pentelic marble was one of the more expensive building materials and so was rarely used for large projects. The columns, entablature and cella walls were constructed with this marble whilst the inner cella wall was lined with tufa and stucco.

The temple is 14.8 m in diameter (50 Roman feet) and has 20 exterior Corinthian columns standing on a 360 degree, 5-stepped tufa podium. The unusually high columns are 10.65 m (36 Roman feet) tall and are topped by composite capitals, which have a combination of Ionic volutes with Corinthian acanthus leaves. All of the capitals are constructed from two separate pieces and the flat ends of the column flutes, the single block used to carve the foot, base and plinth of the column, and the integration of the base into the first step of the podium are all typical features of 1st century CE architectural practice. The cella entrance was flanked by two tall rectangular windows, one on each side, and these remain visible today.

Some sort of disaster struck the temple in the 1st century CE as 10 columns on the north side were replaced using Luna marble and a capital, very similar to the originals but not an exact replica, was replaced on the south side.

The relatively good condition of the building is due to the fact that it was converted into a church and the oldest records (1132 CE) refer to the building as the church of S. Stefano alle Carozze ('of the carriages'). The building is today without its original roof and entablature. In addition, the top portion if the cella wall was replaced using brick-faced concrete and windows were added in the 12th century CE. In 1475 CE a fresco was added above the temple's altar. In the 17th century CE the church was re-dedicated to S. Maria del Sole ('of the sun') only to be then deconsecrated within two centuries. Finally, between 1809 and 1810 CE the podium of the building was excavated, the surrounding ground level was lowered, and the building was restored once again.

I love how the people watching only the anime believes that Matama and Nemo are now together because of the tenth episode. I believed too when I read the 16th chapter of the manga.

BUT NO. NO THATS NOT THAT SIMPLE.

THESE DUMMIES ARE NOT TOGETHER YET, THEY DON’T THINK ‘Oooh maybe she loves me too/Ooooh maybe I love her’. NO. THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE THE SHIPPERS WAIT FOR THE LOVE DECLARATION.

Though I’m glad we - the shippers - are fed with some others situations. I’m not starting a petition for them to be finally openly in love with each other.

a few scattered ramblings about my twst oc!

> her name is ceto and she's an anglerfish mermaid from a very deep, dark depth in the coral sea. her eyes are milky white and aren't very reliable at times, so in human form she doesn't have the best eyesight. she wears prescription color contact lenses because she thinks glasses are troublesome to keep up with. also, she thinks pink eyes are pretty. as soon as she came to the surface, one of the first things she did was cut her hair to match the style of a drowned woman she happened upon when she strayed from her usual depths. it's a jellyfish cut. additionally, her nails are always sharp and manicured, painted in various patterns of hot pink.

> she has sharp, needle-pointed teeth like an anglerfish's. she likes to smile and show off her teeth, but her smiles are a little too eerie and wide most of the time, which unsettles most people. she dresses in a lot of formal business fashion. black and pink is the main color scheme in her wardrobe. she wears a lot of ocean-themed jewelry, but her go-to are the fishbone hair clips which she fashioned from the bones she finds on the sea floor.

> she's very energetic and friendly, if a bit morbidly disturbed at times with her odd sense of humor and textbook knowledge on the strangest, most obscure subjects (which cause most to avoid her), and despite her fearlessly outgoing and curious nature no one seems to know much about her.

> she likes rumors and gossip and will often spread them in passing. for that reason, you should be selective with what you choose to tell her.

> in mer form, she does have an esca like an anglerfish! in human form, it acts as her tonsils (it glows at night). her unique magic is called “bocca della veritá,” and it’s a spell that allows ceto to learn of the afflicted victim's deepest fears, secrets, or insecurities. when someone looks into her open mouth, their reality falls away and is replaced with that of their greatest terror, forcing them to confront things they may not want to confront. ceto doesn't use her um often, but she does like to playfully warn others not to stare at her too much or else they may just open their eyes to a nightmare.

> she is interested in the art of pinning insects and can spend hours poring over textbooks and video essays on the subject. she keeps a journal of dried and pressed flowers and has even tried to collect and pin a few insects of her own. butterflies and fireflies are her favorites.

> despite dressing in formal business attire, she has no interest in business. she just likes the fashion and how she's able to pair it with heels. speaking of heels, she taught herself how to walk in them because it was a challenge many mers-turned-humans struggle with and ceto likes to challenge herself with difficulties like this.

> most of her behaviors are sweet and disarming. it's a tactic she uses to lure others in, whether for friendship or to learn more about them for various reasons. she sometimes wears bright colors against dark suits (such as pins or other jewelry) in hopes that others will take notice and be compelled to approach her.
