For many years, it was thought that the name "Worm Moon" referred to the earthworms that appear as the soil warms in spring. This invites robins and other birds to feed—a true sign of spring.
However, more research revealed another explanation. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver visited the Naudowessie (Dakota) and other Native American tribes and wrote that the name Worm Moon refers to a different sort of “worm”—beetle larvae—which begin to emerge from the thawing bark of trees and other winter hideouts at this time.
March’s full Moon often plays a role in religion, specifically in Christianity, this Moon is known as the Lenten Moon if it is the last full Moon of the winter season (i.e., if it occurs before the spring equinox) or as the Paschal Full Moon if it is the first full Moon of spring (i.e., if it occurs after the spring equinox).

This holiday marks the Spring Equinox, which happens before March 19-22. It is the second of three spring celebrations (the midpoint between Imbolc and Beltane)  during which light & darkness are again in balance, with light on the rise. It is a time of new beginnings & of life emerging further from the grips of winter.
There is much debate regarding the origins of Ostara due to the lack of primary sources about this sabbat. One theory is the name of Ostara came from the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre. Another theory is that Eostre is more of a localized goddess in Kent County, England. Despite the questions of her origins, Eostre is associated with modern-day Pagan traditions of Ostara.
There is no evidence that the ancient Greeks or Romans celebrated Ostara, although they did celebrate their own spring festivals, such as the Roman festival of Floralia & the Greek festival of Anthesteria. It was a time to honor the returning sun, fertility & rebirth.
Related festivals:
• Nowruz- March 19th
Nowruz marks the first day of spring & renewal of nature. It is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox. It is also celebrated as the beginning of the new year by people all around the world for over 3,000 years in the Balkans, the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East & other regions.
It promotes values of peace & solidarity between generations & within families as well as reconciliation & neighbourliness. Nowruz plays a significant role in strengthening the ties among peoples based on mutual respect & the ideals of peace and good neighbourliness.
Traditional customs of Nowruz include fire & water, ritual dances, gift exchanges, reciting poetry, symbolic objects & more; these customs differ between the diverse peoples & countries that celebrate the festival.
• Holi- March 25th
Holi is a popular & significant Hindu festival celebrated as the The festival of colors, Love &Spring. It commemorates eternal and divine love of the deities Radha & Krishna. Additionally, the day signifies the triumph of good over evil, as it celebratess the victory of Vishnu as Narasimha over Hiranyakashipu. Holi originated & is predominantly celebrated in the Indian subcontinent, but has also spread to other regions of Asia & parts of the Western world through the Indian diaspora.
Holi also celebrates the arrival of Spring in India, the end of winter & the blossoming of love. It is also an invocation for a good spring harvest season. It lasts for a night & a day, starting on the evening of the Purnima (full moon day) falling on the Hindu calendar month of Phalguna, which falls around the middle of March in the Gregorian calendar.
• Easter- March 31st
also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday is a Christian festival & cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus Christ, preceded by Lent (or Great Lent), a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, & penance.
Easter traditions vary across the Christian world & include sunrise services or late-night vigils, exclamations & exchanges of Paschal greetings, flowering the cross & the decoration and the communal breaking of Easter eggs (a symbol of the empty tomb) among many others. The Easter lily is a symbol of the resurrection in Western Christianity traditionally decorates the chancel area of churches on this day & for the rest of Eastertide. Additional customs that have become associated with Easter & are observed by both Christians & some non-Christians include Easter parades, communal dancing, the Easter Bunny & egg hunting.
Other Celebrations:
• Festival of Luna- March 31st
Is a feast day honoring the Goddess Luna who is seen as the divine embodiment of the Moon.
The Temple of Luna was a temple on the Aventine Hill in Rome, dedicated to Luna, the moon goddess. Its dedication was celebrated on March 31st, thus the celebration.
According to Tacitus, it was built by king Servius Tullius. However, the first confirmed reference to a temple to Luna dates to 182 BC & refers to one of its doors being knocked off its posts by a miraculous blast of air & shot into the back of the Temple of Ceres. That account probably places the temple at the north end of the hill, just above porta Trigemina. The temple was struck by lightning around the time of the death of Cinna, as was the temple of Ceres. After the destruction of Corinth, Lucius Mummius Achaicus dedicated some of his spoils from the city to this temple. It was destroyed in the Great Fire of Rome in 64 AD & not rebuilt.

PERSEPHONE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHO IS SHE?
Persephone, also known as Kore (meaning "young woman” or “girl" in Greek), is one of the main deities from Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, the Goddess of the Harvest. She is also the wife of Hades, the God of the Underworld, and she is associated with spring, fertility, and rebirth.
BASIC INFO:
Appearance: Persephone is typically depicted as a young and beautiful woman, with long, dark hair and eyes. She is often shown wearing a white dress or robe, and she is usually associated with flowers, especially flowering plants that bloom in the spring. She is also often associated with pomegranates, which symbolized her wedding to Hades, and which she ate while she was in the Underworld.
Personality: Persephone is usually depicted as kind, gentle, and compassionate. She is often seen as a mediator and peacemaker, and a defender of the innocent and vulnerable. She is also often portrayed as a motherly figure who is caring and nurturing. She is also sometimes seen as defiant and rebellious, and she is known to have a more powerful side that can punish those who defy her.
Symbols: pomegranate, waxing moon, narcissus, bones, seeds of grain, bats, torch, flowers, and deer
Goddess of: spring, the dead, the Underworld, grain, and nature
Culture: Greek
Plants and trees: asphodel wheat, willow, narcissus, lily, ivy, cherry tree, lily of the valley, daisy, lavender, vines, roses, pomegranates, oak, and hibiscus
Crystals: rose quartz, pigeon’s blood, rosolite, star diopside, flower agate, grossular, balas ruby, chiavennite, red spinel, clinoptilolite, Mozambique garnet, heliodor, African jade, uvarovite garnet, biotite, green calcite, hiddenite, green agate, African emerald, quantum, vivianite, indigo gabbro, green jasper, diopside, garnet, clinochlore, aventurine, iolite, and snowflake obsidian
Animals: deer, bat, black ram, parrot, and monkey
Incense: rose, pomegranate, jasmine, apple, vanilla, almond, horal, bergamot, and cinnamon
Colours: green, pink, black, light blue, purple, magenta, indigo, and yellow
Numbers: 3, 6, and 7
Zodiacs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Taurus
Tarot: High Priestess and Ace of Pentacles
Planets: Moon, Pluto, and Venus
Days: Monday, Friday, Ostara, Beltane, Lammas, Samhain, Lesser Mysteries. Eleusinian Mysteries, Proerosia, Stenia. Thesmophoria, and Heliogenna
Parents: Zeus and Demeter
Siblings: several paternal half-siblings and maternal half-siblings
Partner: Hades
Children: Melinoë, Zagreus, Dionysus, and Erinyes
MISC:
• Grains: due to her connection to the cycle of life and death. She is often depicted with grains, such as wheat, barley, and oats, which symbolize the cycle of life and death. These grains represent the cycle of life, as they are sown and then harvested, only to be sown again in a constant cycle. This symbolic representation of death and rebirth aligns perfectly with Persephone's association with the underworld and the cycle of seasons. Therefore, she is associated with grains to showcase the cycle of life and death.
• Spring: due to her connection to the changing of seasons and rebirth, she is often depicted as rising from the afterlife in spring, representing the renewal and rebirth of nature. This is because in the Greek myth, Persephone spends part of the year in the underworld with Hades, but returns to the land of the living in spring. Her return symbolizes the return of light and warmth, and the blossoming of nature. Therefore, she is associated with the season of spring as she symbolizes the rebirth and rejuvenation that comes with the new season.
• Pomegranates: according to the myth, Hades abducted Persephone and took her to the Underworld, where he forced her to eat a pomegranate. This act was a symbolic gesture of his hold over her, and it was also seen to symbolically represent her connection to the Underworld. The pomegranate became closely associated with Persephone and the Underworld, and it has remained a symbol of Persephone and her association with the Underworld ever since.
• Flowers: she is associated with flowers due to her association with spring. She is often depicted holding a bouquet of flowers, or being surrounded by blooming flowers. This is especially the case from the Greek festival of Anthesteria, which was a celebration in honour of Persephone's return from the Underworld. During this festival, people would decorate their homes and temples with flowers, representing the growth and renewal associated with Persephone's return.
• Birds: mainly doves, she is frequently depicted with a dove on her shoulder, and she overall shown with doves all around her. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, doves have long been symbolic of peace and tranquility, which aligns with Persephone's gentle and calming nature. Second, doves are often associated with symbols of fertility and rebirth, which aligns with Persephone's connection to the Underworld and spring.
• Water: she is associated with water for a couple of reasons. First, she is the Goddess of spring, and water is a vital factor for life and growth. Water is necessary for flowering bloom and green plants, so it is closely associated with the growth and renewal associated with spring. Second, water is also a symbol of rebirth and renewal, as it is a fluid element that is constantly changing and transforming. This fits well with Persephone's role as an Underworld Goddess and her connection with the cycle of life and death, as death and rebirth are represented as a transformation process.
• Gold: the Underworld is associated with riches and treasures that are commonly represented in the form of gold. This connection to riches represents the fact that the Underworld was a place of great wealth and abundance, and it represents the treasures that were found there, such as gold, jewels, and precious metals. This is another aspect of Persephone's connection to the Underworld and her role as a divinity of death and rebirth.
• Trees: they represent the natural cycle of life and death, as they grow and flourish during the warm months, then shed their leaves during the winter months, before starting the cycle all over again.Trees are also associated with fertility and rebirth, as they produce seeds and fruit that propagate new life. This ties in with Persephone's role as a Goddess of spring, and her connection with the Underworld and the cycles of nature.
FACTS ABOUT PERSEPHONE:
• She takes her role in the Underworld seriously.
• Her epithets included but were not limited to: Despoina (The Mistress), Melindia (Honey), Aristi Cthonia (Best Cthonic), and Kore (The Maiden).
• Unlike Hera and Amphitrite, Persephone didn’t have a husband that constantly cheated on her (she was married to Hades). However, there is a myth about her cheating on Hades with Adonis, depending on the version. As far as I know, Hades did nothing about the matter. I think that implies it didn’t count as cheating to him, or maybe Persephone only loved Adonis as her son, which makes sense to me since she raised him. But yes, it’s perfectly acceptable and legitimate to say she cheated on Hades.
• Persephone is often called a spring or vegetation Goddess but all that seems to mainly be related to Demeter, her mother, when it’s time for Persephone to return her. Truly incidental. Persephone was much more an Underworld Goddess than a flowery Goddess.
• There’s evidence to suggest that, as far as religious history goes, Persephone as a character in religion is older than Hades, and was an underworld deity too.
• Some sources suggest Persephone was the mother of Dionysus, but to be fair Dionysus has a bajillion origin stories.
• As far as I know, and correct me if I’m wrong, it wasn’t too popular to depict Persephone with red hair colours until the Victorian era, when a popular red-headed model was used for a famous painting of Proserpina (the Roman equivalent to Persephone). Before, she had occasionally been depicted with red hair, but black and blonde were just as popular. Nowadays, in media, she’s often portrayed as red or pink haired, although even that trend is dying again.
• Some people like to think Persephone was a minor or weak Goddess. That was simply not true. She was considered frightening in her own right.
• Someone tried to kidnap her right from the Underworld. Hades had him attached to a chair for eternity.
HOW TO INVOKE PERSEPHONE:
First, set up an altar or sacred space dedicated to her, you can then set offerings such as candles, flowers, and other symbolic items are also essential to respectfully honouring her. Prayers and incantations can be said to her to ask for guidance, support, and her blessings. Meditation and visualization can be used to feel Persephone's presence and connect with her energy. Feast days and holidays can also be celebrated to honour her.
PRAYER FOR PERSEPHONE:
“Lady Persephone, Goddess of the Underworld. I come before you in humility, I seek to find peace and healing to shed myself of pain and strife. I ask for your guidance and strength in my time of need to weather through the storms of life.”
“Thank you for your love and kindness. Please open my path to the light and give me the strength to continue to walk down this path. May we all find peace and healing, in the realm of both life and death. Hail Lady Persephone.”

Just as fun side note to the Sailor Moon pieces, here’s the flower choices for each and why
Sailor Moon: White Roses - her signature flower in one of her signature color but also white roses also mean purity
Sailor ChibiMoon: Pink Roses - same reasoning but pink roses also mean sweetness and elegance
Sailor Mercury: Chinese Bellflower - signature flower in SM Crystal, used in Japanese flower language to mean honesty and loyalty.
Sailor Mars: Gerbera Daisies - signature flower in SM Crystal, usually means happiness and vitality. Also associated with the sun so it’s possible they were chosen for their fiery appearance
Sailor Jupiter: Peony - Similar in shape to roses, but are larger and associated with honor and also riches and indulgences.
Sailor Venus: Carnation - signature flower in SM Crystal, means love and fascination
Sailor Uranus: Musk Rose - symbolizes charm
Sailor Neptune: Campion Rose - used to give to someone to say “i’m only yours”, was known for being rare but is currently a trendy flower to have in gardens
Sailor Pluto: Camellia - symbolize affection, admiration and longevity, but I also personally view camellia as a very mature flower, I just felt they suited her.
Sailor Saturn: Moonflower - specifically a cactus rare moonflower that only blooms once a year then quickly fades. The shape also reminds me of her brooch and sleeves
Sailor Star Fighter: Forget-Me-Not - you know why. Also there’s 5 points to them like a star & they’re blue.
Sailor Star Healer: Star Annise flowers because they’ve traditionally been used as home remedies and have health benefits.
Sailor Star Maker:  Star of Bethlehem flowers - symbolize hope and purity but also since they’re associated with folklore/religion there’s a lot of nerdy symbolism that Taiki would be into reading about
Sailor Kakyuu: Osmanthus - Signature flower.
Sailor Ceres: Orchid - a tropical flower that means luxury and beauty
Sailor Pallas: Nemophila - I associate this one with youthfulness because it’s used in the “Lupinus Lullaby” from Ojamajo Doremi. But it’s also a light blue and round shaped
Sailor Juno: Arum Lily - grows in the amazon, the long stalks reminded me of her hair, also represents faithfulness
Sailor Vesta: Bird of Paradise - another tropical flower and since VesVes was a beast tamer I wanted hers to resemble and animal
Sailor ChibiChibi: Rosebuds.
Sailor Galaxia: Saffron/Crocus - Means rebirth but also the gold yellow color has been used for dye in various things that people have to pick in order to use. I guess I was reaching for a darker association for her in that

Another Magical Monday!
Tumblr media
Good morning, my witches and warlocks! 'Tis I, Zinnia, bringing you another Magical Monday blog post! Today, we are going to be looking at one of the eight sabbats - Ostara!
Ostara, also known as Eostre, is the Spring Equinox which occurs every year around March 21st. It is the turning point from winter to spring, where life begins to reawaken. Night and day are of equal length and in perfect equilibrium - dark and light, masculine and feminine, inner and outer, in balance. The natural world is coming alive, the Sun is gaining in strength and the days are becoming longer and warmer.
Ostara takes its name after the Germanic goddess, Eostre/Ostara, who was traditionally honoured in the month of April with festivals to celebrate fertility, renewal, and rebirth. Some Pagans/Witches still choose to celebrate this Sabbat even today in honor of what it symbolizes in nature, following the yearly cycle.
Symbols of Ostara
As you might have guessed, the symbols for this sabbat are the hare and the egg. In Celtic tradition, the hare is sacred to the Goddess and is the totem animal of lunar goddesses such as Hecate, Freyja, and Holda. The goddess most closely associated with the Hare is Eostre, or Ostara. The nocturnal hare, so closely associated with the moon which dies every morning and is resurrected every evening, also represents the rebirth of nature in Spring. Both the moon and the hare were believed to die daily in order to be reborn - thus the Hare is a symbol of immortality. It is also a major symbol for fertility and abundance.
The egg contains 'all potential', full of promise and new life. It symbolizes the rebirth of nature, the fertility of the Earth and all creation. In many traditions, the egg is a symbol for the whole universe. The 'cosmic' egg contains a balance of male nad female, light and dark, in the egg yolk adn egg white. The golden orb of the yolk represents the Sun God enfolded by the White Goddess, perfect balance.
Ostara Correspondences
Symbolism: rebirth, new life, new beginnings, resurrection, fertility, balance, youth.
Symbols: rabbits, bunnies, eggs, chicks, daffodils, tulips, baskets, sprouts, lambs, ribbons, butterflies, bees.
Colors: pastel green, yellow, pink, gold, grass green, robin's egg blue, red.
Food/Drinks: hard-boiled eggs, deviled eggs, honey cakes, dairy, leafy green vegetables, flower dishes, sprouts, fish, hot cross buns, sweet bread, milk, chocolate, jelly beans/eggs, lemonade, fresh fruit.
Herbs: acorn, celandine, crocus, daffodil, dogwood, easter lily, ginger, hyssop, linden, honeysuckle, iris, jasmine, narcissus, peony, rose, violets, woodruff, forsythia, spring flowers.
Deities: Eostre, Ostara, Aphrodite, Athena, Cybele, Gaia, Isis, Persephone, Venus, Maiden, Pan, Cernunnos, Green Man, Adonis, Mars, Osiris, Thoth.
Crystals/Gemstones: amethyst, aquamarine, rose quartz, moonstone, bloodstone, red jasper.
Animals: rabbits, hares, chicks, robins, lambs, snakes, unicorns, dragons.
Magic: Ostara is the sabbat of new beginnings and life. Fertility magic and garden/seed blessings are commonly performed during this time. Use this Sabbat to perform magic to break away barriers, start new projects or inventions, and breathe new life into your home/garden. This is also a great time to celebrate balance. You can also use colored eggs to attract different things such as love, fertility, wealth, and prosperity.
10 Fun Ostara Activities
1. Dye eggs! It is always a fun activity - try dyeing them with natural food colorings. Using beets will color your eggs pink/red. Onion peel will color your eggs orange. Turmeric will color your egg yellow. Hibiscus will color your egg dark green. Purple cabbage will color your egg sea blue.
2. Make Ostara baskets!
3. Hide eggs and do an egg hunt!
4. Go outside and look at all the baby animals and blossoms. See life in nature being reborn and springing to life!
5. Grow grass in pots. Start preparing your garden by planting seeds inside and watch them grow!
6. Decorate your house for spring! Hang up flower wreaths, place decorative eggs around, hang up pastel colored ribbons, etc.!
7. Read up on the history and lore surrounding Ostara.
8. Talk about new beginnings. What would you like to start new?
9. Make some Ostara art! Draw a spring field, bunnies, etc.
10. Honor the birds. Leave some seed out for them, go birdwatching on a hike, etc.
Wrapping Up
There are so many wonderful ways you can celebrate Ostara. Even if you don't have much to offer, you can still take part by simply lighting a pink candle on your altar or write down on a piece of paper what spring means for you.
I hope you all have fun this upcoming Ostara. Until tomorrow!
May the Sun guide your way at day and the Moon guard you as you sleep. Blessed be!

The veil thins the night of Samhain, making communication easy. Do NOT, however, entice spirits, disrespect them, call demons, or perform any other magic that is anything less than respectful. I repeat, don't do it. Samhain is also a great time to practice divination in the form of runes, scrying, tarot, tea readings, etc. Reflect over the previous year and perform blessing spells to ring in the new year. Astral projection and lucid dreaming is also much easier to perform on this night, but remember to be safe, Banishing magic, especially those for bad habits, are especially strong on this night. POLLIN. 7.05.2015

Simple Planetary Magic
“The planets in our solar system all contain their own unique energies that can be called upon in rituals and magical workings. Each planet, including the Sun and Moon, has an ancient magical link to certain aspects of life, herbs, colors, metals, symbols, tarot cards, crystals and many other things. The planets in our solar system: The Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Earth, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto* are used widely in various forms of magic. It is advisable to use as many links as possible when performing any kind of planetary magic. Those who work with planetary forces discover that they are more than just ‘energies’, they are spiritual entities that have assisted magical workers for centuries.
*Pluto is still considered by many practitioners to be a planet, even though Pluto lost it’s “official” planet status in 2006. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded the status of Pluto to that of a “dwarf planet” because it did not meet the three criteria the IAU uses to define a full-sized planet. Essentially Pluto meets all the criteria except one- it “has not cleared its neighboring region of other objects.” Be that as it may, some practitioners still use the energies of Pluto with great success.
First, let’s examine each of the planets and their magical qualities. The correspondences listed below are by no means complete, there are many more.
MOON: The Moon is considered a feminine energy, linked to the powers of divination, intuition, psychic ability and the Third Eye Chakra. Crystals that draw upon Moon energy are Moonstone, Clear Quartz and Lapis Lazuli. Herbs and flowers linked to the Moon are Jasmine, Lily and Moonflower. The metal Silver and the colors White and Silver are associated with the Moon as is the day of Monday. In the Tarot, use The Moon, The Star or The High Priestess cards.
MERCURY: Mercury is linked to all forms of communication, self-expression and travel. Crystals for Mercury are Citrine, Goldstone and Yellow Jasper. Herbs and flowers for Mercury are Lemongrass, Peppermint and Clover. The color Orange and the day of Wednesday is linked to Mercury, and the Throat Chakra. From the Tarot, use The Chariot card. Mercury is also the metal for the planet, however, real Mercury is toxic and deadly, so many practitioners use the symbol instead. (See chart below).
VENUS: Venus is associated with love, lust, romance, relationships, friendships, family and other emotional attachments. It is also associated with Women’s Mysteries and Feminine Magic. Crystals that draw upon Venus energy are Rose Quartz and Amethyst. Herbs and flowers of Venus are Rose, Lavender and Elder. It’s day for magic is Friday and The Lovers card from the Tarot can be used. Venus colors are shades of Red, Pink and Blue. The metal of Venus is Copper, and it‘s Chakra is the Heart. (I sometimes simmer herbs in a copper cauldron when using Venus energies).
SUN: Though the Sun is technically a star, it is still included along with the other planets. The Sun is associated with ambition, success, enlightenment and achieving one’s goals. It is linked to the Crown Chakra, and various shades of Gold and Yellow. The metal of the Sun is Gold and it‘s day for magic is Sunday. Crystals for the Sun are Goldstone, Citrine and Golden Topaz. Flowers and herbs linked to the Sun are Sunflower, Marigold and St. John’s Wort. Use The Sun card from the Tarot in your Sun rituals.
MARS: The energies of Mars are fiery and masculine, primal and aggressive. Mars is linked to assertiveness, force, masculinity, Men’s Mysteries, male lust, passion, strength and power. It is very protective and militant. Herbs and plants linked to Mars are Red Clover, Cinnamon and Red Pepper. The color of Mars is Red and it’s day for magic is Tuesday. Crystals linked to Mars are Red Jasper, Ruby and Amber. Mars is ruled by the Sacral Chakra. From the Tarot, use The High Priest or the King of Swords.
JUPITER: The energies of Jupiter are associated with prosperity, money, career, growth and expansion. It’s day for magic is Thursday, and it’s colors are Green and Purple. Herbs and plants for Jupiter are Cinquefoil, Bayberry and Sage. Crystals for Jupiter are Green Aventurine, Emerald or Tree Agate. From the Tarot, use the Wheel of Fortunecard. Call on Jupiter energies when looking for a new job or any kind of advancement in your career or creative projects.
SATURN: The energies of Saturn are linked to boundaries, limitations, restrictions, obstacles, protection magic, banishing and binding. It’s day is Saturday and it’s color is Black. Crystals for Saturn are Hematite, Onyx, Hypersthene and Jet. Plants and herbs of Saturn are Mandrake, Belladonna and Henbane. (These are highly poisonous, so use caution! For a less toxic substitute, use Snapdragon or Slippery Elm). From the Tarot, use The World or The Tower cards.
EARTH: The energies of Earth represent grounding, stability, health, manifestation, and life on the physical plane. It is linked to the Root Chakra, and color shades of green and brown. All crystals and herbs can represent Earth. Tree bark can also be used. In the Tarot use the King of Wands or Queen of Wands.
NEPTUNE: Neptune is associated with the element of Water, intuition, sensitivity, empathy, compassion, adaptability and imagination. It’s color is Grey. Plants and herbs associated with Neptune are Melon, Cucumber, Pumpkin, Water Lily and Lotus Flower. Neptune crystals are Clear Quartz, Smoky Quartz and Pearl. Ocean sand, seashells and sea foam can also be used. In the Tarot, use the King of Cups.
URANUS: The energies of the planet Uranus are associated with individuality, non-traditionalism, revolution, invention and eccentricity. Plants and herbs linked to Uranus are those with sharp, irregular leaves, rare herbs and plants that shock or excite the nervous system, or plants that are purple or electric blue in color. Uranus colors are bright, neon or abstract designs. Rough, unpolished stones and crystals can be used to call upon Uranus planetary energies. In the Tarot, use The Fool or the Page of Wands.
PLUTO: The energies of Pluto are linked to rebirth, transformation, destiny and the subconscious. Herbs and flowers of Pluto are the passionflower, acacia, hollow larkspur, coneflower and the male fern. Colors for Pluto are White and Black. Crystals and stones are Snowflake Obsidian, White Howlite, Hypersthene and Black Tourmaline. In the Tarot use The Hanged Man or Death cards.
It should be noted that many witches and magical practitioners use only the seven classical planets: Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, as these were the only planets known in ancient times. Neptune, Uranus and Pluto were not discovered much later, and their magical correspondences are fairly new. Now that we know what each of the planets represent, and the energies they contain, how do we use them?
One way is through meditation and visualization. Each of the planets have a symbol. If you are doing magic to bring prosperity in your life, you can enter a meditative state, close your eyes and visualize the symbol for Jupiter with an intention for prosperity. Or, you may choose to draw the symbol on a piece of parchment paper and place it on your altar under a green candle. It is important to use as many correspondences of the same planet that you can. Carve the Jupiter symbol on the side of the candle, place Jupiter crystals and Jupiter herbs around the candle. Write your intention for prosperity on a piece of paper and light it with the candle, and drop it into a cauldron to burn.
There are many ways to use planetary magic, and this article only scratches the surface. There are planetary sigils and kameas, (these are special symbols you create to manifest specific intentions), planetary oils and even planetary hours of the day. It is also helpful to know that each day of the week is associated with a planet. It can seem a bit confusing until you get it all figured out.”

Research Topic #3: Roses
http://undergroundinkcny.com/tattoo-symbolism/flower-tattoo-symbolism/rose-tattoo-symbolism/
A yellow rose symbolizes joy, protection against envious lovers, and a mature love.
White roses symbolize purity, mysticism, and a secret admirer.
Red roses are typically thought of as symbolizing romance or passionate love, but they also represent sacrifice or memorial.
Pink roses are representative of healing, first love, and innocence.
Blue roses signify the unattainable or the impossible.
Black roses are a symbol of death and farewell. (This is not necessarily morbid; it can carry a message of memorial.)
http://www.flowermeaning.com/rose-flower-meaning/
In art of the renaissance period, a rose with eight petals was a message of rebirth and renewal.
In alchemical texts and art, a rose with seven petals was a symbol of inclusion, universal understanding and order.
The association between numerology and the rose is also seen in Freemasonry where each of three roses are symbolic of a guiding principle – Love, Life and Light.
In mythology the rose is associated with Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love who was often depicted adorned with roses around her head, feet and or neck. It is also said that a rose bush grew within the pool of blood spilled from Aphrodite’s slain lover Adonis.
In Christian mythology, a rose bush was also said to have grown at the site of Christ’s death.
In the Tarot the rose is considered a symbol of balance. It expresses promise, new beginnings, and hope. Its thorns represent defense, physicality, loss, thoughtlessness. In the major arcana the rose appears on the Magician, Strength, Death and Fool cards. All of these cards hold strong meanings of balance and equilibrium.
In the classical era, the rose was sacred to a number of goddesses including Isis. The ancient Greeks and Romans also identified the rose with the goddesses of love, Aphrodite and Venus respectively. In Rome a wild rose would be placed on the door of a room where secret or confidential matters were discussed. The phrase sub rosa, or “under the rose”, means to keep a secret and is derived from this ancient Roman practice.
Christians in Medieval times identified the five petals of the rose with the five wounds of Christ. The rose later became associated with the Virgin Mary and was eventually adopted as a symbol of the blood of the Christian martyrs. A bouquet of red roses is used as a gift on Valentine’s Day which is a day celebrating the Christian Saint Valentinus.

Out of all colors, there are no black roses. What might sometimes be referred to as a black rose is actually a dark red rose. A good example is “The Black Rose of Turkey”, is a breed that appears pitch-black to the eye, but is actually has a dark reddish-crimson color.
The rose hip of some rose species are known to be full of vitamin C. This is why the rose hip is sometimes used to create jam, jelly & marmalade. The hip also has minor medicinal uses, used in food supplements and can be pressed or filtered to make rose hip syrup.
Roses can live for a very long time. There are rose fossils discovered that date back 35 million years. The large rose bush that covers the wall of the Cathedral of Hildesheim in Germany has been there for over a millennium.
The rose is one among the only three flowers mentioned in the Bible. The others are lilies and camphire (henna.
https://www.gardenguides.com/96571-parts-rose-flower.html
Roses are “perfect” flowers, meaning that each flower has complete male and female parts. A rose blossom produces male pollen, and it also contains the female parts so it can produce seedsafter it is pollinated. Rose seeds are contained in the fruit, or “hip” that develops from a pollinated rose flower.
Sepals: Sepals are the green, leaf-like covering that protects the rose bud before it blooms. The sepals are the first part of the bud to unfurl. They are modified leaves.
Petals: Rose petals are the colored parts that attract insect pollinators as well as humans. Petals are also modified leaves.
Stamen: The stamen is the male part of the rose flower. It consists of the filaments, anthers and pollen. The filaments are fiber-like structures that extend from the center of the rose. At the tip of each filament is an anther, which is the part that carries the dust-like pollen grains. When the rose first opens, the anthers are yellow with pollen. Once bees have done their work pollinating, the anthers lose most of the yellow color.
Pistil: The pistil is the female part of the rose flower. It consists of the stigma, which is the sticky opening to the style, which is the tube that connects to the flower’s ovary. The sticky stigma collects pollen grains, which travel down the style to the ovary. The ovary contains ovules, or structures of egg cells. Once pollinated, the egg cells develop into seeds in the ovary, which develops into the rose hip.
